Source for another advertising source. No b only google dey. Have you tried yahoo or adbrite, for instance? |
All Joomla "pages" work off the same default template. This means that unless you are writing conditionals for each page you have, what you have one 1 "page" will show up on all "pages". If what you added is not showing up on all pages, then either: 1) You have a conditional on the template which displays stuff on certain pages, OR 2) You edited the wrong template, OR 3) You have added the code to a section that has a conditional in it by default and then via the admin interface, you inadvertently set it to publish on all "pages" but the home page, OR 4) You actually added the code via the admin interface and not directly in the HTML template. Of course, this list isn't exhaustive. These are just off the top of my head. |
So, as you see am so, you offer am Kola nut? ![]() |
Weekly Update: 1) Copywriters are compiling content for the site 2) Back end is wrapping up loose ends on their work 3) SEO has completed round 1 of their work 4) Testers and Security roles are getting ready to roll It still looks like this project will be done by November 15 2011, worse case, November 30, 2011. This has definitely been one for the record books. I know for me, it has taught me a lot, with respect to working with my peers resident in Nigeria, all of which have been positive. |
chickens!! ![]() How do they expect us to take them seriously next time? Ever since the so-called "arab spring", every dick, tom and harry is looking for yeye publicity. As I have said time without number, copy copy and borrow borrow doesn't work anymore these days. One must be original or at least build upon an existing thing to make it unique. |
Then daily independent and other companies should do what most companies in other countries do - create an IT department and have at least 2 staff run it. It is understood that people in a certain generation may not understand/appreciate the web but nothing stops them from hiring someone who could help them bridge the gap. For instance, last night, I was on a teleconference with an NGO that needs a website. There were 3 people on the phone, 2 of which were totally clueless as to what they wanted and to their website's capabilities. I ended up communicating more with the 1 (younger-sounding) guy who was actually very conversant and well versed with respect to what he wanted done on the site. If he wasn't there and I was an ojoro web developer, I would have literally conned the other 2 and given them a crappy product (emphasis on, "if I was an ojoro developer", which I am not ) and they would be singing my praises all the way to the bank. |
Thanks tarhexxx. "Unfortunately", we are done with all forms of coding. What's left is copywriting, SEO, testing and security. Thanks, once again. |
UPDATE: We are running the last 100m of the race. We need a copywriter (or copywriters). If you are interested: 1) Register yourself at http://www./172013582877604/ 2) Send me a note on FB with your full name and email address I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks in advance. |
Based on my personal observation and experience, the business has always been there, going back at least 5 or 6 years. That hasn't and isn't the issue. It has, is but hopefully will not be about the money. Due to endemic unemployment, web developers are taken advantage of to the point where some are offering to code a database-driven website for 10K. Also, there are very few good ones (again, I speak from experience), as a ratio of the total and because of the quacks, it is hard to find the one needle in the hay stack. |
you never even presented one to begin with. I think this is more like a check mate, assuming you play chess ![]() |

pc_guru my bros, tell dem o! Especially bros12345 |
Where are your TITLE, HEAD and META tags, might I ask, in relation to the code above? If it occurs before what you just pasted, then you can't do that. All your HTML needs to be below the session_start() and location() code. |
Don't quite understand what you mean by "no client syndrome is everywhere" but sure, I am always looking for work. How else do I feed my family? See me see trouble o, he he. The only difference b/w me and the next guy out there is that I don't go for the "any girl in skirt" syndrome (yep, yet another syndrome ). I actually seek the discerning and appreciating customer. That is the one who not only appreciates what I do but within limits, is willing to pay what I ask. This means that whereas person A might code 1000 sites a year on the cheap, I don't mind coding 5 or 6 sites a year, for good money. In the end, I guess it all averages out. It's just that I choose to work smart and not hard ![]() Next question please. I am liking this. |
1) That is just a site I just stumbled on that looks similar to the daily independent site (I only noticed this cos i visit the latter daily). Guess how many more or like that? I guess my bigger (subtle) point is that the daily independent folks probably got duped into paying a higher price than what they were supposed to as unknown to them, the developers bought a template on the cheap. UNETHICAL 2) I agree with the customization part. Problem is, most people don't customize - they copy and paste. BAD 3) As for facebook, how do you define, "use it wisely"? I prefer, "don't reinvent the wheel. If you must, add something of value that makes yours uniquely different from the original" ![]() |
