Too many Indian movies our ladies watch this days makes them think it's in reality, which is not. When I visited one of my brother in Lagos state He deals on foriegn and local movies and stationaries, I tell you the way ladies rush India films, I started wondering what actually is wrong with our home made movie without thinking the other side. Indian movies has done more good than harm in our society to the extent of disorganizing the emotional feelings of our young girls if there boy friend doesn't possess those qualities in the movie. Or not as romantic as the Indian guy they saw in the movie, that is always why they complain about Nigerian guys, without thinking if those things are REAL or NOT. Keep on watching Indian movies and keep on waiting for a guy that possess that of the guy in Indian movie till you reach 30 years na then you go no say you be old Cargo. Nobody be it male or female will possess all qualities you may want. Let she that has ear hear. |

https://saharareporters.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/news-page-images-480-wide/page_images/news/2012/ptb2.jpg Pastor Tunde Bakare’s bracing criticism of the state of Nigerian politics continued today, with his spotlight turning on First Lady Patience Jonathan. Before delivering his latest salvo in a series that began on July 22, Mr. Bakare reviewed the firestorm in cyberspace over his previous sermon titled “How to Change the Government Peacefully.” He remarked that “whether anybody likes it or not, we are not waiting for time to tell. The time is already telling.” In a fervent defense of a political bent in his recent sermons, Mr. Bakare stated, “You may say I no longer teach you Bible but politics. That’s fine. Use it, and we will have a new nation.” He criticized the declaration of self-autonomy by the Ogoni people. Even so, he condemned the insincerity on the part of the Federal Government and the State Security Service (SSS), carpeting them for pretending to be unaware of the developments in Ogoniland. “On the 2nd of August, Ogoni people declared their own political autonomy from Nigeria’s political landscape, and 72 hours after this declaration, the Federal Government is playing deaf and dumb. The Special Assistant to the Information Minister says they are not aware of such declaration. Whereas, I had preached a simple message on how to change government peacefully and make the society better, and within two hours the tape had landed on the table of the State Security Department that they began to hound me the following day,” said the pastor. Mr. Bakare’s topic for today was titled “Personal Insecurity/Inferiority Aborts Your Destiny (Part 1).” The talk lampooned Mrs. Jonathan’s recent covetous behavior, describing her as suffering from a psyche of characteristic inferiority. The activist pastor, who was a vice presidential candidate to General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.), asserted that Mrs. Jonathan’s background as a stark pauper caused her to seek “aggressive compensation.” He added that, because Nigeria’s First Lady was unsure of the reality of the provisions she currently enjoys, she wants to secure her sudden opulence at all cost, even at the detriment of public interest. “Now I know why Jonathan’s wife has become Permanent Secretary; they are preparing her for the position of the Prime Minister of Niger Delta Republic,” quipped Mr. Bakare. He condemned the desperation with which Mrs. Jonathan seeks to be the head of all Africa’s First Ladies, a permanent secretary in Bayelsa State, as well as her possible greed for political power in a prospective Niger Delta Republic. Mr. Bakare stated, “In the time of Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe and Ahmadu Bello, they annexed their resources to the development of their regions and there were serious competitions in each region, which in turn contributed to the federal purse. Now, it is the turn of Otuoke people, and they are declaring autonomy.” Mr. Bakare prayed that any agenda set to balkanize the nation would fail. “We are not saying that people should not control the resources in their own regions, but they had benefited from the largesse of our unity in the past. Now, they cannot divorce when they have their own child.” He added, “It is not true that Nigeria was formed by Lord Lugard, no. The Bible says in Acts 14 that God predetermines the boundaries of all nations. He only used the hands of those in the Western world (to form Nigeria).” The pastor’s sermon suggested that President Goodluck Jonathan’s gluttony for power and the First Lady’s actions portrayed a couple bent on executive misadventures. “Within ten years from when he was working among the marine animals, [Mr. Jonathan] was appointed to become deputy governor, and then became acting governor. Without even thinking about it, he was appointed as vice presidential candidate and, by doctrine of necessity, he became acting president. Before he could study how to act, God factor made him President. Now, he has not even performed in 2011/2012, he is planning for 2015. His middle name is Jeroboam!” said Mr. Bakare. In a series of declamations, Mr. Bakare asserted, “When the shoeless takes over, he does clueless things. When such men of low estate find themselves in power, terrible things begin to happen.” He added, “It is the timidity of the inferior that prods them to cover up. Deep rivers flow in majestic silence.” In today’s sermon, Mr. Bakare narrated a reported encounter between Mr. Jonathan and Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie during a visit by the former prior to the 2011 elections. Bakare related that Mr. Jonathan had requested that the Catholic prelate pray for him to win the 2011 election. In response, the latter reportedly prophesied, “You will win, but you will not rule.” Pastor Bakare stated that the prophecy had been realized since Mrs. Jonathan and members of a cabal had overshadowed the president. https://saharareporters.