Lanre1st: Did you understand what you read at all, where did Tinubu wage in in the report.
Go school, you no go. You just dey contribute nuisance on SM
"Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, has weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding the leadership of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, saying traditional rulers must adapt to the realities of modern governance and work together for unity and development rather than seeking supremacy." I won't descend into the gutter and murky morass that is your obvious choice. It is not out of place for a reader of the piece to view the SSA position as that of Tinubu. I suggest you pick up good manners in communication before it becomes too late for you to have a change for the better in this one life God has afforded you!
What talk is this? I guess Tinubu wants to lose Oyo State. I should have thought it was best for him to leave Alaafin and Makinde do their battle and not weigh in on either side and wait to be consulted in seeking a resolution of same. Anyway,, what do I know!💁
Not to mention how much is lost to corruption under their watch! All will receive due reward from God eternally when death comes calling. Only repentance will save them from eternal damnation! The comparison with what other nations have spent on their ex-heads of states within the same period is commendable.

JohnMo2: 2027: "If I win, the youths will have opportunities" - ADC Presidential aspirant, Rotimi Amaechi
Former Governor of Rivers State and Presidential hopeful, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi on Friday hosted members of the United Opposition led by Alhaji Hayatu.
While speaking with the group drawn from various parts of the country, the Presidential aspirant on the platform of ADC commended them for their resolve to join in rescuing Nigeria from "the bad governance of the current administration".
He assured that when he becomes President of Nigeria, he will give fifty percent of his cabinet to youths and women.
He cited his time as Governor of Rivers between 2007 and 2015, emphasizing how he ran a youthful cabinet in Rivers State and how he plans to do the same at the Federal level upon assumption of office as President.
He further highlighted that as Governor of Rivers State, he led a cabinet where he was the eldest at age 42. He clarified that with the exception of Magnus Abe, who was in his age bracket, the majority of his team were young professionals in their 30s.
Drawing from his record in Rivers State, he concluded: "This means that if I win, the youth will have the opportunity to serve as members of the Federal Cabinet."
Like they had when you were Rivers State Governor and Minister of Transport both appointments spanning about 16 years!🧐🧐🧐 Only the blind, dumb, ignorant and undiscerning will believe Rotimi Amaechi and that at their peril. What audacity!
Odidigboigbo: Be calming down. mark my word, the CJ will not set up the panel and heaven will not fall, then let's see how they would proceed with the impeachment without first, RSCJ constituting an investigative panel.
If that is how Riverians want their space so be it!
Faber: IMPEACHMENT OF GOV. FUBARA IS ALREADY STATUTE BARRED.
The Impeachment Proceedings against Governor Fubara and his Deputy by the Members of the Rivers State House of Assembly is already STATUTE BARRED An impeachment proceedings is time barred. The Supreme Court has consistently held that impeachment proceedings require STRICT COMPLIANCE with the provisions of the Constitution. In Inakoju v. Adeleke (2007) 4 NWLR (PT. 1025) 432 and Dapianlong v. Dariye (2007) PT. 1036) 332, the Supreme Court held that where the House of Assembly fails to STRICTLY COMPLY with CONSTITUTIONAL REQUIREMENTS -such as: a valid two-thirds majority for the initial resolution, or proper service of notice on the affected Executive, etc the Courts have jurisdiction to intervene and stop the Chief Judge from proceeding. NOTE that the Order only restrained the Chief Judge of Rivers state not to act on the request from the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. By virtue of Section 188(5) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), the Chief Judge shall at the request of the Speaker of the House of Assembly appoint a Panel of seven person WITHIN SEVEN (7) DAYS of the passing of a motion for impeachment. Recall that the Rivers State House of Assembly moved the motion to impeach the Governor Fubara and his Deputy on the 8TH DAY of JANUARY, 2026. Thus, the Chief Judge of Rivers State has SEVEN (7) DAYS to appoint the Panel of seven persons to investigate the allegations at the request of the Speaker of the House of Assembly. It is also on record that it is only today being 16TH DAY of JANUARY 2026 that the Speaker of Rivers State House deemed it fit to request the Chief Judge of Rivers State to appoint the said Panel. A simple arithmetic of calculating the days from 8TH DAY of JANUARY 2026 to 16TH DAY of JANUARY 2026 will give you at least EIGHT ( CLEAR DAYS. The above being the case, the request to Chief Judge by the Speaker of the House of Assembly is already statute barred together with the powers of the Chief Judge of the Rivers State to appoint a Panel to investigate the purported allegations. Therefore any action taken by the Chief Judge of Rivers State and or the Rivers State House of Assembly on the impeachment proceedings going forward has become unconstitutional, illegal, null and void and of no effect, and liable to be set aside; because the impeachment proceedings is now statute barred and cannot be resurrected. Assuming without conceding that the seven days time, within which the Chief Judge has to appoint a Panel to investigate the allegations is still running; by virtue of the Interim Order of Court restraining him from so doing, which shall last for SEVEN (7) DAY, and shall end on the 23RD DAY of JANUARY 2026, being the date the case was adjourned to, thus the seven days granted the Chief Judge of Rivers State to appoint the Panel of investigation under the Constitution would have also elapsed.
