FrancisTony: Dress Modesty means they shouldn't expose theirselves not about putting on body-fitted clothing.
This exactly is the problem

lets not use the word fitted maybe we should use the word tight.
Christianity EtcRe: The Christian Chatbox ( sticky) by yetseyi(f): 11:03am On Jun 30, 2014
Lol Yetseyi, sorry but your response to what i typed doesn't count yet.
Ill fitting clothes, seriously? The woman i described up there wears her perfect size. Unless of course you're suggesting every one must wear something a size larger than she is undecided I can't say that would be very comfortable now, will it?

We need to define what counts as modesty here. And some of us need to understand that not everyone takes covering up every inch of their body as something that must be done to protect something priceless. Say a Brazilian would walk half unclad because of the scorching heat. It's just a body, right? She ensuring that same body is taken care of too, and trusts that people will not be perverted enough to think she's left it open for their viewing and touching pleasure.

Why should different standards be made for men? Do men allowed to view their body as not so important things, and hence allowed to bare it to the world?

Mynd, trust me we haven't left the feminism talk yet. We're just handling the dressing angle of it now.
I neva said ill fitted clothes ooo. read the post again slowly u ll get what i mean actually.
Christianity EtcRe: The Christian Chatbox ( sticky) by yetseyi(f): 10:59am On Jun 30, 2014
yetseyi: Uj there is a place for self control and theres a place for dressing modestly. 2 different things entirely.

Thinking of raping a lady really has little or no connection with watever she is wearing. A rapist will rape anybody even if shes wearing iro and buba. And a man that will neva rape a lady will not even if she stands in front of him upside down naked that doesnt mean he is not moved by what he is seeing he is actually. But the thought of rape is just not on his mind simple.

May I add that as much as I preach decent dressing there is no justification for rape. Its like saying I stole you money coz u left it on the floor
cant I just ignore the money?

The above is
And if she wears a short skirt, she demeans herself? She is inviting molestation? And this is coming from a woman?
BTW, what you describe as "looking good" is different from what someone else says
open to addition and subtraction
Mynd if you had read my comment above in the previous page i believe you wouldnt have made that comment but even if you didnt read it there wz no place where you quoted that i said or implies short skirt=invite for molestation.I guess thats settled.

I may be tempted to infer from your second paragraph that looking good = showing curves /mini skirt but I wont.
Any way u are right looking good meand different things to different people
Christianity EtcRe: The Christian Chatbox ( sticky) by yetseyi(f): 10:50am On Jun 30, 2014
Since we are talking about Gods word.

then we have twocissues

we should dress modestly

and we should not look lustfully
Since we know that dressing immodestly can bring some people down its better we dress modestly.
And if for whatever reason a guy sees a lady that is immodestly dressed he should take his eyes away.

Romans14 13 Therefore let us no more pass judgement on one anothet but rather decide never to put a stumbling block and hindrance in the way of a brother

Romans 14 21 It is right not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that makes your brother stumble.

The bible is our standard in all matters of faith and conduct.
First of all, nobody wears a bikini to work unless they work on the beach. A woman who wears mini skirt to her office does so cos IT IS THE NORM to dress Corporate. And if that is the definition of corporate who are you to say otherwise since dressing otherwise is contrary to the norm. (the hypocrisy of your own argument)

You wanna argue that a woman who dresses to your house in a micro-mini skirt has done you wrong by tempting you? Well I guess accountants also are not completely wrong when they steal money since it is made available and "desirous" to them.

I guess political leaders who steal public funds because the public don't demand accountability are also right.

You need help. Seek it
mynd 44 you can dress corporate without wearing a mini skirt .
Youcan look extremely good withouth even showing your curves

mintayo and I have discussed this issue before oya mintayo talk

although i ve been to some organizations and see that most ladies put on macro mini skirts and i seem to wonder if the word corporate means short skirts huh
The problem with you people is that you enjoy taking arguments long. People get tempted by different things.

Some people are tempted by women in hijab (i have heard it) some by women in short skirt, some by women in jeans. What you should preach is self constraint. People should learn to control their sexual urges and not act on impulses
smiley
ok
Someone says I wear form fitting clothes and it's provocative. My body is fully covered, but the every contour of my body is fully outlined.
Men are provoked, some talk about it either by catcalls or daring to stroke my arm, others pretend to ignore even though i can see their eyes and lust not well masked follow my every move.

Pray, has the woman above also bared her goods to the world? Is it now public good too?

