Go and read about the maxim gun, the British successfully destroyed those kingdoms due to superior firepower. The gatlin machine gun was used to defeat the Zulus, then they came again with a better mass destroyer the maxim gun. The samurais of Japan with all their swordsmanship and professionalism were cut into pieces by the machine guns.
The Benin's and all other native tribes like the Matabele of south Africa can't ever win such a war. They were all used to the breech-loading single shot rifle, and they know if they attack enmass they can overwhelm the british soldiers. But the machine gun was a weapon they had no answer to...no place to hide, the whole forest quakes and quivers, no shrub can hide you. Then Benin city was also bombarded with cannons from the port, the warriors had no answers to these. Japan fought ww2 gallantly but when the A bomb as thrown on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, there was no dilly-dallying...they surrendered.
Then Benin had just had a civil war between two brothers a few years before then, human and material resources had been lost in the war.
Though after the destruction of the capital, the villages of Benin and Ishan kept on fighting for another 7 years. The British had to resort to scorched earth warfare to win the war, the same method they used against the Boers to win the British Boer war
Well, that's no excuse to losing a battle. Why couldn't we make ours?

i think this is the right way to go , turn all the forest in the East to rice , palm , cassava , yam farms with processing factories employing thousands strategically located at the farms , The east will be self sufficient . and cost of food will be low.
Not all forest. Forest have their function in the eco system.

Statue of the Giant Arhuanran Of Udo

This giant statue was sculptured to the memory of Arhuanran{Goliath type stature}a very powerful warrior and ruler of Udo. Oba Esigie {About 1504-1550AD} ascended the Benin throne at the peak of a war threat from Udo. Esigie in Benin City and Arhuanran in the town of Udo, about 20 miles from Benin City to the northwest. Udo then, was an important centre almost as large and powerful as
Benin City. His brother Arhuanran who was tricked from ascending the Benin throne due to palace intrigues, decided to go into battle with the new Oba. The battle was fought and won by Oba Esigie. Arhuanran drowned himself in Lake Odighi N’Udo.

Chief Osemwughe the Iyase of Udo took arm again against the monarchial authority to avenge the defeat and the death of Arhuanran his master cut the victory celebration short.

Oba Esigie launch a war on Udo once again .Udo was destroyed chief Osemwughe and his rebel armies fled. West of Benin kingdom now part of Yoruba land.

Oba Esigie determine to put an end to Udo rebellion once and for all. Sent royal troops under the command of Odobo and Aile to pursue them in the process the Benins royal army builds military camps {Eko} along the way some of these camps {Eko} are now towns in Yoruba land.
Some of the Camps are camp Odobo {Eko-Odobo} name after general Odobo contracted into Akotogbo and camp Ikalo {Eko-Aile}name after general Aile was contracted to Ikale.

Osemwughe and his militants gave themselves up; when they could not face the war machines of the Benins royal troops much longer.

They were later given a royal pardons by Oba Esigie but decided not to return to Udo .chief Osemwughe and his party were called Emma n’ Udo{the Udo deserters} which was later contracted to Ondo and the leader of the militants chief Osemwughe was mispronounced Osemawe a title by which all Ondo monarchs are now known.

Igala were no match for the Benin, we had guns from trading with the Europeans and we were never defeated until the British shamelessly and cowardly attack when we were at the weakest point.
Which "weakest" point?

The British attacked with just a few hundred men and they ransacked the "town" of Benin and you are trying to excuse yourself by saying Benin was still it's weakest point. Lol!

Go read your history

Sttop being ignorant and shamelessly advertising it. Big brother is a good thing and it helps to provide a platform to groom youths interested in entertainment, unlock and unleash them. I used to be like you till I started watching the programme lately.

You people say it promotes immoral behaviour and nudity? Well, anyone that goes to big brother and decide to (of all opportunities available) be immoral and nude, that's his or her cup of tea. Talented young people like Frodd, Seyi, Khafi etc have used this to launch themselves. The entertainment world is waiting to snap them up immediately.

