A former Governor of Kogi State, Abubakar Audu, has emerged candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state governorship election slated for Nov. 21. Audu is being prosecuted by the anti-graft agency, EFCC, of misappropriating N11 billion of the state’s funds while he was governor between 1999 and 2003. Audu emerged winner of the APC governorship primary which was held in Lokoja between Saturday evening and Sunday morning. He polled 1, 109 votes to beat his closest rival, Yahaya Bello, who scored 703 votes. Gov. Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, the Chairman of the Electoral Panel, commended the aspirants for their maturity and commitment to the ideals of the party. El-Rufai told the aspirants that accepting and respecting the verdict of the delegates was a sign that the APC has moved far ahead of some parties that have no process of internal democracy, assuring them that the party will carry them along in the scheme of affairs. In his response, Audu thanked members of the electoral panel for making the election transparent , free and fair. He called on other aspirants to accept the result in good faith and work with him in harmony in the interest of the party. “ Let us work together in harmony , we have serious task ahead. To unseat an incumbent is not easy but we can do it,” he said. Cc: lalasticlala www.thebreakingtimes.com/kogi-despite-n11-billion-corruption-charge-abubakar-audu-emerges-as-apc-flag-bearer/

When Trinidadian-born American rapper, Nicki Minaj released the artwork for her third studio album ‘Anaconda’ showing off her curvaceous posterior in the tiniest of undergarments, the Internet went into an uproar. The album soon became a hit and so was the sensual posture which has come to be known as the ‘Anaconda’ posture. Nicki has hardly had any competition with her invention until Nigeria’s singer and actress Anita Joseph decided to hit the studio for her own ‘Anaconda’ posture or something as close to it as omelette is close to egg. No doubt Anita Joseph has her share of sensual collection of suggestively sensual pictures. This one may just be one of those that will go on the top of her drawer. Residents of Ajumose, Ogbein area of Ede in Osun State were thrown into mourning recently after a jealous man reportedly set three children, their mother and her lover on fire for cheating on him. It was gathered that the victims were set ablaze by a man, who allegedly claimed that his lover was also dating another man. Punch gave the identities of the affected woman as Munirudeen Lawal who is the lover, Hadijat Adegoke, and her three children. Lawal and Adegoke were said to have been rushed to the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, as a result of the severe burns they suffered. Sources at the hospital said Lawal died on Tuesday while Hadijat died on Wednesday. The woman, along with her four children ─ Fawas (13), Ishwat (12), Sodiq ( , and Fathia (6), weresaid to be the residents in the two-bedroom apartment of the same building. It was gathered that Adegoke had a bricklayer lover, who assisted in erecting the structure, while other suspected lovers also helped to erect the structure to its present state. It was gathered that Adegoke abandoned her man at a rented apartment and invited another man to pass the night at the new house. One of the residents, who pleaded not to be named, said, “The man discovered that they were having sex. He was visibly angry. Nobody paid him attention because such drama was not a new thing here.” The visibly angry lover on reaching there subsequently set the entire building on fire. The Area Commander, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Osun West, Mr. Femi Awofade, confirmed the incident. He said an investigation was ongoing to uncover who perpetrated the act, saying the suspect, when arrested would be charged to court. Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has urged President Mohammadu Buhari to tread cautiously and be mindful of the body language of those hailing him today, saying; “the president should be cautious enough to know that the former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar led National Peace Committee tactically told him to tread cautiously and be mindful of the fact that he is not heading a military government.” The governor, who said he was not unaware of the sinister plot to destabilise his government because of his strong and truthful stands on national issues, vowed not to be cowed by threat from any quarter. According to a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said; “opposition is one of the roots on which democracy stands and any President or Governor that does not want opposition will eventually become a dictator. “I want to state without fear or favour that I will continue to speak the truth no matter whose ox is gored. “Nigeria belongs to all of us and no one can intimidate me or the good people of Ekiti State who freely and overwhelmingly gave me their mandate. “Democracy as a form of government thrives on our ability to ask questions and get answers from leaders,” he said. He urged the President to listen to wise counsel from the General Abdulsalami Abubakar led National Peace Committee saying; “the Peace Committee has reminded the president that he is not heading a military government and with the calibre of Nigerians in the Committee, their wise counsel should not be ignored. “These are Nigerians who don’t need personal favours from the President and he should get the message very clearly that he is being told not to act as a dictator.” Governor Fayose said the President should also know that Nigerians are not interested in any honeymoon, but their well-being. His words; “rather than concentrate and make a difference within his 100 days in office, the president’s greatest achievement so far is harassment of PDP leaders, appointment of his in- law and kinsmen into sensitive positions, selective fight against corruption and arrest and detention of INEC officials who worked in States won by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).” While declaring support for the fight against corruption, Governor Fayose however said; “fighting corruption should not be synonymous with convicting Nigerians on pages of newspapers. Rather, the judiciary and other relevant agencies should be allowed to do their jobs without any direct or indirect interference from the President and his party. “Corruption must be fought in accordance with the laws of the land because going against the laws of the land and the oath taken by the President to respect the constitution in itself is corruption.” dailypost.ng/2015/08/17/fayose-tells-buhari-i-cant-be-intimidated-by-anyone/ Cc: lalasticlala

Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan at the weekend stormed Kenya’s Maasai Mara Games Reserve in two chartered planes. One of the planes carried Kenya State security and the second was occupied by Jonathan, his wife Patience and two of their children. He is at the reserve for a three-day tour to witness the wildebeest migration. Jonathan was booked at the new Angama Mara Lodge at the Oloololo conservancy. The ex-president was received by Narok Governor Samuel Tunai. Tunai, who is also the Council of Governors tourism committee chairman, said more than 500,000 tourists from all over the world are expected to witness the spectacular crossing of wildebeest across the crocodile-infested Mara River. Jonathan, who refused to speak with reporters on his arrival to the reserve, according to Kenya media, is the second dignitary to visit the reserve in less than a fortnight after the King of Swasiland, Mswati III. The king was booked in the same lodge six days ago. The owner of the hotel, Nicky Fitzgerald, said this tourism peak season is different from the past as prominent personalities from across the world have been calling for bookings. “We have received Mr Jonathan, King Mswati III, a Chinese prominent family and we are expecting other royalties,” said Ms Fitzgerald. Ms Fitzgerald said United States (U.S.) President Barrack Obama’s visit last month was a boost for tourism in Kenya. The trooping in of world leaders to Kenya is expected to boost the tourism sector, which is recovering from travel advisories. Britain has withdrawn travel advisories against Kenya and America is expected to follow suit. “Starting of direct flights between Kenya and the U.S. as Obama promised would really promote trade and tourism,” said Ms Fitzgerald.
