Fan jailed for hugging Cristiano Ronaldo
The 19-year-old supporter insists he would do
the same thing again, despite being

idol during a recent friendly
14 Aug 2013 08:35:00
The fan who was jailed for
invading the pitch during the
International Champions
Cup match between Real
Madrid and Chelsea to hug
Cristiano Ronaldo last week
has stressed that he has no
regrets over his actions.
Ronald Gjoka, 19, ran onto
the pitch in the 67th minute to embrace his idol,
only to be arrested by local police and taken to jail
for trespassing and disorderly conduct.
Gjoka spent the night in prison before he was
allowed to leave the day after, yet he has stressed
that the moment was worth the punishment.
"Honestly, first thing was look straight, find Cristiano
and don't look back. Just go," Gjoka told Local10.
"I decided to add a little knee slide on it just for a
little celebration. I think Ronaldo always does that
celebration so I thought that he would find it funny,
and he did, he gave it a little laugh.
"But after that, I gave him a big hug, told him you're
one of my biggest idols, always followed you and I
said, 'Please, Ronaldo, don't let the cops take me,'
and that's when Ronaldo gave me a very big hug.

"I got the opportunity to talk to Ronaldo. It was a
unique opportunity and I had to take it. It was
worth the detention."
The Portugal international netted twice to help
Madrid to a 3-1 win over Chelsea in last week's
encounter.
PoliticsMeet A Mother Of Two With 22 Different Personality by zizman(op): 11:18am On Aug 13, 2013
When Dawn Taylor walks down the street
hand in hand with her two young sons, she
looks like any other devoted mum. But Dawn,
31, is not like other mothers. She has multiple
personalities - an astonishing 22 of them.
Each personality has its own voice, traits and
mannerisms. They can come and go up to 10 times
a day, changing without warning in a split second.
They include brothel keeper Madam Taylor, five-
year-old schoolgirl Daisy, PC World worker Mary,
60, and aggressive teenager Lashes. There are also
a millionaire, Scottish sandwich shop owner,
Cornish farm girl, German speaker and a gangsta
rapper.
"I feel like I spend half my life drunk," says Dawn,
who cannot recall what happens when another
personality takes over.
"At the time I think I am in control. To me, I am
just me, whether that's Daisy, Mary or even
Madam Taylor. But when I wake up and can't
remember a thing the terror sets in."
Dawn, who lives with long-term partner Dean, 36,
and their children Connor, 10, and seven-year-old
Troy, was diagnosed with Dissociative Identity
Disorder (DID) - also known as Multiple Personality
Disorder - in June.
It followed years of erratic behaviour, which
started with depression after Connor's birth.
Dawn, of Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, says: "It's like the
other personalities are trying to get me into
trouble. Some of them hate Dean and make me
say spiteful things to him, even though I love him
dearly.
"I found text messages to a friend in my sent-box,
telling her I was outside her house and that I was
going to hurt her. I had to call and apologise and
tell her it was someone else. I felt awful.
"Other personalities even hate the real me. Once I
woke up to find a swear word cut on my thigh.
"The scissors were in my hand and there was
blood everywhere. I couldn't remember doing it.
"The only saving grace is that they all love my
children. But that doesn't stop me worrying about
what one of them might do."
Anguished Dawn says: "I just want to be a normal
mum."
The former model, who cannot work because of
her condition, adds: "Sometimes, simple things I
do as Dawn are a major problem for the other
personalities.
{read_more}
"I used to cycle everywhere but once I was riding
through town with Troy in a seat on the back.
Connor was riding in front when suddenly I
switched into little Daisy, who can't cycle. I lost all
ability to ride, smashed into Connor and we all fell
off. A few weeks ago I came round and was
hanging upside down from a tree in the back
garden.
"It sounds funny but it was terrifying. One of my
child personalities must have climbed up there but
when I snapped out of it I couldn't get down."
Dawn - who takes sedatives, mood stabilisers and
anti-depressants to control her condition - is used
to people laughing at her and tries to be
philosophical about it.
She says: "One of the teenage girl personalities
does cheer-leading. I have woken up in the town
centre surrounded by people clapping after I have
done a routine. My sons think it's funny so I try to
laugh along but for me it's really embarrassing.
"The boys can take advantage, too. I have one
personality they call Rich Lady, who seems to think
she has a huge fortune.
"When she comes out they make me buy them
expensive toys and sweets. When I snap back I
realise what they've done.
"I woke up once in the living room surrounded by
boxes of Lego, computer games and consoles they
had made her buy."
But life wasn't always like this. Dean, who met
Dawn when she was 18, recalls: "She was a
beautiful model, full of fun and confidence. We
were so in love.
"Then after Connor was born, we were driving
down the road one day when she wound down the
window and started shouting abuse at someone
walking by.
"It was out of character and I asked what she was
doing. She looked at me like I was mad. She
couldn't remember a thing."
{read_more}
