The problem is beyond the currency of sale. If NNPC will sell only 4 four cargoes to dangote as against the needed 15, it means he will source the balance from other countries. Even though this may be a temporary arrangement till our oil production improves or till when we are done fulfilling our obligation to those we sold our crude to on forward contract, there is still a shortfall of 11 cargoes in the short term that will ultimately affect pricing despite hedging the crude sale agreement.

Again, how much will Dangote sell PMS to marketers? Or, will NNPC buy PMS directly from Dangote and then sell to marketers at a reduce price to maintain the current pump price? A lot still have to be decided to make this Dangote refinery very beneficial to Nigerians.

Read the news again, it says 450,000 barrels of daily consumption to be sold to Nigeria refineries in Naira. It means that government only took care of what we consumed daily by selling the equivalent of cruel oil to them in Naira.

I have always been saying it on Nairaland for the past two years that if Nigeria must process, state governments need to go or eradicated. Despite getting significant amount of money from proceed of fuel subsidy removal, these governors did absolutely nothing to cushion the effects on people living in their states. All the palliatives and social programs channel through them by Federal government are always embezzled or manage poorly. Infact this state government is a liability and curse to both humans and capital development in Nigeria.

Nigeria is not going anywhere, until we revert back to regionalism or just Federal government and 774 local governments.

As long as the food is imported, hard currency will be required to finance importation, logistics, and storage. The food will always be expensive, and considering the potential world conflicts, access to imported food from Asia and South America will also be difficult.

To be clear, Nigeria has to take loans to import food because the country is broke and lacks basic infrastructure.

Food prices are directly linked to insecurity across the country, such as the lack of mechanised farming and fertiliser. Food importation will not reduce the cost of food, and Nigeria will be too poor to afford the imported food.

Nigeria needs better leaders than the rubbish in APC government.

Imported foods would be much cheaper withoout duties, tariff or bribing of customs. Besides, local products are not any cheaper, so the best bet is to allow massive importation to create healthy competitions between local farmers and importers.
