Since you haven't seen the movie, why did you say it was over-hyped?

I understand your point. But you don't seem to get my point. If I give you a birthday gift of N50k. Is it legal for you to be taxed for receiving that money?

Also note that only profit can be taxed. If you invest N200k (capital) in a business and it yielded N220K (profit + capital). Only the N20k profit can be taxed.
Anything can be made legal by legislators.
If you look at things in a rigid manner you might think it is impossible to tax any income apart from profit.
In system where taxes work, gift, inheritance are not exempted from taxes.
There need not be "profit" for their to be a tax, having an income is all that is needed.
Take civil servant for instance, they are not making profit in strict business sense but are being taxed.

It applies to any income(freewill or payment). If you pay for a service,
the money is no longer your own, so I see no reason why anyone will
fight for a money that is no longer theirs.

BetaThings:
Christians believe in one man, one woman and, similarly, one country, one religion (Christianity)
All the posturing about secularity of Nigeria is just that - posturing
What do you believe in?
Multi-religion?

Can any Christian now convince me that Dr Bello's use of Hijab has now turned her into an extremist or tainted the excellent academic standards of OAU?
Dr Bello will become an extremist when she choose to force her hijab on an organization
that doesn't permit such e.g NBA.

Now we have proof that the wearing of Hijab does not hinder anything in the university
What "proof" do you have?

Yet Christians can spend their entire Saturday and Sunday in Church
And they talk about Islamization
How is it your business the number of hours a person decide to spend in church,
do you want to start regulating an individuals right to spend their time as they wish?
SMH.

The tradition in Nigeria was for government workers to come to work on Saturdays
Gowon changed that and increased the number of hours worked on Mon-Fri
That is islamization, isn't it?

It was the tradition to drive on the right hand side of the road, we changed it in 1972, did we not?
Gowon's change and right hand drive has nothing to do with what a medieval arab idol
and his prophet commands.

They never do. Their objection is fueled by abnormal hatred for Islam and they call their religion Christian love
I am yet to see mosque being blown up by people who supposedly hate you.
The same can't be said about the peaceful Boko harams and ISIS.
Even your scripture is full of hatred for infidels. You don't qualify to label
others as hateful.

Will they not ponder and change?
No, the world won't be cowered into adopting your religious symbol.

By the way they no longer see beard as a weird or ugly since it has become a fashion
Unlike when it was a near Muslim-only thing a few years back
At no time was beard a muslim-only thing. Even today some beard disqualifies from
getting a job in some professional setting.

Nobody sees anything wrong in Michael Jackson's trouser that did not reach the ankles, when a Muslim wears a trouser like that......
This crying is too much. People have a right to judge what they like and don't like.
Nobody owes you acceptance, when you make a choice, you bear the consequence.
There is no right to be loved, you aren't some cute puppy that should be adored
just because you grow beard and your trouser is short.
If you take your time thinking this through you would have realised that rich and
influential people don't get the same backlash as ordinary people when they do
something wrong.

I ask my Christian friends who preaches to me, do you want me to convert and become intolerant like you? If, as a Muslim, I don't have issues with the dressing of nuns, why would I like to become a Christian and start objecting to the dressing of Hijabites?
Intolerance?
Is this what you guys now discuss in your gatherings?
Patting yourself on the back for being tolerant?
I think I need to update my dictionary.

Tolerance also means staying in your lane and not trying to
force your way on others. Hijabites should steer clear of organizations
who don't want masquerade-style dressing.

Okay let me get you now, are you saying that an income I already pay tax on, once I donate a portion of it (disposable income) to the church or charitable organization, it has to be taxed?
And if by mistake it is taxed, it doesn't amount to double taxation?
Any income you used in payment or donation is no longer your own.
You are not being taxed(double), it is the recipient that is being taxed.

U see the different when a Professor writes. this is informative, easier to read and understood even to those who have been blinded by their hatred for hijab. With this great piece,I'm sure non Muslims with common sense will agree that putting on hijab is just our way of life and not only Muslim way of life but also Mary the mother of Jesus.

