iz2much: How much is reasonable to send retired parents monthly for food in Nigeria?
For those of you supporting your parents back home, how much do you normally send them every month specifically for feeding?
My mum and dad are both retired and receive their pensions. They live in their own house in Ilorin, so no rent involved. Thankfully, no sickness or regular medication expenses either.
I’m mainly trying to work out a realistic monthly amount for food for just the two of them — normal groceries, rice, beans, meat, fish, vegetables, cooking ingredients etc.
With the current prices of food in Nigeria, what would you consider reasonable for two retired people per month?
₦100k? ₦150k? ₦200k? More?
I know everyone’s situation is different, but I’d like to hear from people who actually support their parents or know what two people currently spend on feeding in Nigeria. A minimum of N300k will tide them over monthly. N400k will put their minds at rest financially. N500k will elicit copious prayer from them to God in your behalf and your children will do better for you in Jesus name! |

Look, if Abacha and IBB Had been dismissed from the army, Nigeria would still be the way it is, because most of you support an economy based on selling raw materials and sharing the forex , so that you can import things
You do not support an economy that uses the raw materials to make exportable goods and services to the rest of the world.
It does not matter who is in charge, IBB, Abacha or someone else. it is this mentaility that gives us bad leaders and why the naira for example is as weak as it was in the 1980's.
Not just Nigeria, every African nation. Even the white run nations too. You want your government to give city dwellers fake imported first world life. Like the Argentines do, and now their debt is so bad that they are finally taking the measures they needed to have taken decades ago.
It does not matter which leader we choose or vote or which coup we run or not. Every African nation, including the traore they are praising, runs on this maxim. Export raw materials, import good life. Result is a raging debt, and poor infrastructure. What a perspective!🧐🧐🧐 |

Foreign Affairs › Re: SA Seeks Repayment From Nigeria, Malawi & Ethiopia For Repatriations by zoedew: 9:33pm On Aug 12 |
RandDigital: South Africa is asking several other African governments to reimburse it for the cost of sending tens of thousands of their citizens back home.
The request comes after South Africa deported or helped repatriate more than 80,000 immigrants, following protests and violence against illegal immigration.
According to the country's Home Affairs department, which briefed lawmakers on Tuesday, the country has spent nearly $18 million accommodating and transporting immigrants who demanded to return to their home countries.
The foreign ministry has sent written requests for compensation to Malawi, Ethiopia and Nigeria, officials said.
The money covered buses to transport the immigrants, temporary repatriation centers and staff overtime, among other expenses. Tommy Makhode, the director-general of the Home Affairs department, described the costs as “unforeseen and unavoidable.”
Some municipalities and government departments involved in the repatriation are demanding compensation from the Home Affairs department, since the costs had not been budgeted for.
Home Affairs minister Leon Schreiber has described the recent volume of repatriations and deportations as unprecedented.
The departures have come during heightened tensions over immigration in South Africa. Anti-illegal migration groups have held protests, and some attacks on foreign nationals have strained relations with other African governments.
The groups blame migrants for high unemployment, crime and pressure on public services.
Some countries in the region have accused the South African government of failing to protect its citizens, an accusation the government has denied.
Most recently, Ghana pushed for the situation in South Africa to be included in the agenda of an upcoming African Union meeting, a suggestion which was rejected by the continental body.
According to the latest government figures, 82,875 people have either been voluntarily repatriated or have been deported since the migration tensions began. However, figures released by governments of migrants' home countries put the total at about 178,000.
The departures are part of a broader government crackdown. Between April and July, 16,078 nationals mostly from Lesotho, Malawi, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Mozambique were deported through the country's Lindela Repatriation Centre.
South African law enforcement officials said last week they would intensify operations targeting illegal migration and related offenses.
They said they had arrested nearly 60,000 people who are in the country illegally, including 16,208 arrested in July alone. 🧐🧐🧐🧐 Provocative and most undiplomatic in all the circumstances. |

Politicstoday: THIS IS THE PROJECTS DISTRIBUTION IN OSUN STATE BY Ademola Adeleke?
These two tables show the distribution of major state projects under the Adeleke administration across Osun State.
