If you do not advocate for freedom of thought, belief and your human right "God forbid" alone noh fit do am! Just take a look around you anywhere you are in the world and you will see the efforts (mostly and initially subterranean) of Islam targeted at enthroning Sharia worldwide which will eventually rob you of your freedom of thought, belief and human right. Every morning the Call to Prayer is made on very high decibel speaker systems causing noise pollution. On Fridays the streets are blocked (when other open spaces are available which they use during the E'id) by Muslims praying right on the roads made for passage of vehicles. During Ramadan you will be endangering your life to cook meals that let our aroma which makes the mouth to water! All the foregoing are targeted at taking over your space gradually until Sharia is fully in control! When a citizen who is not a Muslim points these and other matters out to Muslims the reply is usually that the fellow complaining is intolerant and they have coined the word "Islamophobia"!

Truth be said, he speaks truthfully from the perspective of Islam! A Muslim who says otherwise deploys Taqqiya. Most people including world leaders like Trump et al do not really understand Islam. Islam in its purest form does not recognise as proper a society not governed by Sharia. Put simply the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Nigerian Constitution is not recognised by Islam. What we have presently is Taqqiya in play. Islam encourage s a Muslim who finds himself living and working in the midst of non-Muslims to play along while he makes efforts to have Sharia take over the place and its systems. It could a long time but the Muslim is encourage to keep playing along and seize the system when he gets an opportunity to do so! When Sharia takes over all other believe systems, culture, traditions, lifestyle and educational activities get outlawed! Everyone who lives in such a society and is not a Muslim becomes a second class citizen or a slave! That is what the Muslim Cleric is saying!

Yes, Nigerian factor, although I don't know if it's a general black man's mentality. You can't be more skillful or vibrant than your boss. Otherwise, you a*rse will be kicked out
Exactly my point: you will lose your job if you work under a mediocre of a boss and you are not smart enough to not let him know that you are more skilful at the job than he is! As to whether mediocrity is in the DNA of the Blackman I think not. Reason is that through time Blackman have excelled in every area of human endeavour. In Nigeria for instance, our culture are deeply ingrained with sayings, proverbs and slangs that deprecate mediocrity. Examples are: "ooo se, oooo je" in Yoruba language which in English language means "there is no food for the lazy man"! I could go on!!

Everywhere you turn in anything that has to do with Nigeria is crawling with mediocrity.

All what everyone is looking for is money. No one what to deliver something equivalent to the money being requested.

People in power place their families in positions they are not qualified to handle.

The slogan, "nah your papa work" is now an anthem in every corner of this country.
Quite unfortunate. It is collectively harming our country. For instance, not many people know the story of how the Egbin Thermal Power Station at Ikorodu got critically damaged sometime back🧐😡.

Which year was that? The main Nigeria History wasn't taught in Nigeria most especially the civil war. I dont know about not but not in the past
I agree that when in the very early 80's I studied History in the secondary school there were no standardised History textbooks on the matter. The Civil War had not ripened sufficiently into History at that time if you get what I mean. Research has since made that available. Now, there are generally agreed historical facts about the Nigerian Civil War.

The History story of Nigeria is distorted by different tribes , different people , so which of the versions would you have expected the FG to introduce to our academic curriculum?
When I attended secondary school here in Nigeria there were standardised History textbooks that were devoid of distortions inspired by tribal inclinations. Professional Historians usually are agreed about those texts and work with the Ministry of Education in that respect. WE had no problems with that.
Politics › Re: Nigeria Was Near Collapse - Colonel Mohammed Ma’aji On Coup Plot by zoedew: 8:02am On Aug 11
See what AI has to say about the unfortunate coup plotter:-
"Yes, Colonel Mohammed Ma'aji’s repeated failure in his promotion examinations played a massive role in both his radicalization and his eventual capture.According to investigative files published by Premium Times, his career stagnation served as a critical turning point in the coup plot:The Ultimate Trigger: Ma'aji missed out on his promotion from Colonel to Brigadier General twice (once in 2023 and again in 2024). He admitted to investigators that he felt professional despair and believed his bosses were intentionally failing him to kill his career. The Radicalization: He told military interrogators that after failing the second time, he reasoned that if he could not take his "deserved place in the military," he should "aim at taking the whole country." He then used his career stagnation as a tool to recruit other disgruntled, stagnated officers across the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The Trap: Military intelligence capitalized perfectly on this specific grievance. To capture him without a fight, the Chief of Army Staff personally contacted Ma'aji with a fake invitation to a promotion meeting. Blinded by his desperation to advance, Ma'aji walked right into the ambush at House 12, Niger Barracks, where he was immediately arrested. While he has since argued that his main motivations were patriotism and Nigeria's harsh economic realities, his confidential statements and the military’s intelligence report establish that his double promotion failure was the spark that revived the entire conspiracy."

