AutosRe: The Port Congestion In Lagos! Are You Affected Too? by ziontrain: 6:02pm On Jan 28, 2009
My container was cleared 2 days ago. It took 2 weeks to get it out of the port. Normally, it takes about 3 - 5 days. So, I still feel blessed to get it out.
AutosRe: 2005 Honda Accord (price Reviewed N2.1m: 49000miles) by ziontrain: 5:11am On Jan 12, 2009
@Voyage, that price is even on the low side considering the value of Naira to Dollar now. A friend of mine sold 2003 Honda Accord for N2.2 million last week - mileage about 90k! If I was in Nigeria now, I will buy that car and re-sell it sharp, sharp! More vaseline to your elbow! This your car will soon be picked up by God's grace.
BusinessRe: Who Is Currently The Richest Man In Nigeria? by ziontrain: 4:32am On Dec 21, 2008
Here is what you all need to think about:

One of the richest men in America (I don't quite remember exactly who right now) once said that "If you know how much you're worth, you ain't that rich!"

AutosRe: Ajagx Met Jenju And Igwe1 Live In Abuja On Saturday On 6th Dec.08 by ziontrain: 9:58pm On Dec 11, 2008
@Busy_body, no problem my sister. We can start new year with new attitude.

I had ignored all these people for quite a while but had to intervene when it got to a stage where they want to start infringing on fundamental human rights of nairalanders. Imagine 3 people met in Abuja just to hang out and they said it's a nairaland summit. Don't people have the right to hang out again? Next, they said Igwe1 accepted bribe of candies and boxers shorts - how can you just malign people like that? It's uncalled for!

As if that was not enough, they said Igwe1 is endorsing Jenju as "THE ONE" - where were they all these days when inspired was being endorsed and crowned with titles left, right and center? What is wrong with endorsing anybody? This is freedom of expression. If other dealers are endorsed, no problem but if Jenju who supposedly is an imaginary threat to them is endorsed then hell must be let lose. We should not stand idly by and allow this type of nonsense.

I quietly posted cars to sell, Inspired started saying uncomplimentary things about them in his postings but I ignored him. I could easily have taken him on but just felt I can't start fighting children.

I have given you my word that I will ignore these guys and not jump on their thread and I have done that even up until now. I intend to continue with that policy.

I think your appeal should really go to Inspired and his boys who are trying to bring filth into this forum. Thank you for your concern and have a merry christmas and a wonderful new year.

By God's grace, next year should be peaceful if these other people are willing to make it so. The ball is in their court.
AutosRe: Ajagx Met Jenju And Igwe1 Live In Abuja On Saturday On 6th Dec.08 by ziontrain: 9:28pm On Dec 11, 2008
@Busy_body, please don't diminish yourself with those people you mentioned earlier in your posting - I think you don't belong in their midst. Aside from Sisi_Jinx, all those other people just don't measure up. Please give us intelligent and articulate people who can make meaningful contribution to the forum if you want to suggest sanitization officers.

As for bribes, those comments should not even be dignified with response.

AutosRe: Agenda 2009 For Nairaland Autos by ziontrain: 3:09pm On Dec 11, 2008
@Igwe, more vaseline to your elbow! I think this is a wonderful idea. I will send some thoughts across. Well done sir!
AutosRe: Ajagx Met Jenju And Igwe1 Live In Abuja On Saturday On 6th Dec.08 by ziontrain: 3:06pm On Dec 11, 2008
@Igwe1, please don't get into the mud with these people. They will rub some of their filth on you! Just leave them alone and maintain your silence. Trust me, that is the best answer for them regardless of the provocation. You have to rise above them and show them some maturity. When they don't see you to fight with, they will go back home and lick their wounds. God Bless.
AutosRe: Be An Informed Buyer by ziontrain: 5:53am On Dec 11, 2008
@Jesarmy, welcome to nairaland. Thanks for your contribution.

I believe that as the onus is on the buyer to check the vehicle out, it will also not be a bad idea if nairaland is known all over the country as a place to go and find honest car dealers. To this effect, you may also want to ask car dealers to let buyers know what they are buying upfront i.e. if the vehicle is accidented or salvaged car that has been refurbished, say so upront and possibly give a guarantee. This will be a win-win for everybody.

If you have been following this forum for a while you will realize that the VIN number requirement did not just happen by accident. Series of unfortunate events led to it and nairalanders felt it's high time we all protected buyers on the forum. Once again, welcome.
AutosRe: Ajagx Met Jenju And Igwe1 Live In Abuja On Saturday On 6th Dec.08 by ziontrain: 9:42pm On Dec 10, 2008
@Sisi_Jinx, I will reply you just because your posting is sensible. Let us be fair here, if you don't provide VIN number upfront, nairalanders will be suspicious of your vehicle, in that case it's a loss to the seller - at least we agree on that.

