Yes oh my brother ur right the stupid governor is just focusing on only owerri while there are 26 lga without no infrastructure development is he the governor of owerri alone
Rochas is not just focusing on the 3 Owerri LGA's that makes up the capital. Other 24 LGA's have felt his touch too. Even though the bulk of the projects are inferior, at least those areas have seen a whole lot of facelift than before.
My town Umuaka is among the few towns that the state government upgraded to a city status. But the infrastructures carried out are sub-standard, in addition, some schools, roads and the General Hospital Nnenasa are yet to be completed or either abandoned. Even the 1 storey 50 block shopping complex at Afor Akah is yet to be completed.
So ORO to be truthful did something. But my grouse with him are legion, the same with other true Imolites.
Like selling off major government owned assets and corporations to his cronies under the guise of privatisation, without recourse to due process. Overbloated contracts for inferior projects. Littering every nooks and cranny of Imo with uncompleted China projects. Failure to pay owed civil servants their salary for 6 months until they had gone on strike. Zero percent industries in Imo as Governor for close to 5 years and so on and so forth.

Abagworo is now showing off what private developers are building in Owerri.

Because provision of basic infrastructures in Imo state has been an exclusive preserve for Owerri, nearly all Imolites of means have no choice but congregate and build in Owerri.

Denial of basic infrastructures to other areas of Imo state outside Owerri is highest under Okorocha. Ohakim did mainly clean and green in Owerri and was swept off.

Imagine what? As nearly each of those houses digs its water bore hole, what happens to Owerri's underneath in near future?

Maybe you are not aware but private industries have opened in Imo State in the past 4 years and more are still building. Are you aware that the biggest soft drink factory is presently under construction at Okigwe. Let us wait as development is gradual. On the slowed pace of work at Government projects and owing of workers, it is a national issue and not peculiar to Imo State. Nigeria's income dropped by 60% in the last 1 and half years and so did State allocations.

Like I expressed from 1st part of this thread Okorocha embarked on too many projects and it will be wise right now based on economic situation to pick up only the strategic ones to complete. Eg he should complete and equip 6 hospitals. 2 in each senatorial zones. I noticed that 90% have completed structure with only landscaping and equipping left.

What he is doing in secondary schools is welcome too.

You are not sincere. Nobody is owed by Government but rather some parastatals rejected their salary because Government made it to be at per with other ministeries as done in other States.

Contractors Besiege Imo Govt. House, Demand for N450m Debt

Gov. Rochas Okorocha By Amby Uneze in Owerri

Contractors under the aegis of Genuine Unpaid Road Contractors in Imo State have laid siege at the Government House, Owerri in demand of the payment of over N450 million debt on various road construction executed for the state government by their companies.

In their open letter addressed to the state Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha dated November 9, 2015 and signed by Messers. A.M. Ogirima, G.I. Oparaku, J.M. Onyeukwu, A.A. Nwafor, C.O. Ibezim and Eze G. Paul, they appealed to the governor to pay them for the work they did in the first term of his administration, as their projects were duly executed and payment certificates issued to them.

“The payment certificates on these contracts were processed and forwarded in memoranda by the relevant ministry and committees to the office of the Executive Governor, after necessary site inspection and due certification of the contractors’ works, by inspection teams of engineers and contract administrators of the state government.

“These payment certificates with accompanying inspection reports and other annexures were all duly acknowledged by the office of the Executive Governor of Imo state as delivered”, the letter read. According to them, it is noteworthy that after signing the contract on the construction of these roads, the contractors were prevailed-upon by then state government to move equipment, labour and materials to site and commence the execution of these road contracts without payment of mobilization fees necessary for road construction contracts.

They recalled that it was an agreement with the state government that the contractors should source for funds, deploy expertise together with materials and move to commence execution of the roads to prove their competence and quality and then get paid immediately on attainment of agreed milestones.

