sweetcheecks: Oh my dear Zaandrew, leave these people to what they believe. You're wasting your time. If it makes them feel good let them have it, please. We know better and we honour our helpers. They must see how the President of one of the countries that was in the frontlines of South Africa's liberation, Cuba was recieved in SA Parliament. Amazingly I have never heared Fidel Castro or Cubans remind SA of their direct involvement to liberate the Southern African countries. Not even in his speech did he want to mention it, becouse we all know it, so does everyone hence theres no need for reminders as it is an undisputed fact.

See video of Fidel Castro's reception in South Africa & Namibia.Let others keep reminding us, its sad really.

agaugust: sharaap dude, you lie too much.

F-7 jet is not crap, it carries one of the best air to air missiles in the world...PL-9, if F-7 jet is crap, then why is a world number 3 super power China's air force still flying over 300 F-7 jets today and up till 2015-2016 ?

F-7 jet is a 3.5 generation jet and good at what it is meant to do, just like the Hawk jet is not great, but will do its designed job.

F-7 jet is the best in west africa, and only 8 of the 50 or so countries in africa have a better jet than F-7.

F-7 jet will shoot down 42 out of the 50 air forces in africa.

F-7 is good in ground attack as much as Mig 21MF was. it is deadly at its level.

Nigerian F-7 jets came with $12 million worth of modern ground attack basic weapons, bombs, rockets and double barrelled cannon ammo. enough to rule the west african sub region and 42 out of 50 african countries. nigeria currently makes up for the F-7 jet weaknesses by a powerful air defence system.

Nigeria has about 500 Cobra, VBL, and BTR-3U. only about 5 african countries have such a modern armoured force.

now those are not just APC as you claim, they are all of modern modular design to work as both APC and IFV.

these nigerian army armoured vehicles are built with extra hardware options to carry anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles plus their cannon, machine guns, and mortar artillery...those are APC/IFV modular combat vehicles, stop telling lies....fool angry

"The Cobra armored personnel carrier can be adapted for various roles and mission requirements

A wide range of weapons can be mounted on the roof, including remotely operated 7.62-mm or 12.7-mm machine guns, 40-mm grenade launchers or cannons up to 30-mm caliber.
Vehicle has a crew of two and can carry 9 fully equipped troops. Seating capacity might differ, depending on variant and configuration. There is a number of firing ports provided for the occupants.
The Cobra is powered by the General Motors 6.5-liter V8 turbocharged diesel engine, developing 190 horsepower. This vehicle uses a number of automotive components from the American HMMWV, which is used in large numbers by the US Army and many other countries. Vehicle is fitted with run-flat tyres, however central tyre inflation system is optional. An amphibious version of the Cobra has been developed.
The Cobra family of vehicles are transportable by aircraft or helicopters due to it's relatively light weigh and compact profile.

Variants

Reconnaissance vehicle;
Command and control vehicle;
Ambulance;
Anti-tank missile carriers;
Mortar carrier;
Ground surveillance radar;
Forward observation vehicle;
Internal security vehicle."

http://www.military-today.com/apc/cobra.htm
Since when does that change any thing. You could fite the PL9 on the old mig 21 if you want to. And what does it matter china made it. Supper power make crapy sytems all the time.

The F7 is desghiend to fly in large numbers and intecept enemy air attacks. Nigeria does not have large numbers or any need for a inteptor. Talk about waist. 7 SU27 would have been a better deal

Yes the F7 could kill most west african air forces aircraft but then do littel els.

The mig 21 and f7 both carry small bomb loads, have poor endurance and are not ment to attack ground targets.

Wrong only the BTR 3 can be classed has a IFV. You don't even seem to know what a IFV is.

NaijaPikinGidi: You are sulking for nothing! It's obvious your Grippens are better-off for air display and political entertatainment than for serious military combat? Why are your Rooivalks still in South Africa weeks and months after your deployment? Like I said, for South Africa it's always about self-interest than about Pan-African common interest. Just take the damn helicopters to DRC instead of all the background squabbles you are having with UN insisting on getting paid first to deploy those helicopters to their final "resting place". My earlier comment below refers:
Since when are you a expert on the gripen. The gripen is in the same legue has the SU37, F35, euro fighter extra. You a fool to take it so lightly.

The rooivalk is part of the FIB, the FIB is not fully set up. And they busy in working up for deployment. And why don't you look how long it to america to deploy tanks to afghanstan. Cananda had tanks there before them.

