CelebritiesRe: Linda Ikeji: I Was Too Picky With The Successful Men That Came My Way by Yoighaman(m): 5:09pm On Nov 04, 2019
newsynews:
Celebrity blogger, Linda Ikeji has stated that she was too picky with the successful men who came her way.

Linda Ikeji made this known during an interview on Starr Drive show ahead of the Ghana Bloggers Summit in Accra.

According to her, she never experienced the saying that men avoid rich and successful women because she had many men come her way.

She also had a word of advice for young girls and their dreams:

I like Linda and would always draw inspiration from her, she made real the saying, " If you don't come from a rich family, make a rich family come from you", only that I stopped trusting most so-called Nigerian entrepreneurs after the Invictus Obi saga, even though I'm one. It's not over until it's over though, if she doesn't find true love, true love would find her, it's only a matter of time. I wish her all the best.

Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie has shared his thoughts on expensive burials as he recounted how a friend once asked for a loan that ran into millions for a burial.

The actor stated that he doesn't understand the concept of spending so much on burial as one should be celebrated when he or she is alive.

Yul also pointed out how some family members won't help out when one is alive but will bring out millions when one is dead.

Exactly my thoughts whenever I get to attend burial ceremonies once in a while, I believe in just going to the grave side, pay your last respect as we say and head back home or have just a little reception for those who travelled far and wide to attend. What's most important is where that person is, heaven or hell? That's if you believe in it, I do anyway.

PoliticsRe: How Mobolaji Johnson Transformed Marina As Lagos Governor (PHOTOS) by Yoighaman(m): 1:14pm On Nov 04, 2019
Mocok7:
wasn’t happy with the transportation system in Lagos, and I particularly felt bad about the waterways that we could not fully exploit. I sent a delegation abroad to look for flat bottom boats that could take passengers across the waterways. I wasn’t happy with the transportation system and would have loved to see a better system in place. One of the ideas I had was to construct the 3rd Mainland Bridge. Don’t forget, the 3rd Mainland Bridge was a creation of the government of Lagos State and not the Federal Government. The Federal Government only took it over at a point in time when we didn’t have enough money and, therefore, included the project as part of the state’s contribution to the Second Five-Year Development Programme of the Federal Government in 1972. I went abroad and was surprised to discover that the headquarters of Julius Berger was located in the same area as the hospital where I went for medical treatment. I met Mr. Whitman who later served as vice-chairman of the board of Julius Berger. His first job in Nigeria was the construction of the Itoikin Bridge that links Lagos with Epe.
During my meeting with Mr. Whitman and his team of engineers, I showed them what we were planning for the ring roads around Lagos. I believe people getting out of Lagos should have freeways that they can use. The concept I had for the inner ring road and outer ring road was to have pillars erected to the middle of Herbert Macaulay and Murtala Muhammed Way with the pillars supporting a network of highways on the top like the ones I saw in Tokyo, Japan. I believed we could achieve the same in Lagos. The Julius Berger team looked into my concept and came up with a blueprint ready for my submission to the Federal Government. That was how Julius Berger and an army of officials came all the way to Lagos. Work began in earnest with the engineers in boats and canoes crisscrossing the body of water over which the 3rd Mainland Bridge and its ring roads would be built. At Marina, they proposed sand filling as the best option so as to be able to gain more useful land, in addition to solving the traffic problem on that axis. I was thinking we could use the idea of the 3rd Mainland Bridge to sand fill a sizeable portion of the waterfront of the University of Lagos and adjoining areas and create a big motor park where a park-and-ride system of transportation would be available to take passengers from the Oworonshoki area into Lagos, where you will equally take a taxi or a bus to wherever you are going on the Lagos Island and when you are through with what you came to do on the Island, you will be taken back by boats across the water to where your car is parked at Oworonshoki. That was one major project I would have loved to accomplish but couldn’t. To date, our waterways, I must say, are still largely underutilized.
1936-2019.
May his soul in peace!
He went abroad, saw advancements, came back home to replicate same to his best of abilities. Today, they go abroad, see achievements, come back home empty headed only to siphon what we are managing, stack it abroad where they just returned from and help those ones continue with their advancements. Sometimes, I wonder if this new generation of leaders have mental problems.
PropertiesRe: Land Grabbers (Omo Onile) Storm Idimu, Lagos (Pictures) by Yoighaman(m): 11:12am On Nov 04, 2019
henrylowe:
There has been a lingering battle in my area for the past ten years between the landlords and land grabbers known as Omo Onile. It's in Idimu (Mafon and Egunje Bus Stop axis)

If my memory serves me right, they've come more than four different times with thugs and policemen to raid and destroy people's properties. But this time, they came again with a stronger force on Friday, November 1st with a "court order" that they've finally been granted ownership and possession of the land, and accordingly to them, their family brought the land way back in 1975.

They brought over twenty thugs including policemen to start terrorizing people. They chased both tenants and landlords from their houses and locked them out. The most saddening part is that these thugs now work as night guards just to ensure anyone who breaks the padlock is beaten to pulp.

They were out on the watch to ensure nobody made a coverage of it and I can remember how the policemen that came along with them descended on a young man and beat him up for taking pictures of the event.

Even the so lawyers of these land grabbers were the ones giving orders and motivating these thugs to be breaking people's doors and bringing out theirs properties before locking them out with their own keys. They don't care if have Cof

Now, no one can enter their houses. Many people can't even go to work as they are now are now sleeping elsewhere. No empathy at all for both pregnant women and nursing mothers.