Now, I have followed @Igwe1's postings and he politely and gently reminds posters about the rules of VIN number particularly the new nairalanders - I don't think anyone can be more polite than he has been. And a lot of them have come back to apologize and say they were not aware they needed to provide this info. Effectively, there will always be new members that need to be informed about the procedure even though Seun's posting is still on top. Aside from this, I don't know what @Igwe1 has done wrong regarding reminding forumites of VIN number requirement.

I personally do not think @Igwe1 sets out to derail people's thread by reminding them of VIN number, particularly new members. He is just assisting in nudging us back in line when we try to stray away from laid down procedure. I don't see anything wrong with this unless there is some other ulterior motive with the seller. We did put this matter out to vote and most of the members voted for VIN number to be a requirement.

I am willing to engage in sensible and intelligent discussion on this as long as opinions are put forward in a reasonable manner as you have done.
AutosRe: Ajagx Met Jenju And Igwe1 Live In Abuja On Saturday On 6th Dec.08 by ziontrain: 8:50pm On Dec 10, 2008
@Igwe1, thank you! Silence is the best answer for a _ (nairalanders can fill in the blank)
AutosRe: Ajagx Met Jenju And Igwe1 Live In Abuja On Saturday On 6th Dec.08 by ziontrain: 8:45pm On Dec 10, 2008
@Igwe1, can I suggest to you to please ignore all these people pestering you and focus on your VIN number mandate. Their idea is to derail your efforts so they can continue support for unscrupulous business practices and avoid this VIN number issue. Trust me, that VIN number is a pain in the neck for them. They are seriously trying to find a way around it. Don't give them the opportunity and don't get into the gutter with them please!

No matter the provocation, don't be tempted to reply - just ignore them and continue with your good work.
AutosRe: Ajagx Met Jenju And Igwe1 Live In Abuja On Saturday On 6th Dec.08 by ziontrain: 2:15pm On Dec 10, 2008
@Igwe1, please continue your good work and ignore this @wwheelz. I don't know where he came from suddenly. My gut feeling tells me he just came back from Cayman Islands.

@wwheelz, in the interest of sanity of this forum and so that we don't get distracted again, I will choose to ignore you from now.
AutosRe: Ajagx Met Jenju And Igwe1 Live In Abuja On Saturday On 6th Dec.08 by ziontrain: 6:03am On Dec 10, 2008
@wwheelz, there is nothing I dislike more than engaging in unintelligent conversations. Please if you want to have constructive discussions with me, at least do your home work and take some time to think about what you want to say before you say it. I fail to see the substance of your allegations and insinuations.

Can you just tell me where in this thread did anyone mention that they are meeting in Abuja and taking decisions on behalf of Nairalanders. Where did anyone say they were directed or sanctioned to hold a meeting in Abuja by Nairalanders? What has sexist got to do with my posting and where do I know you from? You are new here with only 15 postings (unless you are another Romeobest) so what exactly are you talking about? I don't get it!

You said everyone cannot afford clean cars - fine but I have said it more than once on this forum that there is serious market for salvaged cars that have been well restored. The problem is that some dealers want to continue engaging in deceptive practices of days gone by where they present salvaged vehicles as clean vehicles beating their chest that no one can match their price. If you want to sell salvaged vehicles that have been restored on Nairaland, by all means do so but inform buyers that your vehicles are salvaged and have been restored and possibly give some guarantee. I have seen a few postings like that on this forum. Is there anything wrong with that?

You say you have issues with a few people having a meeting in Abuja and hailing another dealer like sychophant and coming to enthrone him as whatever. If I may ask, where have you been all these days that people have been enthroning other dealers with titles like:

Osina afo nne ya lebe motor 1 of Nairaland
Ataneru 1 of Urhobo Kingdom/Nairaland
Osina Nwata Buru Ogalanya 1 of Nairaland

The truth of the matter is that anyone can enthrone anyone with any title they so wish - it's basically fundamental human rights/freedom of expression and no one has been complaining until now that you are trying to make an issue out of it.

Instead of us (nairalanders) to come together and celebrate one another and encourage one another and lift one another up just see all the nonsense we are talking about. I will advice that you disipate your energy on something more productive than these trivial and unproductive issues.
AutosRe: Ajagx Met Jenju And Igwe1 Live In Abuja On Saturday On 6th Dec.08 by ziontrain: 11:30pm On Dec 09, 2008
Nairalanders, I wonder why some people are threatened by upright, clean and honest dealers. What is wrong in some nairalanders coming together to celebrate integrity and honesty of one of their members visiting from the US? Instead of joining the group of honest and trustworthy car dealers, some jealous and unscrupulous dealers are busy trying to trash other forumites!

