Happy new year to you! Uyo has more side walks and closed drains than any city in Nigeria that i know of, However most of the older roads were designed without provision of covered drains nor sidewalks which has become the hallmark of this present administration. hopefully the older roads will be upgraded to the standard of the new roads.

But the goodnews however, is that when it comes to the city of Uyo, open drains and lack of sidewalks are the exception, as opposed to most cities in Nigeria where open drains, lack of street light and sidewalks are the rule

Impressive collection of pics! Looks like Uyo is coming on strong these last 5 years......with a growing middleclass!

They should sweep ALL the roads so dirt/sand doesn't gather on the sides......it's irritating to the eyes, and ruins what otherwise would have been a good snapshot of the city! They should plant more trees in the residential areas as well!

Uyo is a very neat city and is inhabited by akwa ibomites who are very clean by nature , I dont know if you have visited the city recently. The dirt roads are those that are still under construction especially the area around the tropicana and specialist hospital which is a brand new development with a new road. rest assured once complete it will be as neat as the other parts of the city.
