Gud evening doc
Is it possible to contact STD from a flowing river?cos i normally swim in the river when i was young.......since then i do feel pain whenever i want to urinate..
pls urgent reply thanks

STIs as should be known are infections that can contrively be transmitted only by sexual contact majorly. In otherwords,a flowing or stagnant body of water is not an agent to any of the STIs.

Being that you are a male, almost all infections on sexual bases turns out as Urinary tract infection-UTI.To some extent UTI may not be transmittable by sexual means.A common cause for such symptomsof dysuria(penile discomfort on urinating) and haematuria(blood stains on micturition) without sexual contact with the riverine area is CYSTITIS(inflammation of the urinary bladder) from Schistosoma haematobium infestation-fluke.

It might be another. It is adviceable for you to walk off to the laboratory for examination of your urine and blood.Follow sensitivity and keep away from riverine activity for the time being.

Good Afternoon to the most humble doctor
I know. Pls I have come again o.More grease to your elbow. Pls kindly enlighten me about hot/warm semen. I always feel it when my hubby discharges except when i'm ovulating. I know it has to do with acidity or alkaline of the semen and vagina but pls Will like to know if such semen affects conception. God blessings.

Hi,

Your hormone assay showed slightly low gonadotropins (LH and FSH) according to the given reference range. The clinical significance is not clear to me though, as you must have a normal menstrual cycle, your progesterone is normal (comfirming ovulation), and serum prolactin normal. With some lab reference ranges too, those values are normal. So, I cannot say that your hormone assay is abnormal.

Your dh's SA is ok. Though I do not know some of the abbreviations you used, but the most important parameters -morphology, count and progressive motility- are all normal.

Are you ttc? Seeing a gynae yet? Any speficic cause/diagnosis yet found?

All the best

Hi,

Do you mean to know if there is anything wrong with the ejaculated sperm semen being warm? Nothing is wrong with that. I have not come accross any studies that associate warm ejaculatte with any abnormality. Semen is ejaculated warm, as warm as one's core body temperature, as are most things from inside the body. Has nothing to do with conception.

All the best.

Thanks for the response. Yes am ttcing ooo hmmm. Yes seeing a gynea but have not seen any for the past two months cos I was not satisfied with the response he gave after going through my result. He just landed in "madam go and prepare for IVF" without proffering any way out. He said unexplained infertility. Pls advice and suggest any way out. Thanks.

Ok.

How long have you been ttc?

The idea of "unexplained infertility" is plausible. A third of patients with unwanted delay in conception are actually diagnosed with that, when routine and special evaluations fail to reveal an abnormality.

IVF advice is in order too, but not absolutely.

Some patients may elect to watch, wait and hope, so long as their reproductive parameters are not worsening. Naturally, however, fecundity (ease of conception) decreases with age, especially the woman's.

Lower-cost assisted reproductive treatments such as artifical insemination may be the first choice option, imstead of the more costly, more sophisticated procedures.

You may seek expert information from a fertility specialist.

In the meantime, maintain a positive attitude.

All the best.

Thanks doctor. I ve been for 3yrs plus. Ok on the IVF idea as you said but I thought he should have done something about the low level of gonadotropin to increase. Yeah I am planning on seeing another doctor concerning that. Please I don't know how to use Pm to send mail here, can you please email me with my email nazunwa@gmail.com or you give yours. Please bear with me.

Ok.

3 years+ is significant.

No, medicine is not like that. It is not the lab result that is being treated but you as a whole. The "low" gonadotropins do not add up. Causes of true low gonadotrophins are very rare and would cause major symptoms such as absence of period or lack of puberty or other hormonal derangements.

And I mentioned that according to some lab reference ranges, the values you got are even normal. It would have been a different thing had they been "high". So, do not focus on that result negatively.

I had replied your PMs. I will send you a direct mail to the address you gave.

All the best.

Madam.

NORPROLAC may be of help, although somehow rare to see.

For not observing an EWMC twice does not mean,we should put it that something is wrong. Not to have observe an ovular cycle twice do not also mean something is wrong if it does not happen on some consequential bases.

thanks for the reply, actually i have done UTI test which shows negative but am still feeling the pain.pls can u suggest the types of test i can do?

A certainty that it might be a Non-gonococcal urethritis/cystitis(Hunner ulceration of the bladder) which may not be related to an infection.
What was the result of the test you did for UTI?

The test may have to be repeated, and CYSTOSCOPY is adviceable.

How long does the pain last?
Does it start before the onset of your cycle or with your cycle?

Hi,

There is no way to know for sure if this pain is due to ovulation or not.

However, cyclical mid-cycle pain, not severe, is assumed ovulatory pain until proven otherwise.

If actually it is your ovulation, your period is expected on day 27 - 28.

Test should be repeated for spectrum of aetiologies with respect to your complaint.

CYSTOSCOPY is a procedure usually done by endoscopy to view the interior lay out of the bladder. It is a diagnostic procedure to observe changes with the linings of the bladder.

This thread is not meant to attend to urgent and emmergent issues of health of immediate clinicality and attention as due to pregnancy.Everyone of us is trying to avoid a case where one of you women will cry from the housetop that a prescription from this house give in to a pregnancy loss.

Our advice is simple:
1)Report this case to a nearby health centre or a physician for management and a right medical drug prescription rendered.
2)It is adviceable to use the acetaminophen drug,Paracetamol to ease the headache, only on a doctor's advice.
3)Emzor children cough syrup can be use to ease the tussive(Cough) discomfort, only on a doctor's advice.
4)Stay away from cold environment.
5)Stay away from common irritant or allergen.
6)You may avoid eating too dried food or fruits.
7)Melt peppermint in warm water and drink to ease the cough.

8 ) Some stress are allowable, just be happy to experience some few.

Madam.

Perhaps you meant ni.pple discharge of the b.reast and not lactating as act of breastingfeeding a child.

If you experience this form of nip.ple discharge without expression,it can be referred as galactorrhea and not lactation. It is attributed to be abnormal on the ground where it is welcome by high prolactin in the serum on profiling.

But someone could also experience such on some bases where the nipple is being disturbed severally by the bra, clothe and carressing during love-making.Other factors responsible for this may be the use of some contraceptive and anti-psychotic drugs and anthelminthics.