LMAO at the strike through. Good one LOL In this day and age, especially considering the competition, how/why would someone launch a business before launching their website? Are they ignorant, being cheap, don't know any better, waiting for the lowest bidder. . .or all of the above? |
Try removing the comments up top. If that doesn't work, I recall slyrox specifically saying you should add ob_flush() AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR FILE, and not directly below require_once(connect.php) |
Ask Seun o! Better threads dey for this board wey for enter first page. Na this one him or im algorithm come choose. Mo gbe! |
Sure they are cheaper but for a company trying to create a brand, why would you? Remember, online, nothing is hidden under the internet sun: http://www.dailyindependentnigeria.com/ vs http://www.webdesigntoolcase.com/ |
Oh thanks oga slyrox. I just booked my flight. They even accept payments via cell phone ![]() Come on man! I am talking about an actual website, not a pseudo-website, courtesy of facebook ![]() |
What defines popularity? Number of posts per topic or total hits to a site, over a period of time? Just thinking. |
u think? |
valacious: Na bad belle go kill you ![]() Not all popular posts have to do with politics, or sex. There are actual intellectual conversations going on, on NL if you didn't know ![]() |
I just read a news article about the latest airline in town - FirstNation Airways. I need to take advantage of their low fares from Lagos to Abuja. Could someone please direct me to their website so I can book online? Oh wait, I can't find their website. Either they don't have one or their SEO is so bad that they are not even on the first 4 pages of the SERPs. Geez! This is 2011, for crying out loud!! |
and what code is on lines 60 to 66? ![]() |
dhtml: For your case, I would use a reset.css file, call that one first, then follow that with your own defined css file, which you will use to override the zeroed out styles in the former. |
I happen to work for a company that has code like this (wrapped around the content code): if IE7 <div id="ie7"> endif IE7 . . . if IE7 </div> endif IE7 We did this to avoid having to write all kinds of css files for each version. Now we just do #ie7 h1, for instance (of course we only use it where the differences are glaring). With IE10 ignoring it, we could be in hot soup, unless of course we can code a new version of the site b4 IE10 becomes stable enough to be suitable for prime time. Mo gbe! ![]() |
@darkhand I troway hate for u o. No specs and you are giving price. I guess that is why I haven't had a Nigerian job in at least a year ![]() @OP You aren't specific at all. Again, what do you mean by, "all plugins inclusive"? Are you aware that there are thousands of plugins? Let me give you a piece of advice: Anyone who tells you they can give you all plugins inclusive, watch that person because they aren't sincere. Full disclaimer: i am not replying to this thread because I want the job. I only want to help all parties so that we all come out better informed. |
1) Email me with the role you want to serve in (right now only SEO, testers, security), complete with your full name 2) Head to the Facebook page and ask to be added |
http://www.456bereastreet.com/archive/201110/no_more_conditional_comments_in_ie10/ It’s not exactly news – it was announced in July in HTML5 Parsing in IE10 – but in case you missed it, Microsoft are removing support for conditional comments from IE10. I don’t expect this to be a big deal. Actually I’m not sure it will have any impact at all, at least not for me. It’s already a rare thing to need to do something special for IE9. One of Microsoft’s goals with IE10 is to make sure that it parses HTML the same as all other browsers, removing the need for markup hacks. Now, that’s not really where conditional comments have been used the most. The most common use is likely to feed IE-specific CSS files to older IE versions to keep the hacks out of your real CSS. Since IE has been getting much better and less buggy support for CSS – including CSS3 – the need for CSS targeted at IE only has been greatly reduced. With a much wider acceptance of progressive enhancement among both developers and clients, it has become a lot more ok for some visual and sometimes functional details to differ between browsers. So no, I very much doubt I’ll miss conditional comments. In the future we’ll just need to handle any critical differences in feature support or rendering in IE the same way we handle it with any other browser – progressive enhancement, feature detection, and accepting that there are differences. If all else fails, well, I guess we’ll have to resort to browser sniffing. I can’t remember the last time I did that for any of the other browsers, so hopefully it just won’t be necessary. |
Knowledge of advanced design tricks ![]() |
It depends on what exactly you want. For instance, how do you define, "with all the plugins inclusive"? How do you define, "basic"? You need to be more specific - sample sites you like, what plugins you have in mind, etc. Do clarify. |