Doctors at first suspected Tourette's syndrome,
but the fact that Dawn couldn't remember her
outbursts suggested something more serious.
Her erratic behaviour began to take on a pattern.
Dean says: "The first personality to emerge was
Lashes. One day after an outburst, I called her
Dawn and she told me that wasn't her name.
"Gradually, Lashes came out as a very angry
teenage girl who didn't like me. I would get texts
telling me I was useless.
"She told me she hated me and warned me not to
come home from work.
"More personalities started to appear. Sometimes
Mary arrives. She works in PC World and wakes up
at 5am and tells me she has to go do a stock-take. I
try to convince her she doesn't work there.
"When I ask how she is going to get to the shop,
she doesn't know where it is, becomes very
confused and comes back to bed.
"Other times she is Daisy, who sits on the floor and
draws for hours. There are other children and
when Dawn is one of them, her handwriting is like
a child's.
"Another of the personalities speaks German -
which Dawn only learnt briefly at school.
"Then there is Madam Taylor, who owns a brothel.
I tried to explain to Madam Taylor that she is
actually Dawn.
"Now I ignore her because the doctors think the
more you interact with the other personalities, the
stronger they get. Some are far stronger than
others and emerge much more regularly.
"It was scary at first but gradually the personalities
have become part of my life. It's like living with 22
different people. Some smoke and even like cigars
even though Dawn has never smoked."
The illness has taken its toll on the couple's love
life.
Dean says: "My mates joke that it must be
amazing, getting to go to bed with 22 different
women.
"But what about when I go to bed with a brothel
madam, then part way through she switches to a
five-year-old child? I'm lost. I love Dawn but what
we have isn't a relationship any more, it's a way of
life - survival.
"I could never leave her or my boys but this illness
has taken away the woman I fell in love with.
People ask if I hope to get her back. Of course I do.
I have to, otherwise I would go mad."
Dawn has just one session with a consultant
psychiatrist every three months.
The drugs ease the problem but she has been told
there is no proven cure.
Analytical psychotherapist who has treated people
with Dawn's condition for 25 years, said: "Less
than one per cent of the population suffers from
DID but many are misdiagnosed with depression
or other conditions."
Mr Aquarone, former president of the European
Society for Trauma and Dissociation, said: "The
most separate personalities I have seen in one
person is 12, so Dawn's case is extreme.
"She is in desperate need of regular and sustained
psychotherapy at least once a week. It is very
difficult to get this kind of help on the NHS."
Dawn's alter egos
THE REAL DAWN: A lovely 31-year old who is a
loving mother to Troy and Connor.
LASHES: This troubled teenager has a volatile
temper and swears a lot. She sends Dean scary
texts trying to break off their relationship.
TIGER-LILY and TIGER-LOU: Related girls a
similar age to Dawn and closest to her own
personality. Dawn's family are often the only ones
who can tell when she is in one of these
characters.
DAISY: A five-year-old girl who loves colouring and
spends hours using Troy and Connor's crayons.
She is Troy's favourite personality because she
likes to play with the boys.
PHOENIX: This six-year-old is obsessed with
building Lego and SpongeBob SquarePants - even
though it's a family joke that Dawn can't stand
either.
MARY: A 60-year-old shop assistant who was
made redundant from her job at office suppliers
Staples and now works at PC World. She was
devastated when she read in the local paper that
the local branch was closing down.
FARM GIRL: Young agricultural worker who claims
she has a combine harvester and talks to the
children about farm animals.
MADAM TAYLOR: An older woman who keeps a
brothel. She drove past a derelict building and said
it would be the perfect place for her "girls" to do
their trade.
LADY DAWNY: Millionaire who spends
uncontrollably and showers her family with gifts.
She once spent the whole weekly budget on Lego
and games consoles for the boys.
SAPPHIRE: She is a pyromaniac who has an
obsession with red cigarette lighters. Once she
even set fire to real money in the wood burner in
the back garden.
CHAV: A girl who calls everyone "Chaz" - including
her children, partner and friends - and has a
strong London accent.
STORE BOSS: Scottish sandwich shop owner who
wakes Dean in the middle of the night to make
deliveries and pick up ingredients.
GERMAN: A woman who switches to speaking her
native language in mid-conversation and gets
frustrated when her family can't understand her.
YOUNGSTERS: These include a gangsta rapper
who talks in ghetto rhymes and four children too
shy to give their names. One likes to jump in the
paddling pool fully clothed. And there are three
teens who self-harm and send threatening texts to
Dawn's friends.
PoliticsRe: single parent Barber of a 2yrs old kid killed by drunk Mopol by zizman(op): 4:46am On Aug 10, 2013
.....
Politicssingle parent Barber of a 2yrs old kid killed by drunk Mopol by zizman(op):
*Deceased’s last words: Please don’t abandon my
daughter…
Never in his wildest imagination had Bright , a
barber in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area
of Lagos State, envisaged he was going to be
