Mazi_Omenuko: Hi Mynd,

I seek your indulgence to start my brainchild; A short story competition here at the Lit section.

As the name suggest, its going to be a short story competition and I intend it to be for newbies alone; by so doing, I will encourage newcomers to test out their skills in story telling. Its not going to require great logistics as I will work together with just few people.

I would like you, as the Mod to have it stick on top of the board and provide needed assistance when the need arises.

Awaiting your response.

Thanks

(Would have mailed you but don't have your address)
Nice one Mazi.

Each time you see me viewing this thread, I'm always working on the previous updates. I've been able to re-edit about three previous updates. I'm stil working on them, there's a new twist to the story and I can't post the last update without editing the previous one. Check the first update and see for yourself.

Ruby spice: The village is like one of those villages that wouldn't have developed if a university wasn't situated near by. It had poor drainage system leading to horrible roads. When it rains there, people had to literally swim some parts before they could get to their lodges.
This is Anyigba.

we're all doing fine, I just left Idris's house few minutes ago. Benin is cool, always raining. Most of the students you spent your stay with did well in their exam, let's keep our fingers cross as we await or the admission list.

chistar01: hmmmm.. Yea, that's right. Ruby, work on your descriptions just as chima just said, most of us didn't attend futo and we don't know how the lecture halls, lodges, church and even the characters look like, so you should help us to describe the environment, scenes, characters so that we can easily have a clearer image of the whole thing in our heads.

For example - 'rumour had it that prof Iyke was a man in his late fifties but I doubted it because he looked far younger. He was as robust as a Christmas turkey and could never be caught wearing corporate clothing as he was always on different native attires which were so stylish in nature that I even considered dropping all my western clothing(corporate and casuals) and adapt to his mode of dressing'.
While doing the above, try to change the names of your characters so as not to put yourself in wahala.

HealthRe: Please Any Remedy For Stammering by yemi2plus(m): 6:54pm On Sep 14, 2013
My friend, I'm also in your shoes, though, mine is not that serious. It only becomes serious when I speak pidgin english or when I'm talking with my dad.

Like most people stated, talk slowly and don't rush your words.
Let me give you some tips that are stil helping me.

1. Speak less of pidgin.

2. Read aloud when you're reading any material.

3. Don't rush your words, talk slowly.

4. Woo girls. Yes, woo girls, even if you don't wanna date them. By doing this, you will be watchful of your words cause of the shame it will cost you if you stammer. I do this each time and it works for me.

5. Sing any song you like. I stammer and I can stil rap like drake.

6. Create your own words. As in, there are some words that will make you stammer, try and look for words to replace them. I.e instead of saying "discombubolated" just say "confused"

Goodluck as you go for the interview.

nikky5: Can someone start a thread on movie scripting on this forum?Right now I am transforming one of my detective comedy script to a comedy story book.Am sure its going to be one of the funniest books Nigerians would like to read at all times except during meals cos that's the CAUTION.The starting point of any good script is a very good storyline followed by the plotting.Lets talk more about this next time.

Emyo: I doubt if you were even close to the fours of the school during post ume.
I'm not the type that argue when money ain't involved. Just so you know, I was a Pre-Degree student that just crossed over to degree and I also wrote the Post-UTME exam even when the director warned us not to. You friends and sister lied to you my friend, there was no place that the subject combination was written in the laptop.