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/news-page-images-480-wide/page_images/news/2012/nd_pirates.jpg Gunmen in Nigeria have stormed a Dutch oil barge off the coast, killing two Nigerian navy sailors and kidnapping four foreigners, a naval officer says. The navy has joined the search for the gunmen off the Niger Delta. Two navy sailors, among a group providing security, were wounded in the raid. The foreigners are from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Iran. Attacks in the Niger Delta have declined since a 2009 amnesty for militants ended years of conflict. The ship that was attacked belongs to Sea Trucks Group. The raid happened early in the morning, more than 30 nautical miles (56km) off the coast, the officer said. The heavily polluted delta is Nigeria's main oil-producing region. The incident will be of great concern to Nigeria's oil and gas industry at a time when the government has just announced that oil production has reached an all-time high of 2.7m barrels per day, the BBC's Will Ross in Lagos reports. Critics say the peace deal which allowed the rise in output remains precarious. The militants targeted foreign oil companies, drawing on local support in a region still blighted by poverty despite huge profits for the multinational energy corporations. Local people wanted to see more of that wealth used to improve their housing and services. Despite the amnesty, kidnappings of Nigerians in the Niger Delta have been happening at an alarming rate, our correspondent says. Piracy is increasing in parts of West Africa, he reports. The International Maritime Bureau says it has recorded 17 pirate attacks in Nigerian waters this year - a significant increase on 2011. Just take a look at what Clinton said: "The “implication that China has been extracting Africa’s wealth for itself is utterly wide of the truth,” said an English-language commentary from Xinhua on Friday, of Ms Clinton’s comment that the US is committed to a model that “adds value rather than extracts it”. " US will add value to what? could you believe that. US add value lol. US never go to where there is nothing to gain. SYRIA is lucky they don't have what US needed most, they would have seen how to drill billions barrel of oil in an hour. |

African Billionaire Dangote, Nigerian Police, Disregard Coroner's Verdict To Compensate Accident Victims. https://saharareporters.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/news-page-images-480-wide/page_images/news/2012/Dangote.jpg Africa’s richest man, Aliku Dangote, has refused to pay up compensation for about 40 deaths caused by his company’s truck driver. Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, who is worth N1.7 trillion ($11.2 billion) according to Forbes magazine has, through his company - Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc - refused to respect a court ruling which resulted from the killing of dozens of people by one of his employees, while on official duty. A driver belonging to the company had rammed a company truck into waiting vehicles, resulting in an inferno which claimed over 40 lives. The chief coroner, after investigation of the incident, had found the company driver culpable and ordered the company to compensate the families of the victims. The total compensation to be paid by Mr. Dangote’s company is less than N200 million, about 0.01 percent of what the billionaire is worth. The ruling On April 25, in a crowded court room in Lagos, Tajudeen Elias, chief coroner at the Ikeja Magistrate Court, pronounced his verdict on what is, arguably, the longest dragging inquest since the advent of the Coroner's Law in the state in 2007. The 19-month long inquest, which suffered more than a dozen adjournments, was initiated by Access to Justice (a non-governmental organisation), and Falana and Falana Chambers (a law firm), to determine the cause of a horrific accident in 2010; when a Dangote Sugar Refinery truck rammed into waiting vehicles along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The resulting inferno led to the loss of over 40 lives as human occupants and metallic parts got charred in one of the severest fatalities on the expressway. Reading his verdict in a capacity filled room, Mr. Elias told the Sugar Refinery Company, owned by Mr. Dangote, to issue a public apology as well as pay a “minimal compensation” to the accident victims and their families within three months. Mr. Elias also indicted officers of the Nigeria Police for mounting a roadblock which caused a traffic snarl in the minutes leading to the accident. Also, the verdict ignored the sugar company's lawyers' claims during the inquest that Salisu Lawal, the driver of the fatal truck, was dead. Mr. Elias mandated them to provide him within three