Lol see as u guys dey jones ursefs grin

Officially, they are up to 18... But unofficially some are not up to.

It is not the Government fault... The lads are just too eager to wear the uniform, carry gun and defend their fatherland grin

I would have post the pics of one of my extended little brothers who is presently in training at Deport NA.

All his life he has want to be in the military. He was even their Cadet IO in the Man O War group of his Secondary school.

The recruitment officers during their Zonal Screening knew he is not up to 18.
But he out put down 18. He blazed thru the screening process and the rest is now history.

When they pass out this December I will post his pics
thats if I am not already in training too. wink
Your extended brother's case is an isolated issue. Joining the military with a SSCE will actually give him no career advancement. His mate that proceed to college and join the same military in the next four years will easily out rank him.

You guys should have encourage him to at least get an OND cos they don't treat recruits in a respected way.

I refuse to believe that! How will they do it? Which sane parent in their right mind will send their children to join Army rather than go to college?

And the use of SSCE to join Nigerian Army has reduced to a very very minimal extent. In fact, I don't think they take SSCE nowadays. Most of those recruits you see there are people who have stayed at home for very long time unable to make it to college OR with at least, an OND result.

There are steep consequences if you are ever caught lying about your age or forging certificates during screening exercises.

The most common issue with age falsification in the military is actually deliberately lowering of age. You see a 30yrs old man claiming under 17. (Which is a Nigerian thing wink

Like I said the other day, the rate at which very young boys and girls enlists in the various arms of Nigerian military shocked shocked shocked.. it is really awsome.
If you think it is unemployment rate, you are sick in the head. Because what possible reason could this under 18s have that will make them want the job so bad... it can only be high sense of adventure and high sense of patriotism.

If you don't agree with me, argue with your cheap phone cheesy
There is no Under 18s in the Nigerian Army. This is Nigerian Army not some child soldiers group.

Heck, no sane military in the world employs underage fighters. It is illegal!

You’re talking completely off point buddy, check the post I mentioned then try again.

The dude I mentioned said a large population is an inhibitor to exporting goods, is that not foolishness ?
I am not talking off point.

The dude that said large population doesn't favor exportation of in-house produced goods is very myopic and stingy with the truth.

hahaha you're the one embarrassing yourself here China has the largest population in the world but is the world top exporter, in fact your large population is an advantage to be used as labor.

Top 3 exporting nations in the world (China, Japan’s and USA) all have larger populations that Nigeria.
Large population in smart nations is always advantageous; although it should still be properly controlled. The Achilles heel of Nigeria's large population is lack of planning and proper control. Otherwise, we should naturally be the largest exporter in Africa.

*Japan has lesser population than Nigeria, 127 million. They, however, compensate with heavy use of robots and machinery.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/news/2018/07/11/former-apple-employee-charged-self-driving-car-data-theft/774643002/

was almost a perfect getaway, but a former Apple employee was captured at the airport just before boarding a flight to China, after apparently stealing some of the tech giant's secret plans for self-driving cars.

When he booked a last-minute flight to China on July 7, Zhang was arrested at the San Jose International Airport by FBI agents. He has been charged with theft of trade secrets, according to a criminal complaint filed Monday in federal court in San Jose.

The intrigue began months ago. Hired in December 2015 to work on Apple's project to develop hardware and software for self-driving or autonomous vehicles, Zhang took paternity leave during April and traveled with his family to China, according to the complaint.

...the National Airline is coming back to life this years December and would reach about 30 aircrafts in 4 years. The beauty of democracy. Could u not be a hypocrite and let the chips fall were they may. Tell us why that is.
It is a great thing that Nigeria is re-floating her national airline. However, it is best the government have very little to with it if we wish it to be successful.

Nigerians tend to run government own business with impunity. Look at Ajaokuta, Nigeria Refinery in Kaduna and Porthacourt, Bacita Sugar factory in Kwara State, etc. And we are not even talking about Government ministries yet.

Lolzzzz u posted the pic of a Aghori sadhu
I had no idea. I attached the picture to buttress the point that ancient cultures existed where powerful men drink from Skull cup. I reckon they did so just to prove their masculinity.

Aghori sadhus don't strive for machoism , infact there is no word for it in the language.

Aghori sadhus worship Shiva their teacher whose one of the avatars is half man half women.

Ardhanarishwara is a composite androgynous form of the Shiva and his wife Parvati. Ardhanarishvara is depicted as half male and half female, split down the middle.

Ardhanarishvara represents the synthesis of masculine and feminine energies of the universe (Purusha and Prakriti) and illustrates how Shakti, the female principle of God, is inseparable from (or the same as, according to some interpretations) Shiva, the male principle of God. The union of these principles is exalted as the root and womb of all creation. ( Note the deep thought process ) there is no masculine or feminine here , they exist in unison .

Do u know according to modern science every male has varying degrees of feminine traits and every female has varying degrees of male traits.
So u see u have to understand the materialistic interpretation of the spiritual/religious analogue.
Indeed, this is a proof of a deep thought process. Even though it appears logical, obvious and straightforward to modern man, most ancient cultures managed to ignore the fact their is a bit of femaleness in every male and maleness in female.

Aghoris sadhus are devotees of Shiva manifested as Bhairava, and monists who seek moksha (liberation ) from the cycle of reincarnation or saṃsāra.

This freedom is a realization of the self's identity with the absolute. Because of this monistic doctrine, the Aghori sadhus maintain that all opposites are ultimately illusory.

The purpose of embracing pollution and degradation through various customs is the realization of non-duality (advaita) through transcending social taboos, attaining what is essentially an altered state of consciousness and perceiving the illusory nature of all conventional categories.
Deep!
When properly practiced, some religions actually enable people to make full use of their brain. While others actually are mortal threat to brain cells.

Sanatan dharma ( Hinduism ) is the only religion which allows all kinds of interpretation of God and the way to god. There is no hard and fast rule. If u don't believe in God and only karma that is good too.
.

So u see they r not even remotely associated with machoism.
True. I get it now.

For people with Abrahamic religious background all these r difficult to understand and therefore wrong interpretation r made. And frankly they don't want to , no reason for them . These practices will die out eventually or maybe not.

Indic religions like Buddhism , Sikhism jainism etc don't have any problems understanding becz they r derived from the same thought process.
Stuffs like this will be almost impossible to understand by someone with serious indoctrination from the Abrahamic religions.

Watch this really intense combat documentary from France24 and enjoy.

Colombian army

Watch FARC engage soldiers despite heavy air presence and win.

The Colombians had 3 armed helicopters and a bomber, yet the FARC still engaged forces. Killing 4 soldiers, 1 police and capturing a journalist according to the government. 17 soldiers KIA according to the FARC.

Intense!!!

It's strange how they sparsely return fire, maybe they are scared of mistakenly killing one another.

Nairaland ops and mods should learn greatly from this reportage. No gory pictures of littered mangled flesh fed to readers. No close up pictures of crashed vehicles with blood dripping all over.

The sensitivity and sensibility of the reader is respected. The dignity of the victims and their families is preserved.

May their beautiful souls rest in perfect peace.
We are tired of seeing gory pictures on NL.