###WHAT THE DATA SHOWS Out of the 20 projects listed, with a combined value of approximately ₦362.3 billion:
1. EDE FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY: 8 projects worth ₦260.5 billion (71.9%) This includes: Akoda–Oke Gada Dual Carriageway: ₦24 billion Osun New Airport: ₦130 billion 30km Intra-City Roads in Ede: ₦43 billion Plus five other major road and infrastructure projects.
2. OSOGBO: 3 projects worth ₦31.2 billion (8.6%) 3. ILE-IFE: 2 projects worth ₦17.6 billion (4.9%) 4. ILESA: 1 project worth ₦16.5 billion (4.5%) 5. IWO, ILA, IKIRUN, IJEBU-JESA, IKIRE: One or two projects each, with individual allocations below ₦10 billion and generally accounting for less than 3% of the total.
###THE HARD QUESTION
How can any reasonable indigene of Osogbo, Ile-Ife, Ilesa, Iwo, or any other part of Osun State look at these figures and honestly describe this distribution as fair and equitable?
This is not merely about politics. It is about equity, balanced development and responsible allocation of public resources.
If the figures presented in these tables are accurate, then having 71.9% of the value of these 20 major projects concentrated in one federal constituency raises serious questions about the principle of equitable distribution across the state.
Osun State belongs to all of us.
30 Local Government Areas. 9 Federal Constituencies. One Osun State. One people.
When approximately 72% of over ₦360 billion in major projects is concentrated in one federal constituency, there is a legitimate question to be asked:
Is this equitable distribution of public resources, or does it reflect an undue concentration of development in one area?
#OsunDeservesBetter #OsunForAll #LetTheDataSpeak #FollowTheMoney #EquityAndFairness #BalancedDevelopment #OsunPolitics #Osun2027 #Accountability #OneOsun #NoToNepotism #DevelopmentForAll I hear Adeleke's supporters say it is next the turn of other parts of Osun State to receive more attention.🧐. However, that will happen when he is done building the International Airport at Ede! Nike Gallery is smart. Her Art set up that receives and caters for tourists who flock to the annual Osun festival is now strategically positioned at Ede. It was formally positioned close to the Ido-Osun Airstrip where the failed Rauf Aregbesola made so much noise about building an International Airport! Let's see who the people vote. Even if either of the two political parties rig it is the choice of the people that will prevail considering the unbridgeable margin that will result. |
Christianity Etc › Re: When God Turns The Enemies Plan Against Him. by zoedew: 4:50pm On Aug 12 |
miracle002: Absolutely. Here is a strong revival/deliverance-style sermon built around the theme that the evil planned against God's people can become the very instrument of the enemy's destruction.
THE PLOT THAT BACKFIRED
When God Turns the Enemy's Plan Against Him
Main Texts: Esther 7:10; Exodus 14:27–28 Supporting Texts: Esther 3:8–9; Esther 5:14; Esther 6:1–12; Psalm 7:15–16; Isaiah 54:17
INTRODUCTION
There are battles in life that you did not start.
There are people who can dislike you without a reason. There are people who can plot against you, speak against you, manipulate circumstances against you, and secretly wish for your downfall.
But there is something every child of God must understand:
The enemy may have a plan, but God has the final word.
Haman planned the destruction of Mordecai and the Jews, but the plan turned against him.
Pharaoh pursued Israel to bring them back into slavery, but the same Red Sea that Israel crossed safely became the graveyard of Pharaoh's army.
This is the God we serve!
God does not only deliver His people from the trap; sometimes He turns the trap against the one who set it.
The Bible says:
«"He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made."»
— Psalm 7:15
That shall be somebody's testimony tonight:
"The thing they prepared for me shall not destroy me; it shall become the instrument of their own defeat!"
---
1. HAMAN'S PLOT AGAINST MORDECAI
Haman was promoted to a position of great authority in the Persian kingdom.
Yet one man refused to bow to him—Mordecai.
Haman became furious.
Instead of dealing only with Mordecai, Haman decided to destroy an entire nation.
Esther 3:6 says Haman sought to destroy all the Jews throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus.
Notice the progression:
Offence → hatred → conspiracy → decree → destruction.
Haman thought he was planning the end of Mordecai.
But he was actually planning his own downfall.
The enemy can be working against you while God is secretly working against the enemy.
Haman did not know that God was already positioning Esther.
He did not know that Esther would become queen.
He did not know that Mordecai's previous act of saving the king would suddenly become important.
