Congrats . Go and prosper Senorita123: I got admitted for MSC. Talking about profile, mine is not so great. To be sincere, I m not sure I met up with the dept requirement, I just risked it. It was GOD!! I had a second class lower (3.34/5), TOEFL 89 and GRE 307 (QR 157 and VR 150) plus 2 years teaching experience....that's all. Yea, I wont b needing a statement of account to get my i20 |

What's your profile like, did you apply for PhD directly? Did you have a very high GRE score and TOEFL score? Did you graduate with first class in your bachelor's degree. Big congrats to you. That means you don't need a statement of account to get your i20 since you got full funding . Senorita123: Applied natural resource econs...Yea, getting funding from MTU is very rare. I must confess that i wasn't even serious with the application because they hardly fund. I just applied since the app is free...I really can't explain what happened o seriously. |

Okay thank you for the feedback ILoveDLord: No I didn't get a supervisor.
My MSc is not thesis based, but course based. Per information from MUN, course based MSc is not eligible for university funding. I didn't want to go through the stress of seeking for university funding, even though I think I may have been qualified for it.
Also I wanted a programme that is fast track, shorter duration compared to a thesis based programme
So if you want funding from the university you will have to apply for a thesis based MSc or if you are going PhD you are eligible for funding too.
But one can still apply for scholarships from other sources once the program commences. |

Congratulations on your approval, did you get a supervisor before you applied for the program at MUN and did you get any scholarship or funding?. ILoveDLord: Merging Documents
Yes I did.
But please note, I do not think it's the best way to do it though. I mean merging other documents with CIC IMM documents. I think the IMM should be completed and attached alone.
In retrospect, I think the "Client Information should be a better place for all extra documents that are are not clearly called out in the tabs where documents are to be added.
At the time I did my application, I was not sure or did not know that all such documents should better be attached be attached to the "Client Information Tab". Even my SOP, initially I merged it with the my admission letter and other academic credentials and was ready to submit, when someone reviewed my application and advised that the SOP should be on the client information tab.
I left it that way still attached with the admission letter but went ahead to still attach the SOP to the client information tab. I did this because I was ready to submit the application and didn't want to start editing the documents all over.
So the only document I attached on the client information tab was my SOP.
I only did what I thought was reasonable at the time and posted it here, just for information. Fortunately it worked for me.
If ever you want to try what I did, please DON'T attach/merge any extra document with the IMM1294E form(that is the application for study permit form) I tried it by merging some documents. But when I uploaded it to the "IMM1294E document tab" it was rejected, that the document is not in the required format. I think my merging and saving in the format I did somehow affected the validation bar code on the form.
I used a combination of two apps, "pdf reader for Android" and "All pdf" both on my phone, for the merging, rearranging of pages etc. And then to reduce the size, I still those two apps. However when I needed to drastically reduce the size of the merged documents without affecting the quality of the documents, I used ilovepdf, an online tool for compressing documents
But of course, I had to use a laptop to fill the IMM forms. IMM forms are not readable on phones.
Upfront Medicals:
There was a specific tab for me to add upfront medical. I guess this was because I had indicated that I had done my upfront medicals when I was answering the preapplication questionnaire.
Pardon any typo errors. Sorry for the too much details, I'm just detail oriented. |

What is the implication of applying to only one school for graduate studies and also going ahead to apply for visa . I noticed most people apply to about three schools. Does it mean if you apply to just one school you won't be able to secure visa? |

Congratulations, what course are you going for? dele31: Hello guys.
I just got admission into North Carolina State University for a masters program. I didn't write GRE as I used the MSc. degree I had before as part of my supporting documents. On the admission letter, it was like a conditional admission as it was clearly stated that I have to pass a certain course within my first 2 semesters. Although, the supervisor I secured already promised me funding but its like it will be difficult with a conditional admission. My questions are these:
1. I have been sent the the sponsors form for the I-20 form stating clearly that I should attach an account containing about $30,100. I am not going to fund myself but i can run around to secure one but may not be that of any of my relative with same name, will I not run into trouble securing visa as a result of a conditional admission?
2. I am above 35yrs still going for an MSc. won't there be a great challenge defending that during visa interview.
3. Is it advisable to continue with it because I don't want to put much effort and get disappointed after.
Please guys, advise me. |

