Lolz, I won't argue much with you because you seems so sure about the business you imagined they give much return. I have done one of the businesses you listed, and I can tell you it is not what you think.

Secondly, I am not really sure you are abreast with the current economic reality, otherwise, you won't mention anything transport, boutique, phone accessories and paint shop.

The only two I will partially agree with you is food stuff and POS/phone charging. And even with that, the business is already saturated, and you are not the only one selling. You will still make money but telling me you will make 30k conistently per day is very much exaggerated. I know people that sell wholesale foods, infact if you don't have direct excess to smuggling, you can make just #2000 on a bag of rice that is almost 100k now. Same go with beans and other foodstuffs.

The reality is that, business is no longer profitable like before, and If you chose to increase your price to level up, people won't buy. They will simply go for alternative or no buy at all. For instance, a good you sold 10k and make 1k profit before Tinubu economy, you will sell the same good 40k and make less than 1k profit now. The current reality is that, your 6 millions will only buy you few items with less profit compare to when you can used the same 6 millions to fill your store and make big profits. And as an entrepreneur, if you don't make reasonable profit to cover your expenses, you may end up spending your business capital to make an end meet.

Besides, you talked about your wife making 30k and your cousin 7k per day, yes I will agree with you but I want you to know that they won't tell you the day they made nothing or less than 10% of that. I am a business person to the core, and I can categorically tell you that you need a good financial backup(good loan, assets or personal fund) to survive or stay afloat in this present economy. God be my witness, what I bought last week is now increased by 47k when I went back this morning. Tell me where I will get the money to buy new stock if I don't have a little financial backup? Sometimes, you won't even have money to buy what you use to used to buy, upon the less profit you make on expensive products.


If 26m can give you work permit in Western country, it is much more better to go and save your #1m($600) per month and live a good life than hoping for unrealistic business proceed that may not be consistent or eventually swallow by hard economic policy.

The truth of the matter is that if you want local government autonomy of whatever you call it,you have to change the constitution completely. Even the constitution says the LG is under the control of the state government.

Worldwide there is nowhere there is 3 federating units. It is always two. The Federal and state.

In a true federalism like it's practised in the US. The LG is under the control of the states. The US has over 80,000LG and states create LG as they wish.

Here in Nigeria,coupled with the fact that the money being given to the LG are not even enough to pay salaries and that is why the states created joint LG accounts to offset the bills of LG since 1999.

15% of 20m is just 250k per months. A family of 4 needs more than that to live moderately good life in Nigeria. That 6 millions can't start a good business now, except you are talking about online business.

I used to think that way before until I realised you can't break even in this current harsh business environment if you don't have huge financial backing. 26 millions naira is not much, it would be better for anyone to use it to enter a good Western country if that is enough. You can live a quality life and still save more than that in less than 2 years abroad especially if you are legit with work permit.

Removal of fuel subsidy was not even a major factor contributing to the current hardship but floating of Dollar/Naira.

If not for that stupid policy, petrol would still be around #300 per litre after subsidy removal. Rice and many other stable food would still be at affordable level.

Reverse the policy now and put an end to BDC system before it too late. Floating the naira is more damaging than removal of fuel subsidy.

If that is not done as fast as possible, I forseen a total economic meltdown in a year time.

People are now more aware and won't submit to internal marginalisation like the the first Republic.The days of using the resources of some endowed provinces to industrialised regional
capitals and other provinces that had less contributions is over.
The solution is for the 36 states to be independent countries. And those in the same geo political zones should form alliances. Due to shared borders,cultures and traditions,the issue of visa and residency permit should accord them special status.
No state should bear the burden of another state bad choices. Nigeria is one big fertile land. When they see their is no longer free money,each states would buckle up and develop their areas of strength and at their own pace.
Nigeria separation should be like that of Soviet Union. In just 15 years after the collapse,living standards of the former federating units became better. No more bread queue or food stamps.No State should be saddled with the responsibilities of others.

Nigeria is divided to zones along ethnic line. Having six regions or zones would comprise majority of people with the same origin and common interest. The issue of resources control may not have any effect on them since they are more of the same background. Besides, the idea of taking resource to develop regional capital at pre- independence/first Republic is justify as each region were still developing to form part of modern or civil society. Modern regionalism will never follow the same path I think.

Institutions at state level are too Huge and gulped out trillions of naira that would've easily go to local governments for grass root developments. Besides, state governments are too far to the people with slow implementation of needful policies.

We may not practice Max or Lenin kind of communalism but we can come close to it by prioritise local governments administrative system.

I must give it to you, you really understand the baisc dynamism of an average African society. Like you had rightfully said, the looters will still regrouped at regional level and continues their businesses as usual. Though, there would be very much development as each region would be out there to compete with one another in terms of social economic development.

I prefer federal government with 6 executives members representing each geo- political zone and 774 local governments directly under them. This will eliminate governorship and assembly system,which has been proven withiout numbers as wasteful institutions.