Even a fool like you should know that 60% of crimes in south west are committed by ibos. Your people just brought their baby factory to Lagos. A time is coming when you guys will be lynched here for all your sundry criminal activities. Every ibo man is a criminal.
My comment pain you sotey you no no when you put mouth!
You trying to absolve your tribe dickhead!

We wait for the lynching to commence. But I'll assure you that you will run when it starts. You will learn the igbo language by force when we descend on your slums. You can't even tame the hausas in Lagos and you want to "try" a sophisticated tribe like the igbos.
Attempt that but know this: your LAGOS would BURN! You think it's 1966. You no no today's date?

Ofcourse they will. Buhari is to be blamed since he was unable to provide a conducive business environment for them to conduct their international drug & armed-robbery trades.

Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Cambodia, UAE, Ghana, Benin Republic, Togo, South Afrika and very soon Kenya.

Now, we're beginning to get the true picture of what triggered the Xenophobia attacks in South Afrika.

I do not know the region that will field & produce the next President of Nigeria - but I do know the region that will never ever rule this Country till thy kingdom come.

It is a very smart thing to advocate for an utopian Country just to get a fresh start, especially when the international reputation & image of the Country you're seceding from have been soiled & debased mostly by the greedy & lousy people from your region, but since you think the rest of us in Nigeria are stupid, we will ensure that the only way your utopian Country will ever come alive is inside the anus of Lord Lugard.

You can never eat your cake and still have it.
I guess you are happy now with the epistle of hatred you just posted. Lazy boy!

Your region that's well acclaimed for cyber fraud and internet scamming and for your information; that crime isn't local but international.
Even a useless musical artiste from your region was nabbed by the efcc but the senseless youths from your region still glorified the crook/artiste.
You forget so soon that the crime in your region is more scarier than other regions (head hunting, ritual killings and forest filled with gruesome crime scenes).

If she ever said she was bigger than the organizers of the show, as was reported, then she already positioned herself for the disqualification. Pride is a ride to tears
It's all part of her intimidation strategy to win. Stop acting like you feel she really meant it. If she was actually that way from her acquaintance with bbn, the organizers wouldn't have allowed her nomination to the house.

When housemates were mocking her that she has body odour, why can't the organizer cautioned them or can you take such? If you have one terminal disease and you are being mocked, how will you feel? I don't blame her though.
Everyone forgot that other house mates actually made insults and sometimes spoke negatively at her.

How did the body odour comment come about?
If it came about through observation, why didn't the observer keep it to him/herself?
How many if us can keep mum when spoken about that way?
Even if she was rude and proud doesn't mean we should be also. It doesn't mean we ought to be hypocrites.

I'm just hearing this for the first time, that climate change is not a Nigerian problem so it's not our business.
Don't mind him! Ask him to give an answer to that question and he'll mix yoruba, pidgin and English languages together.

Worst of all is; even with the lingua mixture he would comfortably give a useless and wrong answer.

Haba! Nigeria. Youths are are just bereft of the ability to use their brains.
The mass movement of Fulani herdsmen you see and hear about is "also" a result of climate change. They move down south because of the available greenery we have here and shortage or desertification going on up north and other neighbouring Sahel countries.

The incessant rains and serious gully erosions witnessed in several parts of the nation is also s reason for climate change discuss.

The rising water levels and surges from the Atlantic ocean threatening Lagos is not just a local but an international problem.

It is true that we have a huge youth population, but most of them are ignorant, unintelligent and uneducated. The daft youths in this thread can not be the future of Nigeria, it's really embarrassing...
I knew the majority of youths in nairaland where going to be foolish in response to the way the President answered the question. It's just typical of the nairaland youth. They all think "one way" (the same way). Isn't that characteristic of zombies?
The Presidents answer was ok. It didn't need placing the word "youth" (as I believe most people on this forum expected) in all the statements he mentioned. Very few nairaland youths think out of the box. It's annoying and frustrating to see 95% of them thinking in similar fashion.

Anyway; it's quite normal to have such stats of individual who thinks alike because the reasonable ones are always few.
