gypsey: First time i travelled to Nigeria, as landed at MMA lagos the heat hit my face, in just few minutes i was sweating like a christmas Turkey. The whole airport smelt horrible, the toilet was filty with a brown 6 inches shiit starring angrily at me as if to be asking what da fu ck are you doing in Nigeria? no water to wash hands after using the toilet or flush. everyone was asking to be "dashed" something i even thought for one minute that the shiit in that toilet was about to demand for "dash" too the way it was starring at me. The noise was excruciating people screaming while hawking their various wares, defecating and urinating everywhere, The hotel was filty, No electricity, i was told that the generator isn't on, what?!! I yelled, generator?!! but however, above all i Enjoyed my 3 weeks stay in Nigeria. chibjohn: This isn't true. You need to go through the books of those discos. They are just existing and not making profits like you think. That's the major issue. Your minister doesn't have a clue. The people in the government don't have a clue, let's face reality but the estimated billing from Discos, do you support it? Even most countries in third world category has moved from the parochial meter to prepaid. Nigerians are synonymous of archaic ways because this is what they felt can be used to short-changed the system |
Politics › Re: FG Mulls Handover Of Power Distribution To Siemens by wristbangle: 8:23pm On Feb 20, 2020 |
Agboriotejoye: DId siemens tell you that? Kindly furnish us details of your meeting with them, Last we heard, they signed an agreement with the same FG that is paying subsidies to discos.
No!! The genesis of the problem is discos want to reap where they have not sown. They are supposed to modernize the Nigerian distribution network while putting ALL customers on prepaid meters. They have done none of those. Instead they have put majority of Nigerians on estimated bills while forcing govt to pay for the rest of the power they reject through NBET. They still get subsidies from the same NBET and NERC to pay for prepaid meters most of which are never delivered to the customer. The agreement they had with FG in 2014 is an incremental rates plan whereby every cycle, they will show the improvement that have occurred in the system due to their interventions and NERC will respond by adjusting rates to reflect the money they spent. Right now, they can't show any improvement they've brought to the system but are advocating upward review of rates due to sentiments. TRASH!! Thank you for taking out time to explain this to him. I like the point where you mentioned discos embrace estimated billing against prepaid meter billing. I have lost counts and heard severally from the horse mouth( Discos) that prepaid meter will put them in trouble. If DISCOS are not making profit, there ought to have embark on strike in many ocassion or pull out from the business. |
Politics › Re: FG Mulls Handover Of Power Distribution To Siemens by wristbangle: 6:28pm On Feb 20, 2020 |
Gnaeusmagnus: The issues arising
1. Siemens is not going to come in and charge bills below the production price , so bills go up. Siemens is also not coming to invest in Nigeria sans profit.
2. Discos will expect to be compensated for being forced out of the business for Siemens.
3. Expect higher bills, but improvement in power supply The amount of profit DISCOS rake in is enough to fund a commensurate amount of the national budget. FG has their short comings but the case of DISCO is like someone who wants to eat his cake and have it. FG has subsided cost of purchasing power yet these evil spirits will estimate bill to kill the populace. Trust me if Siemens will bill higher but we are enjoying 24hours, I would gladly pay. Some rooms let alone a full building pay 10k per month and they can't boast of 4hours electricity supply in a day. |

Adiahakiet: Congratulations to all those who got success mails. I lost out but life goes on guys. Jarus, xfire et al mbok advice a brother.
Am currently with ExxonMobil on graduate internship with the logistics department. There is assurance of conversion to contract after my program but still within logistics dept
Recently I got dangote fertilizer graduate trainee offer with a five year bond. I will be trained overseas and can only leave after five years.
I was thinking NNPC will come through but now I've got to make a choice.
I hold a first class degree in chemical engineering (2018) and am passionate about career.
What would you advice. Does working as a logistic personnel count as an experience, should I accept dangote offer. Am confused. please pardon my typo, am still basking in the euphoria of this heartbreak from NNPC
In terms of pay, Exxon pays above 500 as contract while dangote pays 180k after training. I feel for you and others in your shoe. You still need to appreciate God you have two key jobs at your desk. However, think about job security and opportunities both will offer. As for ExxonMobil, what is the duration of the contract? Let's start from here. |
