EducationRe: List Of Schools & Their 2012/2013 UTME Cut-off Marks by wowo2: 4:51pm On Apr 02, 2012
Is cut-off no longer departmental? It was never even on a faculty level so how is it now a University level criteria?
Is this how they now do it due to the university exams Jambites still write?

Some want this, others want that. No one has a say in what it will be - this or that.
So why bother about wishing at all when your opinion counts not.

A further history lesson, google 'le terror' and see what happened in France after the French Revolution - violence only begets violence
Well, no two events end up exactly the same way especially when they are sudden and violent in the first place. Ghana may be on the upswing in recent years but Rawlings' coup was also not the first in Ghana.
My take is still that situation of things over time will always either get better or worse. We will be living a lie to think all is well in a democracy that lacks the checks and balances to sustain it.

Please tell me which 'coup' in France you are referring to? the French Revolution? in 1770's Is that what you are comparing to the 21st Century?
Appreciate your educated response. I had typed that without much thought to time perspective. But hey, to paraphrase what someone said, history repeats itself when people are incapable of learning from the experience. In new forms, if i may add.
Foreign AffairsRe: Mali Soldiers Seize Power After Palace Attack by wowo2: 12:11pm On Mar 22, 2012
I do not subscribe to coups due to their illegality and the usual attendant loss of lives; but I cringe when i read comments about how bad coups are and what it has done to our country blah blah blah. Just as there have been bad intents by those who carry out coups, there have been cases of governments being overthrown in places like Ghana or France which lead to positive social changes.

Agreed, two wrongs don't make a right but a democracy that is only worth the paper it's written on is one that is begging for sudden, violent changes. There have been coups all over the world and there may continue to be so long as situation pleads for it.
PoliticsRe: Witness Tells Court How El-rufai Allocated Land To Himself, Family And Companies by wowo2: 11:46am On Mar 22, 2012
Everyone outside of government has the panacea for all of Nigeria's problems. We have seen that this is not the case: ACN, NADECO, so-called technocrats all fail, regress and become equally greedy once they occupy govt posts.
We need a Law that not only punishes corrupt people but makes them earn their freedom after serving their prison term. One way is to have them pay back triple the govt trust/money that they mishandled or can not account for while in office.
BusinessRe: Ngozi Okonjo-iweala Among Candidates For World Bank President by wowo2: 2:52pm On Mar 21, 2012
do not dislike her but hey, maybe she will be better seeing to fixing the next global meltdown or managing financial institutions rather than Nigerians. She has no clue about the sufferings ordinary people go through -IMHO she probably thinks Nigerians are only the people she sees or has dealings with.

TravelRe: Uk Deports 120 Nigerians Over Immigration Offences by wowo2:
While in the UK late last year, next to where i stay was this 20-something looking year old Nigerian (genius me figured out cos when i pass by is window he speaks a Nigerian language and Pidgin when on the phone or to his friends).
I had been thinking of going over to know the guy but I suspected something may not be right as his dressing/comportment seemed kinda yahoo yahoo/extravagant like that of a Nigerian hip hop star...true, I was a little envious smiley. Not to talk of the big car he had (most cars i see in the UK are smally hatchbacks). Two days before xmas, very early in the day, he was visited by the police. He was handcuffed and his car was taken away. Some british people moved into the apartment shortly after and I kept wondering what happened to him and his belongings. With this news, my mind can now rest as he is most likely safe back home.

My mouth has a bad taste after reading what people have to write about other ethnic groups.
I try not to think of what these people who most likely profess to be religious would do in wartime. Very animalistic people with no core principles.

Lots of balderdash being spewed on this thread.
I mean, what ages are the people making these puerile comments not to know that some human beings from every race and creed can regress into low animals and carry out unlawful acts like this horrible being did.
PoliticsRe: Supreme Court Sacks Kebbi Governor by wowo2: 10:00am On Mar 03, 2012
You catch a student cheat and tell him to go re-write the exam. No sense of punishment.
Suspend or ban him for a year or more and he will learn some lessons.

PoliticsRe: I Did Not Plead Guilty –ibori by wowo2: 8:31pm On Mar 01, 2012
Someone said he had money before  undecided

The UK dailies report him as earning £5,000 a year while working in Wickes, a store selling home goods. A Monk cannot survive on that - not in the UK.

EducationRe: Which Nigerian University Offers Msc In Development Studies? by wowo2: 4:39pm On Feb 29, 2012
There is no development in Nigeria.
Did I answer the question?

Am not a social scientist but just to chip in, won't development studies exist under different disciplines?
TravelRe: invalid by wowo2: 2:56pm On Feb 29, 2012
if you travel with the old you may (don't think Nigeria will deport you back to wherever you are coming from) be allowed in but you wont be allowed out(even after parting with all the money, you will be stranded), so why not get the new at the Nigerian Consulate or whatever?
PoliticsRe: State Of The Union: Your Part by wowo2: 4:49pm On Feb 25, 2012
A govt that doesn't know how much (oil) it exports or how much it makes cannot plan for anyone even if it stops thinking ocada drivers are self-employed. If they say there are plans, then they can never achieve anything.

PoliticsRe: Breaking News: Supreme Court Sacks Kebbi Gov, Orders Fresh Election by wowo2: 11:02pm On Feb 24, 2012
If you cheat at exams in school, do you not get punished by being suspended for some semesters, made to repeat the whole year or get rusticated even? All these politicians cheating and stealing mandates not being punished but then made to re-contest (with the influence of the wrongly-occupied post now at their disposal) does not make sense.

The people that made or are  making laws in Nigeria no go school or is it rocket science?

Jega's INEC is the best so far.
It may be but IMHO history will see Jega as someone who lowered his expectation of human decency. He unfortunately closes his eyes to a whole lot of Evil.
PoliticsRe: Gej Heads To Uk For Summit On Somalia With 50 Strong entourage? by wowo2: 10:24pm On Feb 22, 2012
Issue is not about how many people are in the entourage. Question is -  does a govt that can not attend to or resolve its internal issues like boko haram have any business trying to fix what goes on miles away on the sea?
PoliticsRe: Rights Commission’s Boss Declares Assets Publicly: Gej What About U? by wowo2: 7:52pm On Feb 22, 2012
The man is way before his time.

He probably should have waited to serve after the coming cataclysmic wave sweeps all of them thieves away forever - GEJ and his minions - including the Governor of Ekiti state that declared hundreds of millions of Naira - an ordinary man protesting on the streets of London together in the aftermath June 12 cancellation days.

FashionRe: Nigerian Tailors And Their Wahala! by wowo2: 10:39am On Feb 19, 2012
The day i walked into my tailor's and the radio was on. The talkative on the radio was blabbing on about how children should not be forced into any profession and said something like if your child is not good in school, he can become good at other things like tailoring. All the 6 tailors abandoned their work and lurched towards me, the only customer in the room to plead their case - their work is the most strenuous of professions, involves lots of maths, dull people can't be tailors etc. Till today,  can not remember when or how I got out of the building,

EducationRe: Gej Orders Compulsory Entrepreneurship Course For All Undergraduates by wowo2: 1:07pm On Feb 18, 2012

You want people to start committing suicide?