added to the endless list of hapless Nigerians sent
to unprepared graves by trigger- happy
policemen.
The barber whose saloon also served as his
home, is a single father whose dream had been
centred on training her two- and- half years old
daughter, to the best school within his reach. But
he never lived to fulfil his dream.
Bright, as gathered, had opened his saloon cum
home penultimate Tuesday. As usual, he
reportedly bathed his baby identified as Ebun,
prepared her food and kept her under his watch
when customers came in to have their hair cut.
But, the unexpected happened at about 10.30pm.
According to eye witnesses, a mobile policeman
attached to a company, poles away from Janet
Fagbemi street, location of Bright’s shop, stormed
the shop and ordered Bright to come out.
https://dvsl3w2q45hb8.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Bright-barber.jpg
The deceased, Bright
Eye witnesses told Crime Guard that Bright, who
was then attending to a customer, left him and
came out, oblivious of the purpose of the
policeman’s mission. “As he stepped out of the
shop, the Mopol shot him at close range . He
continued shooting sporadically in the process of
which four other persons including a pregnant
woman were hit by stray bullets. From all
indications, it was obvious he was drunk.
“It all started after the policeman who was on a
short and T-shirt abandoned his duty post and
accosted some men in a vehicle on the adjourning
street. He told the men in the car to come down
for a search. But they hesitated, requesting he
identified himself before they would obey.
“Perhaps, their response infuriated him as he
slapped one of them twice. While they were still
trying to fathom what their offence was, he
slapped the second man.
“Amidst frayed nerves, the men demanded to
ascertain the identity of the man who assaulted
them. At that point, the Mopol rushed to his duty
post and came back with his gun, saying he would
show them that he was just posted from Jos,
Plateau, where people are killed anyhow. At that
point everyone took to his heels before he went
to Bright’s shop.”
How bullet hit pregnant woman
“A pregnant woman known as Ebere was in her
house when she heard the gun shots. Suspecting
robbers were operating, she rushed out to lock
her gate , only for a stray bullet to hit her on the
hand. Another victim, Nonso, was hit in the eye
while the third, Tayo, was hit in the thigh”.
Bright’s last word
Crime Guard gathered that while everyone fled,
Bright was left in the pool of his blood. On
realising the magnitude of his deed, the Mobile
policeman, later identified as Corporal
Mohammed Abubakar, attached to Mopol 17,
Ondo State, took to his heels.”
Even in the face of death Bright was said to have
kept calling his daughter Ebun, pleading to
sympathizers to rush inside his shop to ensure
she was safe. When it was obvious he could not
make it, he reportedly touched one of the
sympathiser and said, “ please help me take care
of my daughter until any of my relatives comes
for her. He was said to have repeated the word
twice. When he was making attempt to repeat it
the third time to a neighbour he recognized in the
midst of the crowd, he gave up the ghost.
“ He held my hand and appealed passionately
saying, ‘please don’t abandon Ebun, no matter…’
before he breathed his last,”the neighbour
disclosed.
https://dvsl3w2q45hb8.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Ebun-bright.jpg
Ebun, deceased’s
daughter
Where are the deceased’s relatives?
As at Thursday, Crime Guard was informed that
no one had come to be identified as the deceased
relative.
A resident of the area revealed that “ Ebun was
only six months old when her mother abandoned
her. Nobody knows her mother’s name nor where
she is from. We only know the deceased as Bright.
We do not know his surname. He told us he was
from Benue State. He did everything within his
might to make Ebun happy since the mother left.
He called her his little princess and carried her
wherever he went.
When Crime Guard visited Ebun’s new home
around the vicinity , she was seen carrying on with
life unaware of her father’s whereabouts. But
once in a while, her new parents said, “she would
start calling out to her daddy . At that point,
nobody can console her because she would be
crying and at the same time, going about the
whole place like one looking for what was lost.
She has emaciated over night, even though we try
to persuade her to eat what we all eat.”
As you read this piece, the remains of Bright, the
single father who was determined to move on
with life irrespective of its unpalatable
experiences, lies at the Lagos State University
Teaching Hospital ,LUTH, Idi-Arara, morgue.
Police on the trail of killer cop
As at Thursday, nothing had been heard about
the killer- cop who took off from the scene. Police
authorities, as gathared, were worried about the
weapon in his possession. In a bid to ensure his
arrest, the Lagos State Police Command had
launched a manhunt for him.
The State Police boss, Umar Manko, was quoted
as saying that if the fleeing cop did not show up
within 21 days, he would be declared a ‘Deserter’
and would no longer be seen as a Policeman but
a ‘rebel’.
Police authorities have also called on members of
the public to help avail them with information
that could lead to the apprehension of the fleeing
killer cop ,with a view to ensuring that justice was
done.

