PoliticsRe: What Will Modern Africa Present To The World? by yemmit90: 6:09am On Apr 07, 2024
The most important requirements to gain world respect/power are economic and military power, once you don't have that, no sane countries or blocs will borrow your culture or genuinely align with you.

Africans are liability to the rest of the world, we naturally lacks mental capability to see beyond darkness. We are the most unpatriotic narrowly minded creature roaming the earth. Africa is like a farm to Africans, they detest the land and everything about its development, they would rather harvest what left in the farm and take it to the place others developed for themselves to spend.

Africans cannot make any significant progress because we are naturally wired to build our individuals lives and not societies at large. Give an African $100m to provide electricity for his village, he would rather power only his compound for others to come and charge their phones and keep the rest of the money for his future use.

Africans can't changed, and may remain so till the rest of time.

Dude, if you don't like your government, hold them to account.

SImple.

At the end, you won't work for less because you got to help the poor.
Is like you are still being fed by your parents or directly benefiting from this useless leaders calling themselves rullers. Is like Nigeria has never happened to you, go and check how much they budgeted for themselves couple with the ones they embezzled and tell me if Nigeria cannot easily provide 24/7 electricity for her citizens withiout necessarily being force to pay for darkness.

Is it a crime to be a Nigerian, my business is at the verge of total collapse due to electricity problem. With what I spend on generator, I can gladly pay the new tariff rate but what is the point of paying for darkness and still spend another money to fuel your generator? Let assume you need 20 hours of light per day, and they manage to give you 4 hours out of it, the remaining 16hours would be run by expensive fuel, so tell me how the businesses are going to make profits or survive.

nairalanda1:
The thing is, power is very expensive to produce

Nairametrics has stated that it would cost 100 billion dollars to give every Nigerian 24 hour power supply. Over a period of 5 years. And the only way it can be done is to let the power sector charge cost reflective tarrifs.

Yes, the power companies made over one trillion naira in profit last year. Good for them. They also owe 1.7 trillion to the gas man,and the gas man has also raised their prices recently. Then they owe state and federal government taxes. Also three of the discos declared force majeure because they cannot earn enough. Then there are the losses from corruption and mismanagement and power theft. Even aso Rock don't pay for power.

So either we pay cost reflective tarrifs or we would never have good enough power.

People on this site have abused me and trolled me for this my belief. And even called me apc supporter when apc is still paying subsidy. But the sad thing is, no matter how much you abuse me , it costs money to generate power. And things like new power stations cost money. Expanding the grid to carry 50000 mw, which is what we need to supply everyone and even export power will cost a lot of money.

So, we can keep lying to ourselves anyway. Lying to ourselves by paying subsidy for 50 years is why we are here with bad power.

GSM works better because they have the right to set their prices.

At the end, I am.not defending any useless government. Back when pdp was in charge most of the people defending subsidy then are attacking it now. Most of the subsidy removal supporters now are people who when gej wanted to remove it were attacking him. Am sure some of you think I marched at ojota. I didn't. Infact gej, noi and sls are the people who taught me why subsidy is bad. It strikes down growth and profit. Even when you make the profit , it don't do much. I have held this view for 12 years, and it has nothing to do with politics.

So Nigerians, as useless as this apc government is, their self inflicted financial mess has forced them to take the first steps towards a wise decision. We need investors and the reasons why we never had sane people buying our power sector is because none of them want to come and invest and never see their investment because subsidy. Once that is gone, things might change.

You are free to disagree with me and to call me government propaganda and to say am making the poor suffer. Or you can support your right to defend the right to make a profit. Whether disco or you. You will never cut your prices to help the poor. You have a business to run.

( Any abuse is useless. You don't need to get mad over the fact that things cost money after all.)
What happened if government spend that $100b and later increase electricity tariff? Must the poor citizens pay for darkness in order for wasteful government to have money to fix power?

What is the purpose of government if they can't provide basic amenities for the masses to benefit. Do you even know how much Buhari administration and Tinubu had borrowed so far in the name of projects with absolute no impact on standard of living of Nigerians?

The reality is that, these people are evils, and they care less about those they are govern. It is average mentality of black people, so I don't blame them because we are all useless to our continent as living creatures.

