birdman:

Better to introduce yourself than let your enemy do it for you. Keeping it private would play into PDP's hands. The more open the process, the harder it is for PDP to bribe a faction or manufacture stories as they have done in the past.

I don't think manufactured stories matter that much in the grand scheme of things.

Regarding bribery, perhaps. Though one wonders if they'll be easier to bribe/coerce/intimidate now that they are publicly known.

strangest: Take a look at the attached newspaper and ponder... then,1986 was given as deadline by NEPA... Prior to 1986, there was no PDP but most of these men were already in power... SCRAPING OFF PDP will not provide the solution to our problem.... If we can first DISCOVER where our problem lies, its only then that we can start looking for a solution... Our problem lies with this men, if we actually want this country to grow...

WE MUST NOT BE SUNK IN THE DEEP OF MIS-CONCEPTON.
NIGERIAN YOUTHS HAS TO BE WISE.
The Issue is not that we are looking for Saints yet. However we can build a society where the right candidate will always make their way into power in future.
THERE MUST BE EVOLUTION If this must be achieved.
How?
Nigerian youths must create a viable competitive platform for the political parties.
How?
By massively giving the opposition a chance.
For what reason?

Not because we really love them, but because we want the ruling party to know that we have choice(they already said our beggars has no choice). So we've got to proove them wrong.
What next, after 4 years, if the opposition are worse than PDP, We kick them out.
However, at the next comming of PDP, they would respect nigerians more than they do at present.
Bit by bit, our democracy will evolve into the citizen driven one.
Let us continue to proove that we (the youth) must be respected.
Saying they are all the same and so maintaining the status quo is just like selling more of our birthrights already stolen.
Nigerian youth arise.

I can understand the fact that politicians must pursue their interest, in which there are no permanent friends or enemies. So the coming together of these people(politicains)which by the way is not permanant, should not be the basis of our hope of excitement. The question is the interest, which in my view goes beyond power must change hands to what and how these groups intend to use power for our good. This must form the foundation for any discussion of merger, otherwise this move can finally mark the end of any meaningful opposition in Nigeria whether to PDP or this new group to emerge.

Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim

Former Governor of Yobe State, Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim, has explained the position of the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) in the proposed merger of opposition political parties in the country, saying ANPP expects other parties to give up their identities and collapse their structures into that of the ANPP to form a mega party.

He said this is because the ANPP being one of oldest parties in the country; is older than all the parties lined up for the proposed merger and has structures from the grassroots up to the urban areas in all parts of the country.

Senator Ibrahim who made the statement at an interparty rebuilding committee meeting for the North East sub region in Bauchi said for that reason, the party will not be expected to join others in the current effort to merge political parties but would expect others to join its structure.

Ibrahim said the party will only support merger without condition because all the political parties that were talking of merger are new parties that came after ANPP was formed long ago, and solicited the cooperation of the members to build the party.

Chairman of committee, former Governor of Kano State Malam Ibrahim Shekarau on his part explained that the aim of the meeting was to unite members of the party to carry out a national survey of the party in their effort to rebuild the party ahead 2015 general election.

Shekarau said the idea of setting up a 21 member rebuilding committee came after a committee set up by the national leadership of the party went round the country and identified problems of the party and proffered solutions to the numerous problems bedeviling the party.

He said the committee was divided in to three to ease their assignments in all the six geo political zones of the country.

Chairman Board of trustee of the ANPP Senator Ali Modu Sheriff reiterated the commitment of the national leadership of the party to address the problems of funding, lack of office accommodation and unity of members.

One time governor of Kano State, Senator Kabiru Gaya and former ANPP Board of Trustees (BOT) chairman, Alhaji Gambo Magaji, stressed the importance of unity of the party in order to address the problems of the country and to save it from its present socio economic woes.

Post of 2013. Yet, ethnic/sectional/religious bias will prevent many from appreciating the important issues, ultimately beneficial to the progress of Nigeria, you have shown good vision and analytical intelligence to lay out succinctly.
