Politics › Re: Nigerian Problems And Immediate Solution By Oluwaseyi Idowu by wowcatty: 5:17am On Apr 02, 2019
I really liked your comment until you put in the modification part. What exactly needs to be modified? We had the best system back then and we don't need anything changed. Seems you also wanted to give up something before getting to the negotiating part and would have given out everything away by the time we get to that point. I can tell you are Yoruba cos only Yoruba had it going then and want to go back to the system that separated the men from the boys and want to go back to it, though the Niger Deltans and the middle belt too can stand on their own but not so much for the 2 parasites that are scattered outside their regions.
Xander85:
What you've posted is just papering over the cracks....they're just cosmetic solutions that have nothing to stand on and wouldn't last! The problems you're hoping your suggestions would solve are symptoms of a more endemic and fundamental problem facing Nigeria which you artfully swerved past.

Any solution to Nigerias' problems that doesn't have at its root the complete and total overhaul of its present structure and political economy....reversing back to pre-1966 settings (of course with modifications to reflect present day realities), such a solution is bound to fail!
Politics › Re: Nigerian Problems And Immediate Solution By Oluwaseyi Idowu by wowcatty:
Not good enough, too complicated, will be difficult to enforce.and won't change anything.

Here are the simple ones as done all over the world that can bring about needed competition to grow the economy among states/regions, provide security of lives and properties and create jobs for the people.

1. Let the states manage their resources and affairs and give 5% of their taxes to the federal government with every state/region fully represented.

2. Let police and military serve in their home local govt and watch armed robbery reduced to the kind they have in Ghana and Zambia where they break in your house when not home to steal used toothpaste and few cups of cornmeal. There's a reason why crimes used to be high in police and soldier barracks areas in Yorubaland, strangers filled up the barracks. Any serious country with safety in mind won't allow total strangers to police anywhere. Any state region/state that allows it's own to be hijacked by the politicians will have its people to explain to, so the argument that the governors will use them as pawns is nonsense, there will be a governing body the police will directly answer to, and not the governor. Above all, it will be a local problem with someone to hold to account.

3. Let the federal govt hands-off state/regions affairs and responsibilities, education, court system healthcare, business licenses and others should be returned to state/region.

Nigeria won't do any of these willingly cos of those reaping where they did not sew, so it will take war and no one will fight a war and then remain in the same country after deaths of many. The best thing is for Nigeria to break, it's not serving any purpose at the moment, but some are still deceiving themselves

Nigeria is broken and it needs to be overhauled. Nothing is working in Nigeria all we have on is a bandaid.
Politics › Re: Why APC Sacrificed Governor Bindow In Adamawa by wowcatty: 4:51am On Mar 31, 2019
Apc didn't sacrifice anyone, Buhari and his fulani cabal are giving concessions to Pdp in preparation for 2023. Buhari is done with Apc and ready to kill the party as he has no need for it again. Yoruba Apc chose lesser of two evils and at peace with that but Yoruba republic is the ultimate destination. Tinubu knew this and said it before the elections, I hope he will use his connections to help Yoruba out of Nigeria, a win-win situation, that's even better than anything politics could give him in Nigeria.
Politics › Re: APC Youth Groups Vow To Resist Zoning Speakership To South-west by wowcatty:
Your subtle threat is seen! But what exactly can you do? Kill Tinubu? What if it doesn't go your way.as planned? You've gotten so comfortable that you think it's always going to be the same way. Though malu heads can't figure out when to stop or consider the political climate we are in, you must have it in you that there can be surprises sometimes, even slaves that were bought and sold by superior powers couldnt believe it when they gained freedom, let alone people who have what it takes to fight back but just confused. I knew you will stretch your luck thin and then break. You are not as good as you think, remembe if Yoruba don't drop it you can't pick it. If Yoruba had been pulling their weight, you won't have anything to keep beating on. I have news for you though, the few youths we need to get it started are on it and if you don't already know it's a different climate right now, you haven't been paying enough attention. The north has weapons and a lot of it but we know where it is and can be taken out in seconds and you won't be able to replenish through our ports. English will abandon you and jump ship, you have nothing to offer them when conflicts break out, Yoruba are the ones with knife and the yam. In the end, you will be restrained with your cows to your region or if you want to keep fighting us with cutlasses and daggers (cos you won't have money to keep buying weapons and won't be able to bring them through our ports if given free or maybe your sultans and emirs can carry them on carmel back rides) you can be our guests. Every unnatural thing with beginning always has an end, nature didn't join us together, foolishness did.

