I had wanted to make a post concerning the maximum points obtainable from IELTS for language skills. We mostly recommend for people to get a minimum 8777 in the LRWS. I was playing with the CRS tool for a friend and the results seem to support this 8777 asa being the safe threshold for English skills above 124 with maximum being 136. To start off, the CRS does not give absolute scores for some of the sections so in trying to get as close to 8777 the below is what results. That might contribute for a little difference in the expected results.

Listening - 8.0
Reading - 7.0 - 7.5
Speaking - 7.0
Writing - 7.0

This above combination gives 124 points for English Language skills which is not the maximum points obtainable

When your Listening is bumped up to 8.5 - 9.0 as below, you get 127 points....still not the max points available

Listening - 8.5 - 9.0
Reading - 7.0 - 7.5
Speaking - 7.0
Writing - 7.0

From the minimum 8777 in LRWS as recommended here the points increase by about 3 points for every 0.5 increment in scores for each section. So you might want to analyze your test results to see if you can get some extra 3 or 6 points for the 0.5 increase to be obtained from going in for EOR or retaking the IELTS.

Max points of 136 is obtained from getting the below score ranges

Listening - 8.5 - 9.0
Reading - 8.0 - 9.0
Speaking - 7.5 - 9.0
Writing - 7.5 - 9.0

So in conclusion, to max out your 136 IELTS points any test taker should seek the below matrix at a minimum or better.

Listening - 8.5
Reading - 8.0
Speaking - 7.5
Writing - 7.5

My 2 kobo....Na cochtrane e dey do me so. May you not go through bigfido's wahala for IELTS in Jesus' name!!! grin

Salford was my original account till spambot got hold of my account; hence, I had to open a 2nd account wink. Salford1 is logged in on my phone and salford on my laptop.

University jobs are relatively stable aslong as students keep enrolling in the programs. Job opening in universities would indicate if position is contract, temp or perm. University here sometimes do drop unpopular programs if enrollment has been low consistently for some years and this means lay off if no transferable skills, but this is not common.

I have never seen or heard of Universities here offering staff quarters like they do in Nigeria. You would most likely have to get your own place in town. I lived in staff quarters life all through my stay at uni...lived in a bbq owned by one of dad's friend. My dad was an alumnus of the samd uni and a lot of his colleagues stayed back to lecture.

Your field is IT, the Canadian experience wahala hardly affects IT careers. IT is the same everywhere in the world.
Thanks for the response. Interesting that you mentioned the bolded. I have been strategizing on how to respond to the Canadian experience trap using the same line of reasoning if it should ever come up in the job search process. I will ask if Canadians have developed their own unique IT systems which is different from that found elsewhere in the world? grin Just kidding though...We shall overcome!!

So there is Salford and Salford1 on this thread? Is it me not being observant enough as I just realized this after having been on here a few months? angry huh

I have a question about working in Universities or Colleges as non-academic staff. Does anyone have experience in this area? Specifically in IT? Do the Canadian universities offer the kind of stability and career longevity as the government jobs seem to offer? Do the Canadian universities/colleges give accommodation for their workers? Forgive me if these questions are silly & odd. My African me asking these questions. I was born, bred and buttered on a University campus for 30+ years of life, living in very decent university housing and enjoying the serene and sane environment and just moved out recently after parents retired so although I didn't like the relatively slow pace of University life/work compared to the corporate world where I work in currently, I'm seeming to lean towards that environment for Canada. My seniors in the field who work with the Univ/colleges in the US seem to be doing well and settled nicely there, and also considering that I will be settling down in Canny with someone who is headed for academia I'm wondering how life will be for a University-based family in Canada. My eyes light up when I see these academic institutions advertising roles in my field with quite decent pay and benefits. Am I chasing "fools gold" as @maternal puts it? cheesy wink All contributions from all landed seniors are welcome @Blackbuddy @TheCongo2 @maternal

Good Evening House
Please Guru I need your advice on this as it is causing chaos in my home.
In our PR application, My husband was supposed to be the PA, when we wrote Ielts, He had LRWS 7.5,7,6,6.5. I had 8.5,7,8,7 . The issue now is that he wants me to be the PA which of course was not the initial plan.
His background---
He graduated 2011, served 2012/2013. Started working and was being paid 150k. 2016, He obtained his Master's degree which we have accessed with WES and he is currently in Canny on a student Visa.

My background--
I graduated 2016, just started Nysc This month. I started working this year and my salary is 40k as a Teacher. I have accessed my B.ED with WES.

Due to the Ielts and PR requirements, who is in the best position to be PA?

Should my Husband sit for another Ielts?

Do you think I can be the PA with of course forged work experience documents?

I anticipate your candid advice.
thanks
Please proceed with bolded for a handsome 5-year ban angry shocked and only God knows what the effect on your husband will be in Canada.
Let your husband resit the IELTS as he has the required experience and is already in Canada. Don't jeopardize your prospects with "unwise" forgery....

I think you should do this only if you feel comfortable with it. Scouring through the thread, I have seen cases of people who weren't too comfortable using it and I have also seen cases of people who said some used it and got PPR. It's important to note that IRCC has not explicitly required that people submit deed of gift, but it seems to have worked for some people (no doubt). As far as I can tell, it evolved from the canadavisa site into Nairaland. Nairalanders embraced it and some have used it successfully.

Check these links, you'll get the mixed feelings about this famous "deed gift" thing.:
https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/677#58780700
https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/552#57598715
https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/683#58809082

And for at least one person, a bulk of the money entered into her account without a gift deed. No explanations, lol:
https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/736#59214871

If you want to do the deed of gift, here are some formats:
https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/124#46058842
https://www.nairaland.com/2624318/canadian-express-entry-federal-skilled/261#53487248

From my own observations, you should be fine with a deed gift. If you still have doubts, then buy treasury bills with the money well before 6 months and present those.
I hereby do confer upon you the position of Senior Nairaland Big Data Analyst and Scientist. Bros, you do all!!! grin grin

I was considering this o. I was just scared as my employment letters and ref letters will say HR officer and HR manager respectively.
Does anyone think this will be an issue. Using NOC for HR professional?
There is nothing to be scared about my dear sister. It is possible to put 10 different NOCs for 10 different roles. Just indicate that period X from Y date to Z date was HR officer NOC and same for HR manager NOC. Nothing spoil for there.

Good afternoon my canadian family,

Please i have some gray areas i need help with:

1. I worked in a place for about 6 months before gling for NYSC. i want to get reference letter from the place without gtn from nysc.
is this possible? and how would i go abt it? Is it possible to to get a reference letter from the place you worked at? We wouldn't know about that. You have to speak to them. Would it be acceptable for your application? Yes, if it falls within an eligible NOC and if it will contribute towards the required work experience need for eligibility

2. does my spouse need to provide statement of acct? If you have the required POF balance in your account you dont need your spouse's acct stmnt. If you are using their balance to supplement the POF requirement then yes you can

3. if i have been rejected visa before, do i need to upload documents showing it? No, no, no.....all you need to do is to answer "Yes" to that question in your application.

thank you.

Please bro for other province with my bachelor's degree in medical science and Ielts broad band 5.5 last year can i get nominated by any province for NOC 3219 /NOC 3414

Please help me let me know where to start
Start by bettering your IELTS grades because 5.5 might not even be eligible for Express Entry. Aim to get at lest scores of 8777 in LRSW. Use the CRS Calculator to assess the potential number of points that you can alos gain with your profile.
