SLIDE waxie: The mission of the OP is to try to say justice is only for the poor! People stealing billions aint killed, abi?

Now, tell me, even if he stole N20, does it sound like a good thing to steal?
What is your point exactly?

I think we can all agree that stealing is bad, but what we should discuss here is the level of punishment, and ofcourse we should seek to apply justice to all persons in the Country, we just have to be consistent with punishment for varying degrees of wrong doing.

CelebritiesRe: Late Students Kneeling In-Front Of Bowen Chapel? by YoshiMaster: 7:47pm On Apr 16, 2013
Private Uni or not, it is totally weird to still be PHYSICALLY PUNISHING students at that age.

Can't they give them a strike if they are late? Then maybe if you get couple of strikes, you may face suspension.

That is a mature and democratic way to handle students, especially UNI level students for crying out loud.

I personally would never kneel before a VC for any proposed wrong doing.

I would have to first of all stab it with my fork multiple times to make sure it's dead first.

and due to my weird amnesia, I may end up stabbing it again the next morning.

Solution: Remove the head, and you have a very beautiful cake.
BusinessRe: Online Stores In Nigeria: What Is Your Experience? by YoshiMaster: 3:37pm On Apr 06, 2013
Hi Guys, Please allow me to chime in.

Online shopping in Nigeria is def still in its infancy, however, let's not kncok all these online stores.

Online shopping offers so much that for us to totally disregard that shopping avenue would really be a detriment to Nigerias continuous economic growth.

Online stores have the ability to offer lower prices than ur typical department stores, which usually have insane amounts of overhead being levied on the goods you enjoy.

Take the gaming store I rep for example, JUST CONSOLES NIGERIA, they are able to offer low prices on games due to very minimal overhead, thereby making it possible for the end users to receive their goods at somewhat reasonable prices.

We are having a data revolution in Nigeria, and her citizens should be able to enjoy every benefit that comes with that, including shopping deeply discounted items from the comfort of your snugly pajamas.

If you are in doubt then opt for cash on delivery. I however believe that method of payment would be phased out soon due to some buyers changing their minds after products have been shipped.

All in all please don't knock all online stores.

A message from JUST CONSOLES NIGERIA, your online store for affordable games.

I really don't know what to make of that, could it be there was another threat in Lagos?

@ROSSIKE

Any idea of when the transformation will impact the distribution networks?

The distribution lines are terrible, all mangled up, as I'm sure you are already aware.

I do applaud this development, and will pray they overcome all obstacles along the path to making this news happen.

Just wanna know about the distribution networks, because the way it is now, despite the level of generation, random people can still climb ladders to connect node points illegally. Some people might not also experience the new level of improvement due to broken networks, and low rated transmission lines handling improved power generation.

Mr President!

I mean Mr. Seun, why are you limiting the applicants to web designers only?

What about those of us that want to promote other businesses by running beautiful banners created with Photoshop.

I am trigger happy with Photoshop, and itching to pull the trigger on this ad campaign, so please open one for all sorts of businesses so that people like me can pull the trigger.

youngies: Imagine yourself visiting a community called Basa Komo in the FCT and all of a sudden, you come face-to-face with a crowd. You move closer and are confronted with a helpless infant, struggling to set himself loose from the grip of community leaders, who want to bury him alive.
So sad, but I just sat in my chair and wondered what I would really do if I saw something like that happening in front of me. I wonder if I would be brave enough to be the lone voice of reason in the face of so many unreasonable barbarians, or if I would fear for my life.

This needs to stop.

I pray every sane Nigerian that witnesses such episodes as these, ALUU beating e.t.c would have the courage to stand up to such people and end it, or at least be quick to call the police to disperse the barbarians with their big guns.

The souls of the victims are surely in Gods hands.
PoliticsRe: Man Jailed For Causing Road Obstruction by YoshiMaster: 7:29am On Mar 27, 2013
This is a ridiculous story if true, why sentence him to 3 months in jail, and why is the plea bargain fine just N100.