Nairalanders are too intelligent for these childish and dumb antics. They can read between the lines and they know who to trust. This forum does not belong to a single individual but to all of us.  No more tolerance for odometer changers, salvaged vehicle dealers, cheats and dealers who avoid posting VIN numbers of their vehicles upfront in order to hide problems and faults that would be revealed by doing so. No one can come here to dominate and bully anybody again. Those days are long gone. Honesty and uprightness is now the order of the day. Get over it!
AutosRe: 2002 EXPLORER FOR SALE 4X4 AC CD PLAYER ALARM REMOTE LEATHER 1.45M by ziontrain: 4:43pm On Dec 04, 2008
@ADEOMOLE, thank you for finally responding positively to the request for VIN number.

Let me just quickly add that no one is out to bully anyone but if rules are set by nairalanders, I think it is only fair for a new member to honourably abide by them even if they conflict with his/her opinion. I accept that you are entitled to your opinion but majority of nairalanders believe otherwise. We did put this matter out on a vote sometime ago - maybe you were not a member then.

I personally have high regards for people who choose to tow the line of laid down procedure despite the fact that it goes against their opinion just as you have done. More vaseline to your elbow. I pray your vehicle sells quickly! God Bless.
AutosRe: 2002 EXPLORER FOR SALE 4X4 AC CD PLAYER ALARM REMOTE LEATHER 1.45M by ziontrain: 1:52pm On Dec 04, 2008
@ADEOMOLE, pardon me for replying to your posting rather late. For your information, VIN number cannot be compared to Social security number. There is nothing hidden about it as anyone walking past your vehicle on the street can see the VIN number. It is not supposed to be a secret. I live in the US and over here, it is ILLEGAL for a car dealer to advertise a car without disclosing the VIN number. It is a requirement by the government. The purpose of disclosing the VIN is to enable prospective buyers check out the history of the vehicle.

Like I mentioned earlier, we have been through this VIN issue on this forum in the past and the whole idea is to rid it of unscrupulous car dealers trying to cheat and outsmart innocent buyers by avoiding disclosure of VIN number upfront using one excuse or the other.

I believe if you have nothing to hide, revealing the VIN number will go a long way in assisting you sell your vehicle quickly. I have come to realise that Nairalanders value honesty and integrity so much. This should not be a great surprise to anyone. I sincerely hope you understand and will encourage you to please provide the VIN number of your vehicle and help in this process of sanitizing Nairaland. God Bless you.

@beholddean, thanks for your comments. Your argument has been presented in the past and nairalanders know that making disclosure optional is an answer to the prayers of crooks and unscrupulous car dealers. I will suggest you read some of the past postings on the forum and see all the nonsense that some car dealers have done in the past - it will shock you! Let's just continue this process of sanitizing the forum by making upfront disclosure of VIN number compulsory.
AutosRe: PRICE REVIEW **nissan Xterra 2008 (special Edition) And Hyundai Veracruz 2007 ** by ziontrain: 10:44pm On Dec 03, 2008
@Larryshow4, just to add my 2 cents as a fellow car dealer here. I will suggest you heed the advice of @Promise72. If I were you, I will send someone out to town or go out myself and find out how much those cars are being sold for in Lagos or wherever you are located. I am sure they are available. Then I would price mine below market price for quick sale. Trust me, you can't go wrong with that strategy.

AutosRe: **BMW X3 3.0 Automatic Executive** For Sale! by ziontrain: 11:05pm On Dec 01, 2008
@Martins00, there is database maintained for German cars and those from the UK as far as I know. I believe someone once posted the websites on this forum. The information about vehicles are available to the public via the VIN number. It will be helpful if you please provide the VIN number for the benefit of credibility of all of us. Cheers.
AutosRe: 2002 EXPLORER FOR SALE 4X4 AC CD PLAYER ALARM REMOTE LEATHER 1.45M by ziontrain: 10:56pm On Dec 01, 2008
@ADEOMOLE, with due respect, I see that you are relatively new to this forum. For your information, this issue of VIN number has some history here. What nairalanders are trying to do is to sanitize the forum and rid it of unscrupulous car dealers. What @Igwe1 is doing is basically "peer review" on behalf of all of us.

It will be helpful if we all heed the advice to provide VIN numbers of vehicles being advertised for sale as suggested by the owner of Nairaland - Seun.

I hope you do understand and will not take this personal. This "self-cleansing mechanism" via provision of VIN number is for the benefit of all of us and will help in restoring much needed credibility to this forum.