extreme by an ex-rapper boyfriend and even
pulled up her shirt to show a scar she got
from one of his numerous beatings...to prove
she wasn't lying about the abuse.
She said one time while he was beating
her she ran into the bathroom to escape

PoliticsPolice Sergeant Caught Demandingbribe From Motorist Dismissed by zizman(op): 5:06pm On Aug 08, 2013
The Police Sergeant, Chris Omeleze who was
caught on video demanding N25,000 bribe
from a motorists on Tuesday has been
dismissed.
The orderly room trial on a Police Sergeant, Chris
Omeleze, attached to the Lagos State Motor Traffic
Division,MTD was concluded Wednesday.
It was gathered that the Sergeant with Force
number 192954 had been dismissed from the
Nigeria Police Force, as he was reportedly found
guilty at the end of the trial.
It was learnt that a panel of policemen found the
sergeant guilty of misconduct and recommended
him for dismissal which the CP approved.
The sergeant, who was close to tears, however said
his ordeal was the handiwork of the devil.
The Sergeant was reported to have arrested a
motorist who was returning from the airport, for
contravening traffic rules. He was said to have
entered the vehicle, threatening to take the
motorist who was with a female passenger to the
station.
All entreaties by the motorists and the passenger
who were said to be on their way to Ajah fell on
deaf ears as the Sergeant insisted on N25,000.
Later that day, the video clip went viral on social
media, prompting the Inspector-General of Police
to direct the Lagos State Police Command to fish
out the policeman and carry out an orderly room
trial on him.
The video clip as gathered, was used during the
trial where the Sergeant was said to have been
dumb founded and appealed to be given a second
chance.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide,
said the police was disappointed with the
sergeant's unprofessional behaviour.
Braide said members of the public should make
the habit of reporting such cases of extortion to
the police backed with evidence as this would help
police authorities to fish out bad eggs from the
force.
She said, "The video was well detailed and we were
able to locate the sergeant. The video was enough
evidence and after facing an orderly room trial, he
was dismissed.
"The police will not condone such behaviour and
members of the public are advised to always
report such cases."

PoliticsHow Father Beheads 5-yr-old Sonfor N1m In Adamawa by zizman(op): 7:02am On Aug 07, 2013
Detectives attached to the homicide unit of the Adamawa State police command have commenced investigations to unravel the circumstancethat led a 24-year-old man to behead his five-year-old son.
The dastardly act occurred last Wednesday in Ganji suburb of Gombi Local Government of Adamawa State, when Baffa Alti, 24, a cattle rearer, lured his biological son, Buba, to the farm and beheaded him.
The father of the beheaded child, Baffa Alti (left) and Alhaji Sange Hassan, the accomplice.
Adamawa State police command where the suspect alongside his accomplice wereparaded gave a vivid account of how the suspects were arrested.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ibrahim Mohammed, a DSP, told newsmen that the father of the prime suspect, Alhaji Guza, had earlier reported to the police in Gombi that his grandson was missing.
Guza also told the police that the boy went to the farm with his father, only for the father to return home without him.
According to the police, when Alhaji Guza accosted his son, asking for the whereabouts of his grandson, he told his father that he left him behind in the farm and that he would return later.
Days rolled by and the boy did not return from the farm which made Guza to lodge a complaint at the Gombi divisional police station where a search party was commissioned.
The search led to the discovery of the beheaded decomposing body of Buba under a tree in the farm covered with leaves.
The suspect was later arrested and on interrogation, he said one Alhaji Sange Hassan, 63, told him to bring a human head for N1 million.
Baffa Datti confessed to committing the act, saying he intended using the money to raise the status of his father, mother and his family.
Alhaji Sange Hassan who is now cooling his heels in the cell of the state CID with Baffa Alti however, denied ever telling himto bring a human head.
The suspects, according to the police, will soon be charged to court after investigation.

HealthMeet The Man Who Has Lived In Thehospital For 45 Years by zizman(op): 9:25pm On Aug 06, 2013
Paulo Henrique Machado has lived almost his
entire life in hospital. As a baby he suffered
infantile paralysis brought on by polio, and
he is still hooked up to an artificial respirator
24 hours a day.
But despite this, he has trained as a computer
animator and is now creating a television series
about his life.
The Brazilian's first memories are of exploring the
hospital he has lived in for 45 years by wheelchair.
"I explored up and down the corridors, going into
the rooms of other children that were here - that is
how I discovered my 'universe'," he says.
"For me, playing football or with normal toys
wasn't an option, so it was more about using my
imagination."
Machado's mother died when he was two days old,
and as a baby he contracted polio - the result of
one of the last big outbreaks of the disease in
Brazil.
https://img.naij.com/n/features/0d/d/_69045767_paciente_fixo_highres.jpg

Ligia Marcia Fizeto, Machado's nursing assistant,
began working in the hospital - Sao Paulo's Clinicas
- shortly after he arrived.
"It was very sad to see all those children, all lying
there immobilised in their beds, or with very little
movement," she says.
In the 1970s, children with polio were encased in a
"torpedo" - a body-encasing iron lung - and doctors
at the hospital gave grim assessments of the
children's prospects. Few in the "polio ward" were
expected to reach adolescence - their life
expectancy was just 10 years.
With very limited mobility, Machado's world
formed around the friends he made on the ward.
"There was me, Eliana, Pedrinho, Anderson,
Claudia, Luciana and Tania. They were here for a
good length of time too, more than 10 years," he
says.

