The Traditional ruler of Oworonsoki, Oba Basiru Oloruntoyin Saliu has explained why the Bristow helicopter crashed yesterday.

He attributed the cause of the incident to the refusal of the government to pay attention to tradition, noting that the crash might have been caused by the lagoon goddess.

Speaking to Vanguard on phone, the monarch said as soon as the incident occurred, he deployed all his chiefs and princes to the scene to assist in the rescue operation.


“The government no longer pays attention to traditional rites which is necessary to prevent such occurrences. For instance, how many times have we appeased the goddess this year?

“An occurrence like this may be caused by the goddess because no human being can depict the depth of the lagoon; but if the goddess is appeased, she would have prevented such occurrence,” Oba Saliu said.

DAILY POST reports that a helicopter belonging to Bristow Helicopters with 12 people on board, yesterday, crashed into the Lagoon near the Oworonsoki end of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

Four bodies were recovered and six people rescued. Two are still missing.

A 30-year-old man identified as Emeji Christopher who allegedly sucked the private part of a 9-year-old boy was on Wednesday arraigned before a Lagos Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Yaba.

Emeji is standing trial on a one count charge of indecent treatment of a child.

Testifying in court, the prosecutor, Insp. Rita Momoh, said Emeji committed the offence in November 2014 at Jaja Hall toilet of the University of Lagos, Akoka.

Momoh told the court that Emeji lured the nine-year-old into one of the toilets in the hall where he sucked his genitals.

The prosecutor said, ”The police have been on the lookout for the accused following a report by his parents.

”The accused was only apprehended recently after he was seen roaming the university aimlessly.’’

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

When the charge was read, the accused pleaded not guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr P. A. Adeeyo, however granted Emeji bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Adeeyo consequently adjourned the case to October12 for substantive trial

It does no harm whatsoever and this is despite the efforts to prove otherwise by many fake religious zealots etc.

Explain calmly to him that porn is fantasy and not real and while casual sex is fun if done carefully (i.e. with protection) and mutual respect it is much better in a proper relationship.

I would be MUCH more concerned at the beating and mental abuse inflicted on the child.

I've said it before and I will still repeat it here. Parents these days are raising a lot of douche bag kids. I mean this present century kids virtually are exposed to violent video games like grand theft auto at 10yrs. By age 12 they've started watching violent porns. Porns that even I as an adult haven't had access to. Am scared of this new generation to be frank.