Even at that, they will still inherits everything you labour to work for when you die. Out of every 100 men, 85% die before their wives, so it is good to say that men are practically working for women.

I agree.
I left Nigeria in the 80s when I was very young.
There is no way I would have left at even 30. In fact, I thought about going back even though I was so young back then but I didn't have control of where I wanted to live. My parents were deciding for me.

Moving to another country after 40 will affect your mental being and many people around you. People think everything is about money money.
There is more to life than just making money. Quality of life is very paramount.

People who have never made money think that money is everything. Once you make money, you will realize there's more to life than just chasing money.
An healthy 40 or 50 years old man is not too old to hustle for 10 years more and enjoy his earning for the rest of his life.

A 40 or 50 years old man can still make over 50 millions abroad withing a space of 10 years, he/she can move back to Nigeria to establish business. If 70 years old professors are still taking lectures in our universities, why can't healthy 50 years old man work in an environment he would be well paid.

That is my prayer too.

Baba is definitely not 72 years, all his mates/friends from Soyinka, Akande, Atiku, Babangida, to Obasanjo are well above 80 or close to 90. The man fighting side by side with MKO can never be 72 in 2024.

But that is not an issue, I was just catching cruise on his age.

See... We are both agreeing that both generations of players are highly paid. Good.

Now, my issue remains quality of playing... The comparison simply ends at wages earned.

That's the problem.

Business or not... A player should earn his wages on the pitch every week.

These current crop aren't impressing at all.
Well, i didn't see much difference, players then were more rigid and Conservative, while today's players are more flexible and comprehensive.

Most of the things we praised old players for has been easily done by today's players, but our perspectives about the game now won't let us see it. Infac, I really enjoy today's football games than those days.

Angelfrost:
Overpaid players...!

In the years past, highly paid players like Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Wayne Rooney, etc, delivered massively every single week.

Nowadays, we can't even correlate the amount paid to some players with their delivery on the field every week... Just seems like a waste of money.

Imagine Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen collecting over 250k this week, after the abysmal performance of their clubs and teams.

As for Man United players... Let me not talk. Only Onana deserves to be paid salary this week!

It's shocking to believe Bayer Leverkusen players are far underpaid compared to players in Bayern, Napoli, Man United, Man City, and Barcelona. tongue
Alot has changed, you can't compare the generated revenue back them with current time. Besides, football is no longer about the game but business. Every club sign a player that will fetch them good return in future. Aside that, those players you mentioned up there also collected huge salary then, in the sense that what €50k could do back then is more or equivalent to what €400k can do now.

Exactly 💯, division along the states line is a waste of time, and would always be business as usual. I hate state government like mad, they contributes absolutely nothing to both human and capital development. Let there be regional governments and the local governments under each of them.

Look at how Agbadorians and Bulabans are so glued to Peter Obi's opinions, conversations, and discussions with the Obidients movement and Nigerians at large.
Just to hear Peter Obi speak

When will Tinubu engage Nigerians, or at the very least, engage Agbadorians and Bulabans in meaningful conversations and discussions like Peter Obi is doing?
Haba, can't you reason for once?

If someone said he is only passionate about building a new Nigeria( which is very good), but care less about building the platform that saved him from embarrassment of PDP, will you still respect such a person as a party man? Will you be passionate in working for such a person if he comes to your party in future?

I think Obi is done with labour parry anyway.

Wisdom.

With wisdom, you can acquire money

Money without wisdom would eventually end up in I get am before
Wisdom is different from being smart or intelligent, wisdom constitute an ability to be insightful in decision making or good judgement. It is not an antecedents of wealthy living. You can have wisdom and still be very poor, especially if there is no much opportunity at your reach. Aside talent, which can be mostly found in smart and intelligent people, society or environment determine largely how far you will go in life.

A rich man will always live a better life because he has resources to learn by mistake. A poor man with wisdom will always be limited by inadequacy.

All of these are still shallow and self-centered reasons to have children.
You guys have it so twisted someone up there even argued that she would have no one to send on errands without children.
How pathetic!
Like someone said, only the future can teach you a lifetime lesson, no amount of explanation or recommendation can change a mind of someone like you. It is ok not to want children but everything wrong when you talk down on its importance. Ideally, you are calling your parents fools or self- centred for aiding your existence. It is quite logical not to have children if you can't cater for them but don't ever dismiss the important of having them.

