@oneolajire, it seem you dont take your time reading replies very well. I notice you believe so much in your discipline as a sole pre-requisite for industrial developement, hence your refusal to see thing from different angle. Technology is the key but social, political and economic factors dictate how far a country goes in terms of industrial development. Perhaps you go back to read your thread very well. You said 'institutionlization of medical field directly resulted to high rate of employed doctors'. And i reply if there were few available space for doctors service just like we have in many other fields today, many doctors too would be jobless. Go and ask those graduated in 1970's and 80's, they will tell you how they were begged go work irrespective of their disciplines. Also, if you say IT/SIWESS is not enough, i agreed because i did not studies Engineering or related courses. But what about a few graduates who passed through the same process and were excel in their various fields today? I know of a man( an economist) who read ordinary few pages manual and he's a owner of a big farm today where he train the so called graduates. What will you say about that? As for the graduates of agriculture, i dont expect you to come up with this again because you've already acknowledged there were programs for them. Dont let anyone deceive Olajire, if any graduate serious about farming, he/she can easily cultivate several hectres of lack with little capital using the theoretical knowledge. If a stark illiterate who dont even have acess to any formal education can make millions from farming, i dont think they have any excuse not to practicalize what they study. Nigerian students/graduates hate practical and are very lazy. FACT# |
oneolajire:I read your article from head to toe and must confess you did make some vital points there. Though the article addressed some important related issues but still fill with misconception or flaws you were probably not aware of. Misconception 1: That institutionisation of medical field directly resulted to high rate of employment in this field is false. Rate of employment in health sector has nothing to do with institutionalisation or nature of training acquired, rather it was a result of factors relating to demand and supply. Except you intentional dont want to speak the truth, you and i know that demand for health workers is quite greater than supply anywhere in the world. Misconceptoon 2: It's quite untrue that Nigerian graduates of Agriculture, engineering, physic etc are not competence in their various field due to lack of practical training. Let me use OAU(at least you can testify to that) as example. The school have agric and commercial farm respectively where students are usually undergo practical training. Also there are many practical equipments at 'Spider house' for engineering students. Micro- biology students too have well equips Laboratory. And apart from this, All the engineering, Architectural, Building , Estate Mag etc are given enough time to perform their IT programs at the place of their choice. Therefore, The reason some of the graduates mentioned above could not find/create jobs was not totally because of lack of practical training but a result of few available jobs around, plus the fact that many are lazy and have been affected by normal Nigerian graduates mentality ' must work in the office'. Now talking about your proposed solution; * If you could agreed that organisations are capable of creating jobs, then where do you think the ideas of organisation formation emanated from? * This one is full of contraditory statetements. " we need Nigeria technologies but you do not subcribe to Nigeria method of gaining practical experience right? Like i said before, The rate of employment you see in medical field today was not a result of nature of training or institutionisation but factors related to demand and supply. * Firstly, i'm surprised you too have seen the important of capital and incentives from the government and society. Besides, what stopping the said graduates/experts from attending such seminars in order to be notice or prove themselves? " Billions of naira was spent on MDG as well as national youths service corps agricultural scheme with little or nothing to show for it" Are the coppers spent the said billions of naira on not graduates you claimed should be more focused? " Youths coppers cannot be force into farming" Are you saying there are no agticulture/agricultural related graduates among the corps members? * Your last paragraph shows that you intentionally refuse to accept what i've been emphasizing on. This makes every other thing you wrote looks like a mere long unrealistic utopia notion. All the same, i really admire your written skill, just keep it up. |
Organs:The proof were there in my previous message, read again. And i will say it again, a typical/real Fulani herdman is so local, broke and unexposed to know how/where to source for AK 47. They are mostly hire by their master to take care of the animals, and i like said before, you rarely see them in multiple numbers. For instance, there are many Yorubas in SW that employs Fulanis to manage cow for them. The following questions should be ask before anyone believe these recent attackers(especially outside north and north central) are actually Fulani Herdmen: Why are they attacking the villagers? Why did they often disappear after the attack? Why didnt they settle at conquered communities? |