It is obvious that:
1. The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly did not send a request to the Chief Judge of Rivers State to appoint a Panel of seven persons within SEVEN DAYS of the impeachment notice; and
2. The Chief Judge of Rivers State also did not appoint the said Panel within Seven days of the notice of impeachment.
Head or tail, the impeachment proceedings is already dead. The Speaker of the House of Assembly killed the impeachment proceedings with his own hands by not acting within time. He shot himself on the foot. He has himself to blame. The battle is over forever. Congratulation to Governor Fubara and his Deputy.
press9jatv: Can a Court stop the impeachment of Governor Fubara?
The ongoing impeachment moves against Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State have once again brought to the fore a recurring constitutional question in Nigeria’s democratic practice: Can the courts stop an impeachment process once the House of Assembly has invited the Chief Judge to constitute a panel to investigate allegations against a governor?
The simple answer is yes.
Impeachment in Nigeria is a constitutional process governed strictly by Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). While it is often described as a political tool in the hands of legislators, the law is settled that impeachment is not beyond judicial scrutiny. What courts may not interrogate are the political reasons for impeachment; what they can and do examine is whether the procedure laid down by the Constitution has been faithfully followed.
Under Section 188, impeachment follows a sequence: a notice of allegation signed by not less than one-third of the members of the House, service of the notice on the governor, a resolution supported by two-thirds of members, and a request to the Chief Judge to constitute a seven-man panel to investigate the allegations. Only after the panel submits its report can the House take the final step of removal.
Once the House writes to the Chief Judge to set up a panel, the process has certainly advanced. However, it has not crossed the point of no return.
Nigerian courts have consistently held that they can intervene at any stage of impeachment proceedings where there is evidence of constitutional breach. This position was firmly established in landmark cases such as Inakoju v. Adeleke and Dapialong v. Dariye. The courts made it clear that while impeachment is political in nature, compliance with constitutional procedure is a legal obligation enforceable by the judiciary.
Therefore, a court order can lawfully stop impeachment proceedings, even after the request to the Chief Judge, if certain conditions exist. These include situations where the House of Assembly is not properly constituted, where there is no valid quorum, where lawmakers involved are themselves under legal dispute, or where the steps taken violate the clear provisions of Section 188. Similarly, denial of fair hearing, rushed timelines, or actions driven by bad faith can attract judicial intervention.
In such cases, courts may issue restraining orders, injunctions, or orders maintaining the status quo. These orders may prevent the Chief Judge from constituting a panel or halt the panel from continuing its work. Contrary to popular opinion, this does not amount to judicial interference in legislative affairs; rather, it is the enforcement of constitutional supremacy.
However, it must also be stated clearly that courts are generally reluctant to interfere with impeachment where due process is strictly followed. If the House of Assembly is lawfully constituted, the required numbers are met, and every procedural step is complied with, the judiciary will likely allow the process to run its course.
Applied to the Rivers State situation, the decisive factor is not the political tension or the personalities involved, but the legality of the process. If Governor Fubara can demonstrate that the House’s actions are constitutionally defective, illegitimate, procedurally flawed, or done in bad faith, the courts are empowered to intervene. If not, the impeachment process may proceed unhindered.
This distinction is critical for Nigeria’s democracy. Allowing courts to enforce due process prevents impeachment from becoming a tool of vendetta or political ambush.
In the final analysis, impeachment is neither above the law nor immune from abuse. The Constitution remains the ultimate referee, and the courts remain its faithful guardians. Whether the impeachment of Governor Fubara proceeds or stalls will depend, not on political noise, but on strict adherence to constitutional discipline.