With the innocence of childhood, he never
imagined that they would be parted. But by 1992,
some of the children had begun to deteriorate -
one by one, his friends began to die.
"It was difficult," says Machado. "Each loss was like
a dismembering, you know, physical… like a
mutilation," he says. "Now, there's just two of us
left - me and Eliana."
PoliticsBoy Discovers Ancient Egyptian Mummy Atgrandma's House by zizman(op): 10:24am On Aug 06, 2013
A 10-year old boy has found what
appears to be an ancient Egyptian mummy while
playing at the attic of his grandmother's house in
Lower Saxony State, Germany.
The mummy was lying in a sarcophagus, which was
covered by hieroglyphic inscriptions. Besides the
mummy the crate reportedly contained an object
believed to be a "death mask," as well as an
acanopic jar used by ancient Egyptians to preserve
the entrails of the dead.
Kettler's father was quoted as saying he would
have experts examine the mummy in order to
authenticate it.
Asked about the steps to be taken by Egypt if the
mummy appears to be authentic, Mohamed Abdel
Maqsoud, deputy director of the Antiquities Sector
at Egypt's Ministry of Antiquities, said that the
ministry will first check whether the piece travelled
outside the country legally, and will verify whether
it is registered at any museum.
Abdel Maqsoud added that authorities will also
verify what links the German family has to Egypt
and find out whether they work in the field of
archaeology.
https://img.naij.com/n/world/06/10/mummy.jpg

The ministry official added that diplomacy will be
the first option to bring home the mummy if it
proves to be an ancient Egyptian artifact, stressing
that diplomatic means have proven successful in
restoring several artifacts over the past few years.
"Diplomacy is a successful way to resolve these
sorts of issues, and it is not costly," Abdel Maqsoud
said. "We should first check if the piece left the
country legally and find out if it is registered at any
museum."
Should diplomacy fail, approaching Interpol would
be the next step, he stated.
PoliticsDrama As 21-yr-old Accused Asks Magistratefor Food by zizman(op): 9:49am On Aug 06, 2013
The magistrate’s court sitting in Yaba,
Lagos, yesterday, witnessed a mild drama
following an outburst by one of the arraigned
suspects.
The incident occurred during the hearing of a two-
count felony charge brought against the suspect,
Tunde Balogun (21), who instead of pleading to
the charges, brought out some drugs from his
pocket as he cried to the magistrate: “Please Ma, I
have been on these drugs since Saturday. I am
not feeling okay. I have not had anything to eat
since morning. Please Ma, if you can help me, just
give me something so that I can swallow these
drugs.”
This prompted the magistrate to halt the session
for some minutes to ascertain the health
condition of the accused from the Prosecuting
Officer who brought him to court. It was then
revealed that it was a strategy to distract the
court session.
After the second charge was read, the accused
remained silent for a while, after which he told
the magistrate: “I heard what you said, but I don’t
know anything about the charges you just read to
me. I am not guilty of the charges. I am not
feeling very fine, please I need to take these
medications I bought from the chemist since
Saturday.”
It was further revealed by some witnesses at the
hearing that a previous case of felony and assault
committed against a young lady in February 2013,
was struck out in court last Friday, but instead of
turning a new leaf, the accused who is a son of a
retired court official, committed another felony
the next day.
According to a witness,“he is unrepentant and this
has caused his father, who is a retired court
registrar, so much pain.”
When asked reasons for misbehaving during the
hearing, the accused told our reporter: “Truly, I
am innocent of the charge against me. That
evening, I went with one of my friends to
purchase some drugs at a chemist, and suddenly
we heard people shouting and running after
some young men.
“In confusion, we joined them, but before I knew
what was happening, they mobbed me. They
broke a bottle on my head in the process. Look at
the wound,” he said, showing off a wounded back
of his head.

