Politics / Re: CBN's Lamido Sanusi Sued For Plagiarism by wowo2: 9:11am On Apr 24, 2012
PLAGIARISM is not good at all. No matter how well Sanusi implements imperialistic policies, he has now put to sleep his hope of ever working in IMF or Worldbank.

Even in Nigeria where anything goes, i know lecturers that got the sack with the attendant disgrace for Plagiarism (at OAU, Ife).

They say the word PLAGIARISM has its origin from the latin word for KIDNAPPING - plagiare, which means to kidnap or abduct.

Did the bill of capital punishment for Kidnappers get passed by the national Assembly? I hope not shocked

shymmex: Nigerians are crazy people - keep blaming the parents... If the shyte hole called Nigeria didn't drive these parents, who wanted better lives for their kids into exile - these boys won't be in the situation they're in right now..

What can the parents do?? Most parents our here work VERY hard, to pay bills, tax, and look after their kids - but it's not as easy as you guys think. Parents work round the clock most times, and are never at home. These kids grew up around gang members, and drug dealers - and they're enticed from a young age... It's different out here, if you are raised in a council flat.. You've to form a bond with all the 'yutes' you grew up with - because everywhere is territorial.. That's the only way you won't get bullied, and probably fend for yourself without depending on your parents..

One other thing most people don't know is that, most Nigerian kids out here were raised in broken homes - where the Dad is either absent, or around, but don't play active roles in the lives of their kids... Naija mums in the UK are BLACK QUEENS, trust me - and you can't blame them, because most of them break their backs everyday doing odd jobs, to cater for their kids... The system is just phucked up, and the thieving bastards in the shyte hole called Nigeria - have also destroyed their home country..

It's easy for you guys to come on the internet and post silly comments - but please do a thorough research before posting your ignorance...

Someone still has to be responsible. At the end of the day, it is still bad parenting
I know of families outside of Nigeria with teenagers whose parents are forever trying to get them go out and participate in other activities, sports because all they ever want to do after school hours and on weekends is stay indoors reading textbooks and novels. These are also hardworking parents with kids no different from those brought up in good homes in Nigeria with high morals.
Crime / Re: Obi Nwokeh, Christopher Omoregrie & Samson Odegbune Jailed For Murder In UK by wowo2: 8:07pm On Apr 20, 2012
Why are people so blind to see. This has no bearing with what Nigerian tribes they come from.
It boils down to individual parenting. To love your child is not to allow him all the freedom in the world like to be feral and grow to be an animal - with no morals or understanding of right and wrong.
I really hope some academic has done a study on how migrant parents bring up their children in foreign countries angry

His name sef na lie!

I want to believe you're just playing with words or probably feigning ignorance.
Am not yoro but Lagos born and bred and know Awokulehin would be something like Awo(not Awolowo) is behind.
I may be wrong but you definitely are..

i agree it is hightime people in whatever position start being held responsible in Nigeria.

that's the least of the worries of nigerians.
there's hardly any high ranking politician in nigeria who hasn't been in prison.
having a criminal record is no biggie in nigeria for politicians.
matter of fact, a criminal record strengthens their chance of winning political seats.

Nice.

it's up to the electoral officer to screen the politicians vying for posts.
if he slips through their screening, whose fault?

Exactly my point...who takes responsibility...nobody.
So sit back and watch this same scenario happen over and over and over again....

A pity Nigeria never learns from experience: not even from its own history.
In a sane society questions will be asked of how he was able to contest in an election considering that he was once a shop cashier thief.

Governance in Nigeria is about spending money(positive effect on lifes of a few Nigerians) and not about results (positive effect on lifes of all Nigerians).
When new appointees get into office, their main goals are to come up with programmmes that lots of money can be spent on and made from; and to keep those programmes that money can easily be siphoned from. Simple.

How can Tinubu be 70? Agreed he does not appear to make much sense as he and his party have failed to champion any transformation policy as Awolowo did but hey, Tinubu 70? Yams..

A further history lesson, google 'le terror' and see what happened in France after the French Revolution - violence only begets violence

Well, no two events end up exactly the same way especially when they are sudden and violent in the first place. Ghana may be on the upswing in recent years but Rawlings' coup was also not the first in Ghana.
My take is still that situation of things over time will always either get better or worse. We will be living a lie to think all is well in a democracy that lacks the checks and balances to sustain it.

Please tell me which 'coup' in France you are referring to? the French Revolution? in 1770's Is that what you are comparing to the 21st Century?

Appreciate your educated response. I had typed that without much thought to time perspective. But hey, to paraphrase what someone said, history repeats itself when people are incapable of learning from the experience. In new forms, if i may add.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Mali Soldiers Seize Power After Palace Attack by wowo2: 12:11pm On Mar 22, 2012
I do not subscribe to coups due to their illegality and the usual attendant loss of lives; but I cringe when i read comments about how bad coups are and what it has done to our country blah blah blah. Just as there have been bad intents by those who carry out coups, there have been cases of governments being overthrown in places like Ghana or France which lead to positive social changes.

Agreed, two wrongs don't make a right but a democracy that is only worth the paper it's written on is one that is begging for sudden, violent changes. There have been coups all over the world and there may continue to be so long as situation pleads for it.

Everyone outside of government has the panacea for all of Nigeria's problems. We have seen that this is not the case: ACN, NADECO, so-called technocrats all fail, regress and become equally greedy once they occupy govt posts.
We need a Law that not only punishes corrupt people but makes them earn their freedom after serving their prison term. One way is to have them pay back triple the govt trust/money that they mishandled or can not account for while in office.

do not dislike her but hey, maybe she will be better seeing to fixing the next global meltdown or managing financial institutions rather than Nigerians. She has no clue about the sufferings ordinary people go through -IMHO she probably thinks Nigerians are only the people she sees or has dealings with.
