That post was an old one. I too never knew it'll amass that number of likes.

afam4eva: 417? Did the person write his own bible verse? I knew when that thread was created and it's one of those posts that i never thought could make up to even 10 likes.

ya, his call to action was well crafted.

[s]needless to say, only the 1st 3 - 5 posts of any FP topic stand a good chance of beating that record.[/s]

MaisseD:
I have been offered free airtime yeah, but I'm guezing I might disappoint these guys if I can't present a good proposal.

pls can you share how you got the free airtime? me sef don dey find am since.

i'm sure others will find the info useful too.

if they can give you free airtime without knowing what you want to do with it ... hmmmmn

anyways, maybe what you need for a start is a partner who has a good program/idea and is looking for airtime?

you can work together and use this to learn

my take is that even with a good proposal, which you wont/cant write yourself, and not knowing what you want to do ... the program/concept might tank at the end

why not look for, and work with someone with a stronger hand?

or do you already have a concept and just need to put it into writing?

proposal format or script format?

I usually do not argue with nairaland users as most of them are not gainfully employed and waste their time on a forum on a working day when their mates are in the office making stuffs happen but I will let this one slide

You just said it all, after all said and done an expired domain will eventually go into the marketplace for purchase, and like I have said they will only pay the said amount to the owner and not to dynadot for leasing the domain for them by letting it expire so they can purchase it...so with this I think I am done....and pls guys stop the BEEFING!

it appears you are not aware that you are eroding the online reputation of your company?

with the way you are going about things, it will be very hard for people, both on and offline, to take news from/about your company very serious in future.

you might not understand the full implications of your actions until you walk into a Dragon's Den in future and this thread is used against you.

cheers !
Romance / Re: Is There Something Wrong With Me? by yamakuza: 9:49pm On Nov 16, 2012
MaisseD: 1 recently met a secondary mate of mine. He took me for dinner and asked me out afterwards, despite d fact I told him I av a boyfrnd. We decided to remain friends, but We saw each other everyday, played and talked and I got really fond of him. On the other hand,My rltnshp wit my bf canot even be considered a rltnshp, because we hardly see, talk or chat.

heres maybe why:

... I promised to make love to him d next day so we could move forward, but d next day came and I couldn't do it. Disapointmnt was written all over him,and he stopped being caring all of a sudden.

The issue is,dis my second skl mate wants us to get intimate(we kiss sometimes, but he wnts us to take it further) and I keep resisting him, although I want to get intimate wit him. I also can't seem to get intimate wit my boyfriend too(we don't kiss@ all).

when the time comes to get down, you'll freeze.

Is there something wrong with me?because am not a virgin. Wat can I do to keep this guy with me,cos I really do like him.

yes, you need to see a psychologist.

MaisseD: If u av any knowledge on this,I will be very glad if u can share it. Tanks

who will pay for the airtime?

you, a sponsor, or the station?

if you are paying, then all you need do is buy airtime from them (and work on your production).

if not, then you should be looking at writing proposals to possible corporate sponsors, and not the radio station itself.

i doubt that any radio station can give you free airtime for any program, when they have people in-house that can get the job done.
Career / Re: Pls Kindly Read And Give Advice, thanks And God Bless U by yamakuza: 9:23pm On Nov 16, 2012
mobiss: Right now av been made supervisor for sorting out of structural members for transmission line,wt laborers working under my supervision. Not well knowing 2 them dt we r been paid d same amount weekly,am nt 2b blamed,as i go skul and them no go.... Sorry for them. Also av been given d design for the transmission line structure to study as a graduate as dz will help my career in dt field.

Presently i need logical and professional ideas and answers to my questions.

1- Wt software can i learn to knw d basics of structural designs,as most of the coy work designs come frm india, marcedonia and bulgaria?

2- Can i merge d structural and electrical field experience 2gether for future job vacancies(since i studied mechanical as my 1st degree)?

https://www.nairaland.com/779021/civil-engineering-aspirants-practitioners

3- when working with d electrical engineers on site,we do climb 133Kv and 32kv gantries of 13meters and 9 meters height respectively to do some coupling and erection jobs(without safety belt or body harness,as the coy has no SAFETY OFFICER)on your own things nw. I'm ACROPHOBIC,bt still developing d techniques of climbing and working at such heights. As av done few coupling and erection jobs on top of the world meticulously. Bro,is nt easy to work at heights. The transmission towers i'm sorting out nw r as high as heaven(36meters away from land). My fear as a supervisor nw is dt to understand d structural design well there may be need 4me 2 climb dt high to see hw things av been done at dt altitude, which am dreadful of. So therefore wt way out of my acrophobic syndrome?