However, the 42 year old randy pastor has been

The Magistrate was said to have ordered his

He faces a 14-year jail term, if found guilty by the
court.

his neighbour's daughter met him where he was
buying a local snack, 'Awara' for his little children
and she asked him to buy for her too but he only
had N20 on him at the time so he promised to buy
it for her at another time.
The alleged rapist said on the day of the incident,
he had just finished his night prayers and went out

and he promised to reward her financially.
He said he made sure Zainab entered his private
room to get the money after which "I brought out
N100 and gave her thinking it was N50 I gave
because we were in the dark and instead of her to
just go, she stayed back.
"Having seen that she was still there, I brought her
into my arms and intended to have canal
knowledge of her but she had her pants on. I lost
my erection in the process and Zainab even helped
to caress my penis to make it erect for possible
penetration but I couldn't penetrate her so I
ejaculated on her body."
He also said shortly after she left, her mother
came to him and asked whether he was the person
that gave her daughter N100 and he agreed with a
promise that it will never happen again.
The driver said he was ignorant of the
consequences of his action, even as he said the
bank manager disowned him at the police station,
saying he must pay the price for his offence.
Meanwhile, Zainab's uncle, Alhaji Magaji Yahaya,
told newsmen that Zainab's mother confronted
him with the sad news that their neighbour had
raped little Zainab, saying she confirmed to him
that blood was coming out of her vagina when
they first saw her coming out of Malam Yusif's
house.
He mentioned that on that night they rushed
Zainab and the culprit to Murtala Muhammad
Specialist Hospital for medical attention and
confirmation of what really happened to their
daughter, even as he confirmed that Malam Yusif
was a serial rapist as they gathered that he raped
the daughters of Malam Musa, Malam Dan
Hussaini, Malam Haladu Gemu and Hajiya
Hansatu.

CrimeNurse Sets 11-year-old Girl Ablaze In Lagos For stealing meat by zizman(op):
Doctors at the General Hospital, Gbagada, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, are seriously battling to save the life of an 11-year old girl, Ita Bassey-Eno, who was allegedly set ablaze by the woman she lives with, Mrs Nkese Iroakazi, a nurse at a hospital in Surulere.

_ita-bassey-eno-in-critical-condition-448x336

Ita Bassey-Eno in critical condition

Iroakazi was alleged to have poured kerosene on Bassey-Eno before lighting a match stick to set her ablaze after the girl was said to have stolen a piece of meat from the pot.

Witnesses said the girl ran out of their apartment at 7, Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Surulere, unto to the main road with fire all over her body as she cried for help from passers-by to rescue her.

It was gathered that someone quickly stopped his vehicle and used his fire extinguisher to put out the flame on her body.

The incident, which occurred last Saturday, was immediately reported at the Bode Thomas Police Station and the police from the station arrested Mrs. Nkese.

The little girl was rushed to the Burns and Trauma Centre, an annex of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital at the General Hospital, Gbagada, for urgent attention as the doctors in the hospital said she had suffered 95 percent burns and would take a miracle for her to survive.

Bassey-Eno’s private part was damaged, while almost all her body is burnt. The whole of her body, except her face and her feet, are bandaged, while she wears pampers because her private part was damaged.

On her hospital bed on Monday the little was groaning in pains while health officials described Nkese as callous woman and that she must be made to face the music.

Executive Director, Esther Child Rights Foundation, ECRF, Mrs. Esther Ogwu, who was at the hospital to see the girl, wept when she saw her pathetic state, saying that in all her life as human rights activist, she had never come across such a gruesome case as that of the little girl. According to Ogwu, the situation is terrible.

The doctor said the girl suffered 95 percent burns and that her private part has been damaged. This woman is more than wicked. Justice must take its course.

“One of the health officials at the General Hospital, Gbagada called me and said a woman poured kerosene on the little girl staying with her and lit up a match stick and set her ablaze.

The girl ran out of the house to the main road where a Good Samaritan used her car fire extinguisher to put out the fire.”

Little Bassey-Eno, who hails from Akwa Ibom State, southsouth Nigeria, was brought from the village with another girl, Happiness Okon-Bassey, 13, to live with Nkese in June 2013 on the premose that she would send them to school, but that was not to be as the two girls allegedly performed the function of domestic servants for Nkese.

The second house girl, Okon-Bassey, said she did not see when her colleague was set ablaze but that she heard her screaming when their mistress was beating her shortly before the she saw flame all over her body when she ran outside their home.

More

She alleged that they were maltreated and beaten thoroughly very often and that they had no time to rest as they work almost throughout the day for their mistress without going to school, saying that they normally eat twice daily.

Daughter of the alleged culprit, Ijeoma Akiti, 27, said she was not at home when the incident occurred and that she could not tell whether her mother poured kerosene on the little girl’s body and set her ablaze, but that she heard such story at the police station.

She said her mother was first married to her father and later remarried into the family of Iroakazi and that her mother’s husband had gone on a business trip to the eastern part of Nigeria.

At the Bode Thomas Police Station, police sources alleged that the little girl confessed that her mistress poured kerosene on her.

The police at the station said the woman would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti for further investigation into the matter, but Ogwu alleged that the police were trying to shield the woman from prosecution.

In her statement at the police station, Iroakazi denied that she poured kerosene on the little girl’s body and set her ablaze.

