OYB, Tell me 10 governors who were broke and couldnt afford an American Ivy league education before ascending the governorship

Since 1999, we have had at least 72 governors- 2 from each state. 10 would be a good number to ask for. The only ones I might accept are those old men AD governors (Lam, Akande, Adefarati)
Chiwoke Mbadinuiju: This guy was an ordinary 'Charge n Bail' lawyer pre 1999
Chimaraoke Nnamani: This guy could barely rob two pennies together. I still remember the first time I met him
Chris Ngige: This dude was squatting with in a fellow doctors house here in Abuja before his election

I am not surprised at some of the silly comments here about Okocha. I reckon that many of the posters here on the average are in their 20s. They have neither really known Etim nor Jay Jay.

How can you accuse a man that cared for you when others felt that you are rapist and a crack head
How can you accuse a man that is more famous, popular, skillful and richer than you of being envious of you

What will Jay Jay gain by scandalising Etim, NOTHING
What will Etim gain by scandalising Jay Jay, SOMETHINGS

I feel strongly that Etim should be screened for dope, I guess he has gone back to smoking some shit again since he started making some few coins from HiTV

With regards to this name thing, let us not make this a fundamental issue right now, if people want to keep their online ID and use as names for now and for whatever reason at present, they should be allowed to. We are not trying to scare anybody or put people under pressure. Whatever people are comfortable with sharing for now they should share. You have to bear in mind that a lot of these things have started before, just look for a thread called something along the lines of "A sweet wind is blowing" or Nigerian revolution or any of that. I guess the wind didn't blow for long afterall, LOL. We want something sustainable and an environment whereby we are able to receive help, ideas and other things that might be neccessary to carry out actions, as well as help those who want to impart positively whichever way they want to.

So what do you plan to do to change Nigeria?
We plan to start by our good conducts in everything we do anywhere and everywhere.
We plan to form a huge 'Voice' of sanity.
We plan to use every media available to humble the arrogant bad leaders of ours
We plan not to let dudes like you make us lose steam and focus

Name  --------------------  Young

Location------------------- Abuja, Nigeria

occupation/interests--- xxxx

Candidate Number ----- 2

I think the occupation is important so that we acan ccess the depth of the members of the Movement. It doesn't really matter if you are an Okada rider cos we will need all the possible hands we can find.

lol, u are as close to the Queen as I am, just that she left Naija 49 years ago.

Il take your objective as number two but maybe u can help me further, cos I think you missed it a bit. My thought is to add an abjective that sees us as a movement that will rebrand Nigeria's image. ie, the rest of the world should stop seeing us as 419ers or thieves but should start seeing the good sides eg the Phillip Emeagwali, and the loads of Nigerians all around the world and in Nigeria settin a standard in their chosen fields  (and I hear a Nigerian recently developed the cure for diabetes), stuff like that.

pls help, lol
Erm. . . you want me put all these in one line? Who do you think I'm? Jakumo?  tongue
Politics › Re: Nairaland Political Party? by youngies(m): 3:10pm On Feb 06, 2009
LOL. . . when people that live very close to the queen is finding it difficult to phrase something in English, I wonder what you expect us that are living close to malam to do  cheesy I will give it a try

2. Through our MOVEMENT cause a positive attitudinal change in our country, bringing out the great people that we truly are
Politics › Re: Nairaland Political Party? by youngies(m): 2:47pm On Feb 06, 2009
What the HELL with all these time-wasting attitude Charles  grin

What's wrong with laying the proposed objectives here, yes here on this thread so that people can read and if they are convinced about it they can join the MOVEMENT.

Please lets start toying with the objectives now until will perfect it.

I suggest the first objective:

1. To unite and groom a new set of Nigerian Youths who will be filled with a great sense of patriotism, leadership qualities and integrity

Politics › Re: Nairaland Political Party? by youngies(m): 1:54pm On Feb 06, 2009
Alrite, the most critical things we need now are:
[li]Name of member[/li]
[li]Location[/li]
[li]Occupation[/li]
Now this will immediately help us to ascertain our spread and areas of profession competences. Should I say that we gonna need a whole load of good young radical lawyers on pro bono.
Politics › Re: Nairaland Political Party? by youngies(m): 1:45pm On Feb 06, 2009
@Sky Blue
I have no doubt in mind that this is doable, if we all pull resources together. A lot of energy, time and finance will be needed no doubt, but I don't want to look at these excuses first. I want us to hit the ground right away, no dramatisation.

If no one can get us a registration site asap, may I suggest that we start signing up here. No procrastination, 2011 is already here!
Politics › Re: Nairaland Political Party? by youngies(m): 1:25pm On Feb 06, 2009
The idea of holding conferences, workshops and seminars won't do it for me. I have grown tired of cheap talks but no action. Anybody that is wilingl to be a member MUST be a foot soldier.

I will soon come up with a Strategic Action Plan (SAP) which will be easy but dogged. It will be tasking and requires a lot sacrifices from all foot soldiers.

I volunteer to be one of the coordinators of the Abuja sub-chapter of Nigeria

The motive is a good one, but a political party? Hell NO.  I will rather suggest we begin something like a MOVEMENT or a PRESSURE group

I suggest we call it YOUTH MOVEMENT FOR CHANGE (YMC)

Qualification for joining: Nigerian
Qualification for explusion: Tribalistic and/or corruption

As a 12 year old in Enugu so many years back, I was traumatized when the police at 9th mile corner delayed our Christmas journey by more than 1 hour asking my dad to prove that his VW beetle car engine was not stolen. He was accused of hiding the VW engine at the back (boot) instead of the front of the car

It took the intervention of some senior police officers to let us off the hook.

Be it Yoruba 'H' factor, Hausa 'F' factor or Igbo 'R' factor, I don't have any problem with it, but I always feel scandalized when I hear it on TV or Radio from News casters. It shouldn't be excused from them.

You can look up my email addy from my profile, or you can send me offline msgs in my YIM; that will get us started. You will need so many perspectives

Kim, if you dig deep there is enough materials from different perspectives and stand point here on NL that can write 3 volumes of your dissertation. Just do a search on these words 'Niger Delta', 'MEND', 'Militants,' etc and start reading.

Good luck
