Here in Australia, I tell my colleagues what they want to hear... The belief Africa is a country, we still live in huts, wild animals like lion and leopard roam the streets... Etc
On my own, I no de disappoint... Seee stories wey I de give them during lunch breaks and they look on their faces. Eg of my stories wit a little of that holiwood Zulu accent... How my grand father killed a lion with just a fabricated weapon, how we used to treak very long distance to go to school, how my cousin had to pay bride price by receiving 300 strokes of flogging, how we were initiated into the masquerade cult plus requirements and funny tasks, how girls use to walk around naked until they are married, how my mom had 10 kids, how ur wealth is calculated by yams and wifes, how we wrestle during moonlights and how my brother defeated the undefeated champion, how we used to go to the forest to hunt and gather wild fruit, how we used local aphrodisiac and had erection for days... Etc with funny names attached to my characters. I de plan to begin charg them grin grin grin

Many of the Polish people are not racists. They believed all African men have big gbola and sex is free in Africa. They believe it's natural for African men to last an hour or more during sex. They still have some funny stereotypic ideas about Africans, some of them still think Africans live in the forests, that is why many of them find it hard to believe me when I tell them that I saw lions, wolves and elephants for the first time in my life here in Warsaw! They don't even know if there's any country called Nigeria, either you're from Somalia,Zimbabwe or Rwanda, all they know is you're an African.
A big challenge here is that Polish government didn't have any plans to integrate the Africans into the Polish society. There are no projects by the government to help in this integration process, unlike what Germany and UAE is doing at the moment. The African community here in Poland are simply on their own. We learn what we learn, and achieve what we achieve just on our own. There is little or no recognition of our presence here whatsoever. Even after securing a working permit, most companys still demand an attestation letter from your consulate.
I work in a concrete manufacturing company. In my company, they believe I don't have to wear safety gadget before entering the plant because I'm an African, they believe I have a natural immunity to acid and chemical inhalation. They believe we are naturally strong and we shouldn't care about our health.
Incidentally, the African community will for ever remain here in Poland. We will continue to grow in numbers. Many good ones will keep arriving every year.
If you have a valid residency or a working permit here, and you don't pass your boundaries, if you don't beat chest or involve in any illegalities, generally Polish are friendly.
I hope u are giving them hot hot with your big gbola too

Prince Edward Island Canada, largely white, strongly Christian Baptist but with tenacious appreciation of diversity and an awakening fascination with multiculturalism, it's been sublime wearing off almost to the boringly plaid. Everyone largely buggers off minding their business till you tick them off and still get lightly brushed off.
Racism if at all, gets nervously passed across in well-couched in awkward humor or deference.

Being largely surrounded by water, relaxation by way of tourism revolves around more waterside attractions for me though its friggin' cold here, single digit heading to zero for a bit now infact. embarassed

You get peeps here who largely don't know and couldn't give a flippin crap where you're from until you start chilling together and you tell them experiences and realities from here and they start acting like you're from a real-life wakanda or something. And that's a real blessing considering that the stench of Nigeria's shitty rep hasn't preceded one here as with other places. And thank God say boys neva reach here to begin dey show dem pepper and you'd hardly hear say anyone be yahoo-yahoo victim. I do thanksgiving for that everyday that I'm not getting heavily stereotyped and hanged socially for some other id1ots crimes.

Covid-19 Work-From-Home adjustments have introduced some interestingly new dynamics into life here in one being more house-bound than before.

One other interesting thing's all the Band-8 IELTS wahala left me with a somewhat anticlimatic aftertaste because I've only been using structured English at work, social interactions have been quite normal with commonplace lingo that shouldn't have given any intending immigrant any bothers in wondering whether they'd fit in well or not. If you won't mind the cold but are seriously passionate about better choices and options for your future, come over.

Another thing I've noticed that's ticked me off about some fellow Africans here is the alice n wonderland mentality they carry which makes them erroneously assume that here is already so ok that the next best thing we should henceforth engage ourselves with is settle somewhere on the rat-race ladder, start earning, earning, buying stuff to fit in and repeat that cycle endlessly enough to go back to Naija and build a couple of houses and be landlord, pftt. tongue

I see myself making valuable contributions to their way of life especially starting from the presently badly hit tourism industry where I function here in the nearest future. Africa currently holds the keys to their lack of mysteries and that is a big market waiting to be tapped into.

By and large, life here's a hundred times better than staying back in Nigeria practically battling against Govt's negative policies heating up everywhere socioeconomically and diminishing your best entrepreneurial efforts while paid lackeys like that Lai Mohammed still has the effrontery to spin lies to the contrary. grin

Hmnnn.