According to her, she was in the sitting room when she heard a loud cry and rushed out only to see the girl on fire and called on people to help put out the fire.

Officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, WAPA, were at the hospital and the police station where they spoke with the woman, but she denied the story.

WAPA officials took Okon-Bassey, the second girl with them for rehabilitation pending when she would be reconciled with her real mother.

CelebritiesNigerian Celebrities Now Poor Due To Bad Investments by zizman(op): 8:34pm On Jul 28, 2013
With the way guys are spending money today, Ọmọ Oódua is of the opinion that if anyone come asking for help from Nigerians tomorrow through the media we should ask that person questions. The extravagant lifestyle of Naija celebrities who squander their wealth on luxury and later become bankrupt is what is giving industry watchers great concern. Why do some Nigeria-known faces in the entertainment industry usually beg for fund after a successful career?

Anthony Ada Abraham and Samuel Abulude take a look at this sad development. A typical Nigeria celebrity is seen as a wealthy personality. Going on tour around the world, shooting videos and making people know they are a force to be reckoned with, buying and big cars, etc. Most shows they perform in is outside the country and it aids them with lots of money for stage appearance, multinational endorsement and more fan base. But of late, the tide has continued to turn inasmuch as
majority seek fund from the public before they could even eat. The question entertainment enthusiasts are asking is, what have they been doing with the millions they earn?

The ordeal of African Queen Music producer, OJB Jezreel with kidney failure has revealed the lifestyle of our music celebrities. He struggled to get the required funds for his kidney transplant and had to resort to
begging Nigerians to save his life and donate money for his operation. This development casts a notion of wasteful spending on our celebrities who made money when the going was good.

A lot of our contemporary artistes and music producers have smiled to the bank unlike the veteran singers of yesteryears who laboured more producing quality music and yet did not make as much as the contemporary artistes. Catching on the global hip hop trend, many of our artistes have hit it off and smiled to the banks. The Nigerian musician has laboured and tried to make himself to be reckoned with.

Today, while many have attained celebrity status via the industry and become brand ambassadors of different products and organisations, others have gradually faded
out as if they never existed.

Flashback:
As an upcoming artiste or actor a lifestyle is created to help in championing a career, a lot is provided by a label for instance in the music industry like house, car and some cash for the particular period as agreed by the
contract. But when the 'dough' starts coming in, the exotic lifestyle creeps in. Some spend about hundreds of millions to get a house while others spend same and
above to get 'lambogini' just to pose with it because of what they watch on MTV or Channel O. Often, this is far from their initial plan of making it big and establishing themselves as an entrepreneur in the business. And it has continue to hinder a lot of people in the entertainment industry from achieving a lot like their European counterpart.

Though people like D'banj, Don Jazzy, 2face, Omotola, the popular actors Aki and Pawpaw, Genevieve, Jim Iyke and some few others have invested in different businesses aside the usual profession, many are busy
buying commodities that do not last for the future only to cry for help when they are broke.

The strugglers:
At that time, his wife was also reported to have left him because he could no longer meet the needs of his family. Also, at an early age, Shina Peters was one of the richest musicians in Nigeria with his platinum hit Afro juju. He was a force to be reckoned with but some of his fans said it was mismanagement of funds that led to his not being famous.

Nigerian father of Juju music, King Sunny Ade and the northern veteran, Dan Maraya also advised young entertainers to invest their money on things that would benefit them and their family, instead of living a lavish lifestyle and later coming to seek help. Nico Gravity said in his song 'Finish Timaya' that he had no beef with him. In an interview with Leadership, he said he just tried to advise him and other artistes to invest their
money on things that would benefit them in the future instead of making noise of buying cars and travelling round the world only to start begging in the long run. He also said he would be glad if they collaborate in any song.

An insider said that the late Pa Rolling Dollar was totally broke and could not afford the basic necessities of life, though he was popular. But succour came his way from the Lagos state governor.

Majek Fashek:
How are the mighty fallen! This exclamation best captures the current state of New York-based Majek Fashek who waltzed his way into the hearts of music fans in the early '90s with his critically acclaimed album, Prisoner of Conscience. All is definitely not well with the reggae icon who released a video entitled Jah Revelation. Looking from his kind of music and patronage, he is supposed to be one of the most stable artistes, but Majek has been dogged by bad publicity. After many years of turbulent sojourns, it is hoped that the rainmaker would pray the rain is sent down.

Blackface
When stories of famous entertainers who have suffered a reversal of fortunes are chronicled, the name Augustine Ahmed better known as Blackface would definitely echo and reecho. Ejected from home by landlord, deserted by wife and abandoned by friends; such is the story of Blackface, who was once a trailblazer when the raga movement took off in Nigeria. Together with his friends, Tuface and Faze, they took the music scene by storm. While Tuface, after their inglorious disbandment continues on his astronomical rise and Faze rides on the
crest of his modest fame, Blackface has remained unable to find his footings. That is after a big hit with his albums. Will he bounce back or continue to wallow in penury?