He did not know that God would cause the king to lose sleep.
He did not know that his own pride would bring him into the presence of the king at the exact moment his wickedness was being exposed.
God was working behind the scenes.
---
2. HAMAN BUILT THE GALLOWS FOR MORDECAI
Esther 5:14 tells us that Haman's friends advised him to build a gallows for Mordecai.
The plan was simple:
Mordecai would die on the gallows.
Haman probably went to bed that night thinking:
"Tomorrow, Mordecai is finished."
But God had another plan.
That same night, the king could not sleep.
The king asked for the chronicles to be read.
And what did they discover?
Mordecai had previously saved the king's life.
Suddenly, the man Haman wanted to kill was the man the king wanted to honor!
The story changed overnight.
Somebody's situation can change overnight when God enters the matter.
The Bible says in Esther 6:10 that the king commanded Haman:
«"Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as thou hast said, and do even so to Mordecai."»
Can you imagine Haman's humiliation?
The man who wanted Mordecai disgraced had to publicly honor him.
The man who wanted Mordecai's elevation destroyed became an instrument of Mordecai's elevation.
That is divine reversal!
---
3. HAMAN FELL INTO HIS OWN TRAP
Eventually, Esther exposed Haman before the king.
The king became angry and discovered the gallows Haman had prepared for Mordecai.
Then came one of the greatest reversals in Scripture.
Esther 7:10 says:
«"So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai."»
Look at that carefully.
The gallows Haman prepared became Haman's gallows.
He dug a pit for another person and fell into it himself.
He prepared destruction and received destruction.
He planned humiliation and experienced humiliation.
He planned death and encountered death.
The enemy's weapon does not have to become your destiny.
Isaiah 54:17 declares:
«"No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper."»
It does not say weapons will never be formed.
Weapons may be formed.
But they shall not prosper!
There may be conspiracies.
There may be accusations.
There may be opposition.
There may be people talking.
There may be things happening behind your back.
But God has the ability to turn the counsel of the enemy against itself.
---
4. PHARAOH'S PURSUIT OF ISRAEL
Now consider Pharaoh.
Israel had left Egypt.
But Pharaoh changed his mind.
He gathered his army, his horses and his chariots and pursued the Israelites.
Exodus 14:9 says:
«"But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh..."»
Israel suddenly found itself trapped.
The Red Sea was in front of them.
Pharaoh's army was behind them.
There appeared to be no escape.
But what looked like a dead end was actually God's pathway.
Sometimes God allows you to reach a place where human strength cannot rescue you so that His power can be revealed.
Moses told the people:
«"Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD."»
— Exodus 14:13
Then God divided the Red Sea.
Israel walked through on dry ground.
But Pharaoh made one critical mistake:
He followed God's people into the place God had opened for them.
The same sea that opened for Israel did not open for Pharaoh in the same way.
The Israelites had a covenant with God.
Pharaoh had a pursuit against God's people.
---
5. THE RED SEA BECAME A BATTLEFIELD OF DIVINE REVERSAL
Exodus 14:27–28 says that when Moses stretched out his hand, the sea returned to its strength and covered the Egyptians.
Think about the symbolism.
Israel entered the sea with death behind them.
Israel came out with freedom before them.
Pharaoh entered the sea believing he was pursuing Israel.
Pharaoh came out no more.
What was a pathway for God's people became a graveyard for their enemy.
That is divine reversal!
The enemy thought:
"I will catch them."
God said:
"You will not see them again."
The enemy thought:
"I will return them to bondage."
God said:
"I will permanently separate them from their oppressor."
Exodus 14:13 says:
«"The Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever."»
---
6. GOD CAN TURN YOUR BATTLE INTO YOUR TESTIMONY
The Red Sea was not merely an obstacle.
It became a testimony.
Mordecai's opposition was not merely an attack.
It became an occasion for his promotion.
Joseph's pit became the beginning of his journey toward the palace.
Daniel's lions' den became evidence of God's power.
The three Hebrew children entered the fiery furnace bound, but came out promoted.
David faced Goliath and came out with greater recognition.
Sometimes the place of your greatest battle becomes the place of your greatest testimony.
What the enemy calls your end, God can turn into your beginning.
What looks like rejection can become promotion.
What looks like delay can become preparation.