Politics › Re: Can You Compare Biafra To Brexit? by wowcatty:
Nice try conditioning the minds of the gullible but not so fast, there's no difference between the system the English left with us and the one they practice themselves. And sovereignty is exactly what it says. Nigeria is not using the constitution we all agreed on, what is being used is military decree and it's within the regions rights to break free now since all agreements have been broken and it's just a matter of courage for the "geographical expression area" to break. For example, if millions of Yoruba youths can hit the streets of Yorubaland and cripple all activities for weeks and invite journalists from across the world to cover it live. How many can Nigeria soldiers kill on cameras before we have international "peacekeeping forces" at our doorsteps? That exactly what is in the works as a group is bringing the world attention to why liberation needs to come to Yorubaland. That Nigeria can't divide is a wishful thinking, there's nothing in this world bound by any law that can hold people against their will when ready or force them to be with others especially when the agreement has been broken.
Opexzy:
Brexit isn't about freedom... European union (i mean the rest of the countries in EU) benefits from United Kingdom and United Kingdom benefit from them as well... This is more like a mutual benefit...

People only clamor for freedom when they are in slavery. In the case of Brexit. It's more like a divorce

Brexit is more like a contract termination and you know contracts are bounded by agreements..

Even the case of Biafra can not be likened to that of the United Kingdom because every nation in the UK are bounded by an act that is boldly represented in the constitution therefore can be separated by same act in the constitution...

In the case of biafra there is no constitution binding the regions... Our constitution was created after the amalgamation in 1914... So we started as a sovereign state together. The major issue now is simply because none of the regions exhibit total sovereignty before amalgamation. This is the major reason while any advocacy for a breakup can be treated as treasonous by the federal government
Politics › Re: Yoruba Elders Task Buhari On True Federalism by wowcatty: 11:39am On Mar 25, 2019
If this group actually believes that any fulani or igbo will return Nigeria back to the regional govt we all agreed on at independence, it will never come out of the self-induced coma it's in. I just hate it when some iddiots say the dumbest things in Yoruba's name. Igbos coup and soldier suspended the regional system of we had and fulani made it to law in the first place because they need Yoruba as meal ticket, so how are they going to go back to having to pay Yorubaland tax duties on our ports and not have access to Yoruba's money. It's like asking the fulani and igbos to commit suicide, what are they going to live on?

Even Pdp Yoruba can't return Nigeria to the regional govts, they are omo ale and useful idiots for fulani and igbos. The only people that can return Nigeria to what we agreed on are Yoruba patriots in Apc, they are the true sons and daughters of the land who think of Yorubaland first and know Nigeria has caused Yorubaland to be worse off now than any time in our history.

Why is it that you can't take what you dish to others? Yoruba didn't cry when you all dragged justice Salami or is he not a "Southerner" as you often refer to yourselves when you stand to gain something and cheat Yoruba? I don't blame you, I blame some Yoruba who give you power to malign the rest of us. Life will always mirror what you put out there, so watch what you do to others as it will come back to hunt you. You blame Yoruba for your erectile dysfunction too anyway, so keep weeping your destiny away at Yoruba's feet, that's exactly what you live for. Yoruba will never be part of your south, you are worse than the north and more guilty of why we should be out of Nigeria.

ChristianNorth:
Today the CJN has been vindicated.

We all know how this started, how SW media was the first to defend and support the illegality of the president, how they ran false stories just to tarnish the image of an innocent man, a father, grandfather and Head of Nigerian judiciary and used their media to crucify him even before the court sits.

We all know how they refused to to abide by the NBA's directive to boycott the court, how they refused to join the protest against this illegality and how to sponsored counter-protest against those Protesting the illegality.

We all saw how Channels suspended an ongoing programme to run emergency programme to defend Buhari's decision to unconstitutionally remove the CJN and swell public sentiment against the CJN, a lot of threads were opened by Sarrki, BBQ and others blackmailing everyone that spoke against that by labelling them as lovers of corruption.

Femi Falana was one of the first to condemn the illegality but few days later he adopted anti-Onnoghen stance calling for his resignation. How can a learned man call for the resignation of the CJN on the ground of unsubstantiated evidence. Anyway, we were surprised by the sudden turn-coat.

I don't know why SW has continually made themselves enemy of the South and opposing anything of Southerner interest but they should always know that "family is your last line of defence"

We wish from the better South wish them Good Luck.