It is actually deeper than the ironic. Truth is, the mediocre usually seek to put down others at all costs. They do not want their inadequacies noticed. If you work in an office where your boss is a mediocre and you happen to be better at the job you will be wise to leave your skills at home each time you go to work!

It was a well informed decision based on the statistics showing the front runners in the Governorship race to invite the three front runners for the office. Merit based approach is best. A society that hopes to make progress throws up its brightest and best! For example, Nigeria would have been spared the evil Sanni Abacha and Ibrahim Babangida inflicted on her if they had been retired when they failed promotional examinations to Colonel TWICE! It was Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo who pleaded that the two men be retained in the Nigerian Army only for them to become an affliction on Nigeria!!!

By the British or American and other Western army positions if you fail military promotional examinations twice you cannot be promoted a Colonel. In a well considered and salutary decision, The Army Council while General Danjuma was Chief of Army Staff and Yar'Adua was Chief of Staff Supreme Headquarters recommended Sanni Abacha and Ibrahim Babangida be retired because they failed the exams twice. Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo who was the Head of State pleaded they retain them. Imagine how better for Nigeria it would have been if merit was upheld and Sanni Abacha and Ibrahim Babangida had been retired back then for failing military promotional exams twice! We would have been spared the evil the two men inflicted on Nigeria! I hope we will learn our lessons and enthrone merit above other less worthy considerations.

You'll be under constant pressure to meet up with several issues, it's common sense
Besides, if he passed his promotion exams which he failed twice while he was good enough at making babies he would have made it to Brig-Gen and earned a better pay. By the British or American and other Western army positions if you fail those examinations twice you cannot be promoted a Colonel. In a well considered and salutary decision, The Army Council while General Danjuma was chief of army staff and Yaradua was chief of staff supreme headquarters recommended Sanni Abacha and Ibrahim Babangida be retired because they failed the exams twice. Olusegun Obasanjo who was the head of state pleaded they retain them. Hence the liking IBB has till today for Obasanjo. Politics › Re: Nigeria Was Near Collapse - Colonel Mohammed Ma’aji On Coup Plot by zoedew: 6:27am On Aug 11
Bobloco:
Colonel Mohammed Ma’aji, accused of being involved in an alleged plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration, has said his actions were driven by patriotism and concern over what he described as Nigeria’s worsening condition rather than personal ambition.

Ma’aji said economic hardship, poor governance and declining welfare among Nigerians and military personnel shaped his concerns about the country’s direction, he said according to Premium Times on Monday.

“What has happened has a very long history, and it is driven by patriotism and I love the job and country.

“As we are all sitting down here, we have our biases and our thoughts and concerns on what was going on in our country from a state of gradual decline up to now, and we are almost at the point of collapse,” he said.

The colonel said his own struggles to provide for his five children on his salary further heightened his concerns about the economic situation.

He explained, “Every time I look at how I’m struggling to raise 5 children with my meager salary, I get worried.

“I attended Army Day Secondary School, but today, how many of us afford to take our children to these schools, and for one reason or the other, which is connected to the bad governance.”

Ma’aji also raised concerns about the welfare of soldiers, particularly personnel wounded during military operations.

He alleged that some injured soldiers receiving treatment at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna were not getting adequate care.

According to him, the conditions facing military personnel reinforced his belief that urgent measures were needed to change the country’s trajectory.

“The summary of all this is that this action was driven by the desire to have a prosperous nation and country that we all can be proud of. It got to a point that I was worried that if nothing is done, we may not have a country to call our own in the near future,” he said.

Ma’aji said the alleged plan involved mobilising officers who shared his concerns but maintained that the group had not reached the stage of executing any operation before his arrest.

“Nigeria was turning into a banana republic right before our eyes. We know that during the era of the military regime, the country was functioning better. I believe that, as it is now, we are on a dangerous trajectory.

“The plan was to get enough officers of like minds who could participate. We were still at the stage of mobilising to get more officers involved.