Congratulations, may the land favour you DrMrsCK: Chai! I missed page 1? My PPR will be in this part 7. Meanwhile, posting this for my friend...
I want to share my story to encourage someone The taught about relocation to Canada was initiated in early 2015 by my Hubby's friend who had just relocated to Canada. At first I refuted the idea cos I just started a new business and my master's degree program. I imaged dropping them just like that. However, after must pressure and explanation from hubby I gave in, then the journey started. I decided to follow it through two strategies: firstly to write my licencing exams from naija and get a job n migrate, secondly, to go through express entry.
In December 2015, I wrote my first ielts. It was a terrible experience. I came to the exam hall by 8.45am only to meet a closed exam hall. We were abt 25 candidates who came late. The examiner asked us to go, after much pleading we were allowed to enter the hall, but our listening was conducted separate. I didn't do well at all cos of I was tensed.
Then in 2016 I started again with 2nd ielts ( LRWS 7.5,6.5,7.5, , document evaluation, online classes for licensing exams and exam registration. I then applied for Canada visa to go n write the exam but was rejected twice n I missed the exam. I was depressed. At that point we decided to quit the process n focus in naija.
However, in 2017 we decided to just enter the pool. Our crs score was 395, I decided to leave it like that and continue my life hoping that one day the score will drop.
In Jan 2018, my Hubby's colleague told him that his is relocating to Canada with his family next month. That news made my hubby to start having a rethink abt continuing but I convinced him otherwise n told him that we should remain focused on our new year resolution, so he agreed. Then 2 weeks later a customer told me she was relocating to Canada too in May. This news woke me up from my slumber. Then we decided to start all over. At this point I surfed the net to find out ways to improve my scores. My hubby did ielts n document evaluation. My ielts journey began again in 2018 3rd ielts attempt march 24 LRWS 6.5,7,6.5,7 4th attempt May 24 LRWS 7,7,7,7 Then I took I month leave to study, I read every every, full of confidence. I booked two exams one week apart. Hoping that one must be good as I was determined to enter Canada by all means 5th attempt June 30th LRWS 8,7,6,7 6th attempt July 7th LRWS 8.5,7,6.5,7 I wept bitterly at this point, hw with encouragement from family n friends I was more determined. Then my brother in-law paid for my 7th attempt to encourage me. I read my ass out, hired a tutor to Mark my essay wrote over 50 essays as I figured out that writing was my problem. I even did group reading with an old friend who was also writing ielts to make sure I pass( u know that feeling when someone is paying you don't want to fail). I also tripled my prayers. 7th attempt August 18th LRWS 9,8,6.5,7.5 At this point I didn't cry neither was I depressed I decided to quit, perhaps Canada is not for me. My friend talked said one word that struck me " I don't know abt you but am not quitting " . then I decided to do it one last time. She also told me abt mod ielts I decided to give it a trial as its been BC all along. My brother in-law paid for my ielts again, then I booked the exam. I had only a week to prepare. At that point I decided to stick to only one technique. I also applied for EOR . 8th attempt 8th September mod LRWS 8.5,7.5,7,7.5 This was the turning point I updated my profile on 2nd Oct my score rose to 470 ITA 3rd Oct AOR 28th September Passed medicals 7th jan 19 Biometrics 10th Jan 19 PPR on 24th Jan 19 Submitted passport on 28th Jan 19 Passport ready on 16th Jan 19 Collected passport on 18th Jan
I thank God for every thing, n all my family n friends especially nairalanders your stories n suggestions were really helpful. Don't give up your miracle is on the way. |
