You people are unbelievable. You've not even crossed MMIA 2 and you are already showing off your ALUTA continua behaviors. You all need to calm down and be patient.

Clearly, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Do you have your ECA and IELTS done yet? Only a very very newbie in the EE process will make such a comment regards a petition against AVO.

Hello everyone,

I know the majority of people here are already landed but PLEASE we need your help. Accra Visa Office is killing us slowly. [s]It seems AVO is where people get sent to be punished for wishing to leave Nigeria.[/s]

Kindly help us sign this petition addressed to Minister of Immigration as regards the slow pace at AVO.
Please help us. We are all tired of the long wait.

Thanks.

Can you help me out by signing this petition?

Apprenticeship:
Getting an apprenticeship position in Calgary has never really been easy since I moved to Canada, so it is expected to be tougher now that there is a glut in crude oil. It is an old boys club; hence, they offer most of the positions to relatives and friends. Some have been able to overcome this challenge by taking a pre-apprenticeship program at SAIT, but this still only gives a 50-50 chance and cost $$$. This is not to say it's impossible to easily get an apprenticeship position in Calgary, its just more difficult....

My goodness Salford1! You seem to know quite alot about everything. You are so knowledgeable about Canada. Wow!

Dear E-Fam,

Happy new year to you all
I am trying to update documents for my new baby ADR. The value of my POF required has increased because of the addition of a new family member. Do I need to upload a new POF as the POF I submitted earlier will not be sufficient. Though they did nt list POF with part of the requirement for the addition.

My application was 5 month as at when I raised CSE and criminality and background check has not been conducted. My application is going to be 6 month in a week. At was point should I request for GCMS notes?

Thank all

Seniors in house please urgently come to my rescue, my ADR expires in a few days

I think it's safer to increase POF and raise a CSE to that effect.

You can request GCMS notes anytime. However, you might want to do it after uploading ADR and updating POF so that these changes can reflect in the GCMS notes.

Redo medicals? Have you been waiting for a year? Send AVO a mail na

I haven't been waiting for a year but I did medicals months before AOR. I have sent them a mail but it seems nothing moves AVO, they do things in their own time.

Hehehe.

I pray you don’t have to redo medicals. God will find a way. Are you in IP2? Has AVO freed others? I truly thought they’d opened their doors with mine.

Amen. Still in IP1 and same for others. We are looking forward to January.

Any news from Accra? Are you on the WhatsApp group?

Yes I'm on the Whatsapp group. You were in the group so you must know me - you just can't marry my monicker to my Whatsapp name. grin

I'm still waiting for AVO. I pray I get PPR early January, else I may have to redo medicals.

As a soon-to-be Canadian, I 100% support this. Infact, the test should have same importance level as IELTS. The one I just can't comprehend is an individual with a strong hate for LGBTs applying for PR. How can you clamour to live amongst people whose values you strongly detest? Whatever happened to remaining in 'holy' Nigeria and making heaven?

I will appreciate you don't use that 'submission' as a bait and ride on his goodwill to immigrate after which you execute the bolded because you have will have arrived a new space.. Get done with whatever your plans may be in wherever you are, stand up as a WOMAN that you are and paddle the immigration ship from start to finish by yourself so you can get married to anyone of choice on arrival in your new space... That exactly is what is worth doing and honorable to do in the position to which you stand now.. It will be inhumane to have the man invest in all that pertains to immigration with a bottled up plan of wielding the axe when the food don done oo..

I did mention being thankful for a family who's got my back financially and otherwise - I really meant that. Besides, my exit isn't tied to PPR. He's aware of my intention.

I don't why you are bringing women into this bride price matter because last I checked there's no village I know of in Nigeria were women collect bride price. Its strictly a "men" thing and it still continues till this day because it's the last thing men use to claim submission.

Well said. I was going to give a similar response but I decided to let it slide. I no get power.