Now they are demanding for ratification from landlords on the said lands in which failure to do so will result to demolishing of their houses by this family. I heard they are making outrageous demands from these men who are already at their old age.

The earlier Lagos state government addresses this issue, the better.

I decided to bring this up on Nairaland so the whole world can see the inhumane action of land grabbers melted on people

LolaO:
My relationship of 5 years ended in the most heartbreaking way.

He got transferred to Asaba from Lagos and months later just stopped talking to me, no communication, no closure, nothing, just like that.
It’s been 5 months now.

This is someone I had planned my whole life around.

Distance does not make the heart go fonder.

I am so hurt, it hurts.
So sorry dear, there's nothing as painful as a relationship silently ended without any reason or form of communication, it hurts so much, just even a sentence to know why, would ease the pain. I'm not bothered about who is at fault, ending a relationship in this way and manner is very unfair and cruel but hey! you have to move on if all efforts don't yield any result, don't force yourself on him, that might backfire later in life. Cut your losses and painfully move on, you would be fine along the way and find happiness again but most importantly, look inwards, unto thyself be true, check to see if you need to make amends and please do and always understand that the best is always yet to come, the beautiful ones are yet unborn, you never know what tomorrow holds for you. Cheers sist, best wishes.

Should you be thinking about what will happen to her or should you be hoping her investigation finally help in solving the problem? Why can't we just focus on the positive side for once.Na so we go just dey fear fear dey go? As nobody fit do am she come do am.Then we gather hand support her abi? Na so developed societies take start all over the world.

So what if she's my sister? Is she not a sister or a daughter to someone already? Her mum is proud of her just as most Nigerians.

Are all the lecturers more powerful than the other 200million Nigerians? We can gradually improve things in this country Only if we combine to fight a just cause always one at a time.
If we don't start thinking right and helping each other we will never be able to solve most of our problems.
I agree with you, she did a fantastic job and we applaud her for it but the point is, she needs to thread with caution, this is a country where her citizens are exposed and investigations are quickly swept under the carpet, we all know what happened to journalists who did exactly what she did even in the developed part of the world, the name Jamal Khashoggi should ring a bell. We support and would continue to support her but truth is, she has put her life at risk and she needs to watch her back. Her revelation has been helpful, no doubt but if anything happens to her, the same people who are hailing her now will forget about her in a hurry. This is not a matter of being fearful, it is a matter of being careful and wise.

Why are people up there saying what they are saying? You guys are embolding these lecturers by talking that way.How are we going to stop these evil acts if we keep having this timid ,defeatist,slave-like attitude towards these issues.Look no freedom is handed freely to anyone, you fight for freedom.Have someone close to you not experienced these issues? The senate and president will definitely get to the bottom of it if she is harmed. We should all be supporting her.So lets talk like we should and rally behind her ah! ah! wetin!

Should the lecturers send students to harm her. They also, should know we are all fighting for our sisters, girlfriends and wives now and in the future.
If she were your sister, wouldn't you advise her to thread with caution? If anything happens to her, nothing would come out of it, just forget it, she would only be fondly remembered thereafter.

Rubbish, the CBN is there deceiving people, you implement stamp duty charge of N50 for POS transactions thereby driving people away from agents, yet you are shouting financial inclusion. Someone should borrow sense at the CBN. The policy is anti- masses and agents should be excluded, very simple logic. If the government desperately needs money for whatever motive they have, the masses shouldn't be the ones paying for it.

Hmm! I never knew he was the financial of NADECO? At least, you're right about Tinubu's strategy from the early 1990's till now as one working from the background.
Well he played his own path just like Great Ogboru back then in the Orkar coup. Both fled overseas while the real men took the scalp.

But the real hero's are those who stood their ground in the face of tyranny. They didn't run but fought with their all. These were the real hero's. The likes of Pa Enahoro and Alfred Rewane etc.
He who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day, that's what some heros do, ask Ojukwu....Pa Enahoro , Alhaja Suliat Adedeji, Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, Pa Rewane etc. were heros all the same.

We know who led NADECO, the likes of Pa Alfred Rewane, Pa Enahoro, Ndubuisi Kanu, Pa Reuben Fasoranti and many others.
Tinubu was a nobody back then.
Tinubu was a nobody back then? Are you serious about this assertion? Do you call someone that bankrolled an entire organization like NADECO a nobody? what could all the people you mentioned have done without Tinubu, he was their chief financier and a strong force in NADECO, why do you think Funsho Williams was asked to step down for him in 1999 as Lagos State governor? I agree the people you mentioned were the elders but who was the brain behind the whole plot? Tinubu. He's always been a strategist, he lies in the background and schemes, that's always been his style, that's why I feel a bit concerned about him alledgedly wanting to become President come 2023, he is a kingmaker and I personally think he should remain one.

And you think the north will vote a yaribanza over their own?

You people are truly deluded.

Since 1999, the core north has always voted a northern Muslim.

Why do you think that will change in 2023?

To win elections in Nigeria you must clinch the middle belt .

This is what Buhari achieved in 2015.

Tinubu has no political structure or connections in the north central other than in Kwara which Saraki is plotting to reclaim.

How in God's name do you expect the north and north central to vote Tinubu?
They can vote for Tinubu if he gets endorsement and strong support from Buhari.