The affected contractors maintained that they had all worked to the agreed percentages of work and milestones to deserve payment in accordance to terms and parties obligation in the contract, even as they all borrowed money from banks and various areas in order to reach to the agreed percentage.

“Some of us have even completed their projects to asphalt surfacing level, thereby saving the roads from damage from erosion by rains deploying self-funds. It is disheartening and indeed highly frustrating that the good gesture of the contractors are not reciprocated but rather the payment obligation by the government within the contract is not fulfilled for over two years now”, the fumed.

They, however, pleaded with government to reduce their level of frustration occasioned by the condition they have been put into due to litigation from banks leading to loss of company properties as collaterals to financial institutions, trauma they have suffered even as some have died as a result of their indebtedness to these financial institutions, etc.

If Okorocha is owing contractors only 450million then he is the lowest owing Governor at least in Southern Nigeria. 2ndly aren't these people those that constructed the China Roads?

Look let me make it clear that Okorocha is a very kind man to have cautioned Imolites not to strike back. Remember what happened to the fake widows earlier this year that market women attacked them and tore their clothes. When you push him to the wall the masses will attack those trying to destabilise the State. Those outside the State will come back this month and once again confirm Okorocha's good works. Your type will once again try to darken there minds but with what they see they will know how wicked and cunny you have been all along.

Keep deceiving your self every December Rochas Makes the state to be good so when people come they would be praising him but we in Imo know better that after December it's everyman for him self Rochas has now gathered chipens and condem oil to do roads so when people come to the state there would be saying Rochas is an angel but u and I know that as they are going through roads would follow them and go because it would not even last up to a month and the roads would spoil back

Exactly what they tell me. Thats the issue I wrote about. Why do those based in Imo dismiss what is obvious including schools and hospitals but praise other States like Akwa Ibom. You once posted Akwa Ibom hospital as achievement even though it is only 1 hospital and Akwa Ibom is far richer than Imo but yet remained uncompleted for 8 years of Akpabio. However barely four years and Imo has done the structure of 27 hospitals and you are not satisfied. I always knew there was no way the 27 would be completed in 4 years but satisfied with the completion of structural work in 90%. What is left is equipping, landscaping and staffing which should now be done one hospital at a time because of dwindling funds.

Imo 2015: Okorocha Lauds FEPSGA
By Salifu Usman
— Dec 6, 2015 3:42 am | Leave a comment
Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has expressed delight at the on-going 34th edition of annual Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA) tagged ‘Imo 2015’ in Owerri, Imo State’s capital, saying the competition will boost the local economy of the state.

Speaking to newsmen after declaring the games open at the Dan Anyiam stadium in Owerri, he said the state has made history as the first Eastern state to host the annual games.

“This is the first time FEPSGA is being hosted in the south-east, 34 years of the games. We are proud to be the first from this part of the world to host the games.

“We are expecting not less than 10, 000 participants and most of them will spend little money for calls, transportation, accommodation, feeding and so on, and this will help boost our local economy,” he stated.

According to the governor, by hosting the 34th edition of the public service games, Imo State is by implication hosting the unity of the country through sports, assuring the organisers that the state is willing to host the next edition of the championship in 2016.

“It is a source of unity, seeing people from different part of the country coming to Imo State to relax, interact and have fun together. It is a show of love and unity and this is good for our nation at this particular time of our life as a nation.

‘This is a good development which is aimed at keeping civil servants in the state fit and healthy and we are willing to host the next edition again.”

Speaking earlier, the president of FEPSGA, Comrade Hassan Dahiru, commended the state government and the good people of Imo State for their hospitality, saying the federation had settled for Imo State of the staging of the 2015 edition of the game because of the memorable stories about state’s feats in tourism, sports facilities, security network and hospitality.

He commended Governor Okorocha for accepting to host the games, and providing the enabling environment for the successful hosting of games.

The governor was also honour and decorated as an icon of sports and Goodwill Ambassador of FEPSGA.
