Education / Re: Happening Now At Benue State University by xcitedjay(m): 2:55pm On Feb 16, 2018

the protest should be channeled to the governor not the school. the school has tried for them sef.
how can they not pay the session fee all these while from 1st semester till the second semester and about writing exam. (in my school, FedUni, we pay school fees even before registrations and accessing the school portal). Now they are at the hard side because they will still go behind in their calendar (2016/17 session) and still pay the money.

what they are doing seems to me to be like.
entering Benue links car from Abuja to Makurdi and telling the driver that Ortom has not paid your father, so you don't have the tp....

Very wrong analogy. Education in Nigeria is now a life or death situation which can't be likened to traveling from one point to another.

You don't know what it's like being in their shoes until you wear it. I suggest you're silent about the suffering of others if you can't contribute positively, least God might decide to take away whatever privileges you think you're presently enjoying. Better be humble, it's not a competition between you and them or Fed Uni and State Uni. These guys are just trying to survive the present situation in the country.

Don't mind the ineffectual buffoon. To think that he is not elated that the WIFE is still breathing speaks a lot. A hot slap to hot wire his brain will go a long way.

You're obviously a kid who don't know what it takes to run a family. You will leave your father's house one day and start paying rent. Maybe then you'd know better than kicking a man who is already down. Your insults and negative filled comments are evident of your poor upbringing.

Car Talk / Re: Metal Grinding Sound From Engine Compartment by xcitedjay(m): 10:13pm On Nov 15, 2017
The way I see it you have 3 options.

1. Change engine (Half or Complete engine) - Expensive but Reliable
2. Rebuild engine (Change oil pump, Main bearing and Crankshaft) - Less expenses but not that reliable.
3. Park car till month end then Option 1 or 2.
Phones / Re: Airtel Introduce New Unlimited Plans | Must Read by xcitedjay(m): 7:46pm On Aug 18, 2017
inscreAF:

People keep complaining about Airtel's double billing on data yet others still subscribe to their data plans.. If you don't want to subscribe for 10gig and only get to use 7.5 gig out of it stay AWAY from airtel. Simple

I hate it when I read stuffs like this. Someone is trying to demand for accountability from a company operating in Nigeria and you decide to be insensitive just because you think you have some free money now. Anyway, I don't wish someone else shuts you down tomorrow if you get scammed in this same country since you could have simply stayed AWAY.

I am about to pay for a Civic 03, I noticed the D light blinking.
Called "kazeem", he said the gear needs servicng that the oil isn't "guaged".

Oga Gazuz said d blinking is a fault on the gear, any idea where I can scan this car in Abuja or an affordable device to buy to determine the real problem.

This would go a long way for me in buying this car

There's this place they call Honda Line in Apo mechanic village. There's a workshop there that specializes in fixing gearbox issues when you take the turn by the Police sign post on the road.

kingreign:

Scarr, a car in limp mode has a serious issue unaddressed that's why the onboard computer decides to limit available power delivered to the driver so as to take the car quickly for an emergency work.

Don't underestimate a blinking D light. It clearly shows previous owners care free attitude.

I've had my car go into limp mode after washing the engine. The car just refuses to go into higher gears above gear 2 i think. Oily substance was stuck on one of the sensors on the gear, cleaned it and the blinking D was gone.

Just know that as far as the gear doesn't slip, enters reverse gear and transitions smoothly then it isn't a serious issue. I can count the number of things in that car that will make you spend more than 20k.
Car Talk / Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by xcitedjay(m): 6:58pm On Jul 12, 2017
Honda Civic is one of the most reliable cars I've ever owed. Almost zero maintenance plus the parts are cheap. Engine is not expensive and neither is the gearbox. Whatever the problem with the Civic be rest assured that it won't drain your pocket. The reason the car is not going beyond a certain speed is because it is in limp mode. It's likely just a minor issue with the gear.

@Carpenter @Ernie4life Thanks for your immense contribution on this thread.

is it advisable to go into Mutual Fund in 2017?

FBN MMF customer care is annoyingly too slow, is there a better Mutual Fund Company with less complexity and better customer service?

Investnow2017:
A friend invested 10m on Treasury Bill at 17.7% for one year. On getting the interest he bought another TB for another 1yr Tenor. He hopes to buy another with his interest. It seems to me this is another way to add value to one's principal going forward. Will this yield better than if he has bought some mutual money market fund at 18% yield?
Can the gurus in the house throw light on this please.

It depends.

While I'm by no means an economist or investment analyst, I'm going to be giving a simple answer based on my limited understanding of the market.

Yields in money market fund fluctuates daily. It might be 16.5% today or 19% tomorrow. With Treasury Bill you're assured of whatever rate you purchased the bill for the period.

Good Morning guys

Please help, am confused here. I feel I was cheated.

I went to GTB and requested to invest 200k in TB for 91 days and I was debited 193,318. Please at what rate was the transaction?

Thanks

Your 200k would have been more profitable to you in a Money Market Fund

I've owned a Civic 2 years plus. And I'd advice you to go for the Civic.

It's 99% reliable, almost maintenance free, high fuel economy and parts are so cheap that the some dealers can even give you for free.

How much can I get an OBD II scanner?

You can get something small and personal for less than N20k.

Serious scanners can be as expensive as N300k.
Car Talk / Re: Why Is VSC Showing On Dashboard? by xcitedjay(m): 10:49am On Nov 15, 2016
Greene66:

1. There is no VSC button

2. What is the ECU?

3. It's a Toyota Camry

I'm no mechanic. Just drive. So don't blame my ignorance

ECU - Engine Control Unit

Since there's a check engine light, it means your vehicle is trying to tell you something.
You need to scan it to get that message.
Car Talk / Re: Why Is VSC Showing On Dashboard? by xcitedjay(m): 12:16pm On Nov 14, 2016
Vehicle Stability might have been turned off either by the VSC button or by the car's ECU.

I'm guessing the car is a Honda.

3.5L V6 368hp 2010 Toyota Camry.

I never thought a common Kia would have that kind of power to disintegrate the Camry, that Kia has a 274hp I4 turbo.

The car wowed me when it kept up with me at 160km/h. Well have known now not to underestimate any car, I also nearly made same mistake when I wanted to race with a first generation sienna against one old model BMW V8. I didn't even know anything about it until someone posted classic cars and I saw the BMW car among them.

It's actually a 268hp engine.

They are a bit more complicated than their Toyota counterparts. Also not as reliable. Lastly, its parts are expensive. I use one btw.
Car Talk / Re: Toyota Camry Muscle Vs. Honda Accord Evil Spirit by xcitedjay(m): 4:27pm On Jun 11, 2016
The Evil Spirit's driver and front passenger's seat isn't too comfortable but you don't wanna be too comfortable when with the kinda of power the Honda has.

Maintenance is another issue when it comes to the Evil Spirit but it makes up for that in Luxury, Balance and Handling. Not to forget it's lovely interior.

Personally, I think the Muscle doesn't have as much grip on the road as the Evil Spirit does.
