Any time. In the US, the political spending goes into the billions. This includes adverts of all kinds, websites and social network campaigning. It is about time someone in Nigeria started thinking about tapping into that genre. Do a site for one or 2 people and hopefully, over time, you develop a templated system and just plug and play from there. Good luck! |
None of them will be simple. What you need to do is follow the tutorials or just install the script as you downloaded it, and build your page(s) from there. Good luck! |
^^^Speaking for myself, I know what I have gone through to debug IE-specific bugs. MSFT is doing gra gra because they figure as long as their browser is built in, those who don't know any better will use it blindly. Those days are fast becoming history sha. For instance, I recently had a client who told me to post a "you need to upgrade your browser from IE7 to IE8 and above" on his website if you came in with IE7. Now, this is coming from the client. I was so elated, I asked him many times, just to be sure. He said, "too many bugs man. I don't want you to deal with them". Also, if I am not mistaken, according to the latest browser stats, chrome recently became the most downloaded desktop browser. Times are soon changing. |
Do what I do: I google for, and analyze at least 20 sites in the same genre. Then I note what I like and dislike about each and finally combine what I like into 1 site. In campaign matters, I would probably lean towards the US-based campaign sites. For the most part, they are all the same. As far as fee goes, I am thinking at least 250K. This gives you enough wiggle room to negotiate downwards...to no less than 200K. Good luck! |
guru01: What happens for browsers that don't fully support html5 (I am thinking specifically < IE9)? I think the solution here is a combination of front end (javascript) and back end (php, etc). OP: Google for "livevalidation". Though plenty of others exist, that's what I use for front end validation. It has worked for me for the past 4 or so years. It provides validation for all fields and special cases of such fields (email addresses, etc) Good luck! |
so i am seeing the name of this poster, looking at the url advertised and noting that there is no hyperlink. I am also noting the bad english/typo. Then I am asking myself, "should I risk clicking the link?" ![]() |
This is one thing that won't last till 2020 though ![]() Australia online retailer imposes 'world's first tax' on Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 |
It is very likely that it won't disappear. Within the context of this post, let us not forget that some years ago, even Punch experimented with paid services. We all know how that went. Outside of the context of this post, facebook is more likely to go out of business due to a falling stock price, though I think they will probably buy back their shares and go private (laying off a ton of people in the process) than go out of business. |
Would be nice if we had at least a screenshot of the old one, for comparison purposes. |
People are too used to .com and .org...and .net to a limited extent. How have the .mobi and .tv and .Bleep fared? I guess time will tell. |
^^^ This is 2012. No more excuses. We need to drop this mentality. South Africa of yesterday has surpassed us and we are still "developing". |
Ad placement looks good. Happy to see it worked out for you in the end. Perseverance is key. Kudos! |
What do you expect when either a job is given on the basis of nepotism, or is given based on who can give the most kickback or is given to someone who collects beaucoup d'argent but then turns around and subcontracts it out for 50K? |
This board is being polluted almost daily with requests for reviews of fora and advertisement of fora. The worst offenders to me are those who do a "sneak attack" by not disclosing that they are fora, until you click the link. I have nothing against fora. If you feel you have something better to offer Nigerians than NL, by all means, go for it. I just think that it is too much, is making people miss important posts and is diluting the relevance of such fora. By moving them to their own board, anyone who clicks will know what they are getting into. All in favor, say "ay!" |
^^^ Yeah, even worse. As I said, now i have to look forward to the many urhooks clones that will pop up all over this board, all in an attempt to get N5m ![]() Now if he had organized a competition, with urhooks being the winner, I would be in support as such a competition would have brought out and encouraged creative juices in the contestants. We really need to adopt the "show a man how to fish and he won't be back" mentality. |
When you say your site isn't 100% complete, I think you owe it to those you are seeking a review from to explain why exactly it isn't complete. Besides, do you expect us to come back after it is 100% complete? I know I won't. Be that as it may: 1) The orange text is a little hard to read for me. Go to colorcombos.com for color combinations 2) Why are the header images not the same for each page? I would make them the height of the header images on the content pages. 3) Why is the text in the headers part of the image? This adds to the weight of the image. Besides, updating the text will be a nightmare, especially if you aren't the one doing the future updates 4) Listed services on the home page should probably be linked to the respective services on the services page 5) Contact form: The error messages have a gray background. I would probably make those a brighter color so they stand out 6) I wouldn't make the backgrounds of the form fields the same as the background of the page. Maybe white? 7) Why would you tell me that all the fields are required on the form AFTER I fill out the form. Add a message at the top of the page saying so, so I know what to expect. 8 ) The "site design by" link is broken - not professional at all. Either correct it, if it does exist, or take it out or remove the hyperlink. 9) Malformed code in the source: <meta name="author" content="Omab Technical Services" 10) Don't use code like <p> </p>. Rather, add the necessary padding and/or margin via css |