Soul E
"In the life of everyman, there must be some ups and downs, it's just a normal thing that happens and I must tell you that I have learnt from them and all I can ask from God is that everything falls in place this time around. Most of the things I did before, I don't do them anymore. One of the things I learnt in my trying period is to be focused on the Lord and no matter how deep down one goes, God is mighty and able to lift him back
to the greatest heights."
The above was the response of Emmanuel Okose (aka Soul E) when asked about his depreciated relevance in the Nigerian music industry. Shortly after hitting it big, especially with the tracks, Soul E Baba dey Here, In My
Life, among few others, the young hip hop actor disappeared from lime-light. Since he left Colossal Entertainment, to start his own record label, Soul E International Records, all has never been well, especially with his finances. His failed marriage to older lover, Queen Ure is said to have also contributed to his thin pocket. But fans have also blamed him for lack of good planning only to seek for relevance when things are sour.

Baba Fryo
The last time anything news worthy was heard of him was on August 23, 2012, when he was beaten by policemen with their baton, kicked with their boots, handcuffed and dragged like a common thief to Isashi
Police Station, along Badagry Express Way. Within the period, 1999 to 2003 when he was still waxing strong in the Nigerian entertainment industry, before fame and
fortunes suddenly disappeared into thin air; no police man in Nigeria could have brutalised the Afro-reggae artiste to that extent.
Friday Igweh, popularly called Baba Fryo hit stardom in 1996 with a maiden album, Denge Pose,( a kind of dance one throws his leg as if suffering from waist pain) after which he released a sequel album, Notice Me, in 1999, and Country No Send, in 2003. Within those years,he reigned supreme. But today, it seems 'he can't denge and pose' again.

Marvellous Benji
Chinua Achebe's book, "Things Fall Apart" best captures Marvellous Benji's grace to grass fall. Back in the days when Suo, Konto, (a dance that involves both the hands and legs simultaneously as if pulling a string) and Galala were the reigning dances in Nigeria, Marvellous Benji, whose real name is Benjamin Ukueje also reigned alongside the era. But shortly after, his name, just like the
dance pattern, gradually went into limbo – a reason he is currently experiencing hard times. In 2012, he tried relaunching himself into the music industry with two singles, Iwo Ni Mofe, and My Life. Though it was a good
effort, but his expectations were never met. In an interview on his current state with Leadership, the artiste in a sober voice said he is working on a big hit in the pipeline and would let the public know when the meal is
ready.

Ekwe
Sunday Osakuni, popularly known as Original Stereoman Ekwe, is no doubt among the artistes with riches to rag stories. According to the artiste whose hit song, E dey Pain Me and once a Glo Ambassador, made waves a
few years back. His ordeal began after he was invited by homicide detectives, Force CID Panti, Yaba–Lagos, following an allegation that he strangled and killed his estranged wife, Rukayat Idris in April 2012. The incident,
no doubt, affected the fortunes and career of the dread-locked artiste. For almost a year now, shows have eluded him. And the matter is worsened by the absence of a trending song from the Delta State-born Stereo man.
We hope he will rise to fall no more.

Eddy Remedy
Eddy Ashiedu-Brown, better known as Eddy Montana, a former member of the defunct musical group, Remedies, has had his own share of misfortunes in the nation's
entertainment industry. He seems the only unsuccessful member of the defunct Remedies. He had a messy separation from his wife, Kenny Saint Brown of Kennis Music and has not been able to resuscitate his music career since he dropped the arrival of Eddy Remedy. His case is like the unfortunate hunter who caught a big Antelope but in a twinkle of an eye, let loose.

Daddy Fresh
The former dance-hall guru, who reigned alongside Daddy Showkey and Baba Fryo, has left the industry that once brought him fame and fortunes. His last attempt at reclaiming his lost spot on the music scene was a
monumental failure and ever since, nobody knows his whereabouts musically.

Fada U-turn
The name Femi Mayomi might not ring a bell in many ears. But once Fada U-turn is mentioned, people will scream and are bound to ask, "where is him now?" This talented singer, whose hit track, Yetunde, in 1999, became a household number is today struggling with life as a result of fortunes reversal.
At the moment, he is planning to stage a comeback into the industry, especially with the recent release of his brand new single entitled Gbafun Remix, which features K-Solo. The song which was also produced by K-Solo is the first single from Fada U-turn's forthcoming double album – Oba Shakara and Obaluaye, from the stables of Shakara sounds. We hope it would be a progressive U-
turn this time around.

The Way Forward
Entertainers should know that they are public figures and people (fans) are watching and monitoring their progression especially when they have made it big. It's left for them to work for the future and invest in any way
they can, even if it means opening a kiosk to aid them during the rainy day.
