I do not speak for the President who is certain not to have my vote in 2027 unless he keeps his word to provide steady power. However, my point of departure from The Cardinal is that it is dabbling into partisan politics for him to have said that the President is desperate to win reelection! I do not have issues with him tackling the President on issues of good governance.

You mean your home in ogbomosho. When will you guys be tired of these BS?
Okay, what is the name of the second most prominent family in Orsu?
This is what AI gathered on the issue:-
“ Orsu, a local government area in Imo State, Nigeria, became a major conflict zone and stronghold for the militant wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the Eastern Security Network (ESN). The rugged terrain, including the notorious "Mother Valley" spanning Orsu and Anambra states, served as a hidden command center and training camp for the separatist group before joint military operations dismantled their major strongholds.Conflict and Military OperationsStronghold Destruction: Nigerian security forces launched heavy clearance operations, destroying IPOB/ESN's "Supreme Headquarters" and numerous camps hidden deep within Orsu forests.1EDs and Warfare: Operations frequently involved landmines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and rocket launchers deployed by fighters against advancing troops.Human Cost: The prolonged insecurity displaced thousands of residents, devastated local infrastructure, and turned parts of the region into ghost towns.Differing PerspectivesGovernment and Military Stance: Federal authorities and security forces state that they targeted violent IPOB/ESN terrorists responsible for widespread killings, kidnappings, and destruction in Orsu.IPOB's Position: The central leadership of IPOB has consistently denied directing violence against local communities. They claim that autonomous, splintered "auto-pilot" criminal factions using the group's name carried out the atrocities, and they have called for independent investigations into both the criminals and military conduct in the area.are orsu and ihiala pro Biafra9 sitesOrsu and Ihiala are not inherently pro-Biafra by choice, but their geographic locations made them involuntary hotbeds for separatist militancy. While a portion of the local population historically shared general southeastern sentiments regarding regional marginalization, the local communities themselves have heavily suffered from, rather than embraced, the armed struggle. The connection between these areas and the pro-Biafra movement is defined by several distinct realities:Forced Enclaves, Not Willing HostsThe Mother Valley: The rugged, deeply forested border terrain between Orsu (Imo State) and Ihiala (Anambra State) was occupied by force due to its geography. Armed factions used the 5,000-foot-deep valley as a "Supreme Headquarters" because its dense canopy provided excellent cover from military air surveillance.Local Displacement: Rather than cooperating willingly, local residents in towns like Orsumoghu, Lilu, and Ihittenansa were terrorized, subjected to forced sit-at-home orders, or completely displaced from their homes.Community Backlash and VictimizationPleas for Help: Traditional and community leaders from Orsu and Ihiala have repeatedly made public appeals to both state governments and the Federal Government of Nigeria to deploy security forces to flush out the armed gunmen.High Casualties: Local populations have faced severe hardships, including extortion, kidnappings, and killings by criminal elements operating under the guise of Biafran agitation.Political and Security DynamicsFactional Violence: Clashes in these areas are often driven by radical splinter groups, such as the "auto-pilot" faction led by Simon Ekpa, which the central command of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has frequently denounced and blamed for regional atrocities.Military Reclamation: Intense joint security operations by the Nigerian military, under Operation Udo Ka, have steadily dismantled these border camps, allowing displaced villagers to slowly return to communities that were once paralyzed by the conflict.”

With all they useless regional projects Buhari did, what is now the condition of the north, these are the reasons Nigeria is going down the drain every other day.
This is also the more reasons we should boot out anything APC from government, even from your assertions, its obvious APC as a party only came for ethnic, religious and regional supremacy and never there to truly improve the wellbeing of Nigerians.

Something is definitely wrong with the so called leaders from the South. Look at how he convinently left Badagry - Sokoto that benefit majorly the North to attack road that would directly impact the economy of the SS particularly where he comes from.

Calabar was once a capital city but how many development you can find in that part of the country? When will Calabar advance in development when the little thing that could enhance such development is being criticized by the leaders of that region?

The sophistication leader from the South attached to politics is so egocentric and regressively appauling.

Where was Donald Duke voice when Buhari and Amaechi were building railway to Maradi in Niger Republic. It is so sad that an average Southern politician will mortgage his region on the alter of politics, that's why many of them will always play second fiddle to the North and their elite
Donald Duke and Rotimi Amaechi and Obasanjo will quench on the laps of the Northern Delilah. The way to go is when a Southern President assumes power he focuses on projects beneficial to the South but abandoned by a Northern President and Vice-versa. That is not to say that he will not run the nation generally.

But calabar already have an existing road to Lagos. What's your point!?
1. When the Ibo start their self-determination fights that come up every so often the existing road to Calabar becomes unsafe.
2. The Coastal areas to be opened up by the road construction has been long in coming! We need to do it to open our space.
3. A Northern President is not likely to commit the huge resources needed to build that road to the project. See how the Sokoto-Badagry project was abandoned across decades of our National existence!

