Romance › No Valentine! Saudi Authorities by youngies(op): 4:36pm On Feb 11, 2008
Religious police in Saudi Arabia are banning the sale of Valentine's Day gifts including red roses, a local newspaper has reported.
The Saudi Gazette quoted shop workers as saying that officials had warned them to remove all red items including flowers and wrapping paper.

Black market prices for roses were already rising, the paper said.

Saudi authorities consider Valentine's Day, along with a host of other annual celebrations, as un-Great Religious.

In addition to the prohibition on celebrating non-Great Religious festivals, the authorities consider Valentine's Day as encouraging relations between men and women outside wedlock - punishable by law in the conservative kingdom.

The Saudi Gazette reported that some people placed orders with florists days or weeks before Valentine's Day in anticipation of the ban, which is a regular occurrence.

"Sometimes we deliver the bouquets in the middle of the night or early morning, to avoid suspicion," one florist said.

Others were planning to travel to the more religiously liberal neighbouring countries, Bahrain or the United Arab Emirates, to celebrate.

Saudi Arabian authorities impose a strict Great Religious code that prevents men and women from mixing.

When dancing it, they hold on their left hand the head of a conquered enemy, while brandishing their sharp machete that is dripping with blood on their right hand. That is the nature of Igede dance. Hope you copy that.  smiley

Not really, but some of them have lost direction. They have twisted the word of God to justify their greed. Worst still they embarked on a brain washing stance of their follwers - making themselves demigods.

Papito:
Finally, The church should channel his resources towards putting smiles on people' faces. let them cater for God's children since government have failed in their primary responsibility. I want to see churches taken over the economic empire of this country not for the sole aim of making profit but helping the less privilege who cannot even afford government established business.

May God help us all
That is what the church is already doing by:

1. building the biggest auditorium and entering into the Guinness Book of records instead of Book of Life.

2. building schools and making sure that no children of the poor is able to afford it

3. also going into real estate business (renting and leasing properties to banks and restaurants)

4. Don't forget they are also neck deep in aviation and the oil sector.

What other aspect of the "economic empire" of this country haven't they covered?

Please go take your coffee before it gets cold  wink

May the soul of the departed rest in peace.

After reading all the posts made and the points adduced so far, I think that 4Him have been able to make his point very clear without any ambiguity.

No matter how we try to colour it or the level of 'Bishop worshiping' has left much to be desired in some christains. There is no denying the fact that our churches are fast becoming business conglomerates. Even the conservative Catholics and Anglicans are gradually joining this business mentality kind of running the church.

CU and there likes are not the 1st mission's school we are having in this country. Back in the recent past when we used to have mostly Catholic, Anglican,  Methodist or Baptist  mission's school, we all know what it used to be like in those days. They were schools that anybody and everybody that wants to go school can afford and not this type that it is only the upper class can afford

There main thrust of those missions school then was not to be in the Guinness Book of record as having the biggest auditorium or having estates with resident banks, filling station, shopping malls, hospitals and movie theatres, but to instill the highest and the best ethical and moral standards in their students while at the same time propagating the good news.

I do not blame some of the people cursing 4Him because of his postulations. I reckon that they are simply young people whose views have no benefit of any hindsight.

I am just very curious why the western media is also not providing us with the statistics of the 419 victims. Why are they sheilding them? Don't you think it will be interesting to also know the country that ranks highest in "419 victims"

Afterall in the eyes of the law there is no diference between a thief and the person who receives a stolen property. It takes two to tango.

Politics › Re: 419 And Nigerian Ethnicities by youngies(m): 6:00pm On Jan 30, 2008
Big B1, I am really suprised at you. 419 for crying out loud is a Nigerian term and cannot be best defined by Wikipedia than we Nigerians. What Wiki is talking about is only one aspect of 419 which is advance fee fraud.

419 is a parlance we all know means - saying one thing and meaning something else.
Politics › Re: 419 And Nigerian Ethnicities by youngies(m): 5:41pm On Jan 30, 2008
We need to get some thing straight, Big B1 why not define specifically the context of the 419 you mean here. For I know that 419 can come in various shades and colours.

For example:
1. Money doubling or wash wash  grin

2. Credit card scam

3. Advance fee fraud

4. Selling of a part of Nigeria without ratification from the NASS while pretending that you are obeying a court order

5. Spending N300 billion on road construction and maintenance on paper, whereas no one can see the new roads

6. Beign forced to pay electriciy bill every month even when there is no electricy for the entire 30 days

7. Carrying out aggresive campaign that discrimination of HIV/AID patients is bad, whereas the FG examplified by the Nigerian Police and NNPC as part of their recriutment policy does not hire anyone with HIV status as +ve

8. Promising that the general election will use e-Voting system, only for us to see ballot bags!

9. Pumping money to build Abuja without setting up any stakeholders meeting, but to develope the ND, there will be series of stakeholders meeting

10. Swearing to protect the citizens of a country, only for the president to order the annihilation of an entire village not once in cold blood

11. etc.

To my mind, the Federal Government of Nigeria and her leadership since independence are the biggest 419ners

I think the phone is suferring from some form of hangover. To re-activate it, dip the phone back into a mixture of water and alcohol, wait for 5 minutes, then wrap it in an alminium foil and microwave it again. Then you will be good.

If symptoms persists, then throw it away fast cos it has transformed into a nuke head undecided
