Imo state is in the news again over the requirements which a groom recently presented to his bride's family for their marriage introduction.

According to MC Emmydon, an eyewitness who was shocked by what he saw, his friend (the groom) bought various sets of wrapper, bags of rice, drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic among others things which he gave his partner's family for their wedding introduction on Sunday, January 6th. 

He also revealed that these were required from the groom aside the bride price which was later paid to the lady's family.

The report has sparked mixed reactions from Nigerian internet users, with some lamenting over the "large" requirements.

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has again tackled former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his endorsement of Atiku Abubakar, his former deputy and now presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after painting him as villain for a long time.

Soyinka, who spoke alongside key dignitaries and stakeholders like Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, during a panel discussion on ‘Beyond Fake News’, put together by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), said the former president acted in a manner that promoted confusion and fueled fake news.

“[i]A former leader picks on a character for the better part of eight years that he ruled, calling him Lucifer. He continues after office saying same. Then all of a sudden, he suddenly says ‘This is your saviour’. What should you make of such a person?” [/i]Soyinka asked.

The event was organized by BBC to sensitise the public on the dangers of fake news, especially as the country would soon go into general elections.

Soyinka further stated that he had been a victim of fake news recalling how people twitted that he once called wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, an illiterate, and denied ever making such statement.

“[i]I saw it in one of the social media platforms where a quote was attributed to me that I said it serves Jonathan right that he married an illiterate woman. I have never made any comment on this woman,” [/i]Soyinka said.

He stressed that efforts must be made to get creators of social media platforms like Facebook to check abuses leading to fake news on the social media, even as he recalled another incident involving a certain Nigerian resident in the US (names withheld), who reportedly created a facebook account in his name with which he allegedly made money from unsuspecting members of the public.

He said the police in Nigeria were unhelpful in the matter, recounting that a petition sent to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) on the matter had gone unanswered, even as he narrated efforts through private investigation to unmask the said character.

A woman just got her new year gift, as she reportedly gave birth to quadruplets after years of bareness and search for child.

The woman identified as Alore Khadijat, gave birth few days ago to a set of quadruplets (all boys) after many years of bareness. She is said to be in good health with her babies.

This is coming few months after it was reported that a Nigerian woman identified as Yeyeluwa Oluwatoyin Ashabi gave birth to quadruplets – 3 boys and 1 girl – after being called a “barren woman.”

She shared her story on Instagram, recounting how for so long she wanted only 1 boy. However God gave her 3 boys, together with 1 girl.

Sanusi told us as CBN governor that the government of Jonathan Was seriously killing the economy because of looting and recklesness going then, they removed him. Soludo told us that any body that will rule this country from 2015 will find it difficult to the extent he may resign because of the wastage going on in the country under Jonathan government, they ignored him. Okonjo Iweala serving under Jonathan Stated it far back in 2014 that the country was technically on recession, that they were already borrowing to pay ordinary salaries, that the foreign reserve was being squandered even with the earnings of huge dollar income from crude oil prices then, she also supported soludo that Nigeria will be too difficult for any body to govern from 2015, they ignored her.

Then come your number two man Peter obi in his interview shortly before he joined PDP in 2014, stated categorically that the government of Jonathan Was a a serious waste and should not have been part of Nigerian history. He said that under PDP that the country did not achieve any of the millennium development goals let alone talking of sustainable development goals. he said that the economy was in a very terrible state and was heading to recession.

I just mentioned these few people without the statements of other well concerned Nigerians and other foreign experts because of time. You know if those were prophets, today, people would have been competing for space in their various churches with the notion that they speak and dine with God direct. So lets face the fact, God knew where we were headed and he brought one of the very few disciplined Nigerians like buhari to help return us to stability. It might take sometime because it has always been more difficult to repair than to damage.
