Yes, OBJ is corrupt as he also engaged in many conflict of interests acquisitions and crony capitalism while in office. But Yaradua reversed the sale due to pressure from NLC and to also appear independent. The idea that OBJ's blind trust's share in Transcorp which happens to be the minority shareholder in the BlueStar consortium was responsible for the cancellation is gross misunderstanding of the issue. If it was the case, other acquisitions by Transcorp during the period would have also been reversed. |
Since declaring martial law is not a crime, they have now resorted to using anti-corruption agency as fall back. The guy was impeached for attempting martial law and not for any corruption issue. That is the problem with presidential system, it often promotes excessive power grabbing. Such issue can never come up with the parliamentary system of government. As to the OP talking about "saner clime". The point is that the man was impeached successfully and trying to copy or compare the worse from others is a failure's refuge. |
justmondris:It is a state case, he can't pardon himself. |
puku902:White worshipper. I am sure your reaction will be different if Tinubu was the one to be sentenced while in office. And he didn't win landslide, go check the meaning. Even if he won by landslide, he is still a criminal. And this is a state case, so I don't see why bringing Biden into it. Trump is already a convicted felon. What normally follow is sentencing. |
Samynet:Because your god is about to be sentenced? |
Emeskhalifa:Yes, democrats forced him to commit a crime. Or are you angry because a white man-god is about to pay for his crimes? |
Your analysis only make sense in a neutral situation e.g Buhari vs GEJ 2011. In the current climate, economic crisis is already a big minus for Tinubu in every region. Coupled with the fact that he has no absolute majority support in the South, unlike OBJ and GEJ. Even if he wins the NC, he must find a way to win over the other southern region or be lucky that they decide to massively boycott the election. Unfortunately, he is not making any effective move to get less dislike by the other southern region's public. Hence, even if he can't win there, he must get substantial votes in NW and NE. So, his only pathway to victory is to divide the votes among opponents as much as possible even more so than the 2023 elections. |
Stop being childish. There is still a pending case at the supreme court. Even the status quo favor the 27 lawmakers as they are currently the legal house. |
BERNIMOORE:What is the injustice in sentencing an armed robber? It is a shame that the country is celebrating a crook, not even a repentant one. His fellow gang member is still in jail because he unlike this lucky one, he was a full adult at the time of the crime. |
How many times will you guys order the same thing? https://guardian.ng/news/buhari-orders-teaching-of-history-as-standalone-subject/ |
Karlifate:Not a dime has been made yet. In business, profit is production cost minus revenue. Currently, it is still deep in negative. |
zero8zero:Tinubu did nothing. Absolutely nothing. Kyari made a promise based on false projection. He is not the first person to undershoot timeline for public project completion. There are countless examples in every country. I am sure if Buhari didn't hurriedly commission Dangote's refinery, you would have been telling us how Tinubu's pressure and influence made it work even though he didn't fund it. |
CoolAmbience:This is not my turf but How can he quote a new law for an old crime. Does that make sense to you? |
Tayorshd87:You are simply ignorant. It is not a template. It has nothing to do subsidy removal. Buhari funded the contract. Bow that he achieved the refinery u don't want to credit him but this time you guys are fast to credit Buhari for that 😂😆He didn't achieve anything. He is merely the man in office when the contract was concluded. He contributed nothing to the refinery's revival. Only illiterates have a hard time understanding this simple concept. |
Lithiumite:He could but he didn't. He who funds a project, owns it. Merely being in office when it was completed doesn't confer the legacy on Tinubu. If he were to sign and fund a contract for Ajaokuta steel revival, it won't matter whether it was completed during his term in office. Take the coastal highway, supposed it was mostly funded and 70% completed before someone else takes office, does it make sense crediting such a person with a project they didn't meaningfully contribute to? To me, it is Tinubu's regardless of who is in office when completed. |
AllenSpencer:It is "organic". What you imagine to be organic is likely different though. Even if we are to remove all farmers cutting corners from the organic industry, no commercial food products can meet the publics ideal of what organic products are supposed to be. Either grow yours or manage the commercial, more expensive, organic. |