That, ultimately, is the true test of democratic maturity.
Christian U. Abu, PhD, MNIM, MAAPS
Yes but only if the procedure as prescribed by the Constitution was not followed. You got it wrong at para 6 of this piece as the court cannot intervene during the procedure. It is only at the conclusion of the procedure. Read s.188 cfrn ‘99 closely and the Inakoju and Abaribe cases. At the present stage of the procedure that court cannot stop the ongoing procedure. Only at the point where the procedure has run its entire cause can the Governor properly bring an action and all the court is empowered to do is to check to be sure that the procedure as prescribed by the Constitution was followed by the Legislature.
IJAYA001: Politics is never by sentiment, who appoint Chief Judge of River State. That was the reason Fubara changed chief judge.
Several reasons I said it is a waste of time: 1. If Rivers State folks want to be governed by a person described in the terms the Supreme Court used that is their preference and they are entitled to live by the consequences now and in the future. 2. The elections are just a few months away and the people will speak their preference as between Fubara and Wike. Interesting times are ahead.
truthera: The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has declared that the conviction of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, was based on what it described as ‘engineered insecurity’.
IPOB made the assertion in a statement by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, on Wednesday. The pro-Biafra group noted that Kanu could not have been responsible for the insecurity in the South-East while he was held in solitary confinement, with no access to phone or the outside world.
IPOB blamed individuals it described as ‘desperate political’ actors for the violence that rocked the South-East after Kanu’s extraordinary rendition from Kenya, where he was arrested in 2021.
According to the statement, the insecurity was engineered to frame Kanu and IPOB as terrorists, to pave way for his eventual conviction.
Parts of the statement, titled ‘Engineered insecurity and judicial absurdity: How a man in solitary confinement was blamed for crimes he could not have committed’, read, “The noble family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) draws the attention of Nigerians and the international community to a dangerous lie that has been carefully constructed to justify the continued detention and conviction of our leader.
"Immediately after the extraordinary rendition of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in June 2021, desperate political actors—many of whom have long envied his influence—unleashed violence and chaos across the South-East. Their aim was simple and wicked: create insecurity and blame it on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, so they could later claim they were right to abduct, detain, and jail him.
“These are the same people who rushed to proscribe IPOB, after Ekwulobia and Aba mega rallies in mid-2017 where millions trooped out just to catch a glimpse of our leader, even though the Abuja Federal High Court had earlier in March 2017 ruled that IPOB is not a terrorist organisation. In plain terms, a group declared lawful by a court was later branded “terrorist” through ex-parte for political convenience.
“These are the same people that killed IPOB members that organised and attended President Trump Solidarity Rally in Igweocha (Port Harcourt) on 20 January 2017. Again, Biafrans killed without justification.
"It is painful to note that yet again, the same forces behind the manufactured insecurity are the same ones who unleashed Operation Python Dance, a military operation that targeted Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for assassination and led to the killing of unarmed civilians across the South-East with 28 murdered in his country home.”
IPOB said it was shocking that the trial judge in Nnamdi Kanu’s trial blamed him for insecurity in the South-East without any evidence.
The statement added, “Most shocking of all is what followed in court. In his judgment, Omotosho repeatedly cited insecurity in the South-East from 2022 onwards and blamed it on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu—despite the fact that Mazi Kanu had already been abducted, rendered to Nigeria, and locked in underground solitary confinement.
"Let Nigerians and the world pause and think. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was held incommunicado in the custody of the (DSS) in Abuja. He had no phone, no visitors, no access to the outside world. Yet he was blamed for events said to have happened in the South-East, outside prison walls.
“This is not justice. It is judicial nonsense. Let us state the absurdity clearly: A man in total state custody was convicted for crimes allegedly committed while he was in chains.
In any sane country, such reasoning by a supposed learned judge would attract instant condemnation from fellow judges and the legal fraternity. But in Nigeria, the plot was so well executed that many people stopped asking basic questions.”
IPOB insisted that there is no evidence to tie Kanu to the violence and killings blamed on him.
“Nobody has asked: Who did Mazi Nnamdi Kanu kill? Who came to court to say Kanu killed their brother, sister, or parent? Where is the evidence—bodies, witnesses, forensic proof? There is none. Absolutely none.
“Those who planned this deception did a thorough job. They confused the public, silenced questions, and drowned the truth in propaganda. But no lie lasts forever.
