i work as an Administrator in a school. i do more of filing and paper work as well as assist with staff training. Is this enough experience for me to pursue a career in Hr?
please i need your candid advice.
thanks.

i think something along the lines of records/document management, database management (Oracle, SQL Server, etc), ERP, Business Process Automation, etc will benefit you more than CCNA. Unless you want to switch to a career in Telecomms later.

Webmasters / Re: Please Help: Need To Transfer My Domain Name by yamakuza: 6:07pm On Feb 27, 2013
damnyke: Hello,
Please I really need help fast. I mistakenly deleted my Public_html folder and lost all my client sites. I was told to contact my host to reinstall it for me but there said they can't do it.

not sure why they said/think they cant, but if you deleted without emptying the trashcan, you can still restore the folder from cpanel.

The problem now is I want to redesign the site and blog back but I want to make use of the domain name which I can't register because my host registered it initially. How do I solve this problem?

since you are willing to redesign and reupload/migrate, i believe (based on posts from others) that Syskay has a domain management portal from which you can point the nameservers for your domain name to that of a new host.

Webmasters / Re: What Is Wrong With Syskay Hosting? ??? by yamakuza: 5:20am On Feb 17, 2013
Dual Core:
Except the scam site pulled in a really big loot, this is not likely. Scam sites come up everyday, I have not heard of a host being arrested for such if the normal process is followed. Most users report a scam site, the host (if innocent) immediately takes action to turn it down and that the end of the story in most cases except the offended produces a subpoena asking to release the client's contact details. A different story will be painted if the host refuses to take down a scam site in its network.

So while the scam site reason is possible, its highly unlikely to be in in Syskay's case.

yes, we are both correct.

but remember that its usually the likes of Spamcop, Interpol and some other foreign law enforcement agencies that send you notices, and maybe subpoena your provider if you dont comply/depending on the gravity of the offense.

our Nigerian agencies are less civil. they prefer to raid your offices at the slightest provocation, and lock up as many people as they can lay their hands on. "sting" , they think it is.

of course we dont know the details, but the only connection i see between efcc/icpc and a webhost is that someone has reported something. locally. it doesnt even have to pull in a big loot. a clone of any of our 25 banks is enough to cause this. #example

as in, its this complex cos its being handled by local authorities.

with regards to precedence, EFCC has actually shut down SignOnAfrica in the past. "Seized" all their servers and ran them out of business at the height of their popularity.

for the fact that their site is still up and their office still open, they can at least inform their clients on the best alternatives.

if the content(s) of the server is being investigated by ICPC, i dont see it coming online anytime soon, given how long their processes/investigations take.

its either syskay migrates them to a new server or the clients move their backups to a new host. [s]unfortunately, "the boss" is not around to give the order.[/s]

i really think all webmasters and their clients should look into offsite backup solutions.

soloqy:

Arrested by ICPC? For what? Did you ask?

i wont be surprised if someone hosted a scam site on one of his servers.

a lot of those offering "cheap" hosting packages are very susceptible to this form of attack/abuse.

Romance / Re: My Boss And I by yamakuza: 1:33am On Feb 16, 2013
1 man's inability to control his libido should not deprive you (and your family?) your source of livelihood. in saner climes, you have enough grounds to sue for sexual harassment.

its a good thing you are not interested in the guy romantically, so the guy will either have to force you or wait a very long while. that means as long as you dont give in, your job is secure. once you give in, your job is as good as gone.

the main issue i see here is how to survive the next 6-36mths till you get another job. the only thing i can add to Mazi's list is that you become very good friends with his wife. her coming to look for you is enough opportunity to get close to her.

do keep us updated.

you'll be better off buying cards from a dealer in your area.

the overheads of buying PINs online and printing are just too much and not worthwhile, if such still exist.

wasco24: fidelity back visa is nt workin in most site, bt dnt knw abt access u can give it a trial

thanks, i'll give them a try.

arbitrage:

many banks have visa card that you can use online but nigeria's limitation will still be there if the seller site only accepts their country cards like usa and uk.

try gtb dollar denominated visa card, skye bank naira visa card, access naira visa card, union visa card, zenith visa card, diamond visa card and standard chartered visa card and so on.

i guess its between Access and Skye now. not really interested in the others cos i'ld need to buy dollars to fund them.

theres this particular site i'm subscribed to, and only gtb visa and zenith websurfer have worked there so far.

since zenith is phasing out websurfer and i dont want to buy dollars, i need to test all the other options till i get a match.

Anyone with success stories on Skye and Access?

tpia@:

you misunderstood my post here:

abstract african art was not referring to tribal marks, but african art as an art form.

tribal marks are not meant to be aesthetic- they are for identification and tribal consciousness.

really? the posts below and the thread title gave me a different idea :

timilehin007: And beside, this thing might just be a mere art work, I don't think this structure is human, it doesn't look like at all..!! It looks more like an art work to me.
Why do you have to use this thing to ridicule Yoruba so much @ OP..take ur time oo

Ajibel: This cant happen in reality...it's just the imagination of the sculptor

tpia@:
Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.

If whites could call abstract african art beautiful even when the art looks grotesque, then what is africans' own for them to carry something on their heads like the op is doing?

Btw, why have the mods in this section not modified the thread title seeing as its a blatant lie?

okay, if you agree that all tribal marks are fugly and that some african art&craft are loved though fugly, then we are on the same page.

AjanleKoko:

Seconded.
Nothing artistic in those face lines. Chap looks like he crossed a tiger on her period or something grin

lol, u got that right ! some tpia tigress that was!

tpia@:

What you're calling mutilations are considered art.

Do you disagree? Then explain why you think so.

well, i just dont find anything artistic in hastily drawn criss cross lines that are used to brand slaves or mark warriors.

If a few whites find them artistic, their idiosyncracy is very understandable forgivable.

richarts: Less than 50k?. Well I'm nt surprised. It is well.

I learnt 1 shud nt spend more than 30% of ones salary on rent.

richarts: 25k is 30% of my gross earnings so u know what I mean.

Its just crazy... What do u know about Yaba rent?

its very easy to get data on rent across Nigeria, and so is calculating 100%

well, if N25k is 30% and you are also paying rent, then i think its important to cut down expenses and/or increase your income.

PAGAN 9JA:
impossible. the beauty of the tribal marks les in its aesthetic quality. it complements human features. tatoos are just flat.

beauty? aesthetics? tribal marks? in one sentence? i'm yet to see ANY tribal marking that is beautiful ...

i'd choose Tonto Dike's tattoos any day over Aluwe's facial marks !

so, that is ugly [because its african], but these are not? [because they're not african]:

you see how f.oolish you are?

i beg to differ/disagree, based on the ffg:

1. one is more artistic, the other is not

2. one can be hidden, the other is "in your face"

while the pictures you've chosen to post are somewhat ugly, you cant but agree that tattoos are more beautiful than tribal/facial marks

if you are spending about 30% of your salary on yaba rent, then i dont think N25k is too much on tfare from that same salary.

guess it comes to like N1k/day or N500 to/fro.

getting a car might be cheaper, or car pooling with others.

i'ld also like to know, especially how those that earn less than N50k/mth survive.

considering the fact that some get N30k+/mth for just waking up, i wonder why people rush those sub N50k jobs
