Duration of course does not make it supreme or better. For a biochemist to switch to Laboratory work, especially in the area of chemical pathology or biochemistry analysis should require a training or internship for about 6months.

You don't even know my field, you've already made assumptions.
Answer this if you are MLS
Are medical lab scientists marginalising other non-MLS in the laboratory?
Will a Medical laboratory technician earn the same salary with a medical lab scientists?
Will medical lab scientists allow a medical lab technician or biochemist or microbiologist head the department?
Will the association of medical lab scientists allow a conversion or recognition of other laboratory workers after training?

The bitterness may actually lie in those medical lab scientists that would rather seek equality when it comes to top hospital positions BUT would not want same equality in their departments.
I pity all those that are marginalised that keep contributing money to those heading their organisation to enrich themselves in the name of fighting for top hospital positions.
Don't go and write IELTS and Plab. Be doing local champion there

Why do you want to switch to Medical Lab Science?
Are you marginalised?
I hope the MLS won't avoid this thread

The discrimination that exists in Laboratory Sciences are not heard of. But the Biochemist, Laboratory. Technician, microbiologist etc working in the hospital will rather contribute money to fight against the doctors than to seek equality in theor department first.

You can also imagine, police had to kill innocent mobs demanding justice. Why are policemen trigger happy?
Well that policeman met his end rudely.

Sequel to this https://www.nairaland.com/6895790/armed-robbers-attack-3-banks

At the last count on Tuesday, December 21, 12 members of the robbery gang who attacked banks and security formations last week in Egbe and Odo Ere communities in Yagba West Local Council of Kogi State, killing four civilians, a police officer and a bank guard have been arrested.

The Guardian learnt the arrests came through combined efforts of security agencies, local hunters and vigilantes.

Sadly, the death yesterday of Princess Omolayo Olugbenga (nee Owojaiye) from bullet wounds, eight days after she was admitted at ECWA hospital, Egbe has raised the death toll to seven.

Last wekTuesday, the two communities were a theatre of war as residents and business owners came under attack by the armed bandits believed to be bank robbers.

During the robbery operation, sound of gunshots and fire grenades resonated nonstop about 3:20p.m. lasting for an hour, as residents scampered to safety and turned Egbe, the commercial hub of Yagba West Local Council into a ghost city.

The Guardian gathered that security formations including divisional police stations were the main target before it shifted to banks in Egbe.

The robbers later invaded neighbouring Odo-Ere, the council headquarters.

When the rubbles settled, four people were confirmed killed in Egbe, including a bank security guard in Egbe, simply identified as Taiye.

Taiye, a graduate, who was recently employed as a guard in the newly opened bank, was allegedly shot on the head after the robbers’ repeated failed attempts to gain entry into the well fortified bank’s vault.

Point of Sales (PoS) pay points, supermarkets, including the popular BOFAD Foods and Confectionery, located adjacent First Bank, Egbe, along Kabba Federal Road were all raided, while owners and customers were dispossessed of their cash and other valuables.

A story building housing BOFAD Foods and Confectionery was riddled with bullets, while huge sums of money was carted away by the robbers.

The coordinated robbery involving males and female actors, extended to Odo-Ere, about three kilometres drive from Egbe, which saw another bank in the headquarters destroyed through the launch of dynamites and other explosives.

A police man was shot dead in the process, while a girl, whose name was given as Kehinde, was hit by stray bullets, following the pandemonium that greeted the sporadic gunshots fired by the assailants to scare away members of the public from the scenes.

A church chorister identified as Brother Paul became another victim of stray bullets, as he was shot on the head after he unsuspectingly walked into the robbers, near Egbe Microfinance Bank.

The late Princess Olugbenga, a worker in the Kogi State Civil Service was shot on her legs and abdomen while using the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) when the robbers struck.

She, alongside other unidentified victims who sustained bullet wounds was admitted at the ECWA hospital Egbe and was said to be responding to treatment until her death, yesterday.

MEANWHILE, a positive indication of counter security response by a combined team of security agents has emerged as the army, police and local council vigilantes, immediately swooped into action to ensure the criminals did not make their escape.

The Guardian gathered that soon after the bandits thought they had a field day, the security architecture mounted surveillance around forests of Yagba, following tips that the bandits were still within the territory.

The local hunters, who apparently understood the terrain, offered leads to monitor likely escape routes the robbers could explore.

Last Wednesday, residents observed a police helicopter circling Yagba West neighbourhood all day, extending to Thursday, in what later was learned to be air surveillance and part of search efforts to locate hideouts of the criminal gangs.

Yagba West Council Chairman, Pius Kolawole, in a statement last Wednesday, said: “Join us in prayer as our security agencies are seriously still battling with the robbers till this very moment as there’s no escape routes for them.”

The effort paid off. The gang was tracked. All tactics deployed to escape from the forests failed them. Not even when they resorted to firing grenades from their hideouts as it became a mistake and further exposed their hideouts.

An unofficial report said nine of the robbers were killed in their hideouts. However two members of the fleeing gang were apprehended at Igbaruku, a suburb of Odo-Ere, while pleading for water to drink.