Islam has faced alot of discrimination, they fight us in silence but when we speak, they call us terrorist. We aren't asking for much,we are just asking for the freedom of using our hijab. If athletes in Olympics can conveniently wear hijab and perform well, then hijab will never reduce the performance of anyone in any profession.
Stop playing the victim card. It is your type that encourage Boko haram.

Dude, you say what?

Double taxation is paying taxes on an income that has been taxed already...
Don't try to argue a point you don't understand.
When you donate to a church, it is no longer your money, it is the church's
money, you can't be taxed on a money that isn't yours to begin with.

All income have already been taxed. Even if you work for a company.
The company's customer were taxed before buying their products and that doesn't
exempt your company from being taxed. If you still don't get it, please use google.

That's right. But in the case where I gave you some money (freewill), should that money be taxed?

Bottom line is we need to be careful to differentiate what is taxable from what shouldn't be taxed. Taxing free will donations would amount to double taxation
Double taxation means you were taxed twice.

When money leaves your account, it is no longer your
money, so you are not being taxed, the recipient is the
one being taxed.

Why not let her go now that she's young so she can move on with her life and find someone that would love and appreciate her? If you don't see a future with her, stop wasting her time or at least let her know that the relationship won't go beyond dating and sex.

I agreed with you until I got to the last two paragraphs. A relationship is not a business venture or a form of occupation, anybody can call it off without having to compensate the other financially. What I don't support is wasting a person's time if you dont see a future with him or her. If it was the girl that wants to break off from the relationship, will you be suggesting that she compensates the guy?
Relationships are business even though most people deny it is not.
No sane person will chase a man or a lady unless they will benefit from the
relationship.
It is clear who is at a loss in this transaction, the girl who was being fooled.
The Op don't have to compensate her for anything but the reason why he opened

Too scared? Scared of who?
I'm agnostic, Warren buffet is agnostic, Neil D'grasse Tyson is agnostic and many others and you think we are all stupid and scared? I wonder where all of you get these information you spew on nairaland.

Agnosticism is a position of knowledge while atheism is a position of belief, how hard is it for you to understand?
Infact in reality everybody is agnostic (thats if we dont lie to oursleves) because the existence or non-existence of God is not known but is only either believed or not.

If you say you know God does not exist, you are a liar because evidence can only point you to belief God's non-existence same thing goes for people who say God exists. You cannot know, you can only believe or not believe based on facts you've seen.

If i tell you there is a coffe cup at jupiter and you look through your telescope and you do not see any evidence of civilization or life that might have produced a cup there. It is then rational for you to say you dont believe it but it is impossible for you to know if it is there or not until you go to jupiter and see for yourself. Get it now?

Cc: Sapiosexuality

Atheism deals with belief
Agnosticism deals with knowledge
In reality we are all agnostic, both theists and atheists because none of use knows if God exists or not but we can belief or disbelief his existence based on facts which appeal or do not appeal to us.
Stop contradicting yourself, if agnosticism is a position of knowledge, how can
you call yourself an agnostic when asked if you believe in a god?

If I don't believe in tooth fairies and I don't know if tooth-fairies exist does
it make sense to call myself agnostic instead of a-tooth-fairian?

When you are asked a direct question, do you believe in god/gods if your
answer is no, you are an atheist, beating about the bush by claiming agnostic
does not answer the question posed.

All those prominent people you mentioned are practically atheists but choose
to use a milder word for reasons best known to themselves. That is why I
am not surprised when some online ignorant religious websites use them as examples
to slight "atheists" as if they believe a virgin can give birth, Muhamad rode a
flying horse and that Yahweh created the universe.
Saying we are all agnostic and some people are lying to themselves is arrogance on your part
because you are claiming to know people more than themselves.
An agnostic wouldn't give out 10% of his salary every month, neither will an agnostic
blow himself up for a paradise that he is not even certain of. It takes a person who
knows for sure to engage in such actions.

While most atheist may be agnostic most theists(ask them to find out) are gnostic.
