ifyalways:
i dont think igbo Izugbe is the everyday lang. of any part of igboland.igbo izugbe however looks more of Anambra/Enugu dialet than of Imo/Ebonyi/Abia.
Guess its chosen as the central Igbo cos its more easier to be written and pronounced.
Ify ndewo!

Your postulation may not necessarily be correct. Now let us look at some igbo izugbe words and see if they are more of Anambra/Enugu or Imo/Abia

English words Igbo izugbe usage Anambra/Enugu dialect Imo/Abia dialect
land/ground          ala                  ana                                     ala
up/sky/high         elu                     enu                                     elu
day                 ubochi                  Mbosi/ubosi                       ubochi
night                 abali                     abani                                   abali
now                 ugbua                    kita                                   ugbua
one                 otu                         ofu                                   otu
food                 nri                         nni                                   nri
bed                 nani                      soso                                   nani
long/tall           ogologo                 ogonogo                                   ogologo
Leg/foot           ukwu                    okpa                                  ukwu

Note that I am not trying to assert that all igbo izugbe are of Imo/Abia origin, but to prove that it is not more of Anambra/Enugu dialect like you asserted.

Echelon, comments are welcomed
Culture › Re: Igbos come show your proverbs skills by youngies(op): 9:50am On Jan 21, 2009
Echelon, isn't central Igbo (Igbo izugbe) a dialet of a particular group? I mean some group speak it as their everyday Igbo language. If it is so, why was it chosen as being 'central' (izugbe)?

Politics › Re: Dora Nkem Akunyili (OFR) As The New Information Minister by youngies(m): 1:49pm On Dec 18, 2008
From my humble perspective, it is the PDP in her home State of Anambra that is setting her up for destruction, in connivance with the PDP national head office in Abuja.

It has the finger print of Andy Ubah written all over it, Corrupt Ubah being as it were, the only strong PDP candidate for March 2010 gubernatorial elections in the state, will have a very strong contender in the person of Akunyili with the sentiments of being a tested performer and a woman if she decides to contest in that election.

The script is programmed to setup Akunyili to self destruct. By the time she will be through as Information Minister, not many a Nigerian especially Anambrarians will still hold her in high esteem.

If any family member of hers is reading this thread, they still have a chance to stop this impending destruction of our Amazon by convincing her to reject this appointment. But as always, they may have already been beclouded by the spoils of power.

Time shall tell

I think the decision to use a .ng domain name should be given to clients but not forced on them. The .com domain name does not mean your website is US-based. let's be very clear on that. It means it is a COMmercial website (at least that was the original intention), and that is why it's so popular - it is a generic TLD. So the idea that Nigerians are not being proud of their country when they don't use the .ng domain name is flawed, in my opinion.
The reason why the .com TLD is perceived as American is simple - it was originally issued by some US agency and though maintenance of the TLD has transferred from organization to organization, it is still administered by an American agency or firm.

Not many US companies go with .us domains, as not all UK companies go with .co.uk. The problem with getting a country-code TLD is that you are perceived as not open for business to the rest of the world - you are only open for business to people in that country or region (as in the .eu domain names).

If I am a shoe designer based in Nigeria and I need a website, I go with .com TLD, because in all likelihood, I might grow to become an international brand in the future.

Now if I am a Nigerian e-commerce provider (like a Nigerian ebay, for instance) I should go with a .com.ng TLD, because this is my target audience and I don't intend to change that. However, I register .com and whatever else for security and to avoid legal battles later.

Again, I speak from my experience. It will be very unfair to blame the management as not being ready to issue these .ng domains out. In fairness to them, for you to obtain a .ng domain, you do not really need to talk to any of the NITDA staff if u are not going to use their servers.

Just fill out the online registration form, then wait for it to be auto processed, that may take a while, say 2 days or so. They will call you to confirm your admin contact, then you are go.

