Addax/NNPC to Invest $3.5bn in Onshore, Offshore Operations On December 12, 2017 9:40 am By Sebastine Obasi

ADDAX Petroleum Development Limited, in collaboration with the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC plans to investment about $3-5 billion to optimize its operations in Nigeria and increase production from its existing assets, both onshore and offshore, part of which includes its current drilling activities in the Njaba field in the oil mining lease, OML 124. NNPC NNPC In a statement obtained by Vanguard, Addax stated, “The first oil producer in this drilling campaign was recently drilled and completed ahead of schedule and at significantly lower cost than budget. Preliminary well test results have also exceeded projected average oil production potential.” This is coming at a time Addax and NNPC production sharing contract, PSC, trained over 600 youths from its host communities in three Niger Delta states of Imo, Akwa Ibom and Rivers at the Federal Technical College, Omoku, Rivers States, in select vocations. The scheme known as Technical Skill Acquisition Programme (TSAP) has enabled the community youths to be trained on selected vocations such as fabrication, welding, tailoring, computer science/computer training, carpentry among others, thus developing their entrepreneurial skills. A statement from the company stated that at the end of each training session, “Addax Petroleum donated tools and equipment to assist them set-up small scale businesses in their chosen vocation. Thus far, significant amounts have been expended on this scheme.” In its 19 years of operation, Addax was said to have produced over 425 million barrels of crude oil since it took over operatorship of Oil prospecting Licenses (OPLs) 98/118 and OPLs90/225 previously operated by Ashland Nigeria Oil Company which operated the blocks from 1973-1998. According to the company, since the 2009 SINOPEC takeover, Addax Petroleum/NNPC PSC has invested over $5 billion and generated over $7 billion for the Nigerian government.

Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, said on Thursday the state government would revoke titles to all unused lands.

He said government would give priority to the Industrial layouts where people acquired lands and kept them for years without developing it, while waiting to sell them at very exorbitant prices.

The governor stated these when members of the Owerri Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture visited him at the Government House in Owerri.

Okorocha also said his administration would reactivate all the moribund manufacturing companies in the state whether public or private owned, adding that the administration is taking stock of all the companies involved.

He said: “My dream and vision now is to address the issue of manufacturers in Imo State, as the state is now ready for manufacturing and industrialization. Owerri is now the fastest growing city in Nigeria comparable to Lagos and Abuja. Real Estate is growing geometrically but my concern is that the manufacturing sector is not moving in the same speed.

“We have now come out with a clear policy that we must encourage genuine manufacturers, those who create jobs and not suppliers or dealers on products. We are talking about those that take raw-materials and put them into finished goods creating chains of opportunities for distribution, manufacturing and consumption.

“I have equally ordered that all un-utilized sites of manufacturing at the Onitsha road industrial area be revoked, the fences and gate houses cleared for serious manufacturing companies to come and take over. Most owners of lands there are not manufacturers, they simply used the opportunity to grab lands and keep them there for sale. We have decided to revoke all unused lands there.”

President of the Chamber, Dr. Igwe Nnadumije, thanked the governor for remembering the manufacturing sector in the state and promised the collaboration of the members for the industrialization of the state.

Everytime we are hearing the same lies and propaganda everyday while at least 2/3rd of Imolites have all ran away to Lagos, Abuja, PH, Onitsha, Ibadan etc to earn a decent living of which Imo state has failed to give them over the years.

We have been hearing this same crap for the last 7yrs. Is this project going to remain on paper for life? Why can't Okoroawusa drive Imolites who are investing everywhere but their ordinary Imo state to come home and invest to grow the poor state? Why is Imo state all about propaganda? Tufiaa

And you wonder why Imo state is useless and worthless. This is the only investment Okoroawusa could support for his people in Imo state- Cattle colony.

Even core APC states are rejecting this same cattle colony but it is already in Imo state. I spit on Imo state.

—Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State yesterday said that plans have been concluded to commission 1,125 hectares of land in the state for cattle business. The governor made this known to newsmen in Owerri.

According to the principal officer to the governor on Imo State Lives Stock, Hon Calistus Chinedu, the business was in partnership with Amana Cattle Dealers Association of Nigeria.

He said: “This is to inform you that Governor Rochas Okorocha will be commissioning the Ultra Modern Regional Cattle Market, in Okiqwe Local Government Area of Imo State, one of its kind in West Africa.

“The land space is 1,125 hectares of land. The government of Imo State acquired the land since 2008. The reason for which the government in the past acquired the land was not fulfilled. “

It was the view of the principal officer that by the time the cattle market begins to function, “the prices of cattle will be very cheap when compared with other places”. He added that, “it will also boost the revenue generation of the state government. “
Furthermore, he said, “ the first set of cows have landed in the market. We are appealing to Imo people and other people in the neighbouring states to come and patronize the market.“

... while under Okorocha govt, Okigwe and Orlu have shrunk tremendously in the last six years in comparison with other Nigerian cities of the size of Okigwe and Orlu before Okorocha came to office.

Who taught Okorocha that govt infrastructure in a state is mainly for the state capital?

If Okorocha had built in Okigwe and Orlu even one of the tens of City expansion roads he built in Owerri, Imo state should have been counting three modern and expanding cities today.

Thank you, Abagworo. Please keep the pictures coming.

In my opinion, I think Imo State needs continuity just like our neighboring states.

This is because a governor from another party will definitely abandon these projects.

Most importantly, I need those centenary towers completed so as not only to give Owerri a nice facelift, but to also provide accommodation to Ndi Imo.

See how Lagos, Anambra, Ebonyi, etc. are steadily progressing because of continuity

If it will take the continuity or stay in power of a dumbass political party such as APC to spur infrastructural development in a state, the people of the state do not deserve a pint of the free air.