You do know it is expensive to deploy a sytem like the rooivalk and there needs to be a loy of things set up. A logistcal line, accomdastion, storage space extra extra. This is a UN mission so they handel all of that. When CAR went hot they deployed within a week.

chris365: i really don't understand how hypocrisy has become a life style for south africans.

let's not talk about UK, Russia and other world powers that also faced such problems(many till date),
South africa was almost crippled by ANC terrorists during the good times of the real SADF. it was so bad that the country had to be handed over to these terrorist group that transformed to a political party.

you think internal insurgency can easily be curtailed militarily? why not ask britain how they ended the IRA crisis or whether SADF was even close to ending the ANC.

boko haram now attacks from weak cameroon, unable to claim one portion of land in Nigeria, even at that their leadership has been weakened within two years etc.. if that's not progress, then tell me what it is as you claim to be in the military
The UK kept a lid on the LRA for years, russia is fighting a occpastion war and ANC attacks did littel damge and were iregualer.

It was the genrail uprising that all most cripliled SA.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by zaandrew: 7:57am On Sep 06, 2013
chris365: during the ANC uprising, was it SA police that fought them or the army? simple answer will do.
Police. Sadf was in angola nambia border, SA border areas(they still there) and provided assestens to poliece operastions when needed (they still do) but internal operstions were poilce matters run by them.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by zaandrew: 7:51am On Sep 06, 2013
Henry120: The otokar cobra is also considered as an IFV. The F-7 is an interceptor, we all know that. Is an interceptor not also a fighter jet?
the cobra is most defnetly not a IFV, it is in the same class has the mamba.

intepetor is a class of fighter with short range built to defend against air attacks

That ratio remains a fraud like everything else SANDF on the African continent. How come you are unable to repeat the same feat in DRC. Stop your lies please!

The Boko Haram issue is more of a Policing item than a military matter. They only cowardly go about killing civilians using civilian appearances! The military engageed them and dislodged them and have held ground since the SoE declaration. That's a strong military for you! We do not retreat. Boko Haram has retreated, evaporated and gone underground across nearby Camerounian territory! The work to be done here is in intelligence gathering and civilian/regular police action! Military intelligence is at work, that's why the Army has largely succeeded! Help yourself now!
Just because you can not accept the truth does not mean it is not true, even seleka does not refuet there masive losses and there is no evidence that our numbers are wrong.

BH is a police matter. But they failed and need the army, who have yet to contain the matter and have even done a recall due to it.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by zaandrew: 7:27am On Sep 06, 2013
NaijaPikinGidi: That remains wasteful ... no use! No qualified pilots. I could go on! Why are you waiting to take Rooivalks and hardware to DRC if not because your SANDF is insisting that the UN must pay immediately for the cost of the deployments. That's the difference between Nigeria and your South Africa. Nigeria deploys men and hardware first ... at our own cost and asks for UN reimbursement later. So much for South African "big budget"! cool
Tge gripens have performed a number of air patrol during high profil events. Such has 2010, BRICS sumit, obama vist extra.

The rooivalks are being rushed there, they where ment to arive some time latter. And this about paper work more than money but the UN will be flying them accross.

Yes and you got to malil months after the fact and needed NATO airlifte for Serrie leon and libberia so donth act like you pay for those flights.

I did aske the UN. They said you ran away from sudan and malil. All so this is not our firs peace keeping mission. There was burrinde and lestho both were succses.

So if you need help fighting BH give us a call.

Budget does speak. It means we got mor capbliets. Has for acstion. Just over 200 South African solders took on 3000 heavly armend rebels and killed up to 800 of them for 15 dead forcing a cease fire.

Sorry you have to say why. I mean nigeria has half the budget of SA and doubel the force. Only enough IFV for barely a battlion, crapy fighters, only a small arms manfacoty abliety. Basicaly you are behind SA in every respect.

Augustine Again: you say i dont know anything about military, okay, let me teach you @fighter pilot that helicopters are neither VTOL or V/STOL as aeroplanes, go find out the meanings on google or english dictionary.

i now prove my point with a video, NNS Thunder can carry Mi-35 Hind helicopter. no need of running space for take off or landing FACT !!!!!

reason why Tanzania's army is boss over south african army in Congo DRC....33% soweto brains cannot fathom how a helicopter takes off and land

Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by zaandrew: 6:33pm On Sep 04, 2013
Augustine Again: sea spray ruin them ? you think the whole of nigeria is foolish ? that same marine paint/coating used on nigerian Augusta helicopter can be used to re-paint the Hinds, very simple paint spray job.

desert sand was damaging Apache helicopter gunship rotor blades in Iraq and it was solved with simple rubber lines on the blades. only you see impossibility in all things, do you even go to church and hear about faith ? if you were thomas edison , there will be no electricity bulbs giving the world light today.

i dont care if the NAF is using the Hind from land or ship, all i care about is to tell my fellow nigerians that NNS Thunder can carry Hind helos, and that NAF has listed the Hind as new maritime squadron aircraft.

now that a big FACT !!!