Thanks for sharing. I pray you both receive grace to see where each other hurts. To be honest, people who hurt you in marriage are not necessarily "bad" people, they are just people coming with a different mindset and it is definitely possible for that mindset to change. I pray that happens for you but beyond that, I pray you receive peace and happiness irrespective of the decision you ultimately make.

You are very right. My husband is not a bad person but his mindset about marriage makes him a very very poor partner. I can only hope my impending exit awakens him and makes him treat his future partner way better.

You are hilarious! grin

I am a bit confused by your stand in the bolded ?
1. Are you saying its okay to divorce ?
2. Are you a christian or muslim, its the holy book that says women should submit if you want to have a happy and long lasting marriage not me (Turns out the book is right as nations that have this order reversed have the highest divorce rates).
3. Each person has a choice to make, for me I have decided it is in my best interest to avoid women who want to stand up to their men. Are you saying there are no women even in the western countries who do not consider submission slavery ? Are you saying all the women abroad stand up to their men and form equality?
4. Lastly, are you inferring that the only set of women that submit are those that are financially handicapped ?
5 . I had to address the last bolded, Marriage for you may appear like an hobby or a to-do list but for some men, men like me its a lifetime commitment to support and remain faithful to one partner. Now you'd agree it will be tragic to get married to a lady who thinks she has the right to pop out of marriage at the slightest hint of unhappiness like you have posited she has a right to, ofcourse she does but I do not pray to meet such a woman in this life .
I pray for a woman who understands the sanctity of marriage and is ready to weather the storm even in those times when things will not be rosy, this is life and not a film or hollywood fantasy movie, challenges will come and such a woman with the mindset you described above will run.

I can't explain how I feel reading your mindset towards marriage. Men like you scare me and one of my motivations to immigrate is to drastically reduce the chances of me and my unborn daughters coming across a man with your mindset. Sadly, your kind abounds in Nigeria.

You see, I understand you perfectly. My husband reasons just like you and he's always quick to bring religion and submission into the picture. I am a quiet and agreeable person and in hindsight, it's part of the reason he thought I would make a good wife. When I began pushing back by saying 'NO! This and that is inhumane and not acceptable', he labels me a nag, says I am unforgiving and always threatens divorce, all in a bid to shut me up. That threat really got me into 'submission'.

Maternal is right about the divorce rate in Nigeria being lower due to financial constraint. I tell you if Nigerian women had the needed support, many would have walked out. If I wasn't lucky to have a family that can financially, morally and emotionally support me, 'submission' would have been my lot.

Someday soon I plan to walk away. I do wish to get married again but the thought of being with a Nigerian man frightens me. I'm so drained I don't think I can go that route again.

**I'm sorry to share this much but I really wish men like you would understand better.**

Believe me, I know how frustrated you are. But it won’t make a difference. They are aware you now have 3 years experience but they don’t care. As long as you’ve gotten your ITA and they’ve checked your points validity, adding to your points at this stage won’t help. We might be waiting for January but imagine if they put you back in AVO and this time you’re bottom of the list? It could now be January 2020! Since they only seem to give PPR at the beginning of the year.
Have you heard from Ralph on your matter?

I'm sorry for the delayed response. I decided to stay off Nairaland because the PPR announcements were overwhelming.

I decided not to mail Ralph or anyone else. I am exhausted. Several AVO applicants have mailed and all they get is a generic response. The few times AVO responded to people, they said to look forward to late 2018/early 2019.

Hi folks. For those of us in the pre-ITA stage, please let us be careful when editing our EE profiles after we have already submitted.

I just made a huge mistake on my EE account!

