Yet it receives zero attention from the federal gov't to assist it with its challenges!

If Onitsha could get just 50% of the funds and attention the federal gov't pumped into Lagos and Abuja, it would go a long way in helping to make it one of the best cities in Africa!

Yorubas are always prepared, let Igbos start another war and see the 1967 to 1970 Xmas party being replayed, this time, more brutal. You go to war to kill, steal and destroy. You don't go to war and start shouting genocide, that is the whole essence of war, to wipe out the enemy.

Of course being the medieval-minded thug you are you think there’d be a replay of the 67-70 uncivil war when you got away with rape, starvation as an instrument of war and targeting civilian non-combatants!

Dude, the world is more civilised than it was back then! Stop revelling in your past evil deeds, as it can’t happen again!

Pointless examples.

Although i prefer a restructured Nigeria than an independent Biafra, i viewed your issues as pointless because Nigeria would not have the same influence it has right now in ECOWAS without Biafra. It is like arrogating the power of the former USSR to Russia. The new Nigeria without Biafra will simply at best be as powerful as Ghana or Cote d'Ivoire.

That is assuming other ethnicities in the old eastern region (including the Ikwerre and Opobo) remain in Nigeria if only Igbos leave!

That being said, does anyone actually think the same power dynamics presently at play (where Igbo haters hold sway) would equally obtain in a Nigeria devoid of Igbos? I don’t see the likes of the Opobo sitting by and allowing the Fulani or Yoruba to frustrate our economy by blocking the shipping lane leading to the Atlantic!

These greedy, self-centred politicians should stop making it look like their personal, selfish ambitions are in tandem with the interests of Ndigbo as a whole!

For many years one Igbo or the other was Senate President....how did that change our fortunes for the better and bring Alaigbo up to pace in development with the likes of Dubai, Singapore and even little Rwanda!?

Good move! Let’s see where it all ends or if it’s just ‘hot air’!

Any move to restructure within the framework of ‘one Nigeria’ that, at the very least, doesn’t give component units the freedom to control their own resources and develop at their own pace, is just wasted effort!

mktinsight:
The ANSG doesnt know how to do waste management. No science whatsoever or planning. Yet its not that difficult.

The strategy of placing bins on the side of roads is primitive and has failed. What should happen is the state should levy all multi-tenant and commercial buildings and then use that waste revenue to pay any private operators that deliver waste to a large designated waste depot based on price per kilo. At the depot there should be premium paid for pre-sorted plastic, paper and aluminium waste which can be sold to recycling entities. For organic waste they should compost it and sell it on as fertilizer, others they can either burn or generate methane gas to run power for street lights

This kind of strategy will create SMEs in the waste business who assured of steady income would go round residential and commercial buildings to collect waste. It will also free up streets from the ugly receptacles with overflowing garbage that attracts rats.

Buildings should be levied waste fees based on estimated amount of garbage produced (in kilos). A 6 flat building generates roughly
60 kilos of garbage per week or 3 tonnes of garbage in a year. If the state levies each flat 1,000 per month then that is 25 naira per kilo of waste.

If it pays a waste company to deliver to its depot at 15 naira per kilo then every week an entrepreneur collecting waste from 10 buildings using a keke pickup can be paid around 9,000 naira. The entrepreneur can be paid a higher amount by sorting out plastic, paper and aluminium.

With this strategy waste will be cleared far more quickly from buildings than the present system. For markets, waste companies should bid with the state to evacuate waste to depots.

It’s not rocket science!

Sometimes i wonder the kind of people running our gov’ts in the south-east! They just don’t think outside the box! sad

It was just a matter of time! You can’t use your closeness to the corridors of power to give your company an edge over others forever....at some point, whatever shortcomings your business has would be exposed when the regulatory authorities demand to see your books!

Isn’t the CEO one of those always seen with Buhari on foreign trips when they want to push forward the ‘faces of corporate Nigeria’?

And people wonder why a evil entity such as Nigeria is yet to find its feet almost 60 years after independence! People wonder why this monster Lugard created in 1914 requires so much human blood on a weekly basis in order to sustain itself!

All this atrocities visited on a people, yet they get angry when we talk about it or honour the memories of millions of our kinsfolk killed in cold blood! No attempt at acknowledging the evil committed against easterners never mind expecting an apology and compensation! They would rather it’s all swept under the carpet as they point a gun at our head and demand we join them in shouting ‘one Nigeria’!

What’s going on in Nigeria today shows you can never run away from your past! It will surely catch up with you eventually and force you to face the demons you created like a man!