“If these Igbo politicians and their external sponsors had been honest enough to admit that the insecurity story was deliberately created just to jail Kanu, our leader would have willingly sacrificed himself if it would have saved the innocent Biafrans who were killed simply to build a case against him. Their blood cries out,” the group added.
IPOB called on the international community, foreign governments and parliaments, human rights organisations, lawyers and judges of conscience, “to look beyond propaganda and confront the truth: this conviction is built on manufactured insecurity, no evidence, and the criminalisation of political dissent”.
“History will remember those who spoke the truth—and those who used chaos to silence a man,” IPOB declared.
You call your country a Zoo. Necessary implication is that you are an animal. Traps are set for animals. Nnamdi Kanu has been caught in a trap. He is there as we speak howling at the Prison Walls!

There is no big deal about that. Bukola Saraki did his own father in politically. Gbemi, his sibling contested election successfully on the platform of a different political party.
lapintoz: You may ask the courts to step in or ask Google.
I am not sure anyone knows anyone of your ancestors at all.
Folks should stop bickering over politicians who, unknown to you, fraternise well in private. One day while I was with a former Speaker of a State House of Assembly he placed a call to the current Speaker of the said State House of Assembly who belonged to a different political party. They threw banters and shortly the former Speaker said he was broke and needed some money and that the current Speaker send his driver over with some cash! Now, folks will be fighting over the same set of politicians!!!
Part of strategy to get to be President! Nigerians are not deceived! If you like spread other members of your household to join as many political parties as possible you will meet your friend Tinubu there since it is a game you all know how to play very well. Please greet Tinubu very well when next you both speak on phone which is not as infrequent as many Nigerians imagine.
Kewekubosineh: Stop your heartless and tribalistic narrative.
The state government deliberately left them to die. No effort was made to rescue them. Even when the relatives wanted to hire outsiders to bolster the rescue efforts, the state government refused.
Consequently, they were left to die by the state government.
Wicked souls 😭
Your comment does not help issues going forward. Such narrative as you push if spread in the Igbo communities back in the South-East is likely to be believed and will further engender hatred for folks who are not Igbo. You very well know that it is not true that the Lagos State Government "left them to die".

Do be careful, lest your eyes, red, like embers of fire catch fire! Peter Obi won't borrow you his pair of eyes so you can see. I'm sure you know that Peter Obi does not give shishi!🤣🤣🤣

fergie001: The National Judicial Council has recommended an Appeal Court Judge, Joseph Oyewole to the Supreme Court
CASES HANDLED BY JUSTICE OYEWOLE At the High Court of Lagos State, Justice Oyewole handled some high profile cases:
- In 2005, he convicted and sentenced Emmanuel Odinigwe Nwude, Nzeribe Edeh Okoli (original perpetrator) and Mrs Amaka Martina Anajemba who were involved in defrauding a Brazilian bank of $242m to build a fictitious airport, one of the biggest scams ever in the world, causing the collapse of the Banco Noroeste in 2001.
- In 2007, he convicted and sentenced Pastor Emeka Ezeugo (aka Rev King) to death by hanging, for the alleged murder of a church member, Ann Uzoh. This judgement was affirmed by the Appeal Court and Supreme Court.
At the Appeal Court, he authored and read the unanimous judgement affirming the decision of Justice Omotosho recognising Martin Amaewhule as the Rivers Assembly Speaker as well as voiding the ₦800bn 2024 Rivers budget passed by a faction of the RSHA during the feud between Governor Fubara and his benefactor, Wike.
Controversy Following the retirement of George Olaniyi Ojo as Osun CJ on 8/11/12, Governor Rauf Aregbesola nominated a then mid-level Judge of the Lagos High Court, Justice Oyewole as the Osun CJ, a decision that met serious opposition in the Osun Judiciary. It created a stand-off between the State Government together with the State House of Assembly on one hand and the Osun Judiciary and the NJC on the other. The NJC insisted that one of the most senior Judges, Oyebola Adepele-Ojo or Gloria Oladoke (both of them appointed Judges of the High Court of Osun State same day on 21/12/2000), be sworn-in.
The Osun Judiciary had no Chief Judge in acting or substantive capacity for 10 days before the Rauf-led Government bowed to NJC pressure,. Justice Oyewole later transferred his service from Lagos to Osun Judiciary on 4/12/2012.
