I don't know about the said rumour, but don't you reason that there are no date on the pictures, so a picture could be from the past and cannot therefore be a good indicator to confirm or dispute the rumour you are insinuating about. Even those who have died still have pictures from their days of life. As far as it is not a picture from a dated event, you cannot say it was taken before or after.
