PoliticsRe: FG, Resist IMF’s Deadly Pills! - Daily Trust Editorial by zeyt: 10:13am On Feb 20, 2024
Imagine IMP dictating economic policies to Nigeria just for the sake of accessing loan. This enslavement of our economy. I wonder IMP know more about what need to be done more than the FG. For any economic process or policy to succeed data is the key. But in Nigeria we don't know how many we are, that less of age categorization information or accurate unemployment record. Number of Nigerians who own what. Or even birth or death rate. No accurate data of any kind is a available. But still IMP will Nigeria what to do or not to do.
PoliticsRe: Gov Eno’s Bold move to reduce the Prices of Staple Food in Akwa Ibom State by zeyt: 10:03am On Feb 20, 2024
That was similar to agricultural subsidy that was long abandoned. Farmer desperate to sell their produce immediately after harvest are prone to lower gain. Government intervene by buying the produce at relatively high price and selling to end users at much lower price. Everyone is satisfied.
Now we are witnessing dual problem ofpoor leadership and corruption compounded by insecurity.

EducationRe: Student Loans Will Be Disbursed Directly To Institutions – FG by zeyt: 1:05pm On Feb 18, 2024
Two of the conditions that don't sit well is that the student loan is for the undergraduate and and those looking of skill acquisition Post graduate student are exuded from accessing the loan. And two the applicants must provide two FCS employees at not less than grade level 14 as guarantors.
This is selfish. Many have been looking for this opportunity but now their dream going to school is squashed again.
PoliticsRe: FG And 36 State Governors Agree To Create State Police To Combat Insecurity by zeyt: 9:23pm On Feb 15, 2024

BusinessRe: What exactly Is The Benefit Of Floating The Naira? by zeyt: 12:24pm On Feb 14, 2024
PoliteActivist:
*Politeness*
It will bring in people and investments.
Don't you see US always accusing China of intentionally devaluing their currency?
Example, if Togo devalues their currency you'd be going there to buy stuff and vacations, but if they inflate their currency you won't go

*Politeness*
It is not economic jargon, it is common sense. If my money can buy more in your house, I'd like your house and buy stuff from your house... until I realize
I'm giving you all my money!

*Politeness*
Here's just one particular example: i read somewhere that floating has reduced the rate of japa. Who is losing? Those countries that would have gotten money from visa, etc, plus take our youth and brains. Who is gaining in the long run? Nigeria!

*Politeness*
Floating is different from inflation. Also it depends on the type of country. Nigeria is the the type of country that CANNOT lose in the long run by floating her currency.
The only losers will be those who wish to travel, those who need to buy foreign, round trippers, blackmarketers, currency hoaders and speculators, corrupt government and CBN insiders, airlines, foreign countries who'd get less of our japa youths, brains, and visa money!
Oh that what is bringing the foreigners with bags of USD straight to beaur de change to collect Naira and deplete our grain market.
While we can buy little food with little amount we have
PoliticsRe: Blame Buhari Not Tinubu For Economic Hardship, Sanusi Tells Nigerians by zeyt: 7:31am On Feb 12, 2024
I may not view you as being objective as per who is to blame for this economic woe. I believe you still bear grudges. Both deserve blame. Tunibu economic team are now reduced to trial and error strategies for they are not sure of the solutions. His abrupt removal of fuel subsidies without preplanning against inevitable consequences. Tunibu confidence turn out to be all hogwash, Nigeria are still in mess and the leaders dont know what do.
PoliticsRe: Supply Shocks, Hyper-Inflation Cause Of Hunger, Hardship – CBN Governor, Cardoso by zeyt: 5:33am On Feb 10, 2024
Trial and Error CBN Governor. We all know what causes all this hardship in Nigeria: sudden removal of subsidy you deliberately choose not to mention to appease your boss.
Here in the North we use petrol to fuel irrigation engines and vehicles to take us to our farms. Then what do you expect after subsidy is gone. Likewise food processing industry you think they use energy from grid.
Let say disruption of our normal lives begins immediately after removal of subsidy.
BusinessRe: Can't Send Dollars To Nigeria Any More by zeyt: 2:34pm On Feb 09, 2024
The problem they deliberately overlooked is billions that are stolen are converted to Dollars for spending or investing abroad. Think they should start with this category of Naira killers. Not with hard working Nigerians sending or earning dollars from abroad.

BusinessRe: There Are Too Many Nairas Chasing Too Few Dollars - IMF Rep by zeyt: 7:10pm On Sep 26, 2023
t2luv1:
Which countries are those, please? Even China secured 80% of her trade surplus in Dollars. China and Japan buy 60% of US Treasury debts they can't afford to go to war with the USA because they stand to lose out on their money. Look for the past 15yrs the USA has been living off free money interest rate was close to zero on the debt. Individuals putting money in a savings account were getting a 1% yield on their savings. Now fast forward to today, the Federal Reserve has increased interest to 5% individual are now getting close to 5% on their savings the 30-year mortgage rate is 7.5% why all of a sudden change, it all boils down to supporting the dollar.
I think you should get updated on what is going on BRICs countries.

Boko Haram is an ideology while bandits are terrorists hell bent on committing crime against humanity. They impoverished millions, raped and killed several thousands.

BusinessRe: Concerns As Naira Emerges Worst Performing African Currency In 3 Months by zeyt: 9:42am On Sep 01, 2023
What is actually hurts Naira is billions of Naira are getting into private pockets for doing absolutely nothing. In proper economic setting it begets that you gets money in return for offering value in form of goods or services. Stealing of Public funds, ransom payment, bribery and corruption. These are the factors seriously damaging Naira. Other things are unproductive nature of our teeming population and insatiable desire for foreign goods. Poor quality of exportable goods for earning forex.

It best serve the Western World where their outlook and attitude to life are totally different.
