fega m: am i d only female thinking in an odd way?.....sincerely urs....if am out for a date FOR THE FIRST TIME, i will either nt eat anything, or d guy pockets his cash because i'll pay... wouldnt want anyone going out to boast dt he spent some amt of money on me...especially if i know DT D RELATIONSHIP WILL END NO WHERE....just my own principle sha....dt doesnt mean am proud i guess....
My sentiments exactly, except that I stopped offering to pay for my meal. Although no Nigerian man has ever let me. The last time I offered, the guy seemed offended. He tipped the server and left the change with me (about $43). Haha!

What I find ridiculous is that she puts guys on a dating schedule just for lunch! Lolz. Guess she pigs out everyday at a Chinese buffet or something. grin
TravelRe: Nairalanders In Austin, houston And Dallas{texas},pls Respond To Dis? by Yvete(f):
Austin - Can't say much except that it a cooler version of the three.
Dallas - Schooled in the area. Hates it! Inner surbubs are spread out. Going to visit a friend from DFW to Rowlett takes forever.
Houston: Culturally diverse. Suits me perfectly! To many Nigerians if you stay in the SW Area (if that bothers you, sorry, but hey, no man is an island). If you don't want to stay close to Nigerians, move to Sugarland, Woodlands - more $$ required. grin

1] Job availability: You need to put your career and that of your wife into consideration. If you don't have paperz or work authorization, you'll find it easier in Houston.
2) Security: Check the stats with the Police dept.
3) Cost of Living: Austin is more expensive.
4) There are good Churches in all 3 cities.
5) Social networking is what you make of it.

RomanceWill You Go On A First Date For Free Food? by Yvete(op):
I found this hilarious news article online. undecided

New York fashion blogger Brittny Pierre is not ashamed to admit that she had gone out on dozens of dates with men for the sole purpose of getting a square meal. She detailed how she would meet her 'victims' on the dating site OKCupid and through Craigslist, and would go out for dinner three times a week with different men, allowing them to foot the bill every time. Early on, Pierre decided that she could not afford to only date men she actually liked. 'I just had to go full throttle and just see who was willing to take me out,' Pierre wrote. 'A meal is a meal!'

FoodWhat Is Your Best International Dish & Cuisine? by Yvete(op): 6:48pm On Mar 26, 2013
I'm always trying out new foods, recipes and challenging my taste buds. Admittedly, I've not had 'enough' foreign dishes, but so far, its a tie between Italian Meaty Lasagna and Jamaican Oxtail with gravy over dirty rice. Yum! grin

So, what is the best international cuisine you've ever had or rather, what is the best dish you have ever had in a foreign country?

jonnyp: THANX ALOT AND GOD BLESS U.ASIDE FR D GCE RESULT AND TOELF WHICH OTHER PAPER DO U THINK I CAN TENDER AND I DID NOT INTEND 2 APPLY 4 ANY NIGERIA UNIVERSITY
Write SAT & TOEFL. Your GCE result is equivalent to the American GED or Diploma; only shows that you completed high school while the SAT could be compared to the Nigerian Jamb - College entrance exam. Don't get it twisted.
I wrote WAEC, but did not use it to get into college even though I was fresh out of Sec. School at that time, kinda.

nice4life: I miss my Nigerian girls, tired of akata and others but my naija babes are hard to find here. Please help a brother and other brothers in similar position who crave for our women.
Lolz. Wow! So you now "crave" naija girls because you are "tired of akata". Lolz
Thanks for acknowledging that we're the best, Lovez it. Good Luck!
FashionLadies Eyebrows - Threading, Waxing, Tweezing Or Shaving? by Yvete(op):
Do you pluck with tweezers, wax, thread, shave or scrap it off and tattoo?
How often do you get your eyebrows done - thin or thick?

I've been threading my brows for years until last weekend. A friend urged me to give waxing a try. It hurt like crazy that I got serious migraines afterwards. Never again! I get compliments on my brows for its thickness. This hurt my feelings real bad! sad

Your school selection is fine. Good luck!
Please do not strictly rely on rankings as the sole criteria for school selection. It cannot tell you which schools best fit your background and career goals. Determine which program in what city & state offer opportunities for your growth, long-term career and personal aspirations.

Its nobody's business what schools you decide to attend, but you may not get any sympathy if you apply to certain schools that have been discussed on this thread. When you get accepted, take time to read part 3, at least.

I'll soon embark on a 6hrs+ journey to Santa Fe for the NM-INBRE conference. Abeg Yvete, wish me well here so that you don't become hater-enemy number +1. grin

kpolli: Indians slyed me twice, I keep my distance and watch my back
Oh yea? Never really fancied being a part of their "circle" till I realized that they share past exam questions and stuff. Then I ushered myself in. smiley The familiarity started this semester anyways.

Hope you find favor with the internships and job hunt. Thats all my resume used to be about; internships here and there. You need to attend more career fairs too. By the way, be willing to start with small companies that sponsor before you worry about bigger corporations. The transition will get easier overtime.

You status shall NOT die! grin

Are u going for the NSBE convention??
I think you need to stay close to the Indians cos' they get everything. I've always thought you had a job as a Computer Lab Assistant or tech support guy. If there's going to be a career fair at the convention, its imperative that you attend.