months. Mum is the word Three months after Mr. Elias delivered his verdict; the management of the sugar refinery have neither issued the apology nor paid the compensation to the victims and their families. In May, one month after the coroner's verdict, Access to Justice, one of the parties who instituted the inquest, wrote a reminder to the management of Dangote Industries. A similar letter was sent to the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar. Both letters did not receive any response. “We made these presentations to Dangote as well as the police. As I speak with you, they have drawn a blank,” said Joseph Otteh, the Executive Director of Access to Justice, a non-governmental organization. “They gave us the impression that they would (respond), but they still haven't. “I guess they are testing our resolve, whether indeed we would carry out what we said we would do,” Mr. Otteh added. In the letter addressed to the Chairman of Dangote Industries, the group demanded N160million as cost of losses suffered by the accident victims and their families. “Since the 15th of August 2010 when these unfortunate multiple accidents occurred, up till this moment, Dangote Sugar Refinery has not lifted a finger; it has not contacted any of those we represent for anything whatsoever,” the letter, dated May 22, reads. “At the time of the accidents, your company representatives did not provide emergency first aid care to our clients, did not visit the injured ones when they were hospitalized, or visit families of deceased victims to offer condolences afterwards,” the letter added. Access to Justice, on behalf of the accident victims, also demanded a N218 million compensation from the Nigeria Police. They also asked that the officers who set up the checkpoints be “searched out and disciplined accordingly”. Phone calls to Sunday Esan, General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Dangote Industries Limited were not answered. Text messages were also not replied. Ngozi Braide, Lagos State Police spokesperson, said that she was unaware of the coroner's verdict. I just resumed at this post,” said Ms. Braide, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, who was appointed in June. To the courts In his verdict, Mr. Elias described Dangote Industries’ attitude towards the accident victims and their families as “appalling”. “The company ought to show serious concern in the course of its corporate responsibility to the public,” said Mr. Elias. Access to Justice said that the “only alternative” left for them to press home their demands is the court of law. “It would have been a lot better if, having been told in non-ambiguous terms that their truck was primarily responsible for that disastrous accident, that they would have, at least, made some efforts for their sins,” said Mr. Otteh. “Ever since that accident happened, Dangote has not lifted a finger to even say ‘who are those people whose lives were shattered, traumatized by the acts of our company or those who are employed by us’,” Mr. Otteh added. Mr. Otteh said that his group has not rushed to court after the inquest because it is “finalising” its court papers. He said his organisation wrote to Dangote and the police with the expectation that the two parties would be willing to resolve the issues, based on the coroner's verdict. "Unfortunately, they are the ones forcing us into a court action,” he said. https://saharareporters.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/news-page-images-480-wide/page_images/news/2012/Olajide%20Mutairu.JPG Given the inability of Nigeria’s security agencies to contain the menace of terrorism in the North, which may be threatening the peace of other States and communities in Nigeria, traders in Alaba International Market, Ojo, today held a security awareness and disaster prevention conference. The Electrical Dealers Association of Nigeria [EDAN] organized a lecture to keep its members in the heavily-congested hub of electrical and electronics components in Lagos on alert in view of the fact that some of the security attacks have been achieved through the use of devices with electronic/electrical components. Chairman of the EDAN, Engineer Paul Chijioke Okenwa in his address, advised dealers in electrical items to consider themselves as their own security, noting various leaders in the country have made efforts but failed to make peace prevail. “The quest for peace has been illusive and a mirage,” he said. Okenwa stated that the activities of the dreaded Islamic sect in the nation has affected the confidence of communities and has necessitated everyone to be on watch, regardless of whether the crisis has reached a particular vicinity or not. “The activities of Boko Haram, kidnappers, communal clashes, cultism, religious bigotry, armed robbery, etc have eroded peace in this nation that people are suspicious of their next door neighbor,” said Okenwa. ASP Olajide Mutairu of the Ojo Police Station, who represented the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umaru Manko, re-assured the market of cooperative security efforts for the electrical/electronic hub. Alaba International Market is said to be the largest electronics market in Africa where all major international brands of electronics and allied products are offered for sale. The market occupies a location that is approximately 2km by 1km in Ojo.