Sharaaap dude !!! angry

.
Do you think I am talking about the fram?

And the they had to fit sand filtters to protect the engein. All this was done long ago by SA.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by zaandrew: 5:55pm On Sep 04, 2013
Augustine Again: keep wasting your time. simple mathematics proved your wrong.

anyway, its so sad my @agaugust post is the one that was hidden at the near bottom of page 739 about 3 hours ago. that is why i am now writing as @Augustine Again. i dont know why i was banned, my post was very long and had many images and sources, maybe too much data got me banned and my very long post was hidden.

i posted a very long post with sources from nigerian ministry of defence, nigerian newspapapers, nigerian chief of air force, and beegeagle, showing the new list of nigerian air force aircraft to be specially deployed for maritime operations.

the list has

Alpha Jets newly upgraded maritime versions

ATR-42 Surveyor aircraft

Augusta AW 109 LUH now armed with weapons as military version with confirmation from ministry of defence

Mi-35 Hind helicopter gunship

I am afraid to repeat those sources so i dont get banned again, and all the details about new nigerian air force ground equipment and new nigerian army APC that arrived and not yet made public.

i dont know why i get banned for posting some new details about nigerian weapons and how they are being deployed or used.

sometimes beegeagle too posts some of these same things and nobody is banned him or blocked his website/blog.

.
And this means those hinds are being deployed from ships, where sea spray can ruin them. I would love for you to find a pic of a hind on a say a frigate flight deck

The A109 can carry LMGs, rock pods and other light weapons the alloute III could do the same.

Did you quote the article i get banded for no resone some times
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by zaandrew: 5:29pm On Sep 04, 2013
Augustine Again: .

that ships with Augusta Helicopter is clearly NNS Thunder.....source below

http://beegeagle./2013/01/25/naval-presence-yields-results-at-nigerias-maritime-frontiers/

this is one of the reasons why UN will not let south african military command FIB in Congo DRC, they prefer a Tanzanian military commander....UN know south africa will mislead the whole world cheesy cheesy

.
That is a A109 we never said the A109 could not land on NNS thunder and i dont care about the jayhawk (since you know nigeria does not have them) but i care about the Hind

https://www.aviationspectator.com/files/images/MH-60T-Jayhawk-helicopter023.preview.jpg

That is not Thunder or Thunders flight deck

notice in a report that claims it can carry the jayhawk they don't use it

https://images.military.com/EQGpics/hamilton_2.jpg

now see the flight deck that in theory a hind can fit on but look at the telescopic hanger size. You want to keep a non navlized chopper exposed to sea spray be my guess you going to take it out of action with out the help of the enemy

Looks can be deceiving, the stryker for example is a POS.

But hey, like I adviced you previously: go clean up those History books and read up; you may want to start with d points clearly enumerated in dis speech though. You may also want to ask yourself why Nigeria was regarded as a 'Frontier nation' even those it was never geographicali congreous to SA??
Ok why dont you find me a source where it shows Nigeria was a critical elemt in the end of apartheid. The apartheid regime did not even conceder Nigeria.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by zaandrew: 3:02pm On Sep 04, 2013
Henry120: Yeah, nigeria does need more IFV's. The BTR3 numbers are not nearly enough. This south african system would be a nice way to go, however my problem is, I don't see the army getting these SA systems. The army top brass would prefer to get them elsewhere, rather than SA. If it were the nigerian police or a system meant for the police, I'm sure we would have ordered a few by now.

There is a deep mistrust between the nigerian military and the south african defence forces.
I think maslya bought the turrets and weapons systems, and i am sure once the Iklwa goes in to production Nigeria will want them, they cost about 1 million USD

https://www.military-today.com/apc/iklwa_l4.jpg

And Nigeria is our biggest west African arms export market, and spends billions of rands here, a lot of it category A stuff
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by zaandrew: 2:42pm On Sep 04, 2013
Henry120: This no doubt is a beautiful system. My hope is the nigerian DoD looks at acquiring this system. Asides the joint training exercises between the nigerian and south african navy scheduled for February of 2014, I wonder if the defence minister signed any other agreements on joint training or acquisitions in south africa, when the president visited.
Nigeria does need more IFV, has it stands your BTR3 would struggle to equip one SANDF mechanized battalion, SA has the need for 1000 IFV (permanent and reserve force) and has 800 to 1200 with 600 active.