Note: The salary is small compared 2d nature of work stated above.

i doubt that there is ...

And lastly a friend is helping me wt a para-military job wt a salary above 100k,wt job guarantee as my present job is a one man show and the owner hires and fires anytime he likes,av seen dt happen couple of time during my short time of work wt d coy i.e. no job security,wt low pay which i can still cope wt if the para-military job doesn't click. Bt,ryt nw am stucked in btw which one to settle for if d anticipated job finally come through.

Considering d fact dt i'm dz kind of person dt believes in entrepreneurship and bizness oriented,i av d keen to creating my own bizness empire. Coz i tried dt after my NYSC and i knw hw it feels 2b ur own boss,d only hiccup i had dt tym was capital and some logistics problems which am trying to work on via good salary job. Also will need time to run around for my own personal business as d para-miltary job will create few-days off in a week to do my bizness thing, which,my present job never permits as there is no time 4 myself let alone of bizness.

So which way should i ply wise one's?

Thanks as u reply.

if it materializes, you can go for it ...

solutions247: ok, are u trying to say each user uses d same hosting plan n plz kan u mention any disadvantage abt doing it..Thanks alot

shared host means that eg 100 people/sites can use a server with 10gb hard disk at 100mb space/site etc.

the RAM on that server will also be divided by the number of sites on it, as well as the bandwidth.

while this can be cheap, economical or cost effective, the downside is that 1 site can bring down all the other 99 sites.

eg, if 1 site is hacked, the hacker can gain access to the other sites; or if 1 site has a process that uses too much memory, it can slow down all 100 sites.

to avoid this, mission critical sites are advised to get non-shared/dedicated hosting, which is more expensive (eg x100)

as per your initial question on foreign vs local hosts, i guess its safe to assume that all hosts are foreign, cos most (if not all) of the local webhosts have their servers abroad.

what differs is the line of support/customer service you get.

while foreign companies are more customer friendly, it might be easier to reach a local company in times of trouble.

when you do reach both companies however, their ability to resolve issues have little to do with their location, but with their skill/experience.

we have linux/windows gurus in Nigeria that can resolve your server issues within minutes, while some foreign companies will still be exchanging mails with you for 5 days or more. the reverse also happens.

ideally, before signing up with a webhosting company, whether foreign or local, take time to google up reviews and testimonials on the company.

the results of that research will save you a lot of headache in future.

all the best !

1. Are they(graduates) eligible for NYSC?

i believe all university graduates are

2. What's the salary range for SL techs?

no idea. cant be more than 100k for starters sha. expect N50k

3. What does the course entail s?

Thanks yamakuza & others as I anticipate your favorable response soonest.

Please I'm getting views, but no reply. I really need some advise from people already in the field.

looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool ! u couldnt even wait a day?

seems our resident consultants are on sabbatical. hang on dear !

Paris-fran:
Introduction: I'm Francisca, currently serving in Lagos State.

like, seriously?

I want to become a finance expert, but since the financial sector is wide i'm specifically interested in Accounting and Portfolio Management. I hold a BSc in Economics and Statistics.

still part of the introduction abi? no advice needed here then.

I need advice: In line with what i aspire to be, i'm considering starting with ICAN this year.

sounds good

I'm also interested in doing a computer program, i'm currently looking at CCNA, sage 50, CISA. Since i'm interested in Portfolio Management, i'm also putting CFA in mind.

i hear CFA is not really 'it' anymore ... hopefully, someone else will add to this

CCNA does not fit into your outlined career path. CISA and Sage50 fit.

you can consider substituting Oracle/Java for CCNA, in line with your portfolio management objectives.

My real headache right now is that with so many things to do and despite the fact that i have saved enough money to run any exam i want, i still dont have the time and money to waste in doing exams and certifications that will not be useful to my over all ambition.

i'd go for :

1. ICAN
2. SAGE50/QUICKBOOKS/PEACHTREE
3. CISA
4. ORACLE/JAVA, MSSQL/C#
5. CFA

in that order

In line with my chosen ambition, i need Finance experts to advice me on the right path to take, keeping in mind that i have NO working experience. Thanks for your anticipated reply.

i dont want to mention names. hopefully, they'll chip in very soon