This a deep conversation.

Regardless of where you have your kids. I believe alot of work needs to be put into ensuring the kids turn out well and dont stray in life.

I agree and admit that kid of Nigerian decent abroad generally turn out well just because the society rewards hard work. So if a child puts in his shift, he almost certainly will be fine.

On the other hand, you and I know that not all nigerians youth who desire to travel end up travelling as travelling itself is expensive. Have a few kids, give them good education, ensourgae them in any sport or endeavor they love. Just do your best and leave the rest to God.
All my kids will certainly do sports and entertainment

TravelRe: Should I Invest In Nigeria Or Wait Until I Get A Permanent Stay In Abroad? by Yaks02(m): 8:44pm On Dec 14, 2020
Basalt:
Goodmorning Ladies and Gentlemen.
I am Basalt by name and I came to Germany last year(2019) October for my MSc studies with a little amount of Money and a partially borrowed block account from my inlaw (his money and my money).
On arrival in Germany, I took only a few courses and got a job outside my city and also got a mini-job. I did all my monthly expenses from my Mini job and used my main job to completely pay back my debt within a few months of arrival.

Now, that's not the discussion at hand.
I need advice especially from people who have lived abroad or have many years of experience in life.
My visa still counts till 2022 and I can even extend it if I don't finish my studies by then.
According to German policy, once you graduate from the University, you will be given 18 months to get a professional job or return back to your country.
Returning back to Nigeria is totally out of my plan at least for now because I came from a very poor family without any job connection and I am really enjoying Europe.
I plan to buy land or start building a house (I saved millions of naira and will even save more as time goes) but my friend who is also a student here discouraged me against that saying that my root is not yet fixed abroad that I should wait and continue investing in myself and undergoing professional training until I get permanent residency before investing. That I should always keep saving because it is not certain that I will get a professional job after graduation since my course is not in Information Technology which is currently booming in Germany. That even if I don't get a job, I can use the money to migrate to Canada or any other country of my choice.
He asked What if you invest the money now and don't get a job after graduation, what will you do after the 18 months of post graduation visa since you don't have any backup from home who will help you out financially.

What do you guys think. I need opinions
Which God do u serve bro, I'm from a poor background and I can't wait to vacate here

FamilyRe: How I Ended My Relationship With A Married Man by Yaks02(m): 10:22pm On Dec 12, 2020
Heartbrokengirl:
I have always hated the idea of dating married people, but here I am...the ex-girlfriend of a married man.

It started sometime during the lockdown, I went somewhere to get groceries and ran into this man. Let’s call him Mr X. His smile and sense of humour was the attraction. He was putting on a nice senator material and when I stood for us to leave, he towered above me. I am a 6ft tall lady and ladies with my height can tell the happiness when you meet a taller man.

We started chatting regularly and we were in a competition to give ourselves treats. On our second date which I initiated, I asked his age and he replied 36, he asked mine and I told him. He expressed his doubts and I showed him my drivers license. Started asking many questions about my background and I answered all of them. I asked about him too, including his marital status.

I had just gotten out of a relationship, his father said he wouldn’t marry outside the Catholic church and he started drifting, I had to let him go. It was tough for me, but after months of keeping to myself, my friend encouraged me to go on dates and give another man a chance. I decided to give Mr X a chance.

It was beautiful. We were in a competition to please ourselves, take ourselves out and we both had a healthy sense of humour...chatting was fun!!! Everywhere we went, people stared. We were all over ourselves even in public and till date I wonder how he pulled that off.

One day his office had a party and he asked if I could come, I said yes. Got there and the guys were looking at me with lust, the ladies were looking at me with pity. He said the ladies were jealous of my looks and some of them have been crushing on him. If you see him and see me, you’ll understand why this explanation made little sense.

After the party that day, it was late to go back to my house and his house was farther, so we decided to book a hotel around. That night was our most intimate night. We kissed, he gave me leg massages, a head and said he is ready when I am ready. I was blown away. Could this be real?

I always noticed he would be lost in thoughts whenever we are together and blame it on work. Other times he will start feeling sick and I would have to close earlier to go give him food and drugs. This became a regular occurence until one day…

He had fallen sick as usual. I made him promise to take pain relievers and we should consider going to the hospital. He didn’t do this and I had to make out time within the week to go check on him. He said it is because he was missing me, how sweet!

He didn’t get better, it was obvious something was bothering him. I decided I will take him for lunch so we can talk about it, but he couldn’t wait. That night he said he has something to tell me, he kept apologizing but still couldn’t say it. He asked if he could send a voice note and I told him to go ahead.