Is a man who wears shorts also cheapening himself to the world? Bearing in mind that most women are just as turned on by the hairy legs of a man as much as they are turned on by a tiny glimpse of the swell of her bosom rising above her blouse.
Or a man who walks around shirtless? Or wears an arms length shirt exposing his toned biceps to weak females?
Tell me, is he cheapening himself too?
ok about the 2nd paragraph.
If ladies are turned on by chest and hair the guy should cover them up

Its that simple The reason I ll agree that ladies get moved by such wz an incident that happened in the library when i wz still in school.
it seemed this guyjust finished playing basket ball (we knw their oufit is one free and sleeveless
top ans kneelength free shorts sha) For watever reason he came to the library and i just realized ladies around me were looking at something and I turned and saw the object of attrqction

well i think it wz his height and muscles that attracted them sha .

The one I hate is men going about in boxers i thought that stuff wz an underwear. when going out of your flat be decent enough to wear a short ot trouser angry angry

Tell me, is he cheapening himself too?
From the first paragraph it seems we need to define what modest dressing is.
1st some one that is wearing a leggings and a body fitting lycra material turtle neck longsleeved top is not dressing modest as far as I m concerned because all her body shape is out from the boobs to the hips even to d belly fat despite the fact that she is covered from head to toes while some one else with a normal jean trouser or just straight knee length skirt with a short sleeved or 3quarter sleeved top is mosetly dressed.

U know something UJ when a lady wears an indecent cloth she knows

And also most people do not knw wat suits their body type. I am slim and there are tops i can wear and get away with but my friends cant.
U have large boobs there are tops u should not to wear .U have ahuge back side there are skirts u should not wear.

lemme stop for now sha
Seriously Ihe sometimes i wish you'd just shut up. How can you liken a woman being raped because she's wearing what she wants to hanging your jewellery on the tree?
You can talk about being charitable, knowing that people are morally weak so as not to tempt them, but shouldn't self control also be preached?
Uj there is a place for self control and theres a place for dressing modestly. 2 different things entirely.

ihedinobi2: Hahahahaha. I still keep wondering when you're gonna stop making assumptions about me. My wife is gonna be a colossus like me too cheesy

I believe in the Proverbs 31 woman, the one who is ambitious enough to make commerce with distant lands. The fact that I provide for a woman does not make her a piece of furniture in my house. I don't believe that a woman is unable to make any worthy contribution. I expect her to rise with me. Doesn't prevent me from paying the bills, pulling out the chair for her, opening doors for her and carrying her over the threshold every now and then. She's my baby, dude. Taking care of her is my damn job and I'm gonna excel at it. You can howl at the moon now grin

texanomaly: I was referring to this…

I also feel women have no respect for themselves because of some things I’ve observed here on NL and in person. How many threads have you seen where a woman complains about cooking and cleaning for her boyfriend? What do we hear…”I do all this for him and he doesn’t give me anything, but he expects me to have se.x with him.” Why should he give you anything? Are you his wife, his mother, his sister or anyone in his family? If you are willing to have se.x with him, do his laundry and clean his house without him marrying you why does he owe you anything? Se.x is your reward. If you didn’t enjoy it you wouldn’t be there. Unless you are there for the money, and all of the above is the price for that. What is the difference between sleeping with your bf before marriage and a prostit.ute? The difference is she isn’t a hypocrite about it. Many women who claim to be Christians have little respect for God or themselves when they show up to church on Sunday then go home and bang their bf.

Before anyone (LB) gets the idea I’m not being fair, one of the stipulations of this discussion was a biblical view. Isn’t modest dress and chastity a prerequisite for women in the Bible, and those who follow its teachings? I’m just following the guidelines.
Tex i quite agree with your post. I still do not understand why ladies still do the bolded. U want wifely duties make me your wife its that simple. We ladies have spoilt men and they think somethings are their right. U cook clean do his laundry even add sex ontop for a boyfriend fiance or watever without him earning the right to do so.I ll stop here on that issue for now.

About dressing since this is xtian chatbox and we re allowed to view things from a biblical perspective what happened to the place which says whatever u ll do to make another person fall do not do it. I believe ladies think that flauntint their assests will attract men to them while this is true we also have to be aware that some(most anyway) of our dressing seduces men.

It gets worse when we go to church from ushers to choir you see different levels of exposure.

it seems what we fail to understand is men and women often react differently to the opposite sex. A man wouldmost likely ogle at the boobs or boms and then have a physical reaction and well at that point he has lusted after the lady which may have been avoided only if we cover up.
I m aware that some guys need a kind of deliverance coz even if u wear maryamaka skirt turtle neck they ll still lust after you but for the majority ladies covering up will do a lot of good

like I said I would most likely never have posted the above on almost any othee thread.

I still have more to say may be later.