Issues of downtime can be blamed on infrastructure just like we have then in power, health, school etc.

as many pointed out in an earlier thread on this subject that is the point. the integrity of the nigerian brand is very high as you know. you come accross as someone with vast knowledge of this subject and you are saying security of info does not arise. i wonder why you said that. i personally will not volunteer my enemies name onto some website let alone mine.

we own various names through oneandone, godaddy, register.com, registerfly and hostmonsters for years. even when registerfly was in serious trouble the migration to other registrars was trouble free. i wish the .ng luck and success but i wait to see many questions answered first
The bold part refers.

Maybe I didn't understand what you were alluding to in the first instance, If my memory serves me right, this was what you initially asked:
what is the security of info like with naija domain registrations. do you have to give your credit card details and what is the gaurantee it wont be compromised?
I was trying to explain to you that you do not need to put your credit card info like (e.g your PIN) while filling the registration form.

.nd tld is being controlled by Nigerian government through NITDA, so I fail to see your reason for being apprehensive in filling out a form for a domain registration, whereas you will be cool to enter your correct personal info when filling out a JAMB or NECO form. Isn't it the same government, the same country?

My point is that a busy site like nairaland cannot afford to have incessant down-time which normally associated with .ng domain.

I really do not know how much Seun is making from this site, but he should be wherever that butters his bread.

No, you do not have to give any account details before you could register your .ng domain. The issue of security of your credit card does not arise. Maybe you need to open the registration site and look at fields in the form for registeration, http://db.register.net.ng

Thanks

It may not be in the Seun's best interest to pursue a .ng domain for nairaland for now, because nairaland is about the busiest online naija forum. It cannot afford intermittent down-time that .ng domain is prone to.

Hopefully soon all the issues with the .ng tld will be taken care of, only then will I suggest that for Seun for a site like nairaland.

you are right. as a matter of fact before any new domains are released to the public every company is given the right to buy up. it is generally higher than the usual price but it is worth the agro of trying to stop fraudulent/illegal use later.
NITDA goes to the extent of calling your administrative contact to confirm before you could be registered

the white guy who was responsible for the registration 3 years ago told us in an email you have to have physical presence in naija.
The white boy's name is Randy Bush, he has since handed it over to Nigerians

where is the registration site please
The registration site is http://db.register.net.ng

Many thanks, Yawa

To break it down further, do you know that, that Indian 419 with .ng domain must be known by the authorities before his .ng domain is registered? If at anytime it proven or even suspected that his domain is involved in illegal business, NITDA has the right to shut it down without any recourse.

Again, you as an individual or comapany can't go and register for instance "www.cocacola.com.ng" if you are not the real coca cola company. If you do, at anytime it is discorvered by coca cola, they may ask NITDA that they want to reclaim the domain from you, and NITDA will have no option than to oblige them.

yawa,

Does it necessarily mean that any company with .ng domain is based in Nigeria?
Webmasters › Re: Why Not A .NG Tld? by youngies(m): 1:48pm On Dec 13, 2008
It took me approximately 6 days to get my .ng domain to be resolved. It is also free, if you already have a hosting company that will host your site. But you will be required to pay if you also want to host with NITDA servers.

My experience - the down-time of .ng servers is not encouraging and needs to be addressed asap.

Cre8tivity and Muza you really do not need to burst a vein in trying to drag AIG Ribadu's name to the mud. I give it to you guys, you have tried very hard as paid agents would always do, but you are not doing a good job at it.

Just to rub it in - AIG Ribadu's name has been etched in the positive side of history, his achievements stands tall on the minds of so many Nigerians. This you can't change no matter how hard you try, because we are witnesses to it.

I see probably why you are so desperate to put an end to Ribadu.  If you let him be, because of his pedigree he may one day be back into the system again, and will surely open the book for y'all (pro corruption), however, unfortunately for you people, if you succeed in killing him, you may have made a MARTYR out of him.