There are many men and women that had kids but living a life as if they do not have kids, even at old age. Their children are poor, likewise their parents. They literally live from hand to mouth courtsey with the support of well-wishers. Society only address them with the name of their child/ren but there's no positive impact of these children in their lives. This abound in Nigeria today.
Who should we blame for this?

If you train your children, they will give you peace at old age. You can't give birth like rabbit, fail to train them and expect the same children to amount to anything for you in future.

When I first felt the desire to be child free and not have children I was in my 20s. Several people told me the feeling would change or I would change my mind as time goes by.

As the years went by my desire didn't wane neither did my mind change. The desire only grew stronger and my mind more convinced that motherhood is not for me.

I have no regrets so far and right now I honestly can't see myself regretting the choice. Home ownership and companionship with a good man, matter to me more than biological children do.
What if the said good man leaves you at old age? Remember he owe you nothing.

Have you ever been close to old people before? Old age and sickness that is accomplices with it is not a child play at all. At this stage, only your biological children cares, they may not be with you physically but they will be there with you emotionally.

You need to visit some old people before it too late to change your decision.

Why can't Igbo rule Nigeria, this same mentality is what created disunity in Nigeria.

Igbo deserves to be president too, just that they need to wait until power is return to the South after Tinubu government. I hate people like Obi and some Obidients who doesn't understand a simple political calculation. How on earth do you expect Northerners to give presidency to another southerner who may spend another 8 years and subsequently keep them off power for 12 years.

His action only tell Northerners how much he hate his brothers from the South, because if he really cares about power rotation and not his personal ambition, he wont take any attempt to restle power from his southern counterpart after pursuing his election upto supreme Court.

What do you think? Suggestions and advice are welcomed, feel free to insult the OP if you can't help it. Thanks
Don't tell him directly because you may never know if he is already aware or not. Some men are so stupid that they will tell their wives exactly what their informants told them and put them at risks.

Whenever you are together, bring up the topic and explain the reason a man in such situation much conduct a DNA test on their children. He will definitely grap if he is not under a spell.
RomanceRe: I Sent Her Out Of My House Late In The Night: Did I Do The Right Thing? by yemmit90: 9:09pm On Mar 23, 2024
AyobamiOluwole:
So this girl has been coming to my place, eat the best food and all that. I've asked her if she has a boyfriend and she said no. I do give her money without asking her for anything on return because I could see she is not the lazy type and she is really hardworking. I am very much ok with finances and I see no issues with some of her demands.

Yesterday I called her and told her that I'm not happy and that I need cuddle only and not sex(I lost so much Dollars from futures trading that night). She later called and said she will come to my place for that reason. In my mind I was thinking this will go down as sex and all, but I don't really want sex.

All I just needed is someone to cuddle and get distracted with that's all. This is the only time I am demanding something from her.

So she came during the evening time, and later that night we went to supermarket and I got her something's to eat at home for the night. We got back home and everything was going well. We were both on the bed when I reminded her why she came. This is someone I've been doing quite a lot for without even thinking twice out of pity. She wouldn't give in and wouldn't let me know why she can't just allow me to cuddle her.

Mehn, from the loss I had earlier and all that, I got infuriated and called another girl telling to pls come over for the night. Then I told this girl to leave my house since she can be that selfish. I sent her out of my house around 10pm. She was telling me she doesn't have money to go home, I didn't care and I shut my door against her. Though I was scared letting her out on that road and that time of the night but my anger got the better part of me. It was later after getting over the whole thing I confirmed nothing happened to her from someone else.

Pls is there anything wrong with what I did?

Modified: Anger is a bad thing. I am wrong sending her away at that time of the night. This is probably the judgement I'll get 😔
You should've been patient with her that night, for her to accept to spend a night with you means she knew sex could happen. If you see it as nothing after rejecting your advance, she would've definitely offer herself withiout being ask again.

The relationship is gone, just forget about her and move on. If she realise her mistake and show a sign that she want to talk to you, you can then apologise to her. Next time, don't spend unnecessary on girls withiout making a demand in return, if she ask you for something, tell her you need sex too. A girl that know how to ask normally know how to collect, na you dey dull yourself since.