At about 3mins into the voice note, I felt my world crumbling. He told me he was married and has been married for almost 10years with kids. His family was not in the country, that is why I never saw traces of them. He said he had been battling with the guilt and was scared to tell me because some other girl left when she found out and the last was with him for money. He knew I would leave and was scared, his best friend told him to give it time, another told him to ghost me but I have been good to him and his conscience won’t let him. Other friends said he should never mention it to me.

When my friend saw him, she told me he was going to hurt me. I asked her how and she said I was too innocent for him. She didn’t say further not to be termed hater, but since he made me happy again...she wished me well.

I kept replaying the audio while he kept asking me to say something. I wondered if he treated his wife the way he treated me. He was such a gentleman. Held my hands when I had to walk in heels, opened the car door for me, checked on me at work, gave me handmade customized gifts...he made them himself. He said his wife is bad and he wants divorce her, lolz. I told him they all say that. I told him how much he has hurt me, but I forgive him and appreciate him telling me when he did.

It has been almost 3months but the pain lingers. I know I will be fine…
I'm also a good man but I don't have height

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Opinion: Is Teaching In Private School The Worst Collar Job In Nigeria? by Yaks02(m): 11:42pm On Dec 11, 2020
dhope:
How many private school proprietors pay good salary? Infact that job is more than worst collar job but I won't blame them because there's no regulation hence everyone takes advantage to enslave others. There's no crime in opening private school but minimum standard similar to those paying well should be set by govt agency so that both employer and employee will be happy at the end but the case in this zoo country is different, NOTHING is regulated because of corruption. Nepa/Ibedc is doing his own in one corner, mtn/glo and co are doing their's, DStv and co are doing their's too, so also these wicked school proprietors.
Teaching is the most underrated profession in nigeria, I taught in a private school for 4 years earning 17k monthly. I quit because my salary can't even feed me well

FamilyRe: I Feel So Suicidal Because Of My Marriage. by Yaks02(m): 2:11am On Dec 09, 2020
MeeztaFabulouz:
It is really terrible to feel suicidal all because of marriage. I use use to see different news of how people commit suicide because of relationships and I always felt it was so stupid to think of suicide just because of a fail relationship.

Now I have seen it all clear that depression is really very bad especially when you feel so depressed in a marriage you work so hard and do everything to protect and make your family happy. Its very painful when you know honestly inside your heart that you don't cheat on your wife, provide everything she wants for herself and the kids even when business is quite rough.

She has no conscience and no regard for our union and our home. I am a guy that don't think about looking at wife's phone or suspecting her for anything but then after our first child she changed completely and as of today I don't know were I stand anymore because of my kids. I opened a business for her just so that she won't be like a house wife but she has completely taken the business more important than the family and wake up 4am to start cooking and close 8pm at night. Stressing herself so much but always complaining business is not moving and she is not making any money.

I sponsor everything in the home though am not complaining because that's what a man should do, but she does not have regard for anything or appreciate anything I do. Can you imagine I give her money for feeding weekly even though she is running a food business, she buys few food stuffs in the house which can stay almost two weeks without us eating them because we basically feed from food she cooks in her restaurant. I decided not to bother myself and just give her money to always ensure her business is moving and at least food will not be a problem for us.

One faithful day, I decided to check her phone because I observed a certain strange behavior about her and how she likes to off her phone at night or sometimes when I am around. I saw different chats with some two guys she claimed one was her ex boyfriend that just likes to check on her once in a while, and the other guy was someone I remember like coming to eat in her restaurant but she said they went to school together and he is working with a construction company doing a building project close to her restaurant. She also claimed that when they were in school he was asking her out even till they fished school but she preferred her ex boyfriend to him and when she had issues with her ex that was when I came into her life.

If the story she told me is true or not, I wasn't really bothered anymore because I know its normal for a woman you met at 26 years to have met other guys before you and obviously still has guys that don't respect people's marriage and still do anything to sleep with a married woman. But my paid now is because I feel so respected by many of the things she does and when I think of divorce, I only feel for my kids who will now have to grow up with another man or having to visit their mum and see her with another man.

Recently I have become so depressed that I have been thinking of suicide so that my kids will know their dad is no more rather than knowing that their dad is still alive but can only be with either daddy or mummy and not as a complete family. My depression is getting worse especially when I think about all I have done for her and the kids just to always make them happy but in return, she doest appreciate or even have any regard anymore for what is called "FAMILY"

Over 7 years now and at this point I really feel suicidal. Please I really need help because I make this big mistake.
If u commit suicide na hell u de go oh