Code word for LAWLESSNESS! Just say Nigeria is a lawless country, but thanks for sugarcoating it to save yourself from barrage of insults.
willy25:
As a North American who has spent over a decade in Nigeria, I realized I should state this publicly more often because I think it most every day: Nigeria is f***king amazing. Nowhere else can one test the boundaries of what is possible better than in this country.

What would be considered national emergencies elsewhere barely register in Nigeria. The so-called rules of the financial markets are ignored, twisted and shattered here but people continue on with grace and joy. Electricity goes off randomly multiple times a day yet people's energy is constantly high. Imagine what your life would be like without electricity for one week, and know most Nigerians have been without it for weeks at a time since they were born. Terrorist attacks on the scale of 9/11 have happened every year for the past 7 years. Still this remains a nation where people will smile, engage and offer assistance more often than not. If any peoples are ready to survive the end times, it is those who were raised in Nigeria.

Every large city has traffic, but in many Nigerian cities a hold-up transitions into a shopping mall. Delicious popcorn, questionable mousetraps, Suzanne Summers thighmasters, real puppies... Where else can you be cursing under your breath in a traffic jam and a random stranger brings you a PUPPY?

Sick of reading long rants about how persecuted your great-uncle is or what a terrible restaurant some random acquaintance went to? Strangely in a country where people have every reason to complain, there is very little of it, especially wrt trivial matters. Why? My theory is most Nigerians generally do not have time for such nonsense, and complainers are not entertained even by their own mothers. Most Nigerians I have met learn early to put up or shut up. Do you have any idea how refreshing this is coming from a culture where cynicism is treated somewhere between an aspiring profession and a god given right?

To be honest, sometimes I think that Nigeria is this fantastic secret carefully guarded by Niger Delta militants, Boko Haram terrorists and internet scammers. But I also realize this would ignore the massive endemic issues that make life a magnitude harder for most people here. I realize that as a relativity rich white person, I get treated better and have a different experience than many. I realize this experience is not everybody's cup of tea. But for those who can see past the problems to the opportunities, there is not really a better place to be than Nigeria.

Politics › Re: Why Are White People So Developed And Cool by wowcatty: 7:01am On Mar 15, 2019
Because whites tell themselves the truth, they plan ahead for the future generations. Whites identify what is not working and change course and allow everyone to grow at his/her pace. New York tax is not funding Alabama, states collect all taxes and remit a percentage to the federal govt, every state is in charge of its education. Security of lives and property is important to whites and upper middle class don't need security to move around, even Mark Zuckerberg just hired an armed guard this year and that's due to Facebook secret that was exposed as LIFELOG and a brainchild of the CIA that wasn't intended to be a social media but ended up being like one. People feel betrayed and the dude now has a panic button on him at all times and a shoot that can drop him to the parking garage in a twinkle of an eye with a private escape route and a traffic monitoring staff. Africans especially Nigerians can't tell themselves the truth, Nigeria is not working and will never work cos we are too different but no one wants to talk about that. Some sections of the country know they can't survive on their own and are holding others down with them.

If you don't envy Yoruba, then act like it and leave us alone or is it a sin to be in the same country or what kind of obsession is this? Whether you use the port in Lagos or not it's a service we are rendering to you and we are not Santa claus, you pay for your service. And as you know there's something you gain from the banks, you are not doing anyone a favor. Which expensive house are you talking about? The most expensive houses in Lagos are owned by Yoruba and the mid range ones are where the downed dirty money laundering resurfaced, ofcourse you igbos have been able to have some of the houses from proceeds of crimes but most of the houses don't support people's incomes in Nigeria. What's important is to go and develop your region, if Akwa Ibom port is viable, investors would have been falling over themselves to grab the opportunity. Thank goodness you said Rivers is where Yoruba taxi drivers are and not igboland even though the number could have been igbogerated, taxi driving is a good way to make honest living, better than the crime living most of you have chosen.
zionmde:
Igbos envy nothing about yorubas, nothing at all. Its the other way round.
The day Igbos choose to stop using the port in lagos and stop using banks whose headquarters are in lagos that's wen u know lagos is wat it is because of Igbos. When Igbos choose to leave the so called lagos, tell me who will live in those expensive houses? Hausas? Or agberos?. Don't be deceived the exodus of Igbos from lagos won't create any opportunity for yorubas because they can't suddenly develop business sense and occupy the businesses Igbos do.
Just pray one day the Onne and calabar ports doesn't become fully operational, then u will know lagos is nothing.
One more thing 80% of yorubas in rivers state are taxi drivers. No single sense of taking the opportunities in the land.

