It pains me so much to hear how cynical some Nigerians can be. Why should the question be "will it last?", "will it be sustained?".

Someone has demonstrated strong political will to implement what we thought was elusive and all some people could think about is cynicism.

Well done Kwara

Your sarcasm has a lot of embellishments cheesy

@Billymuse
We are now on the 6th page of this thread and all you have is conjectures, hearsays, baseless rumours, idle talks and the stereotypes of the worst kind. You have absolutely no proof of anything. I guess you must be having a good laugh at your tomfoolery

hahaha. . .Mr. knowall cheesy

Your after-thought statement is laughable to say the least. From the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

Your heart is filled with conjectures, stereotypes and hate especially for the Igbo people, no matter how hard you try you can't hide it.

You may not be aware of this before, but now that people are pointing it out for you. I guess you should purge yourself of this malice and start doing something useful, say shaving the hairs on your armpits, it is bushy grin

If not that you have revealed that you are an adult in another thread I would have called you a minor. Again, if many Nigerian will be like you our problems would have been half solved. You are not pretending to show all who you truly are - AN IGBO HATER! cool

Keep it up.

After Akala, Iwu and Ahmadu Ali, Ojo Madueke is the Nigerian polital personality I hate most. How could I have ever considered such a man for president.
Jarus, Islam said you shouldn't hate cheesy

@Poster
By world standard, Ojo Maduekwe is not fit to be the headmaster of a public school, but by Nigerian standard Ojo Maduekwe is very fit and competent to be our President. Is it not in this country that we have had characters like Abacha, IBB, OBJ, Abudulslam and even Yaradua being our president or head of state. Our standard is so low that I won't be surprise if Ahmed Sani Yerima becomes our next president in 2011.

These Nairalanders

After carefully analysing all the comments posted, I have categorize all the commentator into 4 major groups:

Group one
The hypocritical Massob mafia,  masquerading as nationalist who delight in the fact that Ibo's are dominating our markets but are sadden that the presidency is out of reach. They labelled me a tribalist well cheering on there kinsmen who has tribalised trading activities in Nigerian markets.

Group two

The Apologist, people who understand the truth but try to profer a reason for the domination. Mostly, their explanation is hollow because they sacrifice the truth on the alter of fear and intimidation. Fear for the consequence of such discussion in a fragile social climate like Nigeria, where the most mundane issue could lead to social strife and unrest.

Group three
The pacifist, they are uncomfortable with the issue and want it to go away, swept under the carpet as if it never exist. Their motto is: see no evil, hear no evil.

Group four
The cliffhanger, they are happy to see the issue been discuss, but decided to sit on the fence.

Majority of people in these groups domicile overseas and live a premium existence , others are the elite. I'm talking about the ordinary Nigerians , not those who are employed in such fancy sectors like banking, oil; but those  employed in the real sector - trading/ small scale, which is the last employable place for the common man. I speak for the  man on the street, who head to the market day in day out, for Their livelihood.

I speak for the millions of ordinary Nigerians who are the victim of Ibo mafia determined to dominate all our market at all cost.
Your hate filled conjectures is what is keeping you and anyone else who thinks like you down. Free yourself

Let say for instance that all your insinuations are right, but how you arrived at the bolded part is silly, unintelligent and gross.
The Igbos of the SE has only 5 States out of the 36 States + Abuja. This means that the markets in the 5 Igbo States is only about 13.5% of all the markets in Nigeria. Also according to the 1999 Census figures, the Igbos are the least in population among the major tribes.

If the 'Igbo mafia' deprives others access into these 13.5% markets in the Igbo heartland, how come they now have a magical access into all the minor and major markets all over Nigeria including the ones in your village? The answer was given by Babalawo as thus :
You have refused to see the positive side of being an entrepreneur. These are skills people pay thousands of pounds to study at business schools. May be you need to read Osisi and co posts again and learn how u can make money creatively. Personally, I have learnt the art of business and run my business with a lot of input from my Igbo friends and by the way I'm not Igbo! I be Ijebu boy. . .they call us igbo-minded yorubas in business
Igbo people are not  interested in stopping  anybody from engaging in trading in any part of Nigeria. What you however fail to understand is that Igbos don't just wake up one morning and open up stalls or shops and start selling. Billymuse, they undergo on-the-site strenuous training in the skills and art of entrepreneurship for a minimum of 7 years! Now you can hardly compete with such a person if you are not equipped yourself.

Just that you may know:
Ochanja market in Abakpa Nike Enugu has an entire line where the Hausas sell watches and jewelries
Owerri Road also in Enugu is dominated by northerners selling and buying foreign currencies
Ogbete Market also in Enugu has Yoruba line, where they sell ashoke, tire n dye and juju making ingredients
Garki market also in Enugu is 95% dominated by northerners selling goats, rams and cattle
Artisan market also in Enugu, 60% of the livestock market is controlled by northerners
The same is obtainable in Onitsha, Awka, Ariara, Abakaliki etc.

It will be a fair assessment if you say that Igbos control electronics, spare parts, clothings, building materials, footwears and stationeries markets
The northerners control the livestock, food items (e.g. tomatoes, yam, beans, corn, potatoes, onions etc) markets
The Yorubas apart from selling weaved items, hand crafts, they are not necessarily a trading people, they are more into service oriented businesses like banking, insurance, telecom etc.

So dear Billymuse nobody is stopping anybody from doing anything, it is just that people have their natural or adaptable preferences. Thank you

But seriously speaking, the hatered and envy that many Nigerians have for the Igbos is mind boggling, and I think that is what spurs on the Igbos