What looks like a closed door can become divine redirection.
What looks like a trap can become a testimony.
---
7. THE GOD OF REVERSAL
There is a dimension of God's power that changes situations completely.
The Bible is filled with divine reversals.
Haman planned Mordecai's death → Mordecai was honored.
Haman prepared the gallows → Haman died on it.
Pharaoh pursued Israel → Pharaoh was destroyed.
Joseph was sold as a slave → Joseph became a ruler.
David was overlooked → David became king.
The stone was rolled against Jesus' tomb → Jesus rose from the grave.
This is why we should never judge the final chapter by the present situation.
God can rewrite the story.
---
8. WHEN GOD FIGHTS FOR YOU
Exodus 14:14 says:
«"The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace."»
There are battles you cannot win by shouting.
There are battles you cannot win by human connections.
There are battles you cannot win by money.
There are battles you cannot win by retaliation.
Sometimes the greatest thing you can do is stand in faith while God fights for you.
This does not mean we become careless or refuse legitimate action.
It means we refuse to take vengeance into our own hands.
Romans 12:19 says:
«"Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord."»
Let God handle what is beyond your ability to handle.
---
9. THE ENEMY CAN OVERPLAY HIS HAND
Haman's greatest mistake was his pride.
He did not realize that his access to the palace would become evidence against him.
He did not realize that his relationship with the king would expose him.
He did not realize that the very gallows he built would become his judgment.
Pharaoh did not realize that his pursuit would bring him into the place of his destruction.
The enemy can overplay his hand.
There are moments when God allows the enemy to proceed until his own wickedness becomes the evidence for his judgment.
Psalm 9:16 says:
«"The LORD is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands."»
---
10. YOUR RESPONSE MUST BE FAITH, NOT FEAR
When Israel saw Pharaoh, they were afraid.
But Moses said:
«"Fear ye not."»
When Mordecai was threatened, God was already arranging his deliverance.
The lesson is this:
Don't allow the size of the enemy to make you forget the size of your God.
Pharaoh had chariots.
Israel had God.
Haman had political influence.
Mordecai had God's providence.
Your enemy may have connections.
Your enemy may have money.
Your enemy may have influence.
But God does not need to be bigger than the enemy in human terms. He simply needs to be God.
And He is God!
---
DECLARATIONS
Lift your hands and declare:
1. Every evil plan against my life shall fail in Jesus' name!
2. Every conspiracy against my destiny shall be scattered!
3. The trap prepared for me shall not become my grave!
4. Every gallows prepared against me shall become a testimony of divine reversal!

---
CLOSING EXHORTATION
Beloved, remember:
Haman had a plan—but God had a greater plan.
Pharaoh had an army—but God had a sea.
Haman had a gallows—but God had a reversal.
Pharaoh had chariots—but God had a Red Sea.
The enemy may be planning, but God is also working.
And when God steps into the matter, the story can change.
The gallows can become a testimony.
The Red Sea can become a pathway.
The conspiracy can become a promotion.
The battle can become a testimony.
The attack can become an announcement of God's faithfulness.
So don't give up because of what you see.
Don't conclude your story because of one chapter.
Don't let the enemy convince you that the battle is the end.
The God of Mordecai is still God. The God of Moses is still God. The God who turned Haman's plot against him is still God. The God who drowned Pharaoh's army is still God.
And if God be for you, who can be against you?
FINAL PROPHETIC WORD
I declare over your life:
The plan will backfire.
The trap will fail.
The evil decree will be overturned.
The Red Sea will open.
The Pharaoh will be defeated.
The Haman will fall.
And you will cross over into your testimony!
In Jesus' mighty name. Amen! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! |

aswani: It was Abacha own that I heard, not IBB. President Obasanjo crossed his name off the list as he said Abacha was totally useless and would be completely lost without the military as he had zero skills of any sort.
Fast forward a few years later, sane Abacha wanted to kpai him, see life.
Even though IBB was Abacha's boss, he too was scared of him.
We need a documentary on Abacha. It remains to be seen whether Nigerian Journalists will do the needful. |

Portable water is not available in houses barely two minutes walking distance from the water reservoir at Costain! It is horrifying that these are not the matters for concern to Osogbo indigenes! The back of ATAOJA’s Palace is so dirty and stinks to high heavens! |