“This team has not been fully formed because there were supposed to be other meetings. There was no D-Day. We were waiting for the availability of resources and more officers and soldiers,” he added.

The officer also claimed that he personally financed much of the alleged plan, while Timipre Silva contributed about N400 million.

He denied foreign involvement and said no date had been fixed for the proposed operation.

Ma’aji further denied contacting some senior military officers, but said widespread dissatisfaction within the military, coupled with his unsuccessful promotion attempts, contributed to the revival of the alleged movement.

He called for the establishment of a formal channel through which military officers could raise concerns with the Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, without fear of victimisation.

Among his recommendations were improved remuneration and welfare packages for soldiers, better pension benefits, greater access to education and stronger measures against corruption within the country and the armed forces.

Ma’aji also criticised the removal of fuel subsidy, arguing that the policy should have been phased out gradually.

Following his arrest, the colonel appealed to the authorities for leniency, saying his experience had caused him to reconsider his approach.

He stated, “From the time I have been arrested till now, If I were to be released and these issues in the country persist, I will consider a different approach.

“We are pleading for leniency and pardon as first offenders. The system should take a deep breath and pardon us. They should give us a chance to mend our ways. We have no other country than Nigeria and no other job.

“This incident has really opened our eyes and has changed our mindset forever. It was not intended to destabilize the country at all.

“Everything we planned was born out of patriotism, love of country, and the desire to have a prosperous Nigeria that we all can be proud of.”

The alleged coup plot, which was uncovered in late September 2025, led to the cancellation of the October 1 Independence Day parade and changes in the military hierarchy, including the removal of Christopher Musa as Chief of Army Staff at the time

You are grossly misconceived in your purported love of Nigeria! That is not the way constitutionally provided for to achieve good governance in Nigeria. Politics › Re: Southeast Votes Alone Cannot Produce Nigeria’s President - Umahi Tackles Obi by zoedew:
Prevail123:
Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has taken a swipe at former Anambra State Governor and National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, saying the Southeast cannot produce Nigeria’s president by relying solely on votes from the region.

Umahi spoke in Abuja on Monday when he received members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on a courtesy visit who conferred on him Patron of the Association.

The Minister, while discussing the need for political integration and national cooperation, appeared to dismiss arguments centred on regional sentiments, stressing that the Southeast must work with other parts of the country to achieve its political aspirations.

“The vote of Southeast will not make our brother president. We need to work with other zones,” Umahi said.

He also criticised what he described as sentimental politics, urging Nigerians, particularly people from the Southeast, to focus on issues rather than emotions.

“Our people should not be sentimental,” the Minister said, adding that he believed the current administration had demonstrated an intention to integrate the Southeast into the national development agenda.

Umahi said the region had benefited from major infrastructure projects under President Bola Tinubu and attributed some of the projects secured in the Southeast to the President's commitment to addressing perceived imbalances.

“I have to be very honest with you. If I'm not a Minister from Southeast, we won't be able to get the projects we have gotten,” he said.

According to him, President Tinubu had demonstrated a willingness to “right the wrongs of the Southeast” through infrastructure development.

“It’s an intention of Mr. President. Go and right the wrongs of the Southeast,” Umahi quoted the President as directing.

The former Ebonyi State governor also appeared to make a direct reference to Obi while discussing political competition and the 2027 elections.

“He's a very good brother, friend. I wish him a happy birthday, he did to me when I celebrated my birthday” Umahi said.

He, however, insisted that the political debate should be centred on issues and governance rather than personal sentiments.

Umahi urged Nigerians to assess the Tinubu administration based on its performance, particularly in infrastructure development, rather than allowing regional or emotional considerations to determine their political choices.

He cited several road and bridge projects as examples of what he described as the administration's commitment to national development, including projects linking different parts of the country.
The name of the game Peter Obi plays in his bid for the Nigerian Presidency is Delusion. Delusion is a fixed belief that is not amenable to change in light of conflicting evidence. Peter Obi clearly did not win the last Presidential Elections but he insists to the contrary and his deluded supporters agree with him despite conflicting evidence! Delusion is a fatal phenomenon!! I must state that I am not a partisan politician or a Tinubu fan. Tinubu is not electable in 2027 since he could not fix the electricity supply problem. He promised to not present himself for reelection in the event that he fails to fix the electricity supply problem. I just cannot understand why as a people we are not rooting for a Yemi Osinbajo and or an Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to be President. They are folks who can fix our space but we are presently bickering over politicians whose performance are under par.