So how exactly does the Igbos who conquer everywhere they go commercially envy yorubas.
Pray also the country doesn't break up, don't think Igbos will keep importing goods through Tin can island

You debunked nada, you are just going in circles. There are facts which I'm stating and the wishful thinking on your part cos your life depends on it as to cover up your progenitors inadequacy. The English did Not leave a single green house in Yorubaland for the 100 years they were with us, we had to go to court for common toilet they collected money for and refused to build. Awolowo built everything in Lagos within 14 years of taking over from English. Yoruba were not on anyone's league in the whole Africa, even your fathers were labourers in Yorubaland until the weight of the 3 of you fulani, igbo and Hausa became too much for Yoruba to carry. Why did the 3 tribes put Awolowo in prison 2 years after independence? It's for your fathers to lay hands on the beautiful city Awolowo built and your lineage can't put together in 100 lifetimes and for his support to free the minorities. Why did an igbo man suspend the regional govt through coup? It's to be able to have free access to the rich region of Yorubaland. And finally why are you refusing to go back to the regional govt that we agreed on to become one country and the basis of our union? Cos you know it means death to you living next to prosperous Yorubaland with your worse than Somalia region next door eating yourselves. Same for why you removed history from school so you are not exposed as people who came from nothing and fleecing Yoruba.

A tiny portion of Lagos was leased out to the federal govt for less than 30 years and if federal govt had repaired anything in Lagos as done occasionally by tenants, that would not be out of place to take on home repairs and deduct it from rent paid but in the case of Nigeria federal govt, the system we agreed on was suspended and Yoruba tax money carted away to different regions. Federal govt was in part of Lagos for less than 30 years stealing Yoruba's wealth built and set up by Awolowo, the stealing is still on going today even when the capital is elsewhere.

See, whether you like it or not Nigeria is ilegal, doomed and on burrow time. The world will soon pay attention to it and trust weapon sellers who are always selling to both sides. Nigeria will break even if the war last for 10 years and that my friend is what you should worry about. And as you know, Yoruba are blessed and will rebuild faster with the help of the world loans. You already know what economic blockade and the forced return to biafra feel like.

Obi1kenobi:
See all the wishful rants here. grin After debunking the historically illiterate rubbish he was spewing, he just repeated some of the same nonsense again. Again, "you" built jackshit in Lagos. You can ramble all the nonsense about how Lagos was like New York before it was "carved into Nigeria". The reality is it was little more than coastal fishing villages before the Europeans landed on its shores. The indigenes of Lagos and surrounding Yoruba land simply profited from the infrastructural base and capital that poured into Lagos from the British and the FG for 76 good years. Much of the road networks (including all 3 main bridges connecting the Island to the Mainland, which allowed the mainland flower), the ports, the airport, the power infrastructure, including Egbin, the transmission and distribution networks, Eti Osa, Lagos Island, Apapa, Festac etc were the product of the FG and British colonialists. Most of the industries founded in Lagos before independence were foreign investments from the British which were later indigenized. The ministries, departments and agencies housed in the city by the FG also attracted massive capital. The rest of the development simply came from settlers all over Nigeria who arrived to tap into the enabling environment that this capital investments into Lagos created (same way millions ran to Abuja after it was made capital).
You can delude yourself with whatever comforting illusions you wish. You didn't "build" jackshit.

Sure, "Igbo land" is hardly flowing with milk and honey. This has nothing to do with the people of Igbo land, but the fortune that nature dealt us. Akwa Ibom, or Rivers may be rich in oil, but the indigenes didn't put any oil in the ground so it's nothing to brag about. It's dumb luck. Lagos indigenes (and I'm not talking about Ogbomosho villagers claiming Lagos) were simply favored with the dumb luck of being coastal dwelling fishermen, and coastal areas tend to attract more capital as trading and commercial hubs than land-locked hinterland areas. That's nothing to brag about. Repeat it however many times you want, I'll still be here to bust your delusions and tell you that you built jackshit in Lagos. Lagos was nothing more than coastal fishing villages till Europeans landed its shores. You built nothing in Lagos. You're just the most populated tribe in a cosmopolitan industrialized city with a complex history, and then trying to claim what you don't own from your Osun village.
Ghana deported "700 of us"? Eziokwu? They specifically searched for Igbo people and deported 700 of us? grin Keep dreaming sha, but that is never happening in Lagos. You can always get off the internet and try your luck. You can start from my area in Festac where most of us are Igbo. We're waiting for you to come and drive us out.