I don't get both of these penalties at all.
PoliticsRe: GEJ Should Be Impeached - LA Times Joel Brinkley by YoshiMaster:
I don't like it when people use the argument "we are 160 million people, so the money cant go around".

Do we really expect the government to go around and split the money, giving cash to everyone?

What we need are quantitative improvements for example:

. POWER SECTOR: how does having 160 million people change the fact that we haven't added significant amounts of power back to the national grid. Adding more power has nothing to do with our population size. For instance if we added another 4000MW to the grid we would have upwards of 8000MW. This is the kind of quantitative achievement that we are looking for.

. ROADS: Again, how does having 160 million people impact the construction and maintenance of our road networks? Its not like the 160 million are living in a country as big as the U.S.A, no, they are living in a small area, with national resources enough to fix all the roads in the country despite the 160 million residents.

I could go on and on but my fingers are hurting me.
PoliticsRe: NNPC Driver Sells Fuels From His Truck....(pix) by YoshiMaster: 11:33am On Mar 24, 2013
Reference: You said corruption everywhere but then recommended the police. Is that not a paradox. Can the police be everywhere? How many policemen will you need to stand on every street, every filling station and in every office, how many. And if graft is everywhere, in the police nko. Who will police the police.
I said I would start with the Police.

Metaphorically speaking, one would say we need to POLICE the situation of Corruption right?

Literally, I am simply recommending that we strengthen the police force, at least to the point were you and I would be able to report whatever grievances we may have with each other when we feel wronged, or cheated and have the matter taken seriously.

Now by strengthening, I really mean a complete overhaul from 19TH century to 21st century police. If you noticed I said we should increase their salaries, and have new academies, thereby reducing police corruption and preventing unsatisfactory persons from entering the force.

oyb: it is not hunger, it is greed ad irresponsibility

truck drivers get paid well

90% of the corruption in this country has nothing to do with poverty
I agree with you, I guess what I am trying to point out is maybe the differences in CORRUPT actions taken by the wealthy and the not so wealthy.

Like what you just said about people mixing water with fuel. I just don't want to believe that action was caused by greed alone, I mean greed to the rich might be to add and extra 5-30% on a contract, or not even do it at all, but for a guy to mix water and fuel to be used in peoples cars, that one is quite deep.

Now on some level it really shouldn't matter as corruption is corruption, but we should at least address the fact that few humans on this God's earth can survive on N18,000 per month while feeding, and transporting themselves to and from work, let alone figuring out how to shoulder responsibilities beyond himself, without resorting so something else. I want to plug that hole at least, so that really there would be no excuse to be corrupt.

mercylicious: I can't stop laughing at d pics.
The way Naija is going with social media...
I've just been thinking, can social media fix naija's corruption?
I believe it can, the OP has gotten us talking right?

Next we need a video of police extortion to be put on youtube.

Now imagine if we have a bunch of videos on youtube titled "Nigeria Police Collecting Bribe at Checkpoint" for the whole world to see, then whoever is in charge would sit up.

In other countries, a check point is taken DEAD SERIOUS, because for there to be a checkpoint, more than likely something serious has happened, but in Nigeria, we all know what checkpoints stand for.

Its like crying wolf all the time, and when the real wolf comes, no one believes you. The Nigerian Police has bastardized the idea of a checkpoint, and when ever there comes a time when their bosses need the citizens to take checkpoints seriously, the citizens might not be easily reoriented because they always see checkpoints at collection points.

So yeah, social media will be a powerful weapon given to us to defeat corruption in any way we can, but for now,

Someone please expose checkpoints, we need video not picture. I myself might invest in a spy pen, only cost bout $50.

oyb: I work in downstream

tankers are measured at the depot on departure and measured at site on arrival. They fill with water to hide the shortfall from the customer.
Oh wow!

Don't they stop to think of the damage that might do to the end user, that is just sad.

I guess our people are that hungry.

We need to raise the standard of living in this country once and for all, and continue fighting corruption.

What would I hear next, water in champagne?