There goes a man who could not think through a simple strategy to keep Tinapa and Obudu Cattle Ranch tourism initiative alive and working through successive administrations. Donald Duke displays ignorance about the strategic importance of that road considering the insecurity in the South-East where lies the main corridor into the South-South. Also there is the pressing need to open the coastal areas that had sat in obscurity for decades now. A nice approach to building the road is to do it in sectors and that is what the Federal Government is doing.

hucknall:
Hello Nairalanders,

Have you noticed that when you buy a brand new Samsung phone nowadays, you only get the phone and a type-c cable inside the box? No charger head, no earphones!

Why are they doing this?
Samsung says it is to protect the environment and reduce electronic waste. Most people already have working chargers at home, so reducing extra accessories helps cut down on carbon footprint. Another reason is to make the phone boxes smaller and lighter, which saves shipping costs.

What can you do about it?
1. Use your old charger: If you have a good quality charger head from your previous phone, you can use it. Just make sure it supports fast charging if your new Samsung supports it.
2. Buy a certified charger: If you need a new one, buy an original or good quality certified PD (Power Delivery) charger to keep your battery healthy.
3. Go wireless or use adapters: For earphones, you can switch to Bluetooth wireless earbuds or get a Type-C to 3.5mm audio jack adapter if you prefer wired earphones.

What do you think about this trend? Drop your comments below!
It just lowers the manufacturing cost so Samsung can cut costs while selling to you at great profit.

Politics › Re: Be Ready To Arrest All Of Us - PFN President, Bishop Wale Oke by zoedew: 1:43pm On Aug 04
CharlesCNG:
Please go back and read the press release again.

No one disputes that Christians in parts of Nigeria have suffered horrific attacks or that church leaders have every right—even a duty—to remain vigilant. But vigilance is not a licence to abandon fairness, due diligence or truth.

CAN and the PFN are not Donald Trump. Their standard should not be outrage first, investigate later." Before issuing such a strongly worded statement, they owed the President—and indeed the Nigerian public—the courtesy of getting the facts right.

The language of the press release was disappointing.
It repeatedly portrayed the proposal as "Tinubu's law," even though the preaching provision was not a new law. That clause had already existed in the FRSC legal framework for years; what the National Assembly principally changed was the penalty.

More importantly, President Tinubu has not even assented to the bill. Until he does, it remains a bill passed by the legislature.

Instead of immediately escalating the matter into a national religious controversy, why didn't CAN and the PFN first seek an audience with the President, present their constitutional concerns and urge him to withhold assent or return the bill for amendment?

That would have been responsible leadership. What they did is NOT responsible leadership at all.

The press release, unfortunately, gave the impression that confrontation was preferred to engagement and that a pending legislative process was being presented as a settled anti-Christian policy. That is neither fair to the President nor helpful to national cohesion.

Church leaders should always speak truth to power. But they must also speak truth ABOUT power.
Facts should precede outrage.

The pulpit is too sacred to become another political campaign platform. Our Lord Jesus Christ declared, "My house shall be called a house of prayer" (Matthew 21:13), as He drove out those who had turned the temple into something else.

The Church's greatest moral authority comes from proclaiming truth with integrity, not from allowing the altar to become another political rostrum in the run-up to an election.

The Church must never surrender its prophetic voice. But neither should it allow that voice to be weakened by avoidable factual errors or rhetoric that unnecessarily deepens political and religious divisions.
I have not disagreed with all you posited except that you found same irresponsible. Again, I maintain that when the press release is set against the background of the recent experience of the church an understanding of its tone will dawn on the reader. I am not a partisan politician and am not looking at the issue from the perspective of the political.
Politics › Re: Be Ready To Arrest All Of Us - PFN President, Bishop Wale Oke by zoedew: 9:24am On Aug 04
CharlesCNG:
What I find most worrying is that the PFN and CAN appear not to have carried out basic due diligence before rushing out such an irresponsible and politically loaded Press release.

Their position rested on several false assumptions. First, this is not a newly invented anti-Christian law:
The clause on preaching and hawking in commercial vehicles has existed in the FRSC legal framework for years. What the National Assembly principally did was reorganise the provision and increase the penalty.

The preaching clause is not a separate piece of legislation aimed specifically at Christians; it is only one provision in a broader road-safety amendment covering numerous traffic offences.

None of this means the clause should be supported. I believe it is overbroad, unnecessary and open to abuse. But opposing a bad provision does not justify misrepresenting its origin, presenting it as Tinubu’s personal law, or manufacturing a religious emergency before the President has even acted.

The language is inciting and so irresponsible.

When major Christian bodies abandon verification, ignore the legislative history and immediately frame the matter as an attack on Christianity, and start raining curses then something is wrong.

it inevitably raises questions about motive. One can only hope this is not the beginning of another election-season strategy in which religion is weaponised to create fear, deepen division and target President Tinubu ahead of 2027.
While your observations are valid it is also important to contextualize the Press Release in the light of proven Christian Genocide in Nigeria especially the North of the country. Vigilance is the first law of safety!!