gift01:Exactly! Many people especially here on NL lacks real knowledge about these people. Typical Fulani hardmen dont carry guns except their shap sword look like cutlasses(and on a rare occation their bows). They dont walk in group, you can see over 100 cows and just two Fulanis directing them. Besides, these people are just too local or primitive to know where to get AK 47 let alone how to operate it. |
oneolajire:ok, i will check it. |
BeeBeeOoh:I dont even think he have any moral right to talk about diversification after allocation of a mere 87 billion naira for agriculture. |
solutionsnow:Didnt say that and that was why i used my situation as a case study. Every business has a potential of growing big if a good incentive are giving by the government or society. From my previous example, you could see that my business has a potential of becoming a very big company if i have access to the things mentioned. |
Are you a fresh graduate or unemployed youth that really want to venturing into business? Here is my advise for you: 1. Adequate knowledge of the business you are about to do is very important. 2. Please and please dont go near business without enough capital if you want a fast success or your life to change within short period. 3. Analyse the future of the business you are about to do before venturing into it. There are some businesses that will never get you rich above the third or middle class citizens. |
jay7:Small? You cant even get up to that with the current prize of DOC. Besides, if you can successfully raised 2000 birds within 6 weeks at 240 net profit per birds, you will make 480000. |
oneolajire:Good to know you are an Engineer. Let me go straight to the point this time. The perfect systems or development you see today in Europe and America are not what they acquired by chance but by dynamic process. These countries did not just woke in one morning and starts spending on research, no they did so after every other thing have been put in place. I challenge you to read the developmental history of Europe and America very well. Trade and merchant are the antecedent of Large businesses and industries you see today. Research are meant for discoveries and modern way of production and not necessary a sole antecedent to industrialisation(especially in developing nation) Perhaps i should tell you this, i'm currently doing a business i employed 7 persons, and with the remaing few months of this year, if i could get additional 10 million low interest soft loan to execute some plans, there is no way i wont be able to provide jobs for additional 40-50 persons. And if i was able to utilise this money for 5 years, how many persons do you think i would be able to provide jobs for? Therefore if 500 thousand youths got the same opportunity like me, dont you think we will create additional 100 millions jobs for the unemployed population? |
oneolajire:Now i belives you are a graduate of science(probably Engineer)? For this reason, you may not know much about how society function. We cant do it like developed nations simply because we dont have a functional system like developed nations. |
I've gone through your former thread, very articulating pieces of info i must say. And if i must understand you very well, you did placed more emphasis on injection of more fund into education and research purpose as a mean of setting up our graduates on the path of self industral development. Well, that was a good ideas. But on a more serious note, there is more to the problem of unemployment in this part of the world than what you wrote down there. Perhaps you were not abreast of different talents and inventors that have been discovered and brought back to oblivion as a result of lack of incentives from government and the society. For instance, i know some graduates and professors who can built or invent things. But do you know their major problems? (Capital, and environmental factors). Even on Nairaland here,we have seen many inventors and where are them today. I know of a guy here on NL who made/proposed 'brick laying maching', this man must have been frustrated offline before coming online to present his plan. Where is him today or his proposed Brick laying maching(I'm sure he must be somewhere now doing other job or roaming about the streets). Also, did you even aware that government spent alot of money on research each year? If you doubt me, then you may like to ask someone( a professor )who will genuinely tell you the truth. Besides, who do you expect the said governement huge investment in education and research be entrusted to? Is it the same set of professors or we hire foreigners to carryout the said research? I can tell you today, if the whole 2016 budget was diverted to education, you will never see a good result. You know why, our educational system was not based of value, econmomic, tradition, technology and culture of indigenous. Finally, i noticed you misunderstood the meaning of investment/enterprenuer with invention in that article. You can invent anything from nothing using your mental prowess without spending a dime(this is why the example of Facebook and Microsolf founders you gave might not correlated). Just like the way Seun created this site from his brain and he's making millions today. Invention that will lead to industries as you said required CAPITAL and suitable environment for it to fuction. And if graduates are to establish businesses on the basis of course study as you said, where do you espect them to get money after creating the ideas? In my Opinion, except we address the 3 points i highlighted in my previous post, it may be difficult for this country to be industrialised. SME is a steping stone to industrial development- Fact# |