So i had the intention of using my previous employer where i worked for 4 years, for reference letter. I guessed it wouldn't be easy but still decided to use them anyway. Just today, i realized that it might not be possible because the Executive Director is being a hard ass.....long story actually. Today, i prematurely entered an unnecessary vex mode and decided "you know what, screw that guy, i will use my current employer". Just a few minutes ago, i logged in to my profile and modified the work history section to include my current place of work where i have worked for 1 year and 6 months.......blunder! Dumbass! You can't have a 1 year/6-month experience and expect to be eligible for EE. I totally forgot! By the time i realized this, it was too late, i had already clicked the "Transmit" button. All i had to do was put my hands on my head and wait for the "Profile Ineligible" message to slide in.

Now i am pained because i had to create a new account. My previous account was created in March 2018 so i could have taken advantage of the tie-breaking rule when the draw hopefully comes down to 442 (which is my new CRS score when i claim sibling points). Now all i have to do is pray the draw comes down to 441 in December or wait it out till next year. Damn!

So please, let us exercise serious patience and caution when editing our profiles. Wrongly modifying your NOC or POF could cause your profile to be ineligible.

Moral of my story - Anger no good o, patience is key and of course, look before you leap.

I believe a 1 year experience is the basic requirement for EE.

Mr Zutlin - the employment you claimed points for whether na 9 years ago as long as its withing the last 10 years.

The main question is this - was that employment you calimed points for up to the required number of years you said you had.

NOTE what you put in Personal history is not added up - So lets have it as it is to offer guidance appropriately. Cos you fear shows there is really something fishy - IMO - and I might be wrong.

What exactly is the issue with the employment you put in the AVO - submitted application

I can only assume you don't know about AVO. If you belonged to a VO where many people are about 1year post AOR and interview dates takes 4 months to receive, you would understand why I feel the need to withdraw and try again before my IELTS expires. If you belong to a VO where even after one has done both interview and DNA testing and passed all since 3 months ago yet there's nothing but deafening silence from Accra, you would understand how serious the matter is.

If you belonged to AVO and you're over 6 months yet your file has not being touched and those with AOR before you have being told by the VO to look forward to early 2019, you will definitely become as restless as I am.

From my tone it's clear that I'm down at the moment. If you can't be helpful or comforting, please just let me be rather that make annoying assertions.

Did you have three years experience at time of ITA, and did you tender reference letters / other evidence for this employment at point of AOR?

Before ITA, I had 2 work experiences. A past employment of about 5 years ago which I used and included reference letter. My application is based on this NOC.

I also have another past experience of 2yrs and 6months which I put in my personal history. This one is more recent and has bank evidence of salary paid but I couldn't use it cos I needed 3 years to get higher points.
Now, my current employment will be 6 months in April 2019 and salary is also via bank.

I assume you mean April 2018? When was your aor? Was the second employment up to six months at time of ita?

Was this issue flagged in your gcms notes ?

I believe we've already concluded that noc can be combined so long as it's O A or B but need to understand your reason for being worried.

1. No I mean April 2019. Just got the job last month. I need the 6 months to be able to claim 3 years.

2. Ordered gcms twice. No issue flagged. Notes from CIO are fine. AVO has not touched my file since they received it in MAY!

3. My reason for worry is that AVO is frustrating. They don't touch your files for months. When they do; they may invite for interview (and I feel I may be interviewed cos my job was from 5 years ago and cash payment). Getting an interview date can take another 2 months or more. Even after the interview, PPR may take months to come.

Already my medicals expires in February and I'm likely to redo. My IELTS expires in June.

If by March AVO is still as they are, i intend withdrawing my application and reapplying with more recent work experiences which I can back up with evidence of salary via bank.

AVO is not an easy place to be.

**Inputs please. Considering WITHDRAWING my current application.**

Congratulations to all PPR and ITA recipients. It's been awhile. I decided to take a break to avoid heartbreaks. AVO.

My question...

I have a previous work experience of 2yrs and 6months in a certain NOC.

In one of my current employments, I'll be 6months in April (different NOC from the previous).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand both NOCs can be combined to claim 3years experienc. Must the second one be a minimum of 1year?