It's not the duty of City or Village dwellers to clear weeds in front of government premises.

The place the Umuna Central School, Orlu, is located is by no means a rural area, however this Okorocha government has been trying to re-grade Orlu as a rural area for the convenience of the governor.

Owerrinchise people do not clear weeds in front of Emmanuel College and other schools in Owerri.

Pray that soon, May 2019, there shall be an end to this Apartheid policy in development program of Okorocha government. Okorocha's adoption of Owerri as the only urban town in Imo state, and his consequent concentration of development projects in only Owerri zone, thereby politically and economically over-empower people of Owerri, that amounts to Apartheid policy.

This is too lame a suggestion. Okoroawusa has not empowered the people of Owerri zone by any stratum. Owerri is the capital territory of Imo State and tend to occupy the mind of sitting governor. When dignitaries visit Imo State governor, they do not visit to Orlu, Okigwe or Oguta. They simply find their way to Owerri. First impression matters in most cases which are tenants to nature. The impression Owerri creates in the mind of the visitors remains the basic knowledge of entire state.

Okorocha govt built tens of new roads extending to once undeveloped lands in Owerri.
The new roads led to springing up of new housing estates and thus increased the cost of land of Owerri people.

Okorocha did not build even one of such roads in Orlu and Okigwe to expand the two old cities.

That's Economic and political over-empowerment of Owerri people, but impoverishment of people of Orlu and Okigwe areas.

Instead, roads for city expansion built in Orlu by former governors were abandoned to dilapidation. Not even one of such roads was re-coated with asphalt since 2011.

The governors of other states do not say because visitors arrive first at their state capital, therefore they concentrate nearly 95% of their development projects on the state capital - as Okorocha has been doing in Imo state.

If you have Owerri look like Dubai while Orlu, Okigwe and other towns in Imo state remain as they are with little or no modern development infrastructures, you don't beat your chest about modernity and development in Imo state.

ORLU is comparable to other State capitals in Nigeria if you must know. Forget all these paid political jobbers trying to sell outright lies to those unaware of the level of development in Imo. As far as roads, schools and markets are concerned Orlu is exactly how Owerri was in 2011 with exception of New Owerri.

Obvious lies from a liar personified. Orlu was as funny as Nnewi, Ohafia or Afikpo as at 2011 but was transformed by Okorocha between 2013/2014. The transfkrmation is back and ongoing now after a 3 year rest.

Nnewi, Owerri and Nsukka were at the same level in 2010 but today Nnewi and Nsukka has grown with each having a far bigger economy than Owerri today.

Branch out from this Ihioma road Orlu into the scores of other now dilapidated urban roads of Orlu; move into the dilapidated roads around the Imo international market Orlu and the University teaching hospital - the two economic nerves of the town - you may be tempted to curse whoever governs Imo state for being so insensitive to the plight of Imolites in Orlu and visitors to the area. You may insinuate that governor Okorocha is purposely stifling the town and impoverish its people.

If you are unfortunate and remain in Orlu after a few minutes rain, you risk getting trapped by flood. Okorocha refused to complete Orlu urban drainage system, even though he acknowledges in video chats that his government is yet to complete the drainage system.

The same Ihioma road Orlu expanded since 2013 purposely to link Okorocha's hometown in Ideato, that's what you continue to paste since 2013 each time Orlu is mentioned.

Why wasn't the other most travelled Amaigbo road in Orlu expanded up to Eziachi (1.5km) or to Nkwerre? In a day, about 100 minibuses from Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Abia states going to Onitsha and to Lagos convey passengers through this Amaigbo road, Orlu.

Talk is that there is no new road for new layout built by Okorocha government in Orlu to expand the old city.

There is ongoing dualization of the teaching hospital road as we type. However Okorocha cannot do everything unless he's God. When you compare Orlu with its level of towns like Arochukwu, Nnewi and Afikpo you will appreciate Okorocha. Some capital cities like Awka are competing with it.

There is no dualization of the Teaching Hospital Road Orlu going on. I am on ground.

Sixth year running, the Teaching Hospital road remains barely motorable.

If Okorocha had done in Orlu 1/100th of his modernisation and expansion of Owerri, who in Orlu shall complain?

Orlu on the same level with Arochukwu, Afikpo? Wow, in the mind of your mentor, Okorocha who has consistently declared Orlu and Okigwe as rural areas for his convenience.

You people can as well place Orlu and Ogboko at the same level.

Hehhehee..if you like wake up in the dead of the night to comment, i will still reply you when I see it. Now take this to the bank. Owerri, Nnewi and Nsukka were competing in 2010 but today Nnewi and Nsukka has left Owerri behind in all indices of development. Onitsha and Awka are already far ahead of Owerri.

I can say without mincing words today that Owerri, Nnewi, Nsukka, Afikpo can be rated on the same scale, but the only thing Owerri has over them is statue and round-abouts which Owerri is known for.

For the records, there are already 1/3rd of Imolites resident in Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi where they see as their greener pasture and obodo oyibo, whereas there is no single Anambran resident anywhere in Imo state. What does that mean to you? cheesy

Just call on me when Owerri or anywhere in Imo state start having a metropolitan outlook with 10lanes super-high like this in Awka. cool

My brother, the truth be told, I am a resident of Owerri, nothing has actually changed in Owerri. The flyover, Okorocha started has not been completed and put to use since it was started 5yrs ago. The so called tunnel is more or less a death trap, even Okorocha has never used it. Filth and bad roads are over running Owerri. I hate it when some people come here to right rubbish whereas there is nothing going on, on ground. Let us start saying the bitter truth.