Ofemannnu:This is funny. I supposed this is the reason Buhari rushed to commission Dangote's refinery because someone else may claim the credit even though they never contributed. Is it working now during Tinubu's govt?It is not about working or not working. It is about funding and sometimes conception. I credited Buhari because he spent the most money on it even though he didn't start it. What exactly did Tinubu do to revive the refineries since being sworn in? Who started telecom journey in Nigeria, who took credit for it being operational? There is no "telecom journey". That is too broad. There was landline(NITEL and predecessor) and there is GSM. Everybody knows who initiated the opening up of Nigeria to GSM technology. No contest here. Only kids will credit OBJ with telecoms. Adults will talk about GSM. Suppose Tinubu couldn't complete Lagos-Calabar highway for whatever reason, then someone after few months in office now commission it. Does it make any sense to credit such office holder with a project in which their contribution is little to nothing? |
ogbonti:You are not suffering when you have options. There are organic farm products all around you unless you can't afford them. If that is the case, then you should be grateful for the cheap foods and not demonizing it. |
SKhanmi:Shouldn't you know the meaning of a word before using it? |
Omoboricash:The "working" refineries are Buhari's legacy and not Tinubu. So, I don't see how Awolowo and MKO comes into the picture. |
It is better not to count your chickens before they hatch. I would wait 2 years to see if the refineries are profitable. |
EmekaA125:The question seem valid to you because like most Nigerians you don't understand how government work. You think allocations or derivations are gift from the federal government to state governments. No, they are not gifts or favor. They are legal rights. Whatever an entity choose to do with those rights is none of your business as long as they are not violating your own right. A state government is free to use its allocation for whatever it deemed fit, even if it will make you angry. You are not owed an explanation outside of legal requirements. You have a recourse though, you may politically organize to challenge the incumbent so you can do "things" with the "huge" money assuming you are from such state. |
omooba969:I actually know more about the case than you can imagine. If you are observant and take your time to read beyond headlines, you would have known that the Nigerian media is 99% gutter journalism, it lends itself to extreme sensationalism and misleading claim that would make gossip tabloids look decent. She moved some millions ministry's money into the private instead of corporate account of a "consultant". That is why she was sacked. The practice, while illegal according to ministry rule, have been going on for years in same ministry and others. The few media houses that include the actual infraction in their articles, only did so in one or two lines. While the rest of the article is filled with innuendos, suppositions and unrelated filler facts so the readers can fill in the missing piece. If she could be charged with any crime, it is "attempted embezzlement" which is an unknown "crime". If a prosecutor was to want to make example of her, he will need a self-incriminating evidence where the suspect categorically states under oath that she intends to steal the money, otherwise she walks. Any baby lawyer could get her off the hook. |
Here we go again. Man of the year is not the same thing as the Best or good man of the year. It simply means the most famous/influential/impactful(positive or negative) man of the past year. You can only complain if an unknown character is crowned as one. What the winners did doesn't matter, it just have to be impactful. |
sapele914:That is none of your business unless you are from an oil state and even in that case you can only question your own state government. |
omooba969:Embezzlement? It is impossible to convict her of such. She was sacked for violating financial rules. |
koIe:Immunity, I am sure you already know. Imagine comment on national televisionAre you concerned about the comment or the target of the comment. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:How much is the bounty placed on the ISIS leader by Russia, China or Iran? Absolutely none. You cannot expect your enemy to help you fight those you consider evil. They don't owe you anything. I expect you to start pushing for the good countries of Russia, China or Iran to place a bounty on the terrorist. Meanwhile, Russia, the great anti-terrorist fighter state is negotiating to give billions of dollars in bribe to Syrian terrorist leaders so it can keep its naval base. This was the same terrorist Russia was bombing less than a month ago. |
But one of the product of the theft(Fubara) is now the "people's" governor. This goes to show that you don't really care about stolen votes. It is all noise. |
Lies. He is just sending wild stories out there to see which one would stick. The attached pic, which can be typed and printed in a neighborhood center has nothing to do with bank accounts. |
Egungun be careful. GEJ formula may or may not work. But GEJ had a two-third southern majority, and dependable north central. Fingers crossed. |