Following a tip-off by vigilant villagers, the duo were promptly apprehended by the local hunters and kept in the police cell at Odo-Ere.

News of the arrests attracted a visibly enraged crowd, who were gathered at the Divisional Police Station at Odo-Ere, demanding instant justice.

Sadly, an eyewitness said when the police failed to yield to their demand, the crowd became unruly and in the ensuing melee, an officer allegedly mistakenly fired gunshots that led to the death of two yet to be identified persons.

The mob retaliated, killing the erring police officer, and razed part of the police station in process.

On Saturday, three more members of the fleeing robbers were intercepted at Ejiba, two others were held while trying to board a commercial vehicle in nearby Isanlu.

“The driver of the vehicle, who pretended to take them on the journey, instead drove them into the police station. The other two were intercepted in Isanlu. During a stop and search operation, they were found in possession of N2 million cash, wrapped in the emblem of a new generation bank, Egbe, one of the three banks robbed,” the eye witness said.

All suspects arrested have been moved to Kogi State Command headquarters in Lokoja, for further investigations and prosecution.
More Arrests/Confessions On Monday and Tuesday respectively, more members of the gang were arrested in various locations. The common causes of their arrests were hunger and the irresistible urge for food and water.

Unconfirmed report said the robbers were aged between 17 and 30 years.

However, a top Vigilante leader, disclosed that arrested members of the gang confessed that they were 27 of which, at least nine have been killed in the bush.

One of the arrested robbers, who identified himself as Ojo Jimoh, was visibly tired and wandering around someone’s farm in Oke-Ere in search of what to eat, when he was caught.

In his preliminary confessional statement via a video streamed on the social media, he said they lost coordination and rest following the hot chase by security operatives and vigilantes complemented by airstrikes, of robbers lost coordination.

Jimoh, who claimed to be a first time robber, said for nine days, he was alone in the forest, tired and hungry and wished he could turn himself in, if only he could find someone to lead him to the police station, “to explain myself”.

Reward for Bravery

Meanwhile, Apapo Omo Yagba (AOY), a WhatsApp group of influential Yagba sons and daughters have joined governor Yahaya Bello to make donations in appreciation of the bravery of the local hunters, vigilantes, Odua Peoples Congress (OPC), Agbekoya and other locals, who participated in the effective counter response.

Yagba West chairman, Kolawole while making the cash presentations on behalf of Governor Bello and AOY, noted that the donations were in appreciation of their bravery and not to pay for their services.

“All vigilantes, local hunters from Ogga, Omi,and other parts of Yagba West that participated in arresting the robbers; our brothers from neighbouring Yagba East and Ijumu, who came to assist us, each was given cash reward by His Excellency, including representatives of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and Agbekoya for their proactive response to the sad invasion of our communities on December 14.

The money is not to pay you for the job you have done, but in appreciation of your role in ensuring that the robbers did not escape after they robbed and killed our people and thought they had a field day.

FamilyRe: My Younger Brother Is A Bone In Our Throat. Pls Help! by yunqdady: 8:33am On Dec 23, 2021
Cyntie55:
Good day nairalanders. Season greetings to y'all. I'm so angry right now. Please I need mature advice.

My father is not a learned person but he make sure all his children are graduates. My younger brother(last born and only son) rounded up his Nysc few months ago, we're just 2 girls. My elder sis and I. My elder sis is a nurse in Austria (3 years now), she's married with a kid in Austria. My big sister send money home once in 3 months, and I have been the one receiving the money. I share the money exactly as instructed by my big sis. I have never cheated anyone, Infact my Dad and Big sis communicate very well. My Dad trust me so much.

My younger brother is always angry, He said he feel cheated all the time. He shouts and talks to me anyhow like I'm his mate.
Honestly speaking, I gave my younger brother more love and respect that he could ever imagine. When he was serving, he would call telling me he need 10k urgently, sometimes 20k, that he will pay back. Immediately I will send it to him and he would never pay back. Same thing he does to my father.
If we ask him what's he using his allawee for?? He would angrily say so is becus we're sending him "chicken change" that's why we're asking jamb questions.

He said we don't regard him, he called my Dad a SIMP, he said my Dad listen more to my big sis and I....but he don't listen to any of his suggestions.

My brother is a 2:1 (second class upper) graduate in economics from UNIBEN. After his Nysc all he does is to sleep and eat. My Dad's good friend told my brother to come to Lagos and resume work with him. He refused. My Dad ask him if he wants to further his education (masters or professional courses)he said no....Okay follow my Dad to his cement shop and help him (my dad even promised to pay him salary) he refused....I overheard him on a call with a friend and i suspect he's now into yahoo yahoo.