anigold:This is not the issue of being a gentle man, it has to do with the way the celebrants, their relatives, friends etc recognise or treated you. Ushers too notice this even without been told. |
Kenturkey048:Why are you asking this type of question from someone you dont know? Try to upgrade your reasoning skill man. |
oneolajire:Ok, i will check the other thread. |
solutionsnow:What makes him believes there were no innovative interpreneurship ideas? I can boldly tell you today that there are many graduates possessed such qualities. I'm sure if someone like op is given a chance to address this problem,he will keep talking about lack of innovative enterpreneurship instead of focusing on the factors militating against the development of such ideas. That was why I mentioned 'enable environment' in my previous post. And yes Dangote started enterpreneurship as a capital enterpreneur the same way many would've started then if they were made to believes in themselves rather than seeking employment under government. In my own view, Nigeria can be a great industrialize nation if we can address the following: 1. Low interest free collateral loan for existiing businesses especially the ones formed by the groups. New businesses should be thoroughly screen out before such loan be granted. 2. Group is very important, people should learn how to form a group. This is number one killer of sole businesses. 3. Innovation, this is very important. The practical knowledge of the business owners should be examing before the registration should be allow by CAC. |
@op, Gospel of Traditional enterpreneur as you called it is not that bad but failure of the government to create enable environment for such enterpreneurers to grow. You claimed somewhere in your subsequent posts that someone should read a book about 'How nation developed'. Well, i dont think you'd read it yourself or maybe you read the ones concocted by imperialists scholers. No national will ever developed by neglecting the so called Traditional enterpreneur. Every developed country in Europe and America started their developmental progress by the means of PROCESS. Starting from Agrarian society to Trade(retailers and machants), then industries. Infact if the so called gospel of traditional enterpreneur has started earlier(1960's), there would've been a thousand indigenous companies like Dangote group today. I know someone will say i misunderstood the Op, NO he was still saying the same think by terming the campaign for his Traditional enterpreneur a SCAM. |
The best thing is to attend only the ceremonies you would be respected as one of important guests. Those special foods or meat you see them avoiding serving to just anybody are usually been keeping for some important guests. |
@op, i'm 100% sure you're very new or about to start this business. Your demands of 3kg birds may be somehow difficult to achive by many farmers especially if you want a steady supply. Considering the current price of feed in the market, 2kg or 2.5kg at that prize would have make sense. Also you cant get the said weight in 6 weeks. Well, for any interested farmer, if you dont mind the small profit, you can still make like #240 profit per bird at 420(3kg) 0ffer. |
kayfra:That is the problem of many Nigerians, they're quick to compare anything to make unrealistic points. If every worker are to receive 56,000 or more as a minimum wage, where on earth do you expect FG to get money for other sectors of economy. Have we even considered the Inflation that this increament will brings along. Instead of us to demand for subsidization of Agriculture and Health service, we are fighting over fuel subsidy that only benefit the few. |
jay7:You spent between 900-1100 naira to raise a broiler to 2.7kg and you think it's cheap? There is a difference between broiler raise to target kg and the one raise for the market size. If you are targeting kg, you wont spent up to that to achieve 2.7kg. But i like the fact that you said 'i'm still learning too'. |
Greeting to the intellectual people on this great thread. Actually,i've been having this serious arguement in my mind for the past few years about 'what actually makes up of our existence'? Later i came to realisation that 'man is nothing outside the feeling of existence'. Hell or Heaven are not but a mere typical ancient myth to control the minds of the weaks. Another things i discovered about life are ' Believes and Spirits'. Spirit to me is our ''conscience" or 'Knowledge of good and evil' which actually induce/prompt us to do good or bad. Believe on the other hands, works hand-hand with our conscience. That is why prayer do work and miracle happens for those who belief in their spirits. |