^^^ as Michael Jackson once sang, "You are not alone" ![]() I mean, of what benefit is that site to Nigerians as a whole that warrants the govt to throw N5m at it? It's one thing for a private entrepreneur to do so but the govt? Something is not right here. I remember a few years ago when the Cross River State Government (CRSG) bought what is now their current Tourism Board website from the individual who developed it. That made sense to me - the site will definitely need to feature items/articles that go way beyond the resource of the originator. The CRSG probably thought about creating the site but didn't put rubber to the road. It therefore made sense to buy out the tourism website as it had potential beyond the individual who did it. That made sense. urhooks? Different matter, especially considering there are other Nigerian social networks online. Now, having just now recovered from the NL-look-alikes, I have to go through urhooks-look-alikes all hoping to make N5m from their respective governors. Worse still, they are all going to advertise on NL ![]() |
So now that he (as in the government, as opposed to someone in the private sector) has bought it, what's next? In other words, how will the government make it better? |
post a link to your website... If you don't want to do that, at best I can guess. I know why it is happening but I need to see it within the context of your site. Basically, you will need to set up styles for a:link, a:visited, a:hover, a:active and a:focus (in that order). |
Have you tried the pdf at joomla.org? |
Clearly, you're missing something.Yep, Seun, it is as clear as muddy water. Why don't you lead the way and give us what we want, which is a global "mark as read" like before? Where it already exists, why not be a leader and give us a tutorial? #justSaying |
You need to escalate this to the owners of the company. Before then though, you need to get all your ducks in a row: 1) Do your research on all available CMS tools, as it relates to all the features the company needs 2) You need to weigh #1 against the back drop of whatever you are most comfortable with 3) You also need to weigh #1 against whether or not the owners of the website will be making lots of updates and their skill level for updating stuff Personally, having dabbled in only joomla and wordpress, I would say err on the side of low learning curve (customer-wise) and go with joomla. wordpress is cool, but as you know, it can get a bit messy, especially for customers. Regardless, you need to escalate this issue to upper management, stressing to your colleagues that it is nothing personal and that you want what they all want - the overall success of the project. good luck, and do let us know how it goes. |
If it isn't too much, it would be nice if we had a sort of similar functionality/behavior with the "good old days", when we could select multiple threads and mark as read. As it is now, unless I am missing something (happens more than you think ), I still have to go to each individual thread and mark as read. |
wat is a downloadable form? any website with an example, for reference? |
use ftp or ur cpanel |
Folks, as we think it is cool to "test hack" websites, realize that the US has a law that says that even recreational hacking is a felony. Let's also not forget that the US has a repatriation agreement with Nigeria. #justSaying ![]() |
for #6, each open tag should have a corresponding close tag. If you follow that logic and look at each open UL and open LI tag and do a count, you will come up with an extra close tag for each. Sure, firefox is displaying the page correctly and so you probably didn't even notice it. Having said that, it is no excuse to write bad code. Make sense? Here is the code, for your convenience (hint: look at the last 4 lines, bolded): <ul id="mega-3" class="mega-menu"> |
Yep, then pounces on you with a group of fellow lionesses. Before you know, our fangs are deep in your neck, snapping your spinal cord in a very precise area. The blood gushes out like a geyser and we shake you left and right for full effect ![]() |
No system is ever 100% secure. Systems are only as secure as they can be at the given time. At best, one can only mitigate. Of course, it is more damning considering the name involved. |
1) I think the super-sized sub menus would look better with horizontal menus 2) When I hover over "our equipment" and then hover over "contact us", the sub menu for the former doesn't go away 3) On home page, "read more" link "disappears" when you hover over it. 4) Unprofessional "under construction message (note the bolded portion)": "This page is currently being updated. Pls Check back Later" 5) Contact form not validating properly 6) In your navigation html, you have mismatched UL and LI tags |

Dana sure is in trouble of late (a big understatement actually) but I must say, mobile site is perhaps the best I have seen in a while. I would give you a link to access it but I don't want to spoil the fun: 1) Go to their main website: http://www.flydanaair.com/ 2) Scroll to footer and click "mobile" Let me know what you think. . . |