Look at what happened. My big sis sent us money yesterday to celebrate this festive period. She said I should give my brother 50k, I should take 80k and give my father the rest (abt 250k). My Dad is always aware of everything.
I even added 20k out of my money and I transferred 70k to my brother, I was left with 60k (becus she also sent me hair and I plan to sell it becus I already had enough). You can imagine this ungrateful idiot started insulting me, that I cheated him. the fool angrily withdrawn the money from his account and SET IT ON FIRE (70k). He called my elder sister and started warning her saying "if he can't receive the money henceforth, she should stop sending him money again that he's the man of the house".
My Dad gave him a resetting, resounding, hot and dirty slaps. He pulled out a knife, deflated my Dad's car tyres and ran away from the house.

Everyone is not happy. I don't want my brother to live a wayward life. He's 24 years old. Please nairalanders Help!
He's smoking already. Hemp damages the head. Benin is a terrible place to grow up.
Get army to arrest him and detain him. He go mellow. Result of improper training and over pampering
FamilyRe: Is It Right For My Wife To Serve Her Brother Food Before Me In My Own House by yunqdady: 8:28am On Dec 23, 2021
SayAsSeen:
Hello friends, I'd like to ask intelligent and older minds for advise about an issue before I react.

My wife's elder brother is visiting my house and my wife has been serving his food first before serving and bringing my good, in my own house.

Please I just want to ask if this is wrong or right or even just normal?

I worked all through the night and was famished by the time the day broke this morning. I gave her some dough and told her to prepare me noodles and sardine, emphasizing on the fact that I was very hungry.

NOTE: Her Brother was still asleep at this time.

She prepared the meal, split it into two. Woke up and served her brother first in my guest room before coming to my room to give her hungry husband his food.

I was so mad, I ignored the food, went out to smoke a cigarette. While I was doing that it occured to me ask for advice here, because I didn't want to ask anybody I knew personally.

I still don't know whether to be mad, or to just ignore it.

I am a strong believer of common sense and respect and her actions this morning lack both! It would have take her less than 30 seconds to give me my food then go wake and serve her brother!

Is she told me she needed money for something and I put my younger sister's need over her's-no matter how tribal her's might be-i know how she'd react and the amount of making up I'd have to do.

I am trying to be very mature about this, that's why I keeping things anonymous?

Besides I'd like to know, I possibly can't be the only person who has experienced this sort of situation because they say there's nothing new under the sun. Please who has ever felt this way, I am very understanding and if something irks me, it would irk every body else too.

Wish I could explain better

FamilyRe: What Men Should Know About Pregnancy by yunqdady: 6:41pm On Dec 18, 2021
kaffy4bill:
A father can play an important role in his partner’s pregnancy. Your job as a father begins long before your baby is born.

Pregnancy is an amazing, scary, beautiful, anxiety inducing nine month ride for both the moms-to-be and dads-to-be alike.

Most dad wish they could have a little first hand knowledge before their wife is pregnant for the first time

Fortunately, I am here to help as much as I can with information and support grin wink

Each pregnancy is incredibly unique and completely different, right up till delivery. Expect the unexpected, it rarely goes according to plan undecided

Cravings are real. She will probably have many cravings throughout her pregnancy. Keep her happy by going to get those fries or chocolate at 10 p.m. It might be a little inconvenient for you, but it will make her happy. A happy wife is a happy life.

Women will typically gain 25-35 pounds (11-15kg) during their pregnancy.

She will probably become tired because she is growing another life inside her. Her body is hard at work making the necessary changes to accommodate your baby. She may also experience restless sleep, causing her to be more tired. Remember that she is tired so support accordingly.

A symptom of pregnancy is going the bathroom, a lot. Getting up several times throughout the night to use the bathroom will become a routine for her. That 2 hour car ride with no stops will turn into a 2 and 15 minute car ride with two stops. She’s not happy about it either, so no complaining from your end.

There will be a lot of pillows that start appearing on your bed. In time, you may find that there is no room for you anymore. She will probably start cuddling with a giant body pillow instead of you. Don’t take it personal, she is just trying to get as comfortable as possible.

Her body is stretching, shifting and moving in all directions, there is bound to be aches and pains. She is carrying additional weight that her body has to support. This extra weight will cause stress on the lower back. Back massages are a great relief for her at the end of the day. Massages in general are a must for pregnant women. Whether they are foot, back, or hip massages, it is your job to help her out. Relieve as much tension as possible.

There are moments where you can’t really help because during pregnancies, there are times of discomfort or pain that you cannot mend. Being there physically is helpful but there will be times when your partner want to be left alone, don’t take it personal if she asks for some space, she just may need to handle things on her own.

Be careful what you cook or wear as she will be incredibly sensitive to smells. My advice is to be careful with anything and I mean anything that can be fragrant grin

Hyperemesis gravidarum is not morning sickness, it is the severe form and she is not finding it any funny. Please be supportive

Understand your wife’s/partner’s love language because there are so many times during pregnancy that you are going to want to help your wife and she’s going to want you to help her but she can’t verbalize or even really come up with a way for you to help. Having a default list of things you can do when you don’t have clear instructions is key.

Do not neglect date night with her. Take advantage of and enjoy the free time before the baby comes.

You are going to be terrified, you are going to question everything you do and know. And you are going to be fine.

Your partner is just as anxious as you are if not more. Be each other’s support system..

Hope this helps, which of the above resonates with you?
